Now! Introducing chapter 8! I apologize for the length of time between this post and the last…it was never my intention to leave any of my faithful reviewers hanging. To make my amends, I’ll get on with the writing! YAY!

A.N: I do not own Inuyasha… but you should have seen the dream I had involving him, Sesshoumaru, and a pit of Jell-O jigglers. They were red Jell-O jigglers… Sesshy was wearing a bow…I’ll let you guess where he was wearing it… and Inu had one of those little umbrellas that come in alcoholic beverages…O_o

No one guessed where my last quote was from…This saddens me. So sad. (Breaks out Crying) *Muse* You should all be ashamed of yourselves… making her cry! She’s real sensitive you know!? (Pats the Neko_Chaos on the back consolingly.)

- They fell sideways slowly and laid that way for a while. Kagome pulled away from him slightly and turned to look at the animalistic Inuyasha, Only it wasn’t the animalistic Inuyasha behind her. It was a black haired human man! -

Inuyasha locked his violet eyes with Kagomes’ brown orbs. He watched as emotions flashed across her face. Shock, confusion, anger, lust, embarrassment, and finally some thing infinitely soft that was quickly hidden as she lowered her eyes from his. Guilt sung through his veins and he sat up never looking away from her. “Kagome?” He started in a rough voice. “Gomen…gomen nasai… I didn’t mean to force you…Please believe me…I never wanted to hurt you!”

He started feeling frantic the longer her silence continued. His heart was on the verge of shattering when she brought her gaze up to meet his once again. Her beautiful eyes where surrounded by crystalline tears. The pain in his chest was great. ’She hates me now…’
Kagome flung herself into his arms and wrapped hers tightly around his neck. Her body trembled in his arms and he didn’t dare hope for her forgiveness. “ Thank you.” was whispered into the shell of his ear. Warmth exploded in his chest at those simple words and he pulled her away from him so he could see her face again.

Tear of her apparent happiness where leaking down her reddened cheeks. She pulled her locks from the nape of her neck and showed him his mark. “Would this be here if I hadn’t wanted you Koi?” Inuyahsa took in a quick breath at the sight before his eyes. There for all the world to see was he final mating mark. A small red crescent moon comparable to the one on her thigh, entwined with a purple rose. Seeing this made his heart soar. She accepted him!

Kagome was basking in the light of happiness in his eyes when pain engulfed her whole form. “Inu…what’s happening?” She gasped out in pain. Inuyasha looked at her in shock. She was human and he was half…their mating should not have had any adverse affects. ‘I wonder if she’s changing some what…gaining some youkai traits?’

“When Youkai mate with humans… normally the human will take on some youkai traits… I didn’t think we would have to worry about it as I’m only half. I-I…” Inuyasha stuttered through his explanation. Kagome doubled over in pain once more and Inuyasha took her in his arms as she rode the waves of pain.

“What… do you think …will happen… to me?” She ground out between her teeth. Inuyasha shook his head. He truly had no idea. He felt so useless as he sat there, unable to take her pain away. After some time her trembling ceased and her body began to glow a light purple. It didn’t hurt him and for that he was grateful. Kagome’s head fell backwards onto his shoulder and her mouth was hanging open. He saw her canines sharpen slightly. Her ivory ears became pointed, not unlike his brothers.

Other then that, the only other change he could find was in her aura. Her miko aura now had a faint feeling of youkai in it as well. “Mmmmm Inuyasha… you smell yummy.” Kagome stated in a husky voice as she quickly turned in his embrace and touched her nose to his pulse point, drawing in several small breaths, taking in his scent. “Like oak and rain drops…’ So saying she licked up the line of his artery to the lobe of his ear. He groaned in the back of his throat. “Ka…gome…”

Suddenly she stiffened. “Wha-?” Was all he got out before she was on her feet.

“The sword! I can’t believe we just left it there! We need to go back there and get it now…before it’s to late!” Kagome danced around the cave looking for her cloths…she tripped into her sweat pants and was looking around for a shirt when she remembered hers was in shreds. And no longer anywhere near her. She picked up Inuyasha’s bottoms and tossed them to him.

“Settle down Kagome… We’ll get to the shrine in time, the swords not goin’ anywhere.” He said, confidence abundant in his tone. He dressed and followed Kagome from the cave once again ducking as the exit came into view, as the passage was getting smaller. A couple yards from the entrance he turned to look at the cave once more to remember where it was so they could come here once more, and it was no longer there…There wasn’t even a hill! He shook his head and caught up with his mate. That sounded nice…Mate.

“Soon…soon it will be time, and I will have what I seek. Every thing is going so well. Kanna. Show me.” The cold cruel voice called out to the only other inhabitant in the room. The white youkai walk up to her creator and brought forth the miko in her mirror. Even though she was the void, she couldn’t help but feel sad for the girl that had gained her masters attention. Crimson eyes watched the Inu-hanyou penetrate the miko and a cold hand squeezed a small thigh covered in white silk…

Kagome waltzed from the woods, Inuyasha in tow, only to see her brother placing wards around the sword covered in her blood. Her eyes also witnessed her mother performing death rites over her grandfathers prone body. “Mama…” Kagome croaked out as she ran to her mother. “Gramps!”

“Kagome…It’s alright…he died an honorable death, protecting his family. He wouldn’t have asked Kami for more…” She said quietly, then whipped at her nose and sniffled. Kagome knelt down by her grandfather and took him into her arms…He was no longer warm…Her tears fell onto his face and his body began to glow and was surrounded by small glowing purple dots… Slowly he faded from view and the shikon glowed brightly for a moment and dimmed back down.

Souta walked up to his sister holding a black sheath. “Gramps has been polishing this since the day you left… I think you should use it for that sword…” He said as he held it out for her. Kagome looked at it, and nodded.

“Inuyasha…it’s yours’…please take the sheath.” With a solemn expression he took the sheath and walked over the rusty sword on the ground and bent to pick it up… There was a slight electric crackle that died down quickly when he picked it up and sheathed it. As soon as Soutas hands where free, he took off the outer part of his robes and placed them around his sisters shaking arms to cover her bareness.

“I’m sorry Mama… I’m sorry for bringing this trouble to you… if I hadn’t been given to you… none of this would have ever happened…” Kagome was openly crying now…She got up and seemed like she was going to run…But all the emotion from the day seemed to catch up with her all at once and she fell side ways like she was in slow motion. Inuyasha caught her with a speed astonishing for his human condition.

“Bring her inside Inuyasha, and lay her down.” Was all Mama -Higurashi said with tears in her eyes.

(Kagomes’ Dream?)

She was back in that dark place again…At least here she didn’t have to remember. The cold of the void was interrupted by what seemed like warm arms wrapping around her. “Kagome.” Her eyes shot open. There was her grandfather! Looking slightly see through, but otherwise there. “Gramps! But…you where dead!”

He smiled down at her and she could hear him speak again, though his mouth did not move. “ I have passed child… The jewel brought me here to see you one last time. I wanted to tell you that I don’t blame you for any thing that has happened. You were a constant bright star in your mother and I’s life. And when you had Shippo, you added another star to our world. All the bad things that have happened are nothing compared to the joy you have given us. Always remember that. Even when things are at their darkest… there is a light of hope. Please say good bye to your mother and brother for me and tell them that I love them. Also tell your demon that if he hurts you… I’ll come back just for him!”

He grandfather began to fade once again and Kagome tried to hold him to her. “No! Gramps…don’t leave me, I need you…” She broke down into almost silent whimpers of, “Why…why…”

“Because, Child of our line, this is what happens time and time again… no matter how hard we try to prevent it. You always end up getting hurt because of us.” Said a weird echo voice Kagome remembered.

“But… I don’t understand… He said he didn’t want you…” She said in a weak defeated voice.

“This is something new, and perhaps fortunate for all of us. His interests seem to have shifted to something new his time around. We have been paying attention… We believe he wants the fang that you are protecting.”

Kagome frowned. “But… who else is there to wield another sword… Inutashio never told me to whom it was supposed to go.”

The jewel was silent for a moment and then spoke once more. “We are not sure who the wielder is either… But as to not risk your life with another extraction, we will make it possible to bring it forth with out it having to be pulled out of you. After you wake, should you meet a worthy wielder, just reach your right hand over your left shoulder, clasp your hand as though the hilt it there, and pull. This sword, however, will come out of it’s dimension still sheathed…Do not…We repeat…DO NOT unsheathe it. That it for the wielder to do.”

Kagome nodded her head in understanding. She closed her eyes and rested in the comforting presence of the jewels aura. When next she opened her eyes they meet the worried golden pools of her mates eyes. “ Morning love.” She said with a small smile as she was hugged to his still bare chest.

“Kagome, I love you… and I don’t want you to worry to much because it’s probably nothing…but we haven’t been able to call Sangos’ place since you passed out.” He said with a quite voice. Kagome shot up from her prone position.

“What? How long have I been out? A couple hours?” She asked it a voice that was quickly becoming distraught.

Inuyasha shook his head, “No…you’ve been out a couple of days…”
Kagome paled immediately and tried to surge to her feet, only to topple over and be caught by her mate. “Take it easy love… we’ll leave as soon as your dressed and have had food… you’ve not eaten in days.”

Inuyasha didn’t really think she would listen to him in the state she was in. But she calmed at his touch and nodded her head. He helped her clean her self up and dressed her in her priestess robes. Then helped her down stairs where her mother and brother were currently making breakfast… They ate as quickly as they could and left, just the two of them amidst protests from her family.

The scene they arrived at was one they had never wanted to have to see. The barrier was gone…and there was fire and smoke and rubble as far as the eye could see… “Shippo…” Was all Inuyasha heard before his mate dashed from his lax grip and was gone in the smoke before he could even call her name….
