Disclaimer: … no comment for this… O.o No, I don't own Inuyasha.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry for not updating as soon as possible, you see, this is what happens when you don't listen to your mom. I was on roller blades and was trying to learn how to ride it when I stumble across a steep hill, and guess what? I rode down any ways! Jeez, aren't I smart? Oh well, so my mom took my computer away for awhile because of that. I didn't even hurt myself too. Life sucks! Anyways…

ON WITH THE STORY!!

Chapter 5

Invitations and the pendent.

Inuyasha awoke the next morning with the sun shining in his eyes. He blinked a couple of times and got out of bed. Staring at the clock, he figured out that he had roughly a good 45 minutes before he had to leave for school so he decided to go out to the river to think. When he reached there, he sat down at the edge and thought over what the little girl had said the other night. Had everything she said actually happened? Was she really the ghost of the little girl that had died 4 years ago? During that time, it was all over the news, most people knew about the story while others didn't really care. At first many people thought that the little girl was alive and was yet to be found, since no one had claimed to see her body. When the police went to check up at the village she was born, they found it totally destroyed and ruined. Barely any useful clue was left to help the cops with their search. After around 2 months on that case and with nothing to lead them to, they decided to give up and bring it to the point that the girl's body was already buried under water. Although not many people knew why she was out there in the river during the storm, the police had jumped to the conclusion that the little girl had suicide. After a week from that, they had learned the story about the little girl's life from a villager who was once from that village but had left to visit some friends. Only the part that she killed herself because she didn't have a choice on which she got to choose who to marry was known and so they had left it as that. Weeks later, the story was long forgotten as if it really never happened. Shame that people these days really don't care about someone else's life, but only care if it was their own.

Inuyasha threw a rock at the river and it skipped 3 times before plunging into the blue river. He didn't really want to believe all this; he just couldn't really believe it.

`How do I know that this so called "girl" is even telling me the truth, she could be lying for all I know' he thought silently, But that really didn't convince him at all, and he slowly began to think he was really believing her now. `Sigh… may be I should tell Miroku or Sango about it, maybe even Rin or Sesshoumaru. They might know what to do.' Inuyasha nodded to himself. "Yes, I think I might as well tell them that." He quickly got up and began to get ready for school that was until he realized that he forgot the history homework that was suppose to finish at least a bit of it. He was suppose to read the newspaper article and try to figure out what has happened and try to find solutions or any of your own opinion on why you think she died. Inuyasha laughed, it really didn't seem like history. `May be the new history teacher doesn't know how to teach real history, but at least she's nicer then most teachers.' He thought as be got ready for school, he'll deal with the homework problem later.

~-~ SCHOOL ~-~ (o ya!! School, how fun…)

Inuyasha ran to his group of friends and was a bit surprised to see Kagome there chatting with Sango and Rin. He smiled to himself, and went over to where Miroku and Sesshoumaru was, but before he got there, Rin had announced something.

"OK everyone! Since Inuyasha is here now, I'm going to tell you the great news!" She chirped cheerfully. She was grinning from ear to ear and looked at her friends. Sango leaned over to Kagome and whispered into her ear. "She's probably telling us about her birthday party that's coming up soon. Rin always has a BIG party at her house." Kagome laughed, she really enjoy hanging out with these people. They were a lot more fun then her other so called friend.

"As you know my birthday is coming soon!!! AND, I'm going to have a birthday party!" She squealed with delight. Sango whispered into Kagome's ear once again. "See… told you so. It's the same every year…" Kagome smiled, she never been to a party before. `This could be fun.' She thought. Rin came from a very rich family and she lives in a huge mansion. A party there would be really bare if you don't invite enough people. But usually Rin invites everyone from her grade. Just to make the party more fun. Rin looked at her friends' blank expression, weren't they glad that she was having a party? Rin's smiled faded and frowned. Sesshoumaru saw that and asked her what was wrong. Rin just stared at her feet and quickly asked a question.

"Aren't you guys happy that I'm having a party???" she whispered. Everyone quickly looked up at Rin; it's not good to make her cry or even sad for there was always someone there to kill you if you make her sad. (And guess who that person is ^-^)

Kagome gave Rin a warm smile. "I can't wait for you party Rin. When is it going to be?" Rin was cheerful again and began telling them about her party. "MY party will start soon! It's going to be on September 10! And I decided to invite a lot of people!!! O and Kagome, since you're new here, I'm going to tell you EVERYTHING about the party. It's going to be so much fun!" Rin replied. She was going to stat more about her party but the school bell rang and they quickly rushed into class. Surprising, Kikyo wasn't here today, so the day went by really fast and before you know it, lunch came already. So as again, Rin went on her merry way and started talking about the party.

"So… anyways guys, before went had to go to class, I was talking about my party. I'm inviting a lot of people. Oh… and I have some good news. I'm inviting Kouga so we can all be friends again!" She chirped cheerfully. The boys stopped eating and paused more a minute. Kouga was coming??? Miroku and Sesshoumaru looked and Inuyasha to see what he thought about that ides. Inuyasha nearly choked on his food. `Why the hell is Kouga going to be at the party??? Doesn't Rin know what happened to us?' Sango looked pleased, "Oh RIN! That's a great idea! WE can all make up and become friends again!!! Isn't this great guys? Guys? What's up with the weird faces?" They just stared at her. Sango looked at Inuyasha's face and smirked, she knew he was going to be pissed after hearing that. Rin and Sango decided to help out with Inuyasha's relationship with Kagome. If Kouga was going to be at the party, she's pretty sure that he's going to ask Kagome out. `This can help make Inuyasha jealous and make him do something.' She though and she mentally laughed at her sort of evil plan. Kagome looked confused. `Who is this Kouga guy anyways?' She thought, she doesn't remember that well, but she's sure that she met him before. Rin smiled even wider. "I know! Beside, I bet we all want Kouga to be our friend again right?" Sango was the only who nodded back, the boys just continued eating their lunch or just stared at them. Rin noticed this and knew why, but pretended she didn't. It's so fun being clueless sometimes. "Guys? What's wrong with you guys today? It feels like I'm talking to a group of zombies and dead beats." Sango laughed whiled taking a bite out of her hamburger. "Don't bother with them Rin, theirs skulls are too thick that none of your words are reaching them"

"Sango, how could you say that?" Miroku asked. "I was listening to every single word that Rin had said. And yet you think we have a thick skull. I can understand why you said that if you were referring to Inuyasha, but including me in it." He placed a hand over his heart. "I'm hurt…" Sango snorted. "Yea yeah… whatever. We all know that Inuyasha has a thick skull." The girls laughed when Inuyasha knocked Miroku at the back of the head. "Shut up Miroku. At least I don't go running around looking at girls that I just met a few seconds ago." Miroku stood up and brushed the sand off his pants. "Who are you referring Inuyasha? I don't know who you're talking about." Everyone laughed and quickly ate their lunch. The bell rang shortly after that and they all went to class. The next class was History, and someone from the group didn't like that subject. Not even a little. Everyone quickly took their seats and Kagome stared at the window. Miss Shinde came into the class room smiling happily. As she reached to her table, she noticed that someone wasn't here. "Is someone missing?" She asked the class, almost everyone shook their heads but a couple of girls stood up. "Miss Shinde, Kikyo is away today." Replied one of Kikyo's friends (A/N ok… in high school they don't do that, but oh well… I'm not even in high school yet. Give me a BREAK!!! Ah well….)

Shinde smiled. "Thank you, you may take a seat. Ok, before we start, I have something to say. Last class, I had forgot to bring my assignment for you guys so, I decided that the story from years ago would be fun to read about since not many people remember the story." Inuyasha smiled, good thing he didn't even bother doing the work for it. "However, since I already gave you the work, why not just finish it? I want you to read through the whole story and research about it online. Reading what other people thought about this story. Then I want you to list 20 clues that showed that the girl killed herself. And NO copying other people's work. And this not a partner assignment. Ok… since I got all that clear out, I want you to turn to page 59 in your history textbook." Inuyasha looked at the story about the little girl. He still couldn't believe that she actually talked to a dead person. Even though she looked like a normal person. He sigh… may be everything was a lie. May be right now he's dreaming about it and if he pinched himself, everything would go back to what it was before he met the little girl and started hearing things. `But…' Inuyasha thought. `The day strange things happened was when…' he looked over to where Kagome sat. She was reading out loud from the textbook. `Kagome came to our school.' Something lighted Inuyasha mind. He remembered something the little girl had said to him at that night.

~Flashback~

She stopped in her tracks but not long after then she continue walking.

"Because Inuyasha, I know who you are and you know who I am also. When the time comes… Fate is going to wrap us around in a death lock with her fingers. Until we met again Inuyasha." And with that she drifted away.

~End of Flashback~

`That one phrase she said. "Because Inuyasha, I know who you are and you know who I am also" does that mean that it's someone I know already?' Inuyasha looked around the classroom and he spotted Sango and Rin. `Could they be the little girl? Neither of them looked like her. And there was one more thing that went against that. The little girl was a ghost and even if it was either Sango or Rin, wouldn't the little girl meet him earlier? The day he saw was the same day as…'

"Inuyasha would you like to carry on reading?" Shinde asked looking at Inuyasha, who just stared back. `What did she ask?' he thought. Shinde waited for an answer, but seeing that she wasn't going to get one, she repeated herself. "Inuyasha. Would you please read the next part where Kagome had left off?" Inuyasha nodded his head and look at his textbook. It wasn't even opened and he couldn't remember what page it was. Shinde waited for Inuyasha to start reading. After what seemed like 5 minutes she looked up to Inuyasha. "Inuyasha? Can you please start reading now?" Inuyasha just stared at her before opening his mouth. "What page are we on again?"

Inuyasha flopped down onto his soft bed. During history he had made a complete fool of himself. Everyone at class laughed at him when he didn't even know what page he was suppose to read. When he looked over to Kagome to see what she was doing, he found out she was laughing too. He smiled at that, he loved the way Kagome laughed and smiled. He sighed and got up to pick up his backpack. During history he thought that he knew who the little girl was but he needed more clues. He took out his Math text book and started to work, but he was still thinking about who the mysterious girl was. He tried to concentrate on his homework but really couldn't. After each question he finished, he would think about the ghost girl. While Inuyasha was doing his work Sesshoumaru came in. "What are you doing little brother?" Inuyasha looked up to his brother. "Nothing that will concern you Sesshoumaru." Sesshoumaru just looked at Inuyasha. "That's right; it's nothing that will concern me. However, there is something that does have my interest. What were you thinking during History class?" Inuyasha stopped working, should he tell his brother? "Go away Sesshoumaru. I'm doing my homework. And don't you have some to do too?" "No, I'm done." and with that he left the room. Inuyasha just continued working but after awhile, he just didn't fell like it. He flopped back on his bed and went to sleep.

~Later that day… during the night~

Inuyasha was still working on his homework and it was getting pretty late too. As he was working, he saw the little girl again. He quickly stood up and gazed through his window and saw the little girl sitting at the edge of the river. She was holding a piece of paper in her hands and was reading it over, hands trembling as she did. Inuyasha walked outside to see what she was reading.

"Hey there, what are you reading?" The little girl jumped at the sound of Inuyasha's voice. She quickly turned around and put the paper behind her back. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow. "So… what do you have in your hands?" The little girl looked away. "Nothing that will concern you Inuyasha." She said sheepishly slowly crumbling the paper in her hands, Inuyasha heard that and tried to reach for it but the girl quickly threw it into the water. Inuyasha tried to grab the paper before it landed into the river but failed. He turned to the little girl and glared at her. "Why did you do that? I only wanted to see it." Inuyasha muttered. The little girl stared back up to him. "Well… may be I didn't want you to read it. Ever that of that Mr. I think I know everything?" "MR. WHAT??? Esh girl chill out, what's the matter with you?"

The little girl looked away and sat back down.

"You know what's the matter with me already Inuyasha. Or have you forgotten?" She stared into Inuyasha's eyes. "Tell me the truth; do you even care about what had happened to me?" Inuyasha looked into the girls eyes; she had crystal blue eyes and was slowly filling up with tears. "Of course I do care what happened to you kid. IT'S just that…" Inuyasha got cut off because the little girl was screaming at him.

"KID??? Why are you calling me a kid huh? I do have a name you know." She yelled looking angrily at Inuyasha. Inuyasha smiled, so now he'll learn her name.

"Ok then kid, I'll use your name. What is it?" The girl's angry face quickly vanished. Now what was she going to do? "Why do you even what to know my name?" She asked. "I don't care if you call me kiddo." She lied. Inuyasha frowned. He had thought that if he knew the name of the girl, he can figure out who she was. `But why do I want to know who she is? She's just a bratty little girl.' He thought. He turned to look at the girl who was staring right back at him. `OH SHIT; did she hear what I just said?' the continued staring at Inuyasha and it was beginning to annoy him. "Why are you here in the first place? I don't think I invited you here anyways."

Inuyasha thought for a moment, why was he there? "I came to see what you were doing. I saw you sitting by the river reading something." The little girl just looked at him. "Ok… whatever." And with that she continued gazing at the river. Inuyasha noticed this and asked her a question.

"You really hate him don't you" he asked as he sat down beside her. She turned to look at him. "Who?" "The boy that tried to kill you." Inuyasha replied. The little girl just laughed. "Me? Hate him? Of course I do! He killed me! Killed my family, my friends, my village and… my heart." She whispered the last part quietly but Inuyasha still heard her. HE was about to ask one more thing when she started speaking again. "I can say that out loud but I don't mean any of yet." Inuyasha looked at her confused. What was she saying? "What? What do you mean???"

She looked at him with sad eyes. "Even though he killed everything I had, there is still one thing that I have yet I wish I don't." She looked away. "I still love him." Inuyasha was caught off guard. What's with this girl??? The guy she loved killed her, her family and friends. Yet she still loves him? "Why would you love someone like him??? He killed for god sakes! He took your real body and life away. And you still LOVE him?!?!?!?!" She turned to look at him. "I know it seems strange but I just can't help myself. After all we have been through; I just can't get over him."

The tears finally came and she didn't even bother wiping them away. "When I was here by myself for 4 years, 4 long years, I slowly forget about him, about why I was still here. But now." She looked up to Inuyasha with a teary face. "I remember everything and its hurts. Hurts a lot and I don't know how to stop the pain." She covered her face with both hands and continued weeping. Inuyasha didn't know what to do. Sometimes love can be the worst feeling in the world. He looked down at the little girl, what can he do to help? He sighed; there was nothing he could do. This was her own problem, a problem she must face by herself. So, he just sat there and listen to her cries, each and every sob tore a part of his heart away. He really didn't like it when girls cried. It made him feel… sad too.

Inuyasha looked up towards the night sky to see some stars shining. May be he could lighten up the mood by changing the subject. "Hey… look at the stars, aren't they shining really nicely tonight?" he asked and turned to see her but she just shrugged and sobbed some more. Inuyasha couldn't take it anymore, if he stay there any longer, he was going to shake the girl to her senses but he didn't think it was such a good idea. So… he did the only possible idea that he could think of to make her calm down. He left her. Left her there crying her eyes out. There was nothing he could do or say. `I guess its best for her to be alone for awhile." He thought as he slowly made his way back to his room. When the little girl heard Inuyasha's footsteps fading and then sound of the door closing, she looked up. Her tear stain face ruined her pretty face, but she didn't care about it at the moment. She looked up into the night sky to see all the stars glowing brightly at her. She smiled and lay on the ground, watching the stars. After a few minutes, she saw a shooting star and quickly got up and made a wish. `My only wish is that there is someone in this world we can save me from my sorrow.' Tears fell down again. `Save me from all the things that has happened to me… someone to save me from him… the one who took everything away.' She looked up to see the shooting star gone and frowned. Who was she kidding? That was an impossible wish, someone to save her from all the horrible memories? HA! `There's no one in this world that can save me' she thought quietly. `Absolutely no one.' She was going to disappear for the night but something stopped her. She looked back up to the night sky and smiled. "These really do look like the stars from 4 years ago." She whispered softly. "I guess some things will never change." Instead of leaving for the night, the little girl decided to stay and watch the stars.

Many hours had past but the little girl didn't notice, that was until the stars were gone. She quickly sat up and looks around. The sun was already up and school was going to start. She was going to be late if she didn't get ready now. She quickly disappeared out of sight while a sleepy Inuyasha just woke up. He walked towards the window and saw the golden sun shining. He smiled to himself and was about to get ready when Inuyasha spotted something from afar. He quickly ran out to the river and looked at the object; it looked like a very old pendant. Inuyasha just shrugged and placed it in his pocket and ran back to his room. He was going to be late soon if he didn't leave for school. As Inuyasha was getting ready, somewhere far away, a distressed girl was rummaging through her pockets, looking for something. She placed her hands on her collar bone. "It's gone, she whispered as she put her hands down. "It's gone… I lost it."

Inuyasha quickly ran to school, he didn't want to be late. When he got there the bell rang and they quickly got to class. The first class of the day was English with Mr. Myoga and he wasn't at the class so Inuyasha thought it was a perfect time to show his friends something. "Hey guys!" He started "Guess what I found at the river side today in the morning." Miroku smiled. "Ahh… I know what it is. What's her name Inuyasha?" Inuyasha just glared at him and Sango just bonked him on the head. "No Miroku, I found this at the river." He reached into his packet and brought out a pendant, it was shining beautifully because Inuyasha had cleaned it and polished it. The pendant was really pretty and many "ohh"s and "ahh"s were heard. The pendant was a blue colour and had an orange glass ball at the bottom of the pendant, the string was a rainbow colour and it had many shades of blue. `Who ever owns this' Inuyasha thought, `Must really love the ocean.' Kagome's eyes went wide. "How did you get that???" She shrieked and grabbed it from Inuyasha's hand. Inuyasha just stared at her puzzled, why was she so upset over this pendant? Sango and Rin whined. "Kagome, that isn't fair, just because Inuyasha has a thing for you doesn't mean you get to keep the pretty pendant. Inuyasha and Kagome blushed and Kagome looked away. "W-what? I don't like her." Inuyasha muttered. Sango just laughed. "Sure Inuyasha. Whatever." Inuyasha just grabbed back the pendant only to have Kagome reaching for it again. "HEY!! Inuyasha!!! Give me the pendant." Inuyasha just laughed. "No." Kagome got angry and started jumping for the pedant since Inuyasha used their height difference as an advantage. Kagome face was red and she was fuming. "Inuyasha! GIVE ME BACK MY PENDANT!!!" after the words left her mouth, she quickly covered them. She did not say that. She looked up to Inuyasha only to see him looking back at her. His eyes were filled with confusion. `H-her pendant???' Inuyasha thought. `But I found this pendant at the same point the ghost girl was.' The others didn't know what was happening; they just thought that Kagome wanted the pendant. Just then, Mr. Myoga entered the class and everyone quickly sat down. Right before, the teacher started there lessons, Kagome threw a note to Inuyasha. He unfolded the note and read 4 simple words. "I didn't mean that." But that didn't stop Inuyasha from being doubtful about her. But he just nodded and smile at Kagome. And listened to what the teacher was teaching. But he was pretty sure that the pedant did belong to the little girl, not Kagome. He looked and Kagome only to see her staring at him. She blushed and quickly turned and looked at the teacher. Inuyasha smirked. Oh well… whoever the pendant belong to, he was going to find out.
