Kikyo had been outside at the time I was arriving and I saw her talking to Naraku on the porch, he didn't seem too happy and at the sight of me he took a glance at Kikyo and went to his car, he half smiled at me as he passed me and I waved at him goodbye. Kikyo arched her brow at me and stared at my clothing.
“If mom bought that for you, I'm seriously going to yell at her.” I shook my head; I should have known that Kikyo would see something weird in me.
“Sango got it for me; she said it was my birthday present in advance.” I explained and she nodded.
“Where have you been?” she asked as she walked to the door and opened it.
“Sango and I went to her boyfriend's concert… Inuyasha was there.” Kikyo turned to look at me immediately; I tried hard not to smile because I knew she would kill me for saying his name.
“Oh really? How's… did he ask about me?” she casually said and I shook my head. “Well, I wouldn't be surprised… it has been 3 hours since I left him at the movies.”
“And how long was Naraku here with you?” I asked and she shot me a dirty look.
“My relationship with Naraku is none of your business,” Kikyo simply said as she went upstairs; I followed her.
“Yeah but if you're going to start a relationship with Inuyasha… he might as well like to know, right?” I smirked and Kikyo stood there quiet.
“Kagome!” my mother interrupted.
Well, I should have known that my mom wouldn't like the fact that I went to a bar in my state but… it's not like I can change my life just because I'm having a baby. I went to my mother's room as Kikyo slammed the door of hers, I'm proud I told her that… she can't just play with people's emotions. I entered to my mother's room and found her reading a book in bed.
“I'm sorry, mom but I…”
“Kagome, you have some new responsibilities now… do you think I would have gone to a concert when I was pregnant with you?” I thought about it.
“No, but it could have been fun for both of us.” My mother shot me the `don't play smart' look and I sighed. “I just wanted to remind myself how it was to be free, like to do everything I wanted to…”
“I know you didn't mean to get pregnant but now that you are, you should realize that things won't be the same… do you honestly believe that I would spend every night taking care of your child while you go out and have fun?” I looked at my mother and even though I wanted to throw a lamp at her… she was right.
“Okay, I won't do stupid things anymore… I promise.” She shook her head, okay; now I was getting confused… didn't she just say that I should act like a mother?
“Kagome, I'm not asking you to stop having your normal life because obviously I can't but I do want you to think about your son or daughter first…” I nodded and she came towards me and kissed my forehead. “Now go and sleep, you must be tired.”
I hugged my mother lightly before going out of the room and went to mine, I lay on my bed as I sighed heavily; my mother was being honest and I was being careless. She was right, my life wouldn't be the same ever since that night I spent with Kouga and of course it's very different now that I'm going to have a baby and maybe I should stop thinking about what will make me feel better and start thinking about what my son, meaning boy or girl, would need. I didn't want to become one of those mothers that weren't there for their kids events or that forgot about them when it was time to pick them up at school… I didn't want to become that. So, from now on… no rock concerts, no overnights, no junk food and no distractions; I have to focus my energy on my child and my child only.
But wait; that would mean…
“No Inuyasha,” I whispered out loud and realized how much I cared for him.
And I knew I did but after tonight he probably doesn't feel the same about me, not now that he thinks I have a boyfriend. It's okay; everything will be fine… who needs love when I have his friendship? Things… it will be okay.

English class was becoming boring and I had never had this feeling before, this might come to the fact that Inuyasha wasn't sitting next to me today. I sighed heavily as my teacher explained one of the greatest pieces of literature in history, “The Odyssey”. I was getting tired of Odysseus trips around the world trying to get back home; it was an awesome story… I'm aware of that but… I wasn't really focusing today. A ring from the bell and I was saved, time for lunch. My stomach had been rumbling for food during the last half hour and if I didn't eat something soon, someone was going to pay for it.
“You look kind of angry today, is something wrong?” Sango asked as she approached me, I sighed.
“Kinda… I've been…” my cell phone was ringing and the number name my heart skip a beat, Sango looked at me surprised and I picked up. “Kouga,”
“Kagome, I'm so so so so so so so so…”
“I get the point,” I cut him off and he sighed.
“I know I shouldn't have called you while I was in that state but… let me just tell you that what I said wasn't a lie, I really miss you and I love you.” I half smiled, I couldn't be mad at him no matter how hard I tried but there was something that should be told.
“Kouga, I have something very important to tell you.” I said taking a short breath in between.
“What? Kags? I can't hear you.” He said and I raised my voice.
“I have something important…” a loud buzz interrupted my words. “Hello? Kouga?”
“Ka… got… hear…” I listened to his words vaguely and immediately hung up.
“What happened?” Sango asked curious and I sighed.
“Nothing important, let's eat…”
We bought our food at the cafeteria and immediately retreated to the yard to eat alone as we chatted. Sango told me Miroku really liked me, in fact, he found me fascinating how I made Inuyasha sing since he apparently never does. He invited me to his band practice because he thinks I have great taste in music which in reality isn't mine, it's actually Kouga's and I listened to those songs so much that they grew on me. Miroku seemed like fun and as long as Sango was happy, I would be as well.
“Why is he so alone?” she asked as she pointed behind me, I looked back and saw Inuyasha sitting under a tree with a book between his hands.
“I must want some alone time.” I answered as I chewed on my apple; Sango smiled and took away my apple.
“I think you should join him.” I was about to laugh but I realize how unfunny this situation was, since our conversation last night so I thought I should just shut up.
“Yeah, I think you should jump off a building…” I kept on eating and Sango let out a giggle.
“So he's the reason of your crankiness, what happened? You two were so cozy last night and now you don't even want to see him.” I rolled my eyes and sighed.
“Well, remember my talk with Kouga earlier?” Sango nodded. “He also called me last night and I said something to him that implied that I was with him as in…”
“Oh, so Inuyasha now thinks you have a boyfriend?” I didn't even need to answer, Sango kept going. “But you have to explain him about Kouga! You have to tell him that…”
“That what? That now that Kouga is in a different country, Inuyasha has nothing to worry about except for the fact that I'm carrying his baby?” my friend looked at me with mortified but she knew I was right. “Things will never work out between us… that's just how it is, I have new responsibilities now.”
“Okay, this is depressing me… new subject; I'm having some sort of… relationship problems.” I arched my brow, Miroku was the sweetest thing to Sango; what could be wrong?
“Is he cheating on you?” she shook her head. “Is he gay?” another shake. “Is he a three legged monster?” she shook her head again this time with some giggles. “Then what's the problem?”
“Every time I'm kissing him, he's a great kisser by the way, well… when I just feel like it's getting good he just like backs away and leaves me alone. Is something wrong with me?” Sango looked at me concerned, I really didn't know what to say so I just did what every other girl would say to her friend.
“No, of course not… maybe he doesn't want your relationship to go that fast, he probably wants to wake one step at a time,” Sango nodded comprehensively.
The bell rang and Sango grabbed her stuff, I walked next to her when I felt someone tapping my shoulder; we both looked back and found Inuyasha behind me. Sango just pointed towards the door and left us alone. I wanted to say something, anything but words didn't seem to come out of my mouth. Inuyasha scratched the back of his head and let a heavy breath out before he began.
“Did I miss something today?” he asked and shook my head.
“If it's okay for me to ask, where were you?” He half smiled and grabbed his bag.
“I had to get paid for last Friday, the owner asked us to come by Monday and I had to go because I really don't trust Miroku with my money after his days in re… well, it doesn't matter.” I nodded and walked next to him. “I really have to get this off my chest, I'm sorry I reacted that way…”
“What are you talking about?” he closed his eyes and grunted.
“You know… when your boyfriend called and I acted so… stupid.” I smiled and shook my head.
“That… it really doesn't matter.” He nodded and cleared his throat.
“So, who's the lucky guy?” it was my turn to sigh because there was in fact no lucky guy, it was just me but I had to push Inuyasha away from this whole mess so I just went on.
“This guy I've liked for a long time, no one special.” I looked around and noticed no one was left. “We better get to class,”
“Right, I'll see you at your house…” I looked at him confused. “I have another study session with Kikyo tonight”
“Of course,” After that, I practically ran to my next class.

I listened to Kikyo fake giggles for about three hours now, Inuyasha wasn't trying to be funny which made it even worse and made her look stupid but whatever flirting trick she was using… it was working. Inuyasha was supposed to study here for an hour when my mom invited him to dinner, then Kikyo invited him to watch a movie with her at the living room and he accepted. It wasn't any of my business but… what did Inuyasha see in my sister? I guess the same thing everyone sees in her, the incarnation of perfection… so perfect it even rimes. I was getting tired and my book started to bore me, I was at the living room reading since my usual spot was occupied by my sister and her student/boy toy.
“If you're going upstairs, please turn off the lights.” Kikyo suggested and I yawned as I nodded.
“No, keep them on… I can't see that well in the dark.” Inuyasha said and Kikyo giggled.
“Don't worry; I think we're done watching the movie.” I heard her whisper as I went upstairs. “Kagome, the lights please!”
I rolled my eyes but did as she asked me because if I didn't she would be bitching about it the next day. I went upstairs and went to my mother's room to find her with the first echo I had, I smiled and she cleaned her tears.
“Kagome, I didn't know you were here.” She said sniffing; I sat next to her and stared at my baby's picture.
“I can't believe this is actually in me,” My mother hugged me tenderly. “Tomorrow is my next echo; I want to see how he or she looks like.”
“I'm sure my grandson or granddaughter is okay, healthy and good.” I kissed my mother's cheek.
“Thanks, goodnight mom.”
“Sleep well sweetheart.”
I went to the bathroom with the intention of brushing my teeth when I immediately caught the smell of French fries and I felt like eating a whole bowl full of them, with some ketchup and sugar and whipped cream. I know it's stupid but this really sounded good at the time, I had to resist it though because I wasn't supposed to eat that late at night… however, my hunger was bigger than my will so I decided to go to the kitchen. I had to turn on the lights because I couldn't see a thing since the TV was off, Inuyasha must have left and Kikyo probably went to her room.
“Ouch,” I heard and got scared and soon enough I reached the light switch.
I wanted to throw up at the moment, there they were Inuyasha and Kikyo… he wasn't wearing his shirt and she was about to get off her skirt. I quickly turned off the lights again and ran back to my room trying to wipe off the disgusting image.
