Author’s Note

Hello there!! ^^ This is my first ever real fanfiction uploaded onto the internet. I’ve been searching for a good Kagome x Kouga site where I could possibly upload the fanfiction but surprisingly, there are none. Isn’t there anybody out there who enjoys the coupling as well as I do?

I am a new author, but remember my name because you will be seeing it a lot in the future! I’ve decided to start my fanfiction career with something different and provocative. Let’s see how I do…

Chapter One: The Epilogue

The wind rushed past him, pushing his bangs back and whipping his long dark ponytail against his back as he ran. Kouga’s determination was set on his handsome features. His jaw was locked shut, but his lips parted revealing dangerously sharp fangs. With each light step, Kouga’s speed increased.

Fueled by his motivation, Kouga’s long strides turned to leaps as he neared that oh so familiar scent of spring and Azalea blossoms. He had to catch her before it was too late. He inwardly cursed the hanyou that traveled with Kagome Higurashi. Because Inuyasha was constantly on the run, it was actually quite difficult to come across the entourage.

“Kouga, wait up!!” called the desperate comrades that followed after their Youkai leader. Kouga glanced quickly over his shoulder at the two distant figures chasing behind him. Hakakku and Ginta. Kouga rolled his eyes and continued straight ahead, sniffing the air as he sprinted.

Followed by a whirlwind of sand and dirt, Kouga had found it difficult to see. He managed the find the group through Kagome’s distinctive scent. When he came across them, he tried to stop abruptly, causing him to slide a couple of feet further than intended. This caused some sand to rise up into Inuyasha’s face. Kouga watched the hanyou sneeze amusedly.

“What… the… hell!?” Inuyasha spat out through his coughing and gagging, placing a hand on the hilt of his Tetsusaiga.

Kouga decided to leave the agitated hanyou to himself while he savored in the delectable scent that was Kagome. She stared up at him with wide innocent eyes. Her hair draped over her shoulders like a midnight curtain cascading over her face and blending nicely with her reddened cheeks.

“Hello, Kouga.” She greeted, timidly as he smirked down at her, “How have you been?”

Kagome grinned, glad to have such a considerate woman all to himself... or at least almost all to himself…

“What the hell does it matter?” Inuyasha shouted, as soon as he had pulled himself together. The Tetsusaiga was drawn from its sheath, and positioned onto the ground readily before Kouga, “You’d better apologize, Wolf Boy.”

Kouga gritted his teeth and shook a fist towards Inuyasha. “Oh?” he taunted, with a grimace, “And if I refuse?”

Inuyasha’s angry frown curled upward into a mischievous grin as he raised the sword over his head and prepared to lunge at Kouga, “Then I’ll chop you to pieces!”

Kouga quickly leapt to the side, dodging Inuyasha’s blade easily and chuckled somewhat at the disgruntled hanyou. “A bit too slow, mutt.” He mocked as Inuyasha growled and pulled the Tetsusaiga from the ground, “I think Kagome needs a real man. Not some lovesick puppy that is only capable of recklessly swinging his sword around.”

Speaking of Kagome… “Sit!”

Kouga’s smirk only widened as he stared down at the half demon, his face buried within the ground. Inuyasha let out a low agonize groan before Kagome ran over to stand in between the men.

She watched disapprovingly as Inuyasha pulled himself to his feet, supporting his weight on his sword which was wedged into the dirt. Inuyasha growled slightly before asking, “Why the hell did you do that, Kagome?”

She glared angrily and Inuyasha then at a smirking Kouga, causing the wolf Youkai’s grin to fade. “Both of you are so childish.” She chastised, “Can’t you guys just try to get along?”

Inuyasha looked away, begrudgingly, like a child being scolded by his mother. “He started it,” he mumbled, “He’s always showing up and flirting with you…”

Kagome huffed and placed her hands on her hips. Kouga wasn’t sure whether the apparent blush on her cheeks was because of Inuyasha’s comment or because of her annoyance. “That’s no excuse, Inuyasha.” She scolded, “Now say that you’re sorry.”

Inuyasha opened his mouth to protest, but Kagome cut him off quickly. He looked to the ground, then glanced irritably towards Kouga and grumbled, “I apologize.”

Kouga’s smirk was renewed as he watched the pride flee from the mumbling hanyou. Kagome smiled, satisfied, and turned to face Kouga. “Good.” She said, sweetly, “You’re turn, Kouga. Accept Inuyasha’s apology and say sorry yourself.”

Kouga’s eyes widened dramatically. “I…I…” he stuttered, “But, Kagome, I…”

Her sweet smile quickly turned to a grimace that caused Kouga’s hairs to stand up on end. He smiled innocently.

“Inuyasha, I accept your apology,” he said, quickly, “Now I would like to apologize.”

It was Inuyasha’s turn to smirk. Kagome smiled happily and took both men by the hand, causing both hanyou and wolf Youkai to stiffen. “Now was that so hard?” she asked, with a melodic giggle, “As long as Naraku is still on the run, we must work together as allies.”

Kouga couldn’t help but agree with that. Defeating Naraku would be a lot easier hadn’t Inuyasha been in his way constantly. How could he concentrate on one enemy while he was always worrying about another?

Kagome snaked an arm around Kagome’s waist and drew her nearer to him, making her gasp and blush a pretty shade of pink. “Wow, Kagome,” Kouga said in admiration, “I’m glad my woman is so smart. Without you what would I do?”

Kagome frowned and pulled away from his embrace hastily. “What am I going to do with you?” she asked, dryly, “For once, get this through your mind; I’m not your woman, Kouga!”

Kouga sighed and looked away. “Fine, whatever.” He played along with her, “but what if Inuyasha starts a fight with me, Kagome?”

“Then I could always just sit him.” Kagome explained, ignoring the loud thud behind her. Kouga smirked and Kagome just stared up at Kouga clueless.

“Kagome,” Kouga said taking one of her soft hands in his own, “One day you will realize that I’m not that bad of a guy…”

“I already know that…” Kagome admitted softly, “Kouga, I just… don’t have romantic feelings for you. I’m so sorry, but it’s time to give it a rest.” Inuyasha managed to pull himself from the ground, quivering in agony.

Before the hanyou could yell at Kagome for accidentally saying sit, the group was interrupted by Hakakku and Ginta as they finally arrived. Drenched in sweat and panting for air, Hakakku and Ginta stood breathlessly to glare at Kouga.

“Oh, hello, Hakakku and Ginta,” Kagome greeted them politely, “Why don’t you two sit down?”

Another thud behind Kagome finally caught her attention. She turned slowly and her eyes widened to see Inuyasha flat on the ground. She gasped as realization dawned upon her and backed away slowly. Inuyasha pulled himself up shakily and glared daggers at Kagome, who in return smiled sheepishly and continued to back away.

“Why, I ought to...” Inuyasha began furiously, but was cut off when Kouga stepped in front of Kagome protectively.

“You ought to what, half breed?” Kouga asked through gritted teeth, “You’d better not be threatening my Kagome.”

Kouga couldn’t maintain his argument with Inuyasha long enough before Kagome once again cut in and scolded the two men as if they were children. Moments after that, Kouga found himself seated in a semi-circle with Kagome and her group of human friends. Inuyasha sat in a nearby tree with a scowl on his face as Kouga spoke with them.

“So you’d like to stay with us, Kouga?” Kagome asked, with a delighted smile on her face.

“Sure thing.” Kouga smiled charmingly at Kagome, and placed a hand on hers, “How can I trust that hanyou to protect you all on his own?”

“I’ve done it up to now, Kouga!” Inuyasha shouted angrily from his tree, “What the hell have you done for Kagome!? Besides, what makes you think you’re welcome to travel with us?”

“Kagome needs more than a protector, Mutt!” Kouga shouted back, “She needs to be taken care of like a Hime. The last thing Kagome needs is to be hurt by the likes of you, again.”

“I’d never hurt Kagome!” Inuyasha shouted in protest.

“Why don’t you tell that to your undead lover, Inuyasha?!” Kouga asked, with an accusing finger pointed the hanyou’s way.

“Sure thing,” Inuyasha snapped, “Right after you explain it to your FIANCÉ!”

“Ayame is not my fiancé!” Kouga howled in frustration. Kagome shook her head in her hands and sighed. There was just no taming these two…

“Kouga!’ she finally shouted, getting the attention of the two, “We would love for you to join us. The more the merrier, I always say.” Kouga nodded his head and smiled at Kagome before she shoved his hands away, “But I must insist you keep your hands to yourself.”

And that is the first chapter, or shall I say… epilogue. It’s not perfect, but what story is? Short-ish, I know. Sorry. Please just review. My first fanfiction so take it easy on me!!
