Miko Training and Surprises
Kagome’s Dream
“Midoriko! Why are you here? I have so many questions to ask you.” Kagome was very confused. ‘Shouldn’t she be in the jewel? I could be seeing things.’ Midoriko smiled at her. “I am here to train you and answer your questions. I am also here to discuss some things with you.” Kagome was even more confused now. “You want to train me? Grandpa would go nuts if her knew I was going to be trained by you.” She smiled at the thought of her grandpa. ‘He’d also go nuts to know that the legendary Midoriko visited my dreams. Momma would have had fun talking to her if she could have met her.’
“You wonder why you feel so empty even if you are surrounded by your friends. You need to recover the Shikon and the part of your soul that Kikyo stole from you.” Kagome looked confused for a while then she thought of the right words to say. “I know I have to find the shards but aren’t I Kikyo’s reincarnation? She always says I have her soul and she wants it back.” Midoriko laughed and shook her head. “Oh no Kagome. You aren’t Kikyo’s reincarnation, you are my reincarnation and the jewel in it’s purest form. The jewel is a part of you and that is one reason that you feel so empty. You also have the powers of the demon that was sealed in the jewel with me.”
‘I’m not Kikyo’s reincarnation? Then why does she want my soul? I don’t get this at all.. Instead of being Kikyo’s reincarnation I’m Midoriko’s reincarnation and the jewel itself in human form? I also have the powers of the youkai that was sealed in the jewel as well? I have so many questions now…I need to learn more about what I am.’
“He has elemental and shadow powers. His curiosity always got the best of him and he fought me during my final battle and was sealed in with me. You aren’t a youkai but your not a human neither. You also aren’t a hanyou.” This confused Kagome even more. “If I’m not a youkai, human, or hanyou, what am I?” Kagome made two comfortable chairs appear by thinking about them. They sat down and Midoriko continued what she was saying. “You are an immortal. The power of the jewel transformed you to this.” Kagome was shocked at what she just heard. “I’m immortal? What will happen to Souta? I don’t want to watch him die.” Kagome didn’t want to lose the only family that she had left. She would do anything to have her brother stay alive as long as he could.
“He will not die anytime soon. He is the reincarnation of my brother and the jewel also turned him into an immortal as well.” She got up and walked over to Kagome and placed two fingers on the middle of her forehead. All of Midoriko’s abilities and how to use them were revealed and Kagome knew that she could now use them because she was her reincarnation. Midoriko removed her fingers and waited for Kagome to come out of her daze. Kagome’s eyes refocused and Midoriko saw that three blue diamonds appeared where she just touched. Kagome’s hair lengthened, her skin paled to a creamy white, a black and silver fighting hakama and haori appeared on her and her eyes lightened to an icy blue.
“Your appearance has changed Kagome. If you want to see what you look like now, there is a mirror behind me.” Kagome got up and walked behind her. She looked into the full length mirror and gasped as she saw her reflection. ‘That’s me? I look so different! At least I don’t look like Kikyo. I look a little bit like Riko but I look different too.’
“You look like me a little bit because you are my reincarnation. You also look different because the jewel has changed you as well.”
Kagome turned around and gasped as she felt the enormous power within her. ‘I can feel the power surging in me. Whatever Midoriko just did, somehow I know how to control it. I just need to know how to bring the power out. Maybe that’s what Midoriko wants to train me on….’
“That’s exactly what I’m going to train you on first, Kagome. Then, we are going to work on your swordsmanship. You will catch on easy because you have my abilities. They will have your own flair and variation to them though.” She smiled at the thought of having someone to train with again. ‘It’s been a while since I’ve had someone to spar with. She’s going to be surprised when she blocks my attack.’
“Wait a minute…How did you know what I was thinking! I didn’t say my thoughts out loud!” Kagome was slightly freaked out. ‘Could she be a psychic and no one knew? I remember hearing the great psychic Misao’s famous fights from one of the shrine helpers there. I couldn’t help but go to the shrine next to ours and meet her myself. She’s really nice to me and it’s funny to see her train her student that she nicknamed ‘dimwit.’ Touya says she’s just an old hag that likes to yell at him and make him go through training from hell. He sees Misao as a grandmother though.’
Midoriko smiled and couldn‘t help but compare Misao to a person that she knew. ‘Their personalities are the same. Could she be a reincarnation of Tsubame?’ she sighed and closed her eyes. “I’m not a psychic Kagome. You were born with the jewel in your body and when its powers fused with you, a telepathic link formed between us.” Midoriko walked closer to her and sat down in the lotus position,. and then motioned for Kagome to do the same. ‘There’s a mind link between us? I guess that’s not all bad. Might as well go with what ‘Riko’s telling me.’
“Riko? Already shortening my name Kagome?” Kagome smiled and nodded as she sat down. “Alright then. Let’s get started. Do you know how to meditate?” Kagome nodded and got into the position as well. “Yeah, Kaede taught me how.” She closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. At first, all she could think about was her family, then her thoughts went to her friends. ‘Sango-chan….Miroku-sama…I miss you guys so much.’ After thinking about her friends for a while, she finally cleared her mind. “Now, have you found your center of power before?”
Kagome shook her head and opened her eyes. “In our training, we were just getting to it.” Midoriko sighed with a little bit of irritation. ‘They should teach the children on the shrines the way of the monk and miko in her time. It shouldn’t be that hard for Kagome to find the center of her power.’
“Close your eyes and try to find a light. That is your center of power. Then try to draw it out so you can use it.” Kagome closed her eyes and found a silver blue light in her heart. She imagined it going out to her hands and her hands now glowed a silvery blue. She opened her eyes and saw her glowing hands. A bow and arrows that were made of her power appeared and she smiled. She pulled the quiver onto her back and inspected her bow. She looked up from her bow and saw a target. She grabbed her bow and knocked an arrow and was ready to fire. She fired her arrow at the target and it was reduced to ashes. “Sugoi….my arrows haven’t been this strong before!”
“It is because of your power boost. Your powers have increased dramatically and that will be evident when you use them.” The background darkened and Midoriko’s figure was turning transparent. ‘What’s happening? I still have to be trained with the sword!’ Kagome was very confused now. “Someone is waking you up. We’ll have to finish this next time.”
Suddenly, Midoriko vanished and Kagome was thrown into the world of consciousness.
End of Kagome’s Dream
‘Who is shaking me?’ She opened her eyes and saw Sesshoumaru above her. “Who are you wench? And what did you do with the miko?” he said coldly.
Sesshoumaru’s POV
‘What was that? I feel a great power emanating from the miko’s room. I have to see what is the cause for all this power.’
He opened the door to Kagome’s room and saw a body encased in a silvery blue light. The light vanished and he could see a beautiful woman laying on the bed. ‘Did I just think she was beautiful? A ningen can’t be beautiful!’ He walked over and shook her shoulder lightly. Her eyes opened and he found himself lost in her icy blue eyes for a moment. ‘Midoriko? No, she had green eyes. Who is this human? She’s beautiful and smells nice. Mmm. Vanilla, cinnamon, and apples.’ Sesshoumaru growled at the voice in his head. ‘Who are you? You must be weak to think this human is beautiful.’ The voice chuckled in amusement.’ I am you. Or rather the side of you that shows emotions. I am your conscious. You might want to say something. She’s looking at us weirdly.’
He looked at the human and found that what his ‘conscious’ said was right. “Who are you wench? And what did you do with the miko?” he said coldly

Kagome didn't freak out when she learned that she was Midoriko's reincarnation because she felt that she was telling the truth. I didn’t have Midoriko train Kagome with the sword because I’m going to have Sesshy do it. She’s going to get trained with her shadow and elemental powers with Midoriko at another time. I know that Misao and Touya are like Genkai and Yusuke but I didn’t want to make this a crossover so I changed the names.
