Chapter 3
Kagome awoke again a day later, it was now morning and light came threw the small window in the room. This time she was in a spacious room she lay on a thick feather-sleeping pad that had a beautiful white and pink flower silk comforter on top of it. Though it was not a western bed it still had a small frame and a full size futon like mattress. Getting up she found herself in a white silk sleeping gown and blushed slightly hopping that it wasn't Ade that had dressed her though she suspected that it was.
Kagome looked around the room there was a sliding door on ether side of the room one that held the window led to a porch that in turn led to a small courtyard. The other door she guessed led to the rest of the house. At one end of the room straight in front of her was a small vanity table with a mirror and had a soft pillow under it. Laid on top of the table was a decorative box that had cherry coloring and golden Chinese characters that she believed said "beauty". To the left of the bed was an amore that had been carved and stained in a beautiful pattern of a cherry trees over water the cheery blossoms falling from the tree to the grass and water below it. In the middle of the room there was a circular mat that had a lotus blossom surrounded by water weave into it. The room was positively feminine and Kagome was surprised at the fact that it was even in Sesshomarus castle.

The door suddenly opened with a whoosh causing Kagome to jump, a small demon came in Kagome assumed she was a rabbit demon due to the long floppy ears that were held back by a yellow tie she had soft pink eyes and long eyelashes. She wore a white kimono that had one thick purple swirl around it while soft yellow flowers decorated the kimono in sparse places.

"Hi, my name is Akina I will be your lady in waiting while you are a guest in sesshomarus home" the small demon stated giving a small bow.

"I have prepared a bath for you if you would like to fallow me, Sesshomaru ordered you be clean of the half-demons sent" Kagome blushed slightly well; she certainly doesn't hold back information does she? Kagome thought. Kagome exited the room after Akina from the door to the left. As she had assumed it led to a hallway that she was now walking down. After another few paces away from her room the women stopped in front of another sliding door that opened into a steam filled bathhouse. Akina stopped at another door off to the side.
"Do you need to relieve yourself miss?" she asked abruptly. Kagome ounce again taken aback by her abruptness simply nodded yes, opening the door for her Kagome entered a small bathroom that held nothing but a wooden privy. Kagome, now used to relieving herself in the Forrest, was surprised to see the bathroom. Not even the riches places they had stayed in their travels had a bathroom. After relieving herself Kagome exited the bathroom to find Akina standing patently next to a small bench, two buckets of steaming water at her feet.

"Sit here miss and I'll help you with your hair" Kagome walked over to her not expecting her to promptly grab her robe and strip her of her sleeping yokata and pore hot water over her all in one fluid motion. Before Kagome knew it she was sitting down on the bench letting Akina rub a soft rose smelling soap over her hair and back, after attempting to move to her front Kagome gently took the wash rag from her and began finishing off herself. After a few minuets of letting Kagome wash Akina took in a small whiff of air nodded ounce and proceeded to douse her in yet another shower of warm water. Akina turned and grabbed a small jar off of the lip of the shelves above her head and promptly poured the substance over Kagome's head. It also smelled like the rose soap that was previously used on Kagome.

"Um, what is this stuff?" Kagome asked.

"Well, it's a salve made of jasmine, rose, and honey. It is vary good for the hair, it will mend all these split ends you have" Kagome blushed at the comment is my hair gross? Akina continued to brush and massage Kagome's scalp for a few minutes before wrapping her hair in a moist towel. Ounce again clothing Kagome in a soft robe Akina led her to yet another door to the right of the privy, ounce she entered Kagome gasped. The room was completely open to a courtyard that lead to a small water hole and a small connecting waterfall, there were cherry trees and lotus blossoms in the water and Kagome briefly wondered if that is what her room was designed after. Taking a closer look at the actual room she found a large wooden Jacuzzi in the center that had steps leading to its steaming top. On the opposite side of the steps there was a small shelf hovering over the water that now held a stack of towels and a teakettle with a teacup. The open door way leading to the courtyard had small delicate roots blooming over the frame of the door that held purple flowers. And the walls were painted to match the outside view. This IS heaven!!!! Kagome screamed in her mind.

"Akina this place is beautiful!" Kagome nearly shouted at the smiling demon girl. After Kagome was settled in the bath, which Akina had sprinkled with rose petals to add a good smell, she relaxed and thought about her position. She needed to find out about Sesshomaru and why he had been generous enough to have her in his home. Ade had said something about a demon debt but she had no clue what that was. After relaxing for a few more minutes Kagome rose from the water and stepped onto the floor unwrapping her hair she ounce again rinsed her body and was tantalized by the soft sent that radiated from it. Wow, I really got to learn how to make that stuff Kagome thought. Ounce again startling Kagome Akina came threw the door giving Kagome a fresh robe and brought her back to her room. Insisting on brushing Kagome's hair she kneeled behind Kagome at Kagome's temporary vanity and brushed her hair till it dried, which didn't take long speaking it was almost dry as is.

"Well now isn't that better" Akina said. Kagome was amazed; her hair, which was full of dead ends and had always been wild, was now shiny, sleek, and full of straight volume. Kagome beamed at her beautiful hair. Wow, no wonder Sesshomaru is gorgeous.

"Well let's get you dressed shall we" Akina said brightly.

"O' right um, where are my clothes" Kagome asked.

"Well, Sesshomaru said that he didn't want you wearing something so… reveling around Rin" Kagome blushed she assumed from Akina's pause that he had not used the word "reveling" to describe her form of dress.

"So, we'll just get you a nice kimono instead” Akina said while opening the amore in Kagome's room and rummaged threw the clothes there. He's giving me clothes; I can't wear the clothes he gives me! This is too much! Kagome thought. After much consideration Akina pulled a long white kimono that had small cherry blossoms falling down to the slight train behind it starting at about the center of the back and flowing down to the ground. The kimono was stunning, and without even thinking about refusing sesshomarus generous offer Kagome let Akina slide the kimono over her shoulders and after preparing the kimono properly wrapped a long pink obi around her waist that ended with a bow over her rear. After she was done with that she sat Kagome, ounce again, down on the pillow in front of the vanity and proceeded to quickly put her hair half up in two twisted ropes of hair tied together with a small pink ribbon. Kagome thought she looked better then she had in a long time. Turning around she looked at Akina.

"Thank you so much!" Kagome said brightly. Akina gave Kagome a smile.

" Akina, what time is it?" Kagome asked.

"About noon, why do you ask, if I'm not being to bold" Akina asked.

"Of course not, after all I'm no better then you are, I was just wondering how long it took me to get ready" Kagome replied.

"Well, your bath was about half an hour and it took about twenty minuets to get ready so about and hour I suppose" answered Akina. After a few short minuets Kagome's stomach growled loudly, Kagome blushed slightly as a teasing smile lit up Akina's face.

"Are you hungry?" Kagome hadn't thought about it till now but other then the tea she had while bathing she hasn't had anything to eat all day.

"Famished, will you be joining me to eat Akina?" Kagome asked innocently. Giving a short laugh Akina responded.
"Of course not I am a servant I eat in the kitchen, you are a guest, you will dine with Sesshomaru and Rin" Kagome froze slightly nervous. Speaking to Sesshomaru, I guess it won't be too bad with rin there. Sensing kagome's nervousness Akina stepped in.

"Don't fret, Sesshomaru is quit gentlemanly at times" Kagome was shocked at ever being able to think that Sesshomaru was a gentleman but she would find out in a matter of time. Akina led Kagome threw the winding set of halls finally stopping at an ornate door at the end of a hallway. After sliding it open Akina led Kagome inside then, giving a short bow, she left. Taking a short look around Kagome saw a beautiful décor, on each of the four walls there was a scroll showing some picture of a particular element of the earth, earth, air, fire, and water and each scroll surrounded in cloth of the elements color. In the center of the room there was a small round table that had four pillows around it on one sat a patiently waiting Rin, but after seeing her hero in the room she sprang to life and bounded over to Kagome.

"Hello! Thank you miss, for saving me!" Kagome smiled at Rin's cuteness. She noticed that the outfit that she usually wears has bin replaced by a dark blue kimono with a white daisy on the shoulder and had a white obi around her waist. Her hair had been done up the same as Kagome's and Kagome could honestly say that they could pass as sisters.

"Come sit by me" Rin said nearly dragging Kagome to sit on the cushion next to hers, after a few minutes of giggling and squirming for both of them Sesshomaru flung the side door open and stepped inside. Kagome froze for a second until Rin jumped up and flung her arms around sesshomarus legs, though Sesshomaru was still sporting his same outfit as usual he lacked his armor and his weapons.

"Rin sit down,” Sesshomaru ordered in his popular cold tone.

"Yes" Rin replayed as she ran to sit back down. Kagome was confused and nervous so she did the best thing she could think of and tried to remember all of the manners her mother had taught her about the proper rules for women to do in a formal occasion. Something that her mother felt was necessary to teach her no matter how out dated it was. Kagome briefly rose to her feet and gave a deep bow.

"Good afternoon lord Sesshomaru" Kagome stayed standing until Sesshomaru took his seat across from her and Rin. Then sat and grabbed the teakettle she proceeded to pour tea in turn from Sesshomaru to Rin the last herself. After that she filled sesshomarus sake glass full. Then waited with her hands on her lap as did Rin and waited for instructions.

"I trust you accommodations fit you Kagome" Sesshomaru said in hi smooth creamy voice.

"They were far beyond my highest expectations lord Sesshomaru" Kagome stated in a soft voice being polite and dignified while addressing him. Sesshomaru took a sip of his drink signifying his permission for the meal to begin. Two maids entered from the sliding door each dress in a matching blue kimono that had a silver trim and matching obi. They were some sort of fish demons that seemed to be twins, one help a large plate full of foods and the other held two smaller trays which Kagome assumed was hers and rin's. As suspected the largest of the three trays went to Sesshomaru that had a large amount of raw meat some sushi rolls, a bowl of rice, along with a small saucer or soy sauce, wasabi, and chopsticks with a steaming side of a blood smelling soup. A more human friendly meal went to Kagome and rin carrying fully cooked teriyaki chicken, sushi rolls, and side of rice, salad and miso soup along with the typical wasabi, chopsticks, and soy sauce. They continued their meal in silence Rin, having finished first, asked to be excused and left leaving an uncomfortable silence in her wake.

"Lord Sesshomaru, may I ask why you brought me here?" Kagome asked tentatively. Sesshomaru gave her a stern look and replied.

"I have a debt to pay to you for rescuing my ward, you will stay until fit and the next time we meet we will ounce again be enemies" Sesshomaru continued eating as if the question had never been asked. The meal continued on in silence until Sesshomaru quickly stood and went to exit the room stopping for a quick second and glancing over his shoulder.

" When you finish your meal fill free to go anywhere you please, Ade will be by to check on your condition" with this he left threw room with a swish of the door. After she finished eating Kagome decided to take advantage of Sesshomaru's words and began to explore her surroundings. After exiting the room threw the same door that Sesshomaru had she traveled down the halls and threw certain rooms. Much was decorated in a fashion that did not suite the traditional Japanese that she had expected to find. She found many different cultures in the form of art and furniture crossing rooms that resembled Indian temples and libraries that looked as if from Greek times that held statues of gods and goddesses. She even found a room full of foreign weapons that held weapons from Europe, Egypt, and china along with a beautiful suite of armor from Rome. Kagome searched threw the weapons; she saw a stunning array of battle-axes, swords and armors. Kagome saw golden axes and curved and bent swords from Egypt, African clubs and spears also lined the walls. Kagome was shocked to see that there was also and array of demon made weapons on the far wall she saw Tensaiga on a stand along with his Tokijin. With those two familiar swords he also had collection of other weapons that Kagome had never seen. One of which caught kagome's eyes from the start, it was mounted on the wall and was the most stunning thing she had ever seen in her life. It was a bow that seemed to be made of silver but Kagome knew it was made of demon bones, it was carved to make it seem that vines grew along the bow curve. The handle that sat in the center was surrounded by a velvet sheen of cloth along with this there was small blue gems that was place in the center of each leaf. Next to the stunning bow was a white doe leather quiver that held several arrows that were sleek white wood that held a demonic jewel on the end of each. From behind her Kagome heard the door swish open. Twirling around she was face-to-face ounce again with the menacing Sesshomaru.

“Why are you in this room?” Sesshomaru asked in a slightly thoughtful tone.

“Um, I was just looking I'm sorry” Kagome answered afraid that she was going to be in danger. Sesshomaru knew what she was looking at and he knew why, the energy that radiated from that bow was not demon but pure, he could sense her longing to be able to hold the bow.

“That bow belonged to my mother, it as on of her most beloved possessions” Sesshomaru stated coming up to stand by her attempting to touch the bow but stopped knowing that he would be severely burned by the purification that omitted from the weapon.

“But how, how could she hold something so pure?” Kagome asked confused at why a demon would be able to handle the purification abilities it had.

“My mother was not a demon, she was a spirit” Sesshomaru stated making Kagome feel slightly silly because she had thought that they were the same thing.

“She held the spirit of the forest within her that made her innocent and able to handle its pure powers” Sesshomaru explained sensing her unsure thoughts.

“ What happened to her?” Kagome asked with thought thinking what her question would stir in the lord. Sesshomaru stiffened slightly, it was not a subject he had addressed since his father's death. After debating on weather to tell her or not Sesshomaru decided to relent this information,
“She offered her soul back to the forest after her mates betrayal” Kagome took a side-glance at him recognizing his discomfort. Is that why he hates Inuyasha and his mother? Because his father loved Inuyasha's mother? Kagome thought.

Inuyasha stood by the well, it had been three days, and hopefully he could go get her now. Jumping threw the well Inuyasha emerged threw at the other side. Exiting the well house he sniffed the air slightly he did not smell Kagome around but thought nothing of it. She must be at school still Inuyasha thought slightly disappointed. Walking towards the house he entered the kitchen as if he owned the place. Kagome's mother, who had been cooking, raised her head and smiled.

“What brings you here today Inuyasha?” she asked. Inuyasha immediately thought that Kagome's mother must of lost some brain cells while he was gone because she had always seemed to guess why he came before.

“ Um, I`m here to pick up Kagome is she still at school” Inuyasha asked a softly. Mrs. Higurashi's smile faltered for a second.

“ I don't know Inuyasha I may have missed her what time did she come home?” Dread hit Inuyasha with the weight of falling bricks how could she not be here? What happened? Is she ok? Inuyasha's mind ran threw all of the horrible things that may have happened to his beautiful companion, he would hate himself if anything happened to her. Kagome mother stared at the half-demon she watched as his look went from nervousness to worry and then to fear her thoughts mirroring the demons.

“Inuyasha when was she supposed to be here?” she asked afraid of the answer. Inuyasha stared at her unsure if he should answer truthfully or ease her fear and assure her that she simply must have stopped along the way. Inuyasha thought it better to go for the first idea she would be able to tell if he was lying.

“ Three days ago” Inuyasha stated watching Mrs. Higurashi's composure crumble. Stumbling over her word Kagome's mother gently mumbled slightly incoherent fears for her daughter. Fallen, hurt, kidnapped, raped, murdered! They all flew through her head at the same time.

“Inuyasha you find her for me, find her for me, find my baby, bring her home” she asked her voice breaking with ever word. Inuyasha wrapped his arms around the sobbing mother.

“I will find her,” he said in a soft awkward voice I won't let anything happen to you Kagome not this time, not again Inuyasha thought.
