Sleeping was almost impossible for me after that, I heard the door shut and I supposed Inuyasha had already left. I closed my eyes and saw them together stripping off their clothes. I turned to the left in my bed and saw Kikyo's hands on her skirt; I turned to the right and saw Inuyasha without his shirt. I covered my eyes with my pillow and I could clearly listen to her voice saying “ouch” in the dark… he was probably trying to take off her bra when… ew! Enough! This was driving me crazy and I just had to get to the bottom of this, if Kikyo was planning to fu… scr… to sleep with him, well, I have to find out! I threw my pillow away from me and buried myself under the sheets; the lack of air seemed to help me sleep.
The next day I was sure I wanted to know what happened between my sister and him but apparently destiny had other plans, that day my sister went early to her college classes and I ended up having breakfast alone with mom. I had to take this day off, today was my second ultrasound which meant it would be my second's baby picture; he or she seemed to like pictures since I could feel him kicking against me excitedly, as I smiled I gently rubbed my belly and placed the plates on the sink.
“Ready to go honey?” My mom asked, I simply nodded and followed her outside.
Once inside the hospital I got on that squeaky bed and breathed normally, my baby was fine so there was no reason for me to worry. The doctor came in soon and ordered me to pull my shirt up a bit, enough for him to put a very cold gel and rub it around my belly. A few minutes later, I was seeing my baby on a non color screen.
“Well, looks like the baby is healthy.” I breathed satisfied and closed my eyes for a second, “Would you like to know the sex?”
“Yes!” My mother half yelled, I immediately opened my eyes.
“No, I'd like to keep it a surprise.” The doctor nodded comprehensively and my mother grunted at me. “Mom, it's my choice.”
“Couldn't I know? The doctor could whisper it on my ear and…” I shook my head before she finished the phrase, she would slip it accidentally and I didn't want to take that risk. “Okay, I think I'll have to wait to the due date… when is it?”
“She still has a long way to go, having any mood swings yet?” I thought about it and shook my head. “She's four and a half months; she'll probably be ready for birth in another four months and a half… if not less.”
“Less?” the doctor nodded.
“Sometimes babies can't hold it any longer and have to come out,” he chuckled and handed me a napkin, I cleaned my belly. “But you don't have to worry about that now, I'll tell you more about it the next time you come by which will be… in two months.”
“Okay, thanks.” I said as pulled down my shirt.
“Try to eat healthy food Kagome, probably have your mom send you food for school instead of eating what they serve in the cafeteria.” My mom nodded.
We got up, thanked the doctor once again and left his office after paying for his service. My mom wanted to drive me off at school but since it was almost lunch time she decided it would be better for us to have lunch at home. My mom eagerly prepared for me a big bowl of salad that included asparagus, tomatoes, shrimp, and lettuce. Although I'm not a big fan of veggies, I knew I had to eat it so I didn't mention anything as I tried to push my salad down my throat. My mom ate the same thing and as she told me how she got cravings when she was pregnant with me we both finished our dishes. My mom kissed my cheek and left me alone since she had to go to work, I went to the living room but when I remembered what my sister was about to do there I changed my mind and went up to my room. My phone started ringing even before I reached the second stair.
“Hello?” I answered and heard my best friend grunt.
“Where have you been? I was sick worried all day!” I rolled my eyes.
“Sorry mom, I'll call next time.” Sango busted in giggles and I couldn't help and do it as well. “What's up?”
“Miroku invited me to his band practice, guess who's coming with me.” I shook my head.
“Yeah, I'm really not in the mood to listen to music… maybe some other time.” She let out a heavy breath.
“I thought you might say that so…” I felt someone tapping my shoulder, I jumped a bit scared and turned around to find Sango.
“You scared me! How did you get in?” I asked as I tried to catch my breath.
“The door was unlocked, we are going.” I shook my head and took a seat in the living room.
“No, I'm not… I'm really tired,” I faked a yawn but Sango arched her brow with disbelief.
“You're coming with me and that's final, I don't want to be alone there… I might feel weird, pretty please? With cherry on the top?” I sighed heavily and Sango squealed excited.
“With one condition, I get to pick at what time we leave.” Sango nodded and practically pulled me out of my house.
We pulled over in front this giant house and I thought we were at the wrong place, Sango simply got out and went to the door and rang on the doorbell where Miroku showed up and placed a kiss on her lips.
“You made it, you too Kagome.” He said as he directed a smile at me, I returned the gesture and we went upstairs.
We entered a room where there were drums, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, a bass, amplifiers, microphones and an electric keyboard. Inuyasha was sitting on a pillow on the floor and I noticed that the seconds his eyes laid on me, my face went bright red… I couldn't even look at him in the eyes after last night! Miroku brought two chairs for us to sit, he had a notebook on his hand and we heard a door being open.
“Hey! I thought you weren't coming anymore!” Miroku greeted a man with long hair tied up in a pony tail; he looked at me and flashed a smiled.
“Are we going to practice or not?” Inuyasha asked, he sounded kind of desperate.
“Yeah, girls this is Bankotsu… Ban, this is my girlfriend Sango and that's her friend Kagome. Now get your ass to the drums.” He nodded and played a short kit.
“So, what's happening today?” he asked once he stopped, Inuyasha sighed.
“He's got a new song and wants to try it out,” he pointed at Miroku.
“It's a great song, trust me.” Bankotsu arched his brow and Inuyasha rolled his eyes.
“If it's that great, why don't you let me read it first?” Miroku sighed heavily.
“Because it won't sound the same, now will you please just play the notes I wrote for you? Ban, you just follow his rhythm.” They both nodded and Miroku played a few notes on the keyboard before starting.
You let me violate you,
You let me desecrate you
You let me penetrate you,
You let me penetrate you,
You let me complicate you
Help me, I broke apart my insides,
Help me, I broke apart my insides,
Help me, I've got no soul to sell
Help me, the only thing that works for me,
Help me, the only thing that works for me,
Help me, get away from myself
I want to fuck you like an animal
I want to fuck you like an animal
“Alright, stop right there…” Inuyasha said and I stared at Miroku completely awed, Sango giggled a very dry one.
“But that's where the song comes alive!” Miroku claimed and Bankotsu rolled his eyes as he got up from his feet and snatched the notebook were Miroku had written the lyrics.
“You can have my isolation; you can have the hate that it brings. You can have my absence of faith, you can have my everything. Help me tear down my reason, help me its' your sex I can smell? What the hell? Is this back when you were in rehab?” Bankotsu asked.
“Rehab?” Sango asked scared and Miroku laughed.
“Just a joke, we always exaggerate.” He defended himself although by the look on Bankotsu's face, it was more than that but Sango didn't notice and just laughed.
“I should have stopped you at `violate you', don't take this the wrong way but… what were you thinking?!” Inuyasha asked and Miroku shrugged.
“I decided to go with the flow.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes, “C'mon, you got to admit it's not that bad.”
“Yeah, it would be a great song… like the theme song for a rapist!” Bankotsu let out a loud chuckle and then cleared his throat.
“Not funny man,” Bankotsu said when Miroku shot him a killer look. “Maybe we can work on the lyrics… but first let's change that music, no offense but it's not your best work Miro.”
“Yeah, I need a smoke.” Miroku said as he walked out of the room, Sango followed him worried and I was left alone… just great.
Inuyasha was in the corner practicing with his guitar as Bankotsu slammed his hands against his legs creating a rhythm… I decided it was time to go and just when I was about to get up from my chair, I heard someone speaking.
“So… Kagome was it?” Bankotsu said… is he really speaking to me? “Are you still in school?”
“Uh… yeah, this is my senior year.” He nodded and smiled.
“So that means you're in the same year as this retard over here,” He said as he threw a drum stick towards Inuyasha, he caught it before it hit him and Bankotsu smiled.
“I was learning how to make good music, unlike you jerk.” He threw it back and Bankotsu grabbed it before it struck on my face.
“Yeah, well I didn't need it because I was already making great music…” Nice comeback Ban… oh god, did I just complimented him? And did I just call him in my mind by his nickname? I'm going crazy.
“Why Ban?” he looked at me and smiled.
“Wam, Ban, thank you man… it's a reference to David Bowie's song, sort of what these two would actually say if they acknowledged I saved their so called band.” Inuyasha snorted and Bankotsu laughed. “So, wanna go out?”
“What?” No seriously, did he really just say that?
“Do you want to go out with me? It's a thing normal teenagers do, it usually involves a girl and a boy but maybe you are part of that percentage that likes to get involved with people of their same sex… I hope not,” that cracked me a smile. “Is that a yes?”
“I actually…”
“She's seeing someone, don't waste your time.” Inuyasha answered before me and I scoffed.
“He's sort of right, I have to go… it was nice meeting you,” I said to Bankotsu and ran downstairs to find Sango and Miroku leaning against the main door. “Sango, we leave… now.”
“What's wrong?” She asked scared at the look on my face and the cracks my voice was having.
“Nothing, I want to go home!” I half yelled and Sango nodded surprised, she kissed Miroku softly on the cheek and unlocked her car doors.
I got in immediately and started crying, I didn't even feel like it until I was outside the house. Sango pulled away quickly and since my house wasn't that far away we were there in five minutes and as time went by tears were being more constant and thicker. I started sobbing and Sango gently laid an arm around my shoulders.
“What's wrong?” she asked again and I shook my head.
“I don't know… I was just so sad and then I was very mad and then I was sad again and I just can't stop crying.” I said as my voice raised a few octaves and tears rolled down my cheeks.
“Oh, you just need calm down… I've read about this, what do you call them? When you're happy an instant and then angry and then you go sad and then you go…” Oh, won't you just shut up!
“Mood swings, you… dummy!” I nearly yelled and Sango laughed.
“That's right! I better watch my back,” She giggled and cleaned my tears; I smiled at her although my face was still with a sad pout. “Yeah, I think now I'll have to deal with that…”
“I'm very sorry; will you remember that every time I have an emotional breakdown?” Sango nodded as she sighed.
“Well, I don't seem to have a choice now, do I?” I hugged Sango and she returned the gesture. “I'm your best friend and no mood swing will change that… just try to hold yourself back, if you can.”
“I can't guarantee it but I'll pretend I can and say yes,” Sango giggled. “I think I should go inside, sorry about today.”
“Yeah, I think it might be better if we just forget about it…” I nodded and got out. “If you feel like craving for an ice cream, call me… alright?”
“Of course,” I blew her a kiss as I walked to my house.
I ran upstairs because I thought I was alone but I immediately heard Kikyo on the phone and walked, very slowly because whenever she's on the phone no one can make noise… NO ONE. Kikyo walked out of her room for a second and once she saw me she went back inside. I strolled silently towards my room as I heard something I actually cared about.
“Oh, it was a complete disaster… first, I spilled some coke on his shirt and as he tried to pull his shirt off he fell on my lap and his hair got stuck to my skirt button but he didn't notice so he pulled it harshly and the button went off flying and he ripped off part of his hair… to make matters worse, my sister comes in and sees us like that… as if we were about to have sex and I bet she told my mom… it was so embarrassing.” I started laughing and immediately ran to my room and grabbed the first book I found on my bookshelf, Kikyo came barging in.
“Sorry, it's just that this part in the book always makes me laugh.” I said and Kikyo arched her brow angrily as she walked towards me, she snatched my book and turned it upside down.
“Next time you eavesdrop and pretend you're not doing it, you better make sure you grab the book the right way!” I tried to hide my smile but she simply ignored me and walked towards the door.
“I didn't tell mom, if that helps at all.” Kikyo stopped on her tracks and sighed.
“Thanks.” She said without even looking at me and left.
