Koolkat191: So, you guys heard the girl we all know and love! *cough* Not Kikyo. We don't like Kikyo. *cough cough* Well… I don't at least. As always, no offense to anyone who does! :)

 

 

Chapter 10:I'll Always Protect You

“Oh my gosh. Kikyo actually did that to you?” Asked a very concerned Sango as she walked alongside her best friend on the way home. “Yeah, but InuYasha carried me to the nurse's office.” Kagome answered smiling back at the hanyou.

 

InuYasha blushed a bit as he smiled back. Miroku studied InuYasha's face with the most idiotic grin gracing his lips. Miroku chuckled. It was all SO obvious. InuYasha raised an eyebrow at him. “What's so funny all of a sudden Miroku?”

 

Miroku burst out into full laughter. “Oh man, you're priceless InuYasha.”

 

“What's so priceless about me?” He asked starting to get annoyed. Miroku laughed again. “That it's so obvious that you like Kagome. And you always try to hide it too.” He chuckled as he whispered into InuYasha's ear.

 

InuYasha's face got bright red. “D-Do not. We're just friends you stupid monk.” That obviously didn't convince him since he burst out into another fit of laughter. “See? That's exactly what I'm talking about.” Miroku stated as he slapped InuYasha on the back. He was starting to get fed up with Miroku so he slapped Miroku on the back. So hard, Miroku fell flat on his face as InuYasha continued on without him.

 

“Why don't you tell her?” InuYasha jumped at the voice suddenly beside him again. He just won't drop it will he? “Why do you keep pestering me when everybody knows you have a crush on Sango?”

 

“Because I can and I'm not the one denying my feelings here. I'm true to myself about my feeling for Sango. I'm clearly aware that I like her. While you, on the other hand, are denying everything.”

 

“Well, what makes you so sure that I like her?”

 

Miroku laughed again. This was getting so stupid it was hilarious. “Dude, it's written all over your face!”

 

InuYasha suddenly got a confused look on that very same face. “It is?” He quietly mumbled to himself. “Yeah! It's seriously all over your face!”

 

Damn. I didn't think he'd hear me with those pathetic human ears of his. InuYasha thought with a growl.

 

Sango and Kagome turned around. “What's all over InuYasha's face?” They asked in unison. Miroku grinned and was about to answer but InuYasha slapped his hand over his mouth. “Say anything and I'll hurt you. These claws of mine aren't just for decoration you know.” He whispered menacingly into Miroku's ear.

 

Miroku gulped as InuYasha lifted his hand off of his mouth. “O-Okay. Anything for you buddy.” He whispered back, frightened. “Oh nothing ladies, I just said…” The girls were giving him expecting looks that were making him nervous. “Sango, you look wonderful today! Absolutely lovely, beautiful, and did I mention wonderful?” Miroku quickly recovered with a grin.

 

Sango's face was now covered with a bright pink blush. She turned around and continued walking not wanting to let Miroku see that his efforts… Were working, as they almost always did. Kagome quickly catching up to her.

 

“Sango, do you like Miroku?” Kagome asked with a sly smile. Sango started to look around as if the answer would pop up out of nowhere. “I… Um… Uh… Well…” Sango sighed. “Alright Kagome. I'll tell you but you've got to keep it a secret.”

 

“Alright. I promise.” Kagome stated with her hand over her heart. Pssh. I don't see the point in telling anyone anyway. Everybody knows they like each other. Kagome sweatdropped. Miroku's pretty forward about it too. That's a pretty big give away.

 

“Yeah, I like him. But he's such a womanizer and a pervert.” Sango sighed. “If only he'd stop doing those things.” Yup. That could be a huge set back. Kagome thought with a nod of understanding.

 

She put an arm around Sango to comfort her. “Don't worry. I'm sure he'll come around sooner or later.”

InuYasha was walking down the hall at school. He had the strangest feeling that something was wrong. InuYasha could hear screams though he had no idea where they were coming from.

 

He started to look around, ears twitching, trying to find the source of the blood curdling cries for help. It was all so weird. It was as if… His nose and ears weren't working. It seemed like the walls of the school were melting all around him. He kept walking nonetheless.

 

The hall seemed to go on forever without any end. InuYasha had been walking for hours and still wasn't any closer to the end of the hall that he was those hours ago. He was starting to get extremely exhausted.

 

InuYasha knew that he must have been making some progress though because the screams were getting louder. He had also been looking around for Miroku and Sango or anyone else but the halls were all eerily empty. It was only him and whoever the screams were coming from. Or so he thought. The closer he got the more familiar the screams got. He'd definitely heard them somewhere before.

 

One name popped into his head that scared him so much, he had almost no idea what to do. The screams, they were coming from… From… Kagome. InuYasha took off running, the never ending hallway starting to piss him off so much. It was as if he was on a treadmill.

 

He was running but not getting anywhere. InuYasha was getting extremely worried. Kagome was in trouble and he wasn't getting there. The screams were still getting louder so he kept running even though he felt he might collapse from exhaustion any second.

 

There was one final earsplitting scream and then all was quiet. It was the most frightening silence he had experienced in all his life.

 

Then what he came upon next made him freeze with horror. It was Kagome. He had found her but she was covered in blood and wasn't moving. He slowly walked over to her and dropped to his knees at her side. She wasn't breathing.

 

All he could do was cradle her lifeless body in his arms. InuYasha started to cry. He'd never been this saddened or depressed in all of his days.

 

Then an evil cackle sounded behind him. He allowed his eyes to separate from Kagome to land directly on… Kikyo. The bitch was laughing her ass off.

 

“InuYasha, you're such a pathetic fool. A hanyou crying his eyes out over a mortal girl's death. Being a hanyou in itself is truly pathetic.” She stated as she cackled yet again.

 

“Y-You bitch. Did you do this to Kagome?” InuYasha asked in pure hatred as more tears fell down his already tearstained face. Kikyo laughed. “Why yes, that's me.” She said with an evilly satisfied smirk.

 

“How dare you. I'll kill you!” He threatened with hatred as he laid Kagome's body down and stood up, ready to fight her. Kikyo simply chortled at that. Then she grew twenty times her actual size and loomed over InuYasha casting her evil grin down on him. “And how exactly do you plan on doing that?” Kikyo asked now quite resembling the devil.

 

InuYasha started to attack her with his claws but it didn't have any effect on her. She was laughing at him the whole time.

 

“INUYASHA! INUYASHA!” Someone was calling his name. It sounded like Kagome! “KAGOME!” InuYasha called desperately trying to find her.

 

“INUYASHA!”

 

“KAGOME!”

 

“INUYASHA!”

 

“DIE!” Kikyo boomed as her enormous foot stomped on InuYasha.

InuYasha shot up in bed covered in sweat and breathing heavily. Kagome was right next to him.

 

“Are you alright InuYasha?” She asked extremely concerned as she put her hand on his shoulder.

 

InuYasha took one look at her and then captured her in a tight embrace. “Kagome, I was so scared.”

 

Kagome's shock quickly receded and she started to softly pat his back, trying to calm him down. He looked simply terrified. “It'll all be okay. It was just a dream.” She soothed.

 

Kagome, I promise that I'll always protect you. No matter what. InuYasha vowed as he pulled her slightly closer.

A/N: So there you have it, InuYasha and Kagome's first hug. *sniffle* Oh great! I've made myself emotional again! But then why am I doing my happy dance at the same time? Huh. I can be really weird at times so it's not really all that surprising. And there's also some more for those Kikyo Haters out there. :D Remember how I said that I don't kill eight year-olds? It was a dream so… It doesn't count, kay? So I hope you all enjoyed it! You know, even though it was extremely short.
