Kagome's Will

Chapter Eleven

Kagome

Kagome looked around, she felt afraid of what she saw. Nothing, nothing surrounded her. She didn't know whether or not to walk around, or run. She stayed perfectly still, until a dark figure appeared from the shadows.

“Kagome.”

Kagome gasped. That voice, it was the same that haunted her dreams from the night that InuYasha had taken Kikyo.

“Who are you?” she asked

“Mine.” The voice whispered.

“What do you want?” She felt herself being pulled into this figures reach, but she did not struggle.

“Mine.” The voice said again.

“Why am I here?” Just then, she heard something. It was a heavenly sound, one she had wanted to hear for so long. She looked around, trying desperately to locate it. Then, she noticed the shadowy figure coming towards her. As she turned, she felt the figures breath on her neck as he held her wrists.

“You are mine now, Kagome Higurashi. He has forgotten you, why would you want his spawn?”

His words were like fire, burning her heart. At the same time, she reasoned with herself.

`How does he know? No one knew except for Sango, Miroku and Rin.' She heard him laugh. She tried to turn to face him but his hold on her wouldn't permit it.

“I know everything Kagome. Every bruise and every scratch you have. I know exactly how they came to be.”

“WHO ARE YOU?”

“It does not matter, release your barrier and let the pup die. You could not live with a child anyway. InuYasha would be shamed.”

“What do you know?”

“I know that the Taisho family has a great deal of money, and would pay handsomely for silence.”

“I would never take their money.”

“No, you wouldn't need to. They'd give it to someone else. To destroy the one thing that could jeopardize their honor.”

“InuYasha wouldn't do that, even if he knew.”

“No? What about Sesshomaru? Would he?”

“No, he wouldn't.”

“You sound confident.”

“I am.”

“Kagome, you will die soon if you don't release that barrier. Once you die, your child will have no way to live and will soon follow. If you die, you will kill InuYasha”

Kagome thought about this for a minute, her child would die if she died, so would InuYasha. Then, her efforts to give him life would've been in vain. `No, I will find a way.'

“There is no way Kagome, you are using the last of your energy to keep him safe. Slowly he is dying though. Being the half ling he is, his mortal night appears to be that of the new moon.”

“No!” She pulled away from him and turned to see his face. “Who are you? Why are you doing this to me? WHERE IS MY SON?”

“Dear Kagome, is your son more precious to you than your own life? No matter, InuYasha will never believe that the child is his.”

“Why the hell not?”

“Look for you mark maiden.” Kagome hesitated, but then slowly, she reached up and touched her mark. She removed them quickly and looked at them.

“What?” She looked at the blood on her hand. “NO! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?”

“Kagome, do you love InuYasha?”

“FUCK YOU!”

“Well, then you won't mind if I kill him.” With that the shadow disappeared and Kagome's heart stopped.

“InuYasha!”

Sesshomaru had somehow gained access to Kagome's room number. He allowed Sango and Miroku to go and see her, while he made a phone call. He listened as a woman answered the phone.

“Hello Higurashi's.”

“Hello, I'm looking for Mrs. Higurashi. Is she available?”

“Speaking?”

“ Mrs. Higurashi, this Sesshomaru Taisho.”

“Taisho? InuYasha's brother?”

“Yes, I'm afraid I have some terrible news.”

Sango and Miroku followed the nurse to Kagome's room. When the entered they saw their friend hooked up to every machine possible.

“Oh Kagome!” Sango whispered tearfully. Miroku walked to his girlfriend and held her as she cried. Miroku went over the doctor's words in his head.

* Flashback *

“We were surprised she arrived here alive. She had lost so much blood. It didn't look good. It still doesn't. She seems to be fading, I guess it's because she's protecting her child by using her energy and life force. If we don't find a way to stop her, then she'll more than likely die tonight or tomorrow.”

* End Flashback*

Miroku gazed at Kagome. `I wish I could get InuYasha. He could heal her.' Even though she was badly cut and bruised, her face still glowed with a peaceful aura. However, before their eyes, she began to struggle and she stopped. A few minutes later they heard her gasp as her eyes shot open.

“InuYasha!” she whispered.

Then, all the monitors went off. Kagome's heart had stopped.
