Chapter 4

Kagome entered her temporary room a little while later, after reviling a peace of his past with her Sesshomaru had promptly left the room and went only god knows where. Kagome began exploring again, getting herself completely lost in the process, but luckily she had taken a right turn somewhere because she ended back in a familiar hallway that lead to the room that she had been granted stay in. Upon entering her room she found Ade sitting down on the floor at the far end of her room mixing some sort of salve in a stone cup. She smiled

 

“I assume you read my mind to know I was headed this way?” Kagome asked in a slightly sarcastic tone. Ade smiled a little he liked this human she was nice and funny which was a refreshing change from Sesshomaru.

 

“ Actually I did not need to, I could since your energy coming in the direction, now sit down in front of me so I can see that shoulder” Ade responded proud that he proved her wrong. Doing as told Kagome took a seat in front of Ade and lowered the corner of her kimono that hid her torn shoulder. Kagome almost puked, out of the beautiful kimono came her bandaged shoulder upon removing the bandage she saw that it looked like it got smashed with a mallet. The wound had not been sewn shut Ade instead used a cauterization method that left the skin there blackened and dead. Along with that a white puss came to the top of the wound it was pink and tight-skinned. Kagome was thoroughly disgusted Ade on the other hand seemed completely content with the task he had at hand and began slicing off dead skin and cleaning the wound. Usually this process would be excruciatingly painful and in her times people would be put under for something like this yet Kagome's shoulder was numb too all pain.

 

“Why can't I feel that? That should hurt a lot” Kagome said look at Ade and trying not to pay attention at the greenish white goo he was cleaning out of her wound.

 

“ Humans wound not be able to take this kind of pain you would probably pass out so instead I simply block that part of your bodies nerves from your brain so you cant feel it” Ade replied surprising her with his knowledge of feeling. Kagome turned her head afraid to watch anymore as he poked and prodded her shoulder, within a few minuets Kagome regained feeling in her arm which she greatly regretted. The pain was burning from some salve he put on and she could a dull throb go threw her shoulder with electric shocks of pain threw out her entire arm. Kagome took deep breaths trying to focus on anything but the pain until Ade's hand smooth a cool cream over he would that made the pain subside to almost nothing then wrapping it in a muslin cloth let Kagome pull her kimono back over her shoulder. Ade stood up giving a soft stretch and letting out a long growling yawn, Kagome let out a small giggle he really s just like a cat isn't he Kagome asked herself only to Ade shoot her a knowing look making her blush.

 

“I will be taking my leave now just think about me and I will come find you” Ade said offering his services at anytime. Kagome thanked him and then was left alone in her room, realizing that in her explorations she had not gone outside at all she decided to take the advantage. Kagome walked out the door to the right and stepped into the beautiful courtyard that surrounded the castle. She sat by the edge of the small pond and watched the huge koi fish that swam lazily about in the pool. They were beautiful each one a mixture of gold, silver, and white making small currents in the water as they bobbed around the bottom of the lake. I wonder if Inuyasha has even realized I'm gone? It has been three days now has he tried to go get me yet? It was a pretty nasty fight, would he leave me there for this long? Kagome sat in silence thinking of the man that she thought she loved. She looked to the sky that was slowly beginning to dim and the small stars that were peaking about in the sky. She missed him, she couldn't deny that tomorrow she would ask Sesshomaru if she could send word to him.

 

 

 

Inuyasha and the group were searching threw the countryside at a ridiculous pace. A worried and frantic half demon led the group annoyed that he had to stop every hour or so just so they could catch their breath. He had left Mrs. Higurashi's house with a promise to find Kagome. And he was now trying to hold that promise to the best of his abilities, unfortunately due to the spring times finicky weather all traces of sent that he had ounce had of her was gone. Inuyasha was so scared that he almost began to cry jumping from tree to tree attempting to get a whiff of her tantalizing scent. It was past nightfall now and his human companions were slowing down more then ever even Kilala and Shippo were tired.

 

“I think we should stop now Inuyasha you don't want to spend all your strength” Miroku's wise but tired voice shouted up to him. Miroku was right he had to let them rest and to be honest he was tired himself. They settled down and made camp Inuyasha sat in a nearby tree slightly dosing but his worry for Kagome kept clouding his dreams. Don't worry Kagome, I will find you I won't let anything happen to you.

 

 

 

Akina walked into Kagome's room alerting her that dinner would be served soon and that she would ounce again be dining with Sesshomaru. Though she had already been threw it and had a perfectly fine experience she found herself slightly nervous again. But standing confidently she marched towards the dinning hall. Strolling threw the door that entered the dining hall her confidence slightly faltered when she saw that Rin was not present, gathering her dwindling courage she sat on the soft pillow that was on the ground and sat and waited for her two hosts to arrive. Sesshomaru entered from the same way he had before but Kagome was shocked to see that Rin was not with him ether. Sesshomaru took his seat, a spot away from Kagome and waited for her to pour his tea; Almost forgetting her place Kagome reached over, slightly faltering with the hot tea, and poured some for both him and herself. Then, deciding it was necessary to calm her nerves, poured both of them some sake as well. Sesshomaru was slightly amused at this she was nerves to the point where even a human would be able to see it.

 

“Um, will Rin not be joining us tonight lord Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked tentatively hopping that the answer would be that she was simply late.

 

“She has retired already, Rin usually turns in around sunset” answered Sesshomaru. Kagome's stomach fell, so she stuck with him, Kagome sat in silence for a moment before the food entered threw the door being carried by the same two demons that brought them breakfast. Sesshomaru and Kagome were now served the same thing both trays baring homemade fried rice, miso soup, and sushi rolls, sliced steak and lobster. Kagome let out a hardly audible squeak of pleasure. She hardly ever ate anything like this unless it was a birthday at home and certainly never when she was with Inuyasha. Kagome dug into her food in a vary none lady like fashion but quickly checked herself giving an embarrassed blush. Sesshomaru calmly ate his meal watching Kagome out of the corner of his eye you must not eat this way often with that half breed eat up little one there is plenty Sesshomaru thought to himself. Little one? I am beginning to become soft to this female already, just like Rin Sesshomaru thought quickly shoving the thought aside. He slowly continued his meal in silence before remembering something interesting Ade had told him.

 

“Tell me about this world of yours beyond the well, Kagome” Sesshomaru said in his all knowing voice that slide smoothly across the table and landed on her as if a smack in the face.

 

“How did you…” Kagome barley squeaked out her initial joy of the delicious meal vanishing from her mind.

 

“ Ade told me, he saw it in your subconscious mind while you were unconscious, I am most intrigued, ” Sesshomaru said in what Kagome could not deny was an amazingly sexy voice. Kagome spilled everything at that point she told him of the demon that had pulled her threw the well and Kikyo's and Inuyasha's betrayals. She also told him much about her time and many of the advancements and studies she even told him about the Americas and which apparently had been only thought a myth to the highly educated and mystical at this time period. Kagome didn't think she ever had to explain so much in her life, and Sesshomaru simply sat and took in everything she said without question. A nice thing was that he never told her to shut up or interrupted her or anything and she realized that Akina was right he could be a gentleman when he wanted to be. After she had rambled on threw the entire meal she finally stopped, running out of things to talk about after explaining many of the scientific and philosophical theories of the future. Sesshomaru listened intrigued by how the future had become but disturbed by one thing, she had said that most people thought of demons as nothing but a myth. How could that be? What became of him! 500 years was not long from now in full-blooded demon years.

 

“I shall like to visit this place sometime,” Sesshomaru said with a curt node.

 

“Well, actually myself and Inuyasha have thus far been the only two people that were able to cross the barrier… um, my lord” Kagome muttered afraid that he may anger at the thought of Inuyasha doing something that he could not. Sesshomaru simply sat there their empty trays sitting on the table in front of them. Suddenly Sesshomaru stood

 

“I will be in the main courtyard if you require my services” Sesshomaru stated matter-a-factly before exiting the room. Kagome sat there in silence surprised by his abrupt departure. Kagome got up slowly and began in route to her room before remembering that she had completely forgot to ask if she could inform Inuyasha of her whereabouts. Sighing softly she trailed slowly after him following his demon aura. Kagome exited a door into a large garden that she had yet too have seen. There was a large gazebo in the center of the garden that head an abundance of silk pillows and cushions for sitting and around it held thousands of flowers much that she could not name. There was a stream that circled the entire area and had random stone bridge to step across. Upon closer inspection she found Sesshomaru meditating under that gazebo looking peaceful and subdued to the point that Kagome was regretful to bother him.

 

“Um, Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked in a small voice, after waiting for a response and not getting one she decided to go ahead with her request.

“I was wondering if it was possible that I would be able to contact Inuyasha and inform him of where I am?” Kagome said waiting for a reaction from the lord. Sesshomarus eyes opened and he rose for a moment then as if on command a small hawk flew into the clearing landing as a woman on the ground in a bowing position. She was stunning, her hair interwoven with feathers was a soft brown gold hue and from her lips pointed in a beak shape but still held a soft appearance.

 

“ Find Inuyasha tell him that his human women is here and that she is unharmed and is receiving payment for a debt” Sesshomaru said dismissing the demon with a wave of his hand. Kagome smiled,

 

“Thank you… lord Sesshomaru” she said before turning to leave, but upon doing so she realized that she was desperately thinking of a way to stay and that she enjoyed his company immensely. Turning back around she blurted out the first thing that came to mind

 

“It's a beautiful night,” she said blushing at her stupidity. Hello earth to Kagome! He's a demon lord I highly doubt he cares about the stars! Kagome thought to herself while blushing about what he might think of her. Sesshomaru looked at the girl she was so innocent, like Rin, during this time period as a human girl she would be a woman now and well on her way to having a family. But from what she said at dinner in her time she was still an adolescent and in demon years she was practically a toddler! Sesshomaru looked at the girl who was now staring straight at the sky most likely to attempt to hide the blush that Sesshomaru knew graced her cheeks. He was beginning to take a liking to her he knew it. He could talk to her and she intrigued him more then any person before just as Rin had he gravitated towards their innocence the problem was that unlike Rin it was not in a fatherly manner but in a lusting one. Kagome looked at Sesshomaru who was now intently studying her face which made her blush more but gathering her courage she stepped onto the plat form and lowered herself on the soft mountains of pillows, it was vary comfortable. Kagome sighed and looked at the Demon lord

 

“ I never did thank you for helping me that day, Um …my lord” Kagome said. Sesshomaru was slightly shocked by her use or `her lord' because it meant that she saw that Sesshomaru ruled her this pleased him in a weird way. Sesshomaru poured both of them some tea and handed Kagome a cup she smiled gently and took it from him forgetting about all the rules she boldly took a drink before her host. They sat in silence relaxing to the sound of running water when Kagome was surprised to see a spot of light in the corner of her eye. Turning her head to spot it she was surprised again when nothing was there, Kagome saw this light many times and was now periodically whipping her head around in attempt to see them though never able to catch a glimpse until after a little while she began to hear laughter. Kagome looked around again before her gaze settled on Sesshomaru who was looking at her now thoroughly amused. Kagome felt a small bit of her hair being taken up and twisted around until it had been braided into a small braid at her temple; Kagome looked out of the corner of her eye and spotted three little fairies giggling by her ear. All were nude there little bodies no bigger then Kagome's middle finger all three were young girls seeming to be the same age as her self, they had translucent wings that shimmered with glittery powder and wore a gnarled of flowers around their heads. Kagome's eyes got wide and a smile went across her face as she turned her head but was met with nothing but giggling air.

 

“Fairies! You have fairies in your garden” Kagome squealed in delight as she attempted to find some more. Sesshomaru stared with an amused expression on his face,

 

“I have never heard of fairies those are simple insect demon and they are quite the little nuisances” Sesshomaru stated. Insect demons hu? I wonder what other fairytale creatures are nothing more the demons and how many of them still exist! Kagome thought with excitement. She looked at Sesshomaru whose eyes followed some invisible being, which she assumed was the fairies that her eyes were too slow to detect. Though he seemed serious when he called them a nuisance she thought that he probably liked them more then he let on. Kagome laid down on the pillows and watched as the little lights and giggles flew in and out of her tiered consciousness. Before dosing off into a deep sleep all the while thinking of how Sesshomaru was not that bad at all.

 

Sesshomaru sat across from Kagome he had come out here in the first place to escape the thoughts he was having for this human. Was it possible that he may have inherited his fathers love for humans? He was becoming increasingly soft with them, especially after Rin had begun to stay with him. She was lovely he had to admit, with that scent of his half brother gone he also found her pleasing to smell. She had soft features that brought out her natural beauty and her long dark hair, such a contrast to his own, made him want to see them entwined together, possibly across a pillow on his bed. Sesshomaru shook his head this was simply lust she would be gone as soon as his debt was paid maybe sooner if Inuyasha had something to say about it and then it would all go away. He watched her sleep peacefully, her mouth slightly parted and her chest rising and falling with each breath she took. Sesshomaru tried to imagine her as a demon, she would look stunning as a cat he thought. Small pointed ears, long thick tail, natural grace, yes, she would look lovely that way. Sesshomaru sighed he was defiantly becoming soft leaning down he gently picked up the practically weightless girl and took her too her room stripping her of her kimono he changed her into a sleeping gown and laid her down in her bed. Hanging up her kimono he thoughtfully looked at her ounce more before turning and leaving the room.

 

 

 

Inuyasha sat in the tree above their camp, slightly dosing; it was close to dawn when he heard the beating of wings. Standing on the limb of the tree he was surprised when a female hawk demon change from her bird form to her human form and land on the branch in front of him. Inuyasha stayed put looking at the girl, ready to jump into action if necessary, the women stood.

 

“Are you Inuyasha?” she asked.

 

“Why do you want to know?” barked inuyasha not in the mood for some ridicules fight when all he wanted to do was find Kagome.

 

“I am a messenger for lord Sesshomaru he sends word about your human, she staying at his castle, she has earned a debt from my lord and is getting her just payment at the castle,” she said flying off without another word. Inuyasha let out a sigh though he wasn't happy about Kagome being with Sesshomaru he at least knew she was safe, a demon debt was not something you play around with and he knew that she was safe. They would begin traveling in the morning.
