Chapter 8

Secret revealed

Inuyasha grumbled, this was driving his patience. How long does it take for 2 hours to go by??? He flipped over to watch the clock. It read 8:43PM and it wasn't dark enough for the ghost girl to come out. `I wonder if she will die in the sunlight in her spirit form.' He watched the second hand on her clock ticking by. Each second went by, another tick was heard. Another tick was heard, the more annoyed he was becoming. The more annoyed he was becoming, the less patience he had. And the list goes on. He sat up and tapped his foot against the ground, what can he do while waiting for 2 hours to leave? Inu reached over and grabbed his phone and dial Miroku's number. `There's nothing better to do' he thought as he heard the phone ring until someone picked up.

"Hello?" the voice asked.

"Yo Miroku it's me, sup?"
"Inuyasha? Shouldn't you be doing your homework? You know, the project for history is due on Tuesday." Inuyasha sighed, he never forgotten about the project. "I did most of them, I'll finish the project later. I'm so fucking bored, what the hell are you doing now?"

"I'm doing my homework, like a good little boy, unlike-" Inuyasha heard Miroku cough through the phone. "some people like you Inu." "Ah shut up Miroku, who are you? My conscience? Feh!" And with that he hanged up. Inu flopped down onto his bed again. Now what time is it? 8:48PM… Inuyasha groaned, this is going to be one looooong night.

Inuyasha rubbed his eyes. When did the room suddenly become so dark? He got up and stretched his arms. "What time is it?" He asked to no one in particular. As he slowly made his way to find his clock during the dark, he could faintly read the numbers written on it. 4:13AM (that's what time it is at my place right now -_-) Inuyasha froze, its 4:13AM. It seemed like time had stopped for awhile before Inuyasha rushed out through the door and in the direction of the river. When he got there, the little girl was laying on her back staring at the stars.

"You're late Inu, What's up?" She asked without moving her gaze from the pretty stars.

"Not much, how about you Kagome?" He waited for her to answer, if she answers with no problem, then she's Kagome. `but we shall see wont we now?' "Being bored as usually, but the stars tonight are pretty." "AHA! I knew it!" Inuyasha ran over to the little girl and smiled. "You're Kagome." The little girl froze, how did he know that? "Wha-what do you mean I-Inuyasha?" She said stuttering and slurring her words together. "W-who's this Ka-Go-Me girl?" Inuyasha's eyes narrowed, "You can't fool me. I know it already. You're Kagome. ADMIT IT!!!" Kagome cringed at the tone of his voice. He knew she was lying.

She sighed, what to do now… <Tell him the truth, you said you trusted him.> `Fine… I guess so, I doubt I can dodge this bullet.' She took a deep breath and sat up. She looked at Inuyasha and blushed a bit. The kiss was still occupying her mind. She shook her head vigorously before looking at Inuyasha. "But… how did you-" "You left to many clues girl, the pendant, remember the story in class? Oh and I also saw you disappearing today when you left my house." Kagome sighed, did she really leave that many clues? `Boy, I must really suck.' <You do. Everyone knew that.> `ah shut up, not like you are any better.' Kagome spat to her conscience.

"Ok… so now what? You know my secret and you also know my past, what else do you want to know lord Inuyasha?" She asked. "Tell me his name." Kagome stared at him, what was he talking about? "Who do you mean Inuyasha?" "The boy who killed you 4 years ago. What was his name?" Kagome looked away, the painful memories came flowing back like a huge wave crashing down on her. Each hit was intense and sore. She had almost made it through the whole day without thinking about her past. And once those words left Inuyasha's mouth, she felt like crying again. She took a deep breath and stared at the river splashing around. "His… name was Sonaki. But I'm pretty sure it wasn't his real name, he being a spy and all…" Kagome's head lower as she started trembling. "How could I have been so stupid? I knew he was a spy, but I was too stubborn to admit it. I didn't want to believe it, I tried to convince myself it was just a misunderstanding." Silent sobs were heard again. Inuyasha sighed, it seemed like no matter what he did, her past still haunts her. He rubbed her back in a circular motion, trying to calm her crying down as much as possible. Her tears and cries made him feel so helpless. Like there wasn't anything that he could do. As if she was trapped by some mysterious force not permitting anyone to come to help her. Inuyasha face softened, she was trapped by a force, and there really was nothing he could do to help except try to comfort her.

Kagome turned to face Inuyasha and dug her face into his shirt. Loud muffled cries were still heard as Kagome grabbed a handful is Inuyasha's shirt as she clamed down a bit. Breathing heavily, she rested her cheek on his chest and closed her eyes. She felt protected and safe and didn't feel like moving from the spot she was in. Inuyasha heard that she had clamed down and stopped crying, he wanted to ask her something but was too afraid she'll break down into tears again. He took his hands and placed it on her cheeks and pulled her away from his shirt to see her eyes. Big teary sapphire stared back at him. Numerous emotions flowed in and out of her eyes. Some he couldn't decipher. He sighed and smiled softly at the little girl. "It's ok, it's not like you can forget in a day or day right? It will take a while for the wound to close up and you'll be free again. And while you're healing, I'll stay by you to keep you company." Kagome smile slightly, his words touched her heart greatly and it felt as if life was being to fill her again. All those years, those four long years she had felt so empty, so… un loved and here she was, feeling alive once again from a boy she had meet not to long ago. `Could this be how love really was supposed to be? Makes you feel all warm inside.' She thought with a smile. "Thanks Inuyasha, you don't know how much it means to me." Kagome hugged Inuyasha who did the same. Enjoying each other's company for awhile. Until it was really late and Inuyasha had to leave. They said their good bye and left for the night. Too bad for them that they didn't realize that someone was watching them…

"So all along she was still alive…. And I thought she was dead for good. Seems like someone didn't finish their job…" said a voice from behind Inuyasha's cottage. He had been passing by when he heard people talking and decided to see who it was. He had overheard their talk. He slowly walked away, thinking about what exactly he saw and what he should do about it. "It seems like I have to go tell someone right now… tell him that… Kagome is still alive."

Inuyasha looked towards one side of his wall as he got into his room to sleep. He could have sworn he had heard something, or someone? He was also pretty sure he heard someone mentioning Kagome. He shook his head; it must have been his imagination. "God… I think the lack of sleep has really affected my brain." And with that, Inuyasha flipped off the switch and went to bed.

The next day, Inuyasha woke up to someone knocking on his door. He grumbled and got up to answer it. "What do you want?" he asked, angry that someone had woken him up so early in the morning. Strangely, it was Sesshoumaru who had knocked. `Now want does he want?' Inuyasha thought. He opened the door to see is "half" brother already dressed and wide awake. "What do you want Sess? It's early in the morning and you usually don't care what time I wake up. So what do you want?" Sesshoumaru sighed. "I knew my idiotic brother wouldn't remember. Today is Rin's birthday party or have you really forgotten?" Inuyasha went silent, he did forget, but telling that to Sess wasn't one of the best ideas. "Of course I remember dumbass." Inuyasha lied turning his head away. "But why did you wake me up so early? Her party is in the afternoon." Sess sighed and shook his head. "There's something called you forgetting to buy Rin a present, so I'm waking you up earlier so you can do some last minute shopping with Miroku."

"Keh, is that all you came for?" He turned to face his older brother only to find him gone. "Fine… whatever Sess." Inuyasha closed the door and picked up his phone. The person on the other line picked up too.

"Hello? This is Miroku."
"Yo, Miroku, about Rin's birthday present…"

~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Miroku and Inuyasha went out not too long ago and quickly bought a gift for Rin.

"So Sesshoumaru woke you up too?" Miroku asked, yawning a bit. "No shit… stupid guy, luckily some stores are opened at 7AM. God, if I went out to find all the stores closed I'll…"

"But there was still some stores opened at this time." Miroku replied. "Besides, it's only like…" He stared at his watch, "7:31AM, not bad, I kind of expected us t take longer to buy something for Rin."

"30 minutes is a lot already." Inuyasha snorted, "When I get back, I'm going back to bed. No matter what anyone says." Miroku smirked, "Oh… then what happens if someone like… oh I don't know Kagome visits you. Will you ignore her and stay in bed?" Inuyasha froze in his tracks, but quickly continue walking. "Keh, it's not like she's going to visit anyways." Miroku smiled mentally as he stood there. `He didn't say he would kick her out, he must really like her.' Inuyasha stopped walking again and turned around to face Miroku, who was behind him in like a few meters. "Oi! You coming or what? I don't have all day you know!" Not waiting any longer, Inu continued walking without Miroku. "Hey, wait up Inuyasha, can't a guy think for a few minutes?"

Inuyasha finally got home and flopped down onto his bed. He needed more sleep. He had left the river around at 5:30AM and went to bed. Only to be woken up by his idiotic brother an hour and a half earlier. He sighed, if he didn't get enough sleep, he wasn't sure if he could stay up to last Rin's party and she would seriously kill him if he slept through her party. Well.. more like his brother will kill him for sleeping through her party. But all in all, he needed more sleep. He dropped Rin's present on the ground and went to bed.

After awhile, he heard his aunt calling for him. Grumbling he got up and walked out of his room. "What is it Mukire?" "There's someone looking for you Inu dear. Please come down and greet our guest. Inuyasha groaned, he didn't feel like moving, he still needed more sleep. Lazily he walked down the stairs and towards his aunt Mukire. Yawning, he rubbed his eyes. "Ok, where is he? Who's at the door?" Inuyasha asked tiredly.

"Where is he? How do you know, it could have been a she." Kagome step up so Inuyasha could see her clearly. "My Inuyasha, I didn't except you to be asleep at this time. Don't you think you be ready for Rin's party hm?" Inuyasha blinked, why was Kagome here? And here during this time of day?

"Ka-Kagome? Why are you at my place at." He looked at the clock and froze for a few seconds. "12:32PM…" He didn't expect to sleep in so late. Rin's party was about to start soon too and he didn't want to think about what would happen if he was late… "Oh shit, I almost-" "Inuyasha!!! What did I say about swearing?" His aunt scowled at him. "Uh… that I'm not supposed to say fuck and some other words in front of kids? But I don't see any right now Mukire." Inuyasha replied lamely. Mukire glared at him evilly and Inuyasha gulped. Kagome laughed a bit, here she was seeing Inuyasha getting scolded like a little boy. "Come on Inuyasha, we better get a move on or we'll be late for Rin's party." Inuyasha nodded and ran upstairs to get changed while Kagome and Mukire had a quiet chat. Kagome smiled to herself. `This place seems nice and homey, just like it was four years ago…' She sighed a bit. `But, it was all in the past, and I must move on and figure out how to get into the afterlife.' Kagome froze, what if she couldn't move on to the after life. What if she was stuck here forever? A smile curled up onto her lips. `If I were to be stuck here forever, then I might as well be stuck here with my friends and Inuyasha.'
