This is my first time doing a dark fic..so to speak. Or a character death, but I tried so..be nice ::hides::

Chapter One: Live For Me

She was not going to let him win. They were losing fast, she had to think of something. She nocked an arrow and pointed it at Naraku. "Go!" She released the arrow, it was surrounded by the purest of light. It struck it's target.

 

"Get back, damn it!" InuYasha screamed as he dodged another one of Naraku's tentacles. The sky was almost black. The battle cries of her friends were rang in her ears. She was told to stay back, and fire arrows from a distance. But she was so far back, that her arrows were being intercepted by Naraku's mindless Youkai. She had run out from her hiding spot into the battle field. Dead Youkai littered the grass, blood every where. She was having trouble breathing from the strong stench of death. She knew InuYasha and Sesshomarou and even Kirara, were in pure torment.

 

She looked around. Sango and Miroku were fighting off Youkai side by side. Kirara was getting the Youkai that would pass through, the ones that Sango and Miroku couldn't see. They had left Shippou back at the Village with Kaede, he made a small fit but in the end he agreed with them. Naraku was such a bastard he would stoop to the level of going after the Kit to get to them. Sesshomarou was fighting with all his glory. He was going directly for Naraku, as well as InuYasha and herself. Kikyou stood ontop of one of the hills, firing off arrow after arrow. This battle had been going on for hours. Everyone was at their end.

 

She stood her ground, she put all her energy into these arrows. She was firing in sync with Kikyou, hoping to combine their Miko energy and purify Naraku. Kikyou looked at her with a nod and she nocked an arrow. She did the same. They fired the arrows at the same time. They struck Naraku with a vengeance. They blew him apart. Only his head and a few nasty body parts hovered around him with the spider mark on a piece of flesh, that was on his back.

 

"Kaze no Kizu!" InuYasha yelled and hit Tetsusaiga onto the ground as a wave of energy flew at Naraku. Sesshomarou was quick into action. He raised Toukijin and thrust in an arc motion. The sword that was made from the fang of the Youkai that broke Tetsusaiga. "Dragon Strike!" Another wave of energy swept through and hit Naraku at the same time as the Kaze no Kizu.

 

Naraku grinned and formed a barrier at the last second. He started to regenerate. The young Miko saw this. She ran over to InuYasha and stood by his side. "Damn it Kagome get out of sight!" He growled. Sesshomarou looked at the two and decided to go after Naraku, to hold him back. Sesshomarou had become on good terms with InuYasha, just to kill Naraku.

 

Kagura had died, along with Kohaku. Naraku killed Kohaku infront of Sango, hoping that she would not be able to fight because of her lose. She had mourned for her brother in the beginning, but got her footing and joined the battle. He had killed Kagura when she had turned her fan against him. He crushed her heart and threw her at Sesshomarou. Sesshomarou moved her away from the battle field. No one knew it, but he planned on reviving her later, if Tensaiga would allow it.

 

"No! Use the Red Tetsusaiga and the Kaze no Kizu and I will fire an arrow it should kill him!" Kagome screamed back. She looked at Kikyou and sent her a silent plea with her eyes. Kikyou caught her look and nodded.

 

Kagome started to nock an arrow..that's when it happened. Naraku started to laugh and regenerated fully and threw Sesshomarou back. Sesshomarou remained on his feet, his breathing was slightly labored. Naraku had thrown him back with a last minute barrier. "Baka, what are you waiting for?!" Sesshomarou yelled out to his brother.

 

"You will never kill me!" Naraku knew he had to take one of the brothers out. Sesshomarou was too quick, he couldn't get a decent hit on the Tai-Youkai. InuYasha was not an easy target either. The brothers stood equally in strength. InuYasha had become a lot stronger over the years. InuYasha always protected the Miko, and she him. If the Miko was gone, InuYasha would surely lose his head, and cloud his judgment with his anguish. "Say good-bye, InuYasha!" Naraku sent one of his tentacles out at InuYasha.

 

InuYasha didn't see it before it was too late. Even so, it wouldn't kill him. But something else hit him from the side. He heard a cry of his name, cut short of one in agony. He was shoved out of the way by something.

 

Kagome saw the tentacle coming. She knew if InuYasha became injured, they would surely lose. She did what she thought was right. She threw herself against InuYasha, pushing him out of the way. She took it directly threw her stomach. The tentacle retracted and flew back into Naraku. She felt herself falling, but didn't hit the ground. She was scooped up by familiar arms, yes, she knew those arms well.

 

Naraku laughed and looked at the sight before him. Everyone stopped and looked at the fallen Miko. She died saving the one she loved..InuYasha. He would enjoy this...he wouldn't kill the Hanyou yet. He wanted to see the Miko die in his arms first, watch the pain on his face..the lose. Yes, he loved to see people in pain. The Monk and Taiji cried out for their friend. Even Sesshomarou stopped to look at her.

 

"Kagome...Kagome! Don't you dare die on me! Don't go..please wake up! Kagome!" InuYasha cradled the broken girl in his arms. She had a hole through her stomach, he was amazed that she was still breathing..but he could smell death creeping up on her.

 

Kagome smiled weakly and looked up at InuYasha. She lifted her hand, which was covered in her own blood. She touched his cheek with the tips of her fingers. He was crying...her own tears stung in her eyes. "InuYasha..I..love you....I wanted...to protect you...like you do me..." Her voice was broken and raspy. It hurt to speak, but she had to tell him. She felt his grip on her tighten. "Kagome please don't die...I need you...I..love you too." He let the tears fall freely from his eyes..he let another die, he failed to protect her. "I love you too.."

 

She wiped his tears away with the pad of her thumb. "Tell-.." Her voice was stopped. She started coughing, blood ran down her chin. "Tell..everyone..I love them.." She choked back another sob. "Live...live..for me..InuYasha...I...love...you.." She smiled as death claimed her, she sighed and went limp in his arms.

 

"Kagome? Kagome?! Kagome! Don't you dare die on me wench! Not now! KAGOME!!" InuYasha closed his eyes and set the girl down on the grass. He didn't dare open his eyes, afraid that it was real, of what he would see. "Sango, Miroku...get Kagome.." He opened his eyes. Blood red eyes glared at Naraku. His fangs grew in size, his claws like knives. Jagged purple strips on his cheeks.

 

Sesshomarou actually mourned for the Miko, she was a brave woman. She didn't deserve to die by the hands of Naraku. Even though his face didn't show it, he mourned for all of them, even his brother. They lost a Mother, Sister, Best Friend, and an intended Mate for his brother. He looked at Naraku and backed up. "InuYasha...he is yours." Sesshomarou believed in honor, and respect. InuYasha had earned this over the years. He had never tried to kill InuYasha, just push him along, make him stronger. Not saying he didn't enjoy pissing off his brother, but he never intended to kill him. Now, he would not disrespect his brother, and take what was his. Naraku was now InuYasha's to kill. And he would not stand in the way.

 

Kikyou looked on at the scene in horror. If she could cry, she would have. Even though she was jealous of the young girl from the future, she didn't deserve that. She was protecting the one she loved. Kikyou set her sights on InuYasha. She had never felt such a power, rage, anguish, pain, suffering. She never wanted to feel that again, especially from the person it was coming from. She had never seen InuYasha in true Youkai form. She slowly set her bow down. She knew he was the one to defeat Naraku..even Sesshomarou knew that.

 

Sango and Miroku raced over to their fallen friend. Sango cried out for her friend, she held her head in her lap, stroking her hair. Miroku wrapped his arms around Sango and placed a hand on Kagome's shoulder. He placed a barrier around them. The last thing they wanted is for Naraku to do anymore damage to Kagome's body.

 

Naraku was laughing and looking at the scene in amusement. The Miko was gone, and now the Hanyou was a mindless beast. 'Yes, this will be easy.' He thought. He saw Sesshomarou step back, he loved that. He saw Kikyou put down her bow, he loved that as well. He was totally oblivious to the fact, that they knew InuYasha was going to kill him. He looked at InuYasha again. He was in full Youkai form, and held Tetsusaiga in his hands.

 

InuYasha let out a howl, no one ever wanted to hear again. It held unbridled pain, and rage. He sheathed Tetsusaiga and glared at Naraku. His eyes turned back to their normal golden color, but a red haze remained. "Naraku you bastard! You will die, now!"

 

InuYasha ran at him with such speed, that even Sesshomarou would have a hard time matching. He hit Naraku's barrier hard, slicing right threw it. Naraku's eyes widen with surprise. InuYasha ripped through him. Naraku hadn't expected that the Hanyou would be able to break through his barrier, yet alone even fight. He thought the Hanyou wouldn't be able to fight through his lose. It had the opposite affect. He was stronger than ever, fueled by his rage. InuYasha tore him to pieces. He unsheathed Tetsusaiga and used the Kaze no Kizu and obliterated him off the face of the Earth. Naraku let out one last strangle cry.

 

InuYasha dropped to his knees and looked at his hands. His head flew back and he howled again, digging his claws into the earth. He heard his friends calling to him...they needed him. He slowly stood and staggered over to them. He dropped back down to his knees beside Sango. He took Kagome from her and cradled her against his chest. "Why? I would have survived that..." He looked at Miroku, and he shook his head.

 

"She loved you InuYasha, that's all she saw. She saw you in danger, and reacted the way a Mate should have..she protected you. Your souls were bound together, little brother." Sesshomarou gazed upon the sight before him. He never wanted to see this again. After all the wars and battles he had been in, this one was the worse. An innocent girl from the future, who was full of life, happiness, died. She tried to see the good in everyone, Human and Youkai alike. She was fearless, she had even stood on her tip toes, in Sesshomarou's face and called him a baka. Stupid..maybe..fearless, yes.

 

InuYasha looked up, Kikyou was standing above him. She knelt down beside him and smiled. "InuYasha, you love her, do you not?" InuYasha didn't dare speak, he couldn't. He just nodded and hugged her tighter against his chest.

 

"I was wrong to see her as my copy. She is so much better than I was, when I was alive. She is her own person, never a reincarnation. A powerful Miko, and a loving, and wonderful woman. She deserved you InuYasha, and you deserve her."

 

Sango snapped at her. "Why are you telling him this?!" The Taiji screamed and glared at her. Miroku held her in his arms, and she buried her nose into his chest.

 

"I can bring her back..."

 

Everyone looked at Kikyou. She looked sincere. She put her hand on InuYasha's shoulder and stood up. "InuYasha, you wish to save her?"

 

"Y-.yes..." Kikyou motioned for him to stand. InuYasha stood up with Kagome in his arms bridal style.

 

"Then I must die again...Is that what you want?"

 

"Kikyou, I love Kagome. Please save her...she's all I have."

 

"Before I forget..." Kikyou reached into her robes and pulled out a pure Shikon Jewel of the Four Souls. She had retrieved it from the ground, it was forgotten in all of the confusion. She took one of Kagome's hands in her own and frowned. The young girls hands were cold, like hers. She opened the girls hand and placed the Jewel in her palm and closed the girls hand around it. "You were the rightful owner of the Jewel, you surpassed me in strength, will, and power. I give back what is rightfully yours." Kikyou closed her eyes and brought a hand to her chest, and raised her index finger and started chanting. What was left of Kagome's soul flew from Kikyou and into Kagome. All the life that was stored into the soul, all of the happiness, came back to Kagome. All of the stolen souls of the dead women, descended into the heavens. Kikyou body faded away and disappeared. In a flash of light, she was gone. Her Miko robes were placed on the ground, were she stood, folded.

 

"Inu...Yasha?" Kagome choked out.
