Kagome's Will

Chapter Six
Giving a Statement

“Master InuYasha? Why on earth would he do something like mate with another woman? All this time I thought he was marrying Kikyo.”

Miroku looked at Sango, who looked like she was going to blow a gasket.

“InuYasha is marrying Kikyo for his own reasons, but he took Kagome before he agreed to wed Kikyo.”

“I see, and you don't know those reasons, do you?”

The two looked at each other then back at the old man.

“Yes, but like many things, we've been sworn to secrecy as to protect the privacy and integrity of our friends.”

“Very well, tell me why her father tried to kill her tonight?”

“Myoga, if we tell you, you can't tell anyone. Not InuYasha, nor Sesshomaru.” Sango stated coldly.

Myoga looked pensive as he tried to decided, but hastily agreed to the terms.

“Very well.”

“Ok then.” Miroku began. "When we arrived, we saw Kagome's father leave the house with a large black garbage bag. After he left, we went in and began to look for Kagome. Sango went upstairs, as I went to the kitchen to use the phone to call the police. When I went in, I found something. I prayed I was wrong in thinking about what it was, but when I went upstairs, and saw Kagome. Well, my suspicions were confirmed. Kagome's womb had been sliced open, almost professionally. She was six months pregnant as of yesterday. She had been trying to hide it long enough to save some money to go see her mother in America. However, as you can see, her father found out. This whole night was his reaction to the news.”

“So, Kagome was with child?”

“Yes.”

“Although, I'm sure I know the answer, who is the father?”

Again, Sango and Miroku looked at each other, and then turned their gaze back to the old man.

“Yes, we're certain that you do know the answer, as Kagome is a pure woman. She wouldn't ever take any other man. Only the one that she promised herself to.” Miroku bit out. “You've met her Detective, you should know.”

“Yes, she is a terribly sweet girl. Do you know where the child is now?”

“Do you remember that black garbage bag I told you about?” Myoga only nodded.
“Well, it contained her fathers bloody clothing, some rags and her premature infant.”

“WHAT?” Sango cried angrily. “THAT SON OF A BITCH, I'LL KILL HIM.”

Myoga and Miroku both cowered away from Sango, as she went on ranting and raving. The two men continued their conversation.

“Could you tell what kind of condition the child was in?”

“Other being born three months too early? The umbilical cord was cut and not tied off. The baby was left to bleed to death. The trashcan I found him in was directly beneath Kagome's window. I think he was trying to kill her physically and mentally.”

“Why is that?”

“The trashcans have always been at the far side of the house, away from the windows. Tonight, however, the two trashcans were directly under Kagome's window. Although it was shut, I'm sure Kagome could probably her the baby cry.”

With that, Sango lost all the content of her stomach. She began to sob uncontrollably as she thought about what Miroku had said. Miroku walked over to her and gently wrapped his arms around her waist and just held her. Myoga took this as a good time to leave.

“Well you two, if you can think of anything else, give me a call.” With that, he handed Miroku his card and left the two as they embraced.

“We should get to the hospital.” Miroku said calmly. “And call your house to let them know what's going on.”

“Yeah, but Rin's probably still there.”

“So? Do you honestly think she'll say anything to InuYasha?”

“No, you're right. Now I'm being overly protective.”

“Yes, Yes you are but that's ok Sango my love. It shows that you care.”
“Why didn't you tell you found the baby? Was it alive? What is it? Who does it look like? Does it have ears like InuYasha? Do you think it'll make it?

Miroku laughed at his girl-friends sudden swarm of questions.

“Well, I did have a chance to tell you, yes, it is alive, IT is a HE. He has his mothers gentle face and dark hair, but tonight is the New moon, so it could be just a side effect or it could mean he's more human than demon. I don't think his ears will appear for at least a couple days anyway, and I pray for Kagome's sake that he does pull through.”

“What do you think she'll call him?”

“Well, can't call him Junior. Unless she's referring to herself, or unless he looks like InuYasha as time goes on. One things for sure, he is a strong little pup.”

“I wish we could tell InuYasha. His firstborn child was born tonight, and we can't tell him because he's wrapped up in his past mistakes!”

“Sango, we can't judge Kikyo on this, we can make it an issue for InuYasha.”

“No, we can't. He'd be able to tell something was up.”

As Miroku got into the car, he saw the look in Sango's eyes. She was sad, tired. She looked like she herself had been beaten. Her face was ridden with worry, her eyes were filled with rage, but her body was exhausted.

“Sango lets go home. You look like you could use a bath.”

“No Miroku, I want to see how Kagome is.”

“But Sango, you're covered in blood.”

Sango looked down at her clothes. He was right, her hip hugger jeans and baby pink shirt were completely covered in Kagome's blood. She felt herself become dizzy, but shook the feeling out of her head.

“Miroku, lets just go to the hospital. I'll have Kohaku bring me some clothes. I'll clean up when we know what's going on, ok?”

Miroku looked at his girl-friends tired eyes and sighed.

“Fine, but I'm driving.”

Sango smiled and nodded. She quickly exchanged seats with Miroku and cast a loving glance as he drove away from the hellish nightmare they had just endured.
