"Last Hope"

A/N: Sorry it took a while to get this chapter out. I had trouble deciding just how far I wanted to go with it, and it ended up quite short ^^'. Anyway, please enjoy!

"New Experiences"

Six figures made their way through the streets of the city dubbed Warui. Three of the six were well known all though maybe not by sight, but definitely by name. While the other three were nothing more than faces in the crowd, just more people that populated the ever-growing city that would probably soon leave; finding the city not what they expected. That's what most of the new residents to Warui did.

Kagome found the collage of people astounding. Youkai of different races, clothing styles, height, and age littered the street in which she and her companions were walking on. For some of them it seemed they were in a rush to get to an unknown location and others just looked like they were waiting for someone, or even taunting someone to come to them. The vast array of characters sparked her interest and made her confused and dizzy all at the same time.

It was what many would call `sensory overload'.

"Kagome, are you ok?" Sango ask softly, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder.

"I think I will be all right," Kagome said with a slight smile, even though it was unseen by all those around her due to the large coat she was wearing.

"Oi, just where are you dragging us anyway, Sesshomaru?" Inuyasha asked his half-sibling in a miffed tone. He finally felt it was ok to talk now that the silence had been broken by the android woman, for some reason he had felt awkward before.

"Onigumo's…" Sesshomaru replied boredly. He wasn't about to go into detail for the sake of Inuyasha, he was never one to waste his time.

"Feh, why would we wanna go see that asshole?" Inuyasha demanded more than asked.

"He may have information, or have contacts, that could aid us in getting to the colonies," Sesshomaru stated.

Kouga sighed, "The arguing never ends between you two does it?" Inuyasha merely glared at the Ookami youkai and shut up, he wasn't about to make a further ass of himself. He normally would have continued to argue, despite what Kouga said, but having the two androids and the girl with them made him feel slightly uncomfortable.

Inuyasha shot a glance back at the girl cloaked in the over-sized faded black coat. He tried to look at her face, but to no avail. Her long raven bangs that desperately needed a trim hung in her face, covering her eyes while shadows hid the rest of her features. He still didn't know what she looked like really, true, he had seen he that morning but he had been too focused on his ramen and was half-dead from just waking up. He had barely even glanced up at her when she had been in the room.

Sesshomaru looked around disgustedly at the all-too-familiar area surrounding him and his companions. This part of the large city of Warui sickened him. It was infested with prostitutes and strippers of the like. It was irksome too see so many women willing to sell their bodies for money. Or in some cases they just wanted pleasure and sometimes even pain. These nymphomaniacs often tended to find some turn-on with whips and chains.

The noise from inside the building could be heard by youkai, android, and in Kagome's case, human alike. The loud, and sometimes quite lustful, hoots and hollers of drunken and hungover men were muffled slightly by the wild, upbeat music that pounded within the building's core. Sesshomaru opened the door, the sudden, much louder, blast of noise startling Kagome a bit.

The sight inside was any lecher's fantasy. All but naked youkai women of all races `danced' upon a bar-top. Sesshomaru hardly called this dancing. Most were topless, the rest of their body bare as well aside from a skimpy thong. A few pretended to make love to poles and other various objects. Many would think that this activity would only be going on during the night. But no, not at this particular establishment, such manners of immoral behaviors went on twenty-four-seven. No matter what time of night or day a person could walk in and have a show.

Sesshomaru completely ignored the sluttish women and continued on his way, knowing his exact destination. Inuyasha and Kouga couldn't help but to steal a few glances, though they had been here quite a few times before their male urges were still there and making themselves present. Sango and Kagome followed along without a word, attempting to avoid looking at the women putting themselves on display. While Miroku tried with all his might not to stare, but failed terribly. Android or not, he was still a man, and possessed all such perverted qualities of one.

The stoical inu youkai lead the group to the back of the very large room, to a door that adorned a large label. The sign read in clear, bold Japanese: `Employees Only'. Though Sesshomaru was no employee he had a high enough status in society in Warui that he, and any others with him, would be allowed in this `forbidden' area without question.

Through the door the group was met with a wall and a hallway that lead in opposite directions. The three youkai men turned to the left and continued, closely followed by the girl and two androids. It wasn't long before they stopped in front of another door, though this one was not labeled. Sesshomaru knocked on it three times and waited. It would have been dead silence if the music from the previous room had not been blasting as loud as it was, everyone was sure it would blow a speaker or two any second.

When it finally seemed no one was going to answer, the sound of the doorknob clicked, triggering the six peoples' attention. The door opened with a creak, showing its lack of upkeep. A scantily clad neko youkai woman looked at them dully, her expression clearly stating that she had better things to be doing.

"What do you want Sesshomaru?" she asked, her tone bitter and annoyed.

"Where is Onigumo?" Sesshomaru countered with a question of his own. He knew that is woman would be the errand-girl and answer the door for the man he wished to see. Her name was something that started with a `K'… Kikyou? Yes, that was it. She was a promiscuous bitch would sleep with any man as long as he had something she wanted. At one point she had even tried to seduce him, her intentions ending in failure. So, she switched to his half-sibling.

Inuyasha was much more naïve than he had originally thought.

Kikyou, being a very greedy woman, toyed with Inuyasha. Hoping to be trusted and eventually get to Sesshomaru's money through the former hanyou's faith in her `love'. It wasn't too long before she learned her actions were futile and she went man-hunting again, ditching the dumbfounded Inuyasha. Onigumo was a wealthy man and one who would let whatever woman he happened to be sleeping with spend a bit of his money. Kikyou took full advantage of this.

"He's not here," Kikyou stated bluntly. Her slate gray graze wandered over to the other five that accompanied Sesshomaru, "Quite the crowd you have following you, ne Sesshomaru? It seems you've picked up three more idiots to join your collection."

The dog-eared inu youkai gritted his teeth irritably as he glared daggers at Kikyou, only to succeed in making her smile devilishly at him. Sesshomaru gave Inuyasha a warning glance, knowing his younger brother was far more than a little pissed off. "When will he be back?" the taller of the two half brothers asked in a bored tone, ignoring her insults to his choice of companions.

Kikyou shrugged.

"Where is he then?" Sesshomaru questioned, hoping to get more than a shrug out of the stubborn neko this time. Even though he was not a religious person, this was one of the times he thanked whatever god that may be listening for his patience.

Kikyou examined her long, perfectly manicured claws boredly, "Full of questions aren't you?" she glanced up at him and then back at her nails, "At Hiten's place. Hiten said he wanted to talk to him about something. I don't have all day to be answering your questions, so, is that all?" she replied with a roll of her eyes at the end.

"No. That's all." Sesshomaru turned on his heel to leave. Glad that he was able to get away from the neko bitch and finally get out of this god damned building. He glanced back at Inuyasha. It was odd; he was normally never this quiet. Maybe their new company had more than one purpose… getting Kouga, Inuyasha, and himself money but also shutting up his obnoxious half-brother.

"So, are we gunna go all the way to Hiten's?" Kouga questioned, shattering the silence between the six. He stuffed his hands in his jacket's pockets as he looked over to Sesshomaru and Inuyasha.

"Possibly, but not right now," Sesshomaru answered before Inuyasha could put his thoughtless opinion in. He had never met the man called `Hiten' but he had heard of him, news traveled very swiftly. Hiten live all the way across town, and considering how large Warui was, that was very far. It would take at least four hours of walking, which was the most efficient was to get around this hellish city. He had access to quite a few vehicles but getting anywhere far in one was damn near impossible.

They all made their way back to the original building that they had resided in last night, save for Sesshomaru. He stayed outside and leaned against the metal exterior and lit a cigarette.

Kagome hesitated as she started to go inside, after a moment she told Sango she would be in, in a few minutes. She walked over to Sesshomaru and leaned against the building next to him, "Why are you helping Miroku, Sango, and me?" The raven haired girl looked up at him questioningly despite the fact that neither he nor anyone else could see her expression.

Sesshomaru tensed, this was the question he had been dreading. He had thoroughly thought out what he was going to say once she asked him, but planning out and doing so were two very different things. He opened his mouth to speak when he was interrupted.

A child's loud scream of pain flowed through Sesshomaru and Kagome's ears.

Kagome looked in the direction of the blood-curdling sound. Two men, both Ookami youkai, were in a shadowed corner of the alley kicking something. Upon further inspection Kagome confirmed that it definitely was a child that they were brutally beating. She began to run toward the scene, wanting to help the poor kid in any way possible.

Sesshomaru growled under his breath, jus what in hell was this girl trying to pull? She wouldn't stand a chance up against two Ookami youkai. Was she just doing this to save that pup? He cursed silently as he started to chase after the raven haired beauty.
