Chapter 9
(Kagome’s POV)
The moment her eyes fell onto the scene of destruction before her, bile rose in her throat and her lungs almost stopped working. She felt Inuyasha’s hand go slack and she dashed off into the obscuring smoke… She could smell death every where. She silently cursed her new youkai abilities…Well at least the one that let her inhale all the scents of blood and excrement that generally followed this kind of mass destruction. Her son was in here and she would stop at nothing to find him. She stretched out her awareness and searched for any familiar aura’s.
She could feel Inuyasha’s slightly scared, worried, and angry aura coming slowly behind her, yet still far away. She could feel a rather powerful aura to the South West that had the feeling of cold rage. Sesshoumaru. And to the North East, she could feel an aura that was more then just evil, it was sick and made her feel as though she would never be happy, but always cold and alone. Naraku. She shuddered and stopped for a moment, looking at the ground. Resolving herself she looked up and straight ahead of herself, a new hardness in her eyes.
She squared her shoulders and pointed her feet North East. This would be the final show down. Naraku would go down this day for hurting her family…or she would die trying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~`
She made her way through the wreckage and saw pieces of familiar things… A ribbon she’s seen an a little hanyou girls hair, a deflated kicking ball, and a bike wheel. Worst of all the things she saw, where the hands or feet sticking out from under piles of rubble. Closer and closer she got to the place where Sango’s house once stood. All the while feeling Inuyasha’s frustration at not being able to find her by scent because of all the blood and smoke.. He was using their bond as well as he could, but she was using concealing powers to keep him from the fight that would ensue. No one else would get hurt because of her… No one. She wasn’t strong enough. She wasn’t strong enough to lose any one else.
When she was about a block from Sango’s house a cloud of demon’s rained down from the sky, all intent on her. There where so many! A hundred at the very least. She felt Inuyasha’s worry increase tenfold. ‘He must have seen the demons, their going to give away my position to him!’ in the distance she heard, “Kaze No Kizu!” Shouted into the wind and her eyes widened as she promptly dropped to the ground just as a flash of power went over her head destroying every last one of the demons who where just in pursuit of her.
From her vantage point where she was getting quite friendly with the ground, she saw another image that she had never wanted to see in her life… The dead body of her best friend. Sango wasn’t just dead…her body was mangled, yet in a position that made it seem as though she was trying to protect the body of her Hoshi lover, who’s hands and head where missing. This time she couldn’t hold back the bile as it made it’s presence known to her mouth. As soon as she had dispelled the vile substance from her body, she rose and placed her hands together as if she was praying over them. Her body was engulfed in a purple flame and it shot up in a pillar around her about a hundred feet into the air. At it’s zenith, it started to spill outwards and fall down like a fountain, creating a large purple dome over the area.
Kagome could hear Inuyasha’s curse and smiled. He had just found her barrier. He would be safe on the out side where Naraku couldn’t reach him. Glancing once more at the bodies of her friends made her fear for her son rise to it’s utmost limits and she quickly walked on… She made her way to a still partially standing wall and peeked around it’s edge. There he was, in all his vile glory, tentacles and all. And there was Shippo. Knocked out, but still alive, and held aloft by his small paw, his prayer beads scattered and crushed near Naraku’s feet.
“Come out my Miko-whore. I know you are there. There’s no hiding your wonderful scent from me you little bitch! Come out or I’ll snap his scrawny neck…” As though to prove his point, he shook her limp child roughly. In turn Shippo moaned slightly and awoke groggily. Kagome stepped out from behind the wall at the sound her son made.
“Naraku!” She said in a hard voice that one wouldn’t expect from her. At her utterance Naraku turned slightly to look at her. His cruel eyes light in joy and he smirked evilly. “Let my son go!” She shouted, her voice becoming even louder.
“Now, now… I can’t do that, I would then lose my bargaining chip wouldn’t I? I mean, what would I get out of it?” He said silkily. Meanwhile Shippo was scrabbling at the tentacle that held him, trying to get away… He caught sight of his mother and cried out.
“Mama! Mama, you gotta get outta here!” He shouted and renewed his frantic efforts to get free. “Kitsune-Bi!” Shippo yelled and watched as his foxfire ineffectively burned at Naraku’s limb. Naraku chuckled and shook Shippo a little more to make him stop with his antics.
“What’s it going to be my little whore? Hmmm? Kukuku…” Naraku asked as if her choice was like choosing whether she should wear black panties or white.
If looks could kill, Naraku would be dead a hundred time over by now. Kagome took another step forward and looked up as if in thought. As she looked up she saw and felt her barrier shudder. Inuyasha! He was trying to get through. With that sword, he would be able to sooner or later, depending on how quick it took him to figure out how to learn that particular power… ‘This isn’t good, gotta think of something now…come on think…Think!’
Letting her shoulders drop in defeat she sighed, “Alright, I can’t handle this anymore…no more…What do you want Naraku? If it’s within my power to do so, I’ll give you what ever you want…just let my son go…let him leave here unharmed.” As she was talking, Kagome had continued to walk forward and when she reach about two yards from him, she got down on her knees and kept her head bent in submission.
“See now, that wasn’t so hard was it? You could have avoided all of this if you had let me get what I wanted from you from the start. But you didn’t give me a choice and I had to do it the hard way.” He said in a fake caring voice. He came to stand before her and cupped her chin in his frigid hand, turning her face up to his. Tears ran down her cheeks, coursing through the dirt that covered her face. He leaned toward her and his black locks fell over his pale shoulder. His lips brushed her ear and he whispered in a voice akin to the rattle of death. “Give me the sword. All I ever wanted was you and the sword…”
Kagome held in her shudder. He wanted the Sou’unga. Kagome was stuck. Giving him that sword was not a good thing, but on the other hand, he would let her son go. Her choice was made for her. Taking in a shallow breath, she backed up a bit and swallowed nervously. “Alright, I give you the sword, you let my son go. Do we have a deal?” She asked in a quiet voice.
Naraku grinned maliciously, “Of course my dear…” Kagome sighed and reached over her shoulder and got into her kneeling position once more, then pulled her hand up and forward as if she was taking an actual sword from her back. She saw the delight in his crimson eyes grow ever brighter as more and more of the sheath appeared. Finally the sword was in this dimension. ‘Definitely prefer this method to the whole pulling it outta my stomach thing.’ She thought to herself as she presented him with the hilt.
Just as she did so a red flash washed over her barrier and rendered it in two, and made it dissipate. ‘Inuyasha No!!’ She shouted mentally to herself. A hand grabbing the hilt of the third sword brought her back to reality. Naraku’s evil chuckle grew, and the sword sung as it was pulled from it’s resting place. Kagome felt the evil pulsing from the fang as it was taken from it’s saya. This time she didn’t hesitate to conceal her shudder. It’s evil aura was a palpable thing and almost stupefying.
She watched as his hand tightened around the hilt and he lifted his arm up and pointed the tip of the sword towards the sky, and the orb at the end of the hilt was parallel with the ground. “Kukuku.. Ultimate power is now mine. I have Sou’unga and the Miko!” He shouted out in apparent glee. ( I’m The Pan now! Hehehe…sorry wrong story.) His happy chuckles came to a sudden halt as miniature tentacles, very like his own larger ones, ate their way into the skin of his hand. He let out a scream and tried to rip the tentacles out of himself, but they grew back rapidly and in greater numbers until his hand and arm looked like a writhing mass of pink rat tails.
He screamed one final time and slumped forward. At this moment Shippo was released from his grasp and as soon as he hit the ground he was sticking to his mother like white on rice. “Go Shippo…get out of here…please, I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to you.” She whispered and nuzzled his neck right beneath his tiny chin.
“But Mama, we’re supposed to fight the bad guy together! I’m your Knight ‘member? ‘Member Mama?” He cried out, bottom lip wavering, tears in his teal eyes.
“Not this time baby…get to Mama-baachans’ house as quick as you can for me, Ok? I’ll be fine, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru are here to help me.” As if to give credence to her words, Inuyasha called out to her from near by. “See?” She whispered, “Go…Now…Run!” Shippo’s tears ran free and so did his little feet, Kagome’s heart swelled as she watched him disappear into the smoke and rubble in the direction of his grand mothers shrine. Just then Inuyasha broke into the clearing and looked upon the scene. Kagome kneeling in submission at Naraku’s feet, and a rather evil feeling sword in his hand…or more a part of it. He’d never seen the sword before and wondered if this one came from inside of Kagome as well, and if so was she hurt again?
It was all he needed to take in at the moment, before he dashed forward in a blur and grabbed Kagome and then ran in the opposite direction. Kagome looked over his shoulder as Inuyasha retreated and saw as Naraku lifted his head. Blood red eyes met hers with purple irises, and puke green slashes of color adorned his cheeks and wrist. He snarled and growled out, “Bring back my whore, worthless Hanyou!”
Inuyasha promptly answered with a, “Not on your life Asshole!” and continued to run from that area.
“Inuyasha, I’ve gotta go back, I’ve gotta get that sword from him…” Inuyasha stopped at these words.
“Stop Kagome, Stop right there. I don’t want to hear it. That’s just some dumb sword…I don’t care what happens to it. I care what happens to You! He can have the fuckin’ thing if it means I can get you to safety.” He shouted at her, shaking her the whole while.
Kagome was openly crying now. “Inu…Inu…onigai …Let me go back.”
Inuyasha sighed and set her down. “How ‘bout you stay right here, and I go get that sword from him, end his miserable existence and come back to you so we can live happily ever after with the runt?”
Kagome bowed her head so that her bangs covered her eyes. She was silent for a moment as though contemplating his words. Her hands clutched around the saya and she sighed. “Please come back to me… I’ll never forgive you if you don’t come back…”
Inuyasha grinned and pulled her into his embrace. “I love you Koi, of course I’ll come back.” Slowly his lips met hers. He could taste the tears on their softness. He made to pull away and she whimpered and pulled him closer until it was hard to tell where one began and the other ended. Their tongues held a battle for dominance, and breathing didn’t seem to matter. They where only aware of each other and almost missed the shouted, “GOKURYUHA!”
The earth around them trembled and they where both knocked over from a strong shock wave…The ground cracked open around them and they heard moans and creaks from under ground, then the smell hit them both… It was the smell of death, and blood, closing in around them. Out of the smoke they could see people moving towards them. People who where missing limbs, or where bent in odd shapes. The people that Naraku had killed. All of them where converging in on the huddled pair.
She watched as Inuyasha jumped to her defense and shuddered when each body he hit would disintegrate. But her couldn’t protect her from them all…eventually some got through his defenses and leapt for her. Only to be repelled by a white barrier that seemed to be coming from the saya she held. ‘Thank you saya-dono…’ She thought to herself and clutched the sheath tighter.
Inuyasha looked back at his mate and felt some relief that she was safe. “Stay there Kagome… I’m going to go take care of Naraku.” He shouted over the din made by the recently risen dead. Kagome nodded that she understood and watched with her heart in her throat as he hopped away. ‘I’ve gotta think of a way to get him away from Naraku…or protect him some how.’ She thought to her self. Some of the smoke and dust where clearing and she saw a battle underway between Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha and Naraku. The brothers both using their fathers fang, and Naraku using their fathers sword.
The blades where not meant to be used against each other… But only the two fangs used in tandem would be enough to take down the third sword. Each held sway over one of the three worlds. Sesshoumaru’s Tenseiga, had power over the spirit realm, able to bring creatures back to life and heal them. Inuyasha’s Tessiaga, had power over the human world, and could kill a hundred creatures as once. And then there was Sou’unga, She wouldn’t really call it Naraku’s sword, as he wasn’t the proper bearer. That sword held sway over the underworld. It could raise hundreds of recently dead bodies with it’s call, and spew forth devils from the blackest pits of hell.
At this point in the battle, Naraku was standing on a pillar of earth that had sprung up about forty feet into the air, with Inuyasha attacking him from below with his Kaze no Kizu, and Sesshoumaru sending dark blasts at him with another sword that she knew for a fact wasn’t Tenseiga. This wouldn’t do at all. She had to do something, or none of them where going to make it out of here. So once again she set off towards the source of most of her problems. Naraku.
Slowly at first, she made her way through the throng of dead bodies. All of them bouncing off the barrier produced by the saya. She came up to the battle from behind and amid the blasts from the various swords and more of the ground trembling and breaking up, began to climb the pillar that Naraku was using as a mid ground between the two attacking Inu-youkai. She was surprised that none of the combatants had noticed her yet, although she was thankful. Soon she was at the top and needed to get his attention. He had just blasted Inuyasha a good one and sent him flying into Sesshoumaru, almost knocking the stoic demon from the sky.
“Naraku!” She yelled out, loud enough for him to hear. He turned to her immediately with a glazed, slightly possessed look in his eyes. Kagome swallowed and stepped towards him. “You are so pathetic to let that sword control you. Just think. You don’t need it. Me and you, we could dominate this world. Just the two of us. Like you wanted.” As she was talking she was getting closer and closer to him. She could hear Inuyasha shouting to her in the background, telling her to stop, run away. Well she was through running.
Naraku had been growling at her the moment her heard her voice, but it settled down the more she talked to him. It seemed as though he was trying to think about her words through the blood rage the sword had forced on him. She could see the lust in his eyes and knew she almost had him. A tentacle sped out from his side and curled around her waist, bringing her flush against him… Kagome didn’t even struggle as she felt his hand all over her body. He still didn’t drop the sword. She looked up into his eyes and closed the distance between them. She pressed her lips to his as hard as she could, though he seemed to enjoy it that way. He pulled her closer, if that was even possible. Kagome could feel Inuyasha’s anger burning her through their mating mark.
‘Gomen love… I hope you’ll understand.’ She thought to her self, then brought her hands up to caress Naraku’s barely warm cheeks. Slowly dragging her fingertips down his neck, cupping his shoulders and running her palms down both of his arms, till her hands came in contact with his. All the while, keeping her lips locked with his. When he finally realized what she was doing it was to late. She gripped the hand with Sou’unga in it as hard as she could and wrapped her other arm around Naraku’s waist. Willing all the evil into herself with the lure of tainting something as pure as the Guardian and creation of , The Shikon No Tama.
She could feel tentacles piercing the flesh of her hand and could hear Naraku screaming, and could see bits of his skin coming off. And somewhere in the background she could feel the presence of the jewel comforting her. She smiled and grinned when she felt the tremendous evil that was once Naraku blend in with her pure soul, there where a few moments of conflict in which her body was engulfed in light purple and black flames. Only for them to merge into a dark purple…and indigo and flash outwards, sweeping the whole valley floor. Then her eyes became the blank color of dried dirt and she fell to the ground. The last things she heard where the clanking of metal on the ground and her love calling out to her, before her mind was shrouded in darkness once more.
A/N: What will happen next? Will Kagome be alright? Will she make it? And if so, what are the consequences of her actions? Did Shippo make it to Mama-Baachans’? Find out next time on KMATH…
Also. I just wanted to refer every one to a great fan fic. I’ve read it about 4 or 5 times myself. The title is The Lucky Ones, and the Author is Terri Botta (I believe I got the spelling right?) This is one of the BEST fanfics I’ve had the pleasure of reading ever since I started reading fan fics… I’ve even read it on two different sites! Hehe. Especially great if you like Inu/Kag pairings!
#3. I hope it doesn’t take as long for me to update again. Let me know what ya thought of this Chapter. I made it a little longer for you all… also I think I’ve only got one chapter left for this story until I deem it complete. Look for my new fanfics coming soon!
Kagome nodded that she understood and watched with her heart in her throat as he hopped away. ‘I’ve gotta think of a way to get him away from Naraku…or protect him some how.’ She thought to her self. Some of the smoke and dust where clearing and she saw a battle underway between Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha and Naraku. The brothers both using their fathers fang, and Naraku using their fathers sword.
The blades where not meant to be used against each other… But only the two fangs used in tandem would be enough to take down the third sword. Each held sway over one of the three worlds. Sesshoumaru’s Tenseiga, had power over the spirit realm, able to bring creatures back to life and heal them. Inuyasha’s Tessiaga, had power over the human world, and could kill a hundred creatures as once. And then there was Sou’unga, She wouldn’t really call it Naraku’s sword, as he wasn’t the proper bearer. That sword held sway over the underworld. It could raise hundreds of recently dead bodies with it’s call, and spew forth devils from the blackest pits of hell.
At this point in the battle, Naraku was standing on a pillar of earth that had sprung up about forty feet into the air, with Inuyasha attacking him from below with his Kaze no Kizu, and Sesshoumaru sending dark blasts at him with another sword that she knew for a fact wasn’t Tenseiga. This wouldn’t do at all. She had to do something, or none of them where going to make it out of here. So once again she set off towards the source of most of her problems. Naraku.
Slowly at first, she made her way through the throng of dead bodies. All of them bouncing off the barrier produced by the saya. She came up to the battle from behind and amid the blasts from the various swords and more of the ground trembling and breaking up, began to climb the pillar that Naraku was using as a mid ground between the two attacking Inu-youkai. She was surprised that none of the combatants had noticed her yet, although she was thankful. Soon she was at the top and needed to get his attention. He had just blasted Inuyasha a good one and sent him flying into Sesshoumaru, almost knocking the stoic demon from the sky.
“Naraku!” She yelled out, loud enough for him to hear. He turned to her immediately with a glazed, slightly possessed look in his eyes. Kagome swallowed and stepped towards him. “You are so pathetic to let that sword control you. Just think. You don’t need it. Me and you, we could dominate this world. Just the two of us. Like you wanted.” As she was talking she was getting closer and closer to him. She could hear Inuyasha shouting to her in the background, telling her to stop, run away. Well she was through running.
Naraku had been growling at her the moment her heard her voice, but it settled down the more she talked to him. It seemed as though he was trying to think about her words through the blood rage the sword had forced on him. She could see the lust in his eyes and knew she almost had him. A tentacle sped out from his side and curled around her waist, bringing her flush against him… Kagome didn’t even struggle as she felt his hand all over her body. He still didn’t drop the sword. She looked up into his eyes and closed the distance between them. She pressed her lips to his as hard as she could, though he seemed to enjoy it that way. He pulled her closer, if that was even possible. Kagome could feel Inuyasha’s anger burning her through their mating mark.
‘Gomen love… I hope you’ll understand.’ She thought to her self, then brought her hands up to caress Naraku’s barely warm cheeks. Slowly dragging her fingertips down his neck, cupping his shoulders and running her palms down both of his arms, till her hands came in contact with his. All the while, keeping her lips locked with his. When he finally realized what she was doing it was to late. She gripped the hand with Sou’unga in it as hard as she could and wrapped her other arm around Naraku’s waist. Willing all the evil into herself with the lure of tainting something as pure as the Guardian and creation of , The Shikon No Tama.
She could feel tentacles piercing the flesh of her hand and could hear Naraku screaming, and could see bits of his skin coming off. And somewhere in the background she could feel the presence of the jewel comforting her. She smiled and grinned when she felt the tremendous evil that was once Naraku blend in with her pure soul, there where a few moments of conflict in which her body was engulfed in light purple and black flames. Only for them to merge into a dark purple…and indigo and flash outwards, sweeping the whole valley floor. Then her eyes became the blank color of dried dirt and she fell to the ground. The last things she heard where the clanking of metal on the ground and her love calling out to her, before her mind was shrouded in darkness once more.
Also. I just wanted to refer every one to a great fan fic. I’ve read it about 4 or 5 times myself. The title is The Lucky Ones, and the Author is Terri Botta (I believe I got the spelling right?) This is one of the BEST fanfics I’ve had the pleasure of reading ever since I started reading fan fics… I’ve even read it on two different sites! Hehe. Especially great if you like Inu/Kag pairings!
#3. I hope it doesn’t take as long for me to update again. Let me know what ya thought of this Chapter. I made it a little longer for you all… also I think I’ve only got one chapter left for this story until I deem it complete. Look for my new fanfics coming soon!
