~“Sure, Inu-san, be careful, I've heard pregnant males have a harder time, especially with emotions, the hormonal influx makes them unpredictable and moody,”~

As he made his way to the front gates the next morning InuYasha wondered if he would be allow in when one of the guards called down “State your name and business.” And he looked up meeting bright green eyes that widened at the sight of him.
“InuYasha, I'm here to see my brother,” he called back hoping they'd let him in and almost laughed when the other three guards rushed around to open the gates as bright eyes called down “Sorry I didn't recognise you my lord.”
And then he was inside the gates the family home he'd never layed eyes on before. It was beautiful, all white stone and balconies, the gardens trimmed and neat, or so he thought until he saw one on the western side, it was mangled, in total disarray. “My lord, Master Cratus has asked that we bring you right to him upon your return,” bright eyes said and he looked at the taller man.
“Sure, what happened to that garden?” he asked as they made their way inside.
“My lord, Sesshoumaru, my lord,” the man said.
“Hold up, what's your name?” InuYasha asked realising he didn't know it.
“Koneko, my lord,” the man said and InuYasha nodded as they entered the palace, inside was just as amazing as the outside.
Rugs covered the floors, tapestries and paintings the walls and sculptures, vases and other priceless pieces lined the hall until they turned into what he guessed was the eastern wing and Koneko started pointing things out.
“The east wing is the medical and servant wing, Cratus has the largest chambers, the North wing has the guest rooms, hall and dinning area and kitchen. The western wing, which you'll be visiting next is the family wing, I believe your room has been placed next to Lord Sesshoumaru's,” the feline demon said.
“The guards wing is on the far wall, South of the main house,” he continued “there is an outdoor hot spring in the south eastern garden as well as the six or so indoor Hot Springs. Its requested that everyone stay out of the western garden, as you noticed it's in a state and Jie, its tender he's having a fit.”
Koneko stopped in front of a set of turquoise doors, so different from the other doors in the building that he'd seen InuYasha couldn't help his eyebrow raising.
This amused the cat who said “Cratus likes to be different, though a bit of friendly advise, Master Cratus is very protective of Sesshoumaru-sama,” before nocking on the blue door.
“Koneko, open it and go back to your post,” a deep male voice called, “Lord InuYasha, please come in,”
Once the door was opened and closed behind him InuYasha looked around, the room was filled with books and jars. On the far wall was a large examining table beside a bay window and in the centre of the room was a huge wooden desk with a large, broad golden man.
The man smiled and pointed to the seats in front of his desk, “Please have a seat my Lord, I'm Cratus, your family healer,” he said.
“InuYasha, but I'm guessing you know that,” the half-breed replied.
“Of cause I did help bring you into his world,” the demon said and InuYasha felt his eyes widen.
Cratus laughed at the boys expression, what Sesshoumaru excepted as fact this one would question, “Oh, I've been in your family a long time, I even helped birth your brother…or should I call him you're mate?” he asked his eyes no longer as friendly as they had been.
“God, you're going to sixth degree me?” InuYasha asked his eyes narrowing.
“No, I just want to know if your intention is to harm my lord more than you already have,” Cratus said coolly and InuYasha agreed with Koneko instantly.
Cratus was over protective.
“No, I just want to talk to my brother, find out what he wants,” InuYasha said and answered his unspoken query “I didn't ask Sesshoumaru to become my mate, I didn't give him any choices, I just took that.”
“Oh, do you want to be Sesshoumaru's mate?” Cratus asked suddenly feeling for the confused half breed though Cratus was sure the boy had been better off in his other wise black and white world of hate and survival.
“I do, I'm just not sure if Sesshoumaru wants to be mine, I mean I bit him, I mated him with out question, without asking him if it was okay, why didn't he do that to me?” InuYasha asked and watched as the healer stood and walked around the desk as he spoke.
“My lord, Sesshoumaru doesn't believe you when you say you don't hate him, he's come to expect that from his family,” he said and InuYasha frown.
Sighing warily Cratus said “Your father and his mother were very harsh with Sesshoumaru, expected him to get everything perfect the first time he tried something. They made Sesshoumaru…cold,” he said and met questioning golden eyes.
“They treated Sesshoumaru as if he were an emotionless drone, built for the soul purpose of maintaining the Western land. After his first fifty years he had no affection given to him and soon realised that neither of his parents loved him. He was a product of a long arranged mating that ended badly and Sesshoumaru suffered for it. He now questions affection, hides from it for fear of rejection, that is why you're his first,” the healer said and those golden orbs widened.
“Yes, my lord you are the very first lover Sesshoumaru has ever had, and I only tell you this so you understand the…fragileness of Sesshoumaru's heart,” Cratus said.
“Though strong, confident in all other areas in his life, love and family are Sesshoumaru's short comings and he feels that you, the one he loves enough to trust, cannot bare the sight of him,” the man said.
“Oh god,” InuYasha whispered tears burning his eyes, “After I mated Sesshoumaru I just left, I…I freaked and I ran, no wonder he thinks I hate him. I wouldn't be surprised if he feels I used him, marked him to get revenge for him not taking me in, for trying to kill me all of these years,” and the healer nodded.
“Very correct assumption, yesterday, upon his return he destroyed the western garden, as you saw, he broke down, InuYasha I must stress this, do not upset Sesshoumaru, it is bad not only for the pup but for Sesshoumaru as well,” Cratus said and the younger demon nodded.
Reading between the lines Cratus said “And don't worry about your pack accommodations were prepared a month ago, your adoptive son…Shippos' room is beside Rins'. And to ease your fears about being a half-breed, I too am one, there are a few others, though you're the only human half demon here.”
“What are you?” InuYasha asked as he followed the mans' lead.
Making his way to Sesshoumaru's chamber Cratus said “My father was is an unknown god, we think of either sleep or health and my mother was a dragon demon.”
“Powerful combo, how did you end up here?” InuYasha asked taking in the grander of his brothers' home.
“Your great-great-great grandfather and his mate, a breeding male, wanted a pup and were having a very hard time conceiving, they were almost convinced one of them baron, though neither really cared. They wanted a child but their relationship didn't depend on it,” Cratus said.
“By that time I was a little older than your brother and a well known healer so they came to me, a servant had been feeding them both a sterilising poison. As part of her bargain with the lord of the east; they wanted to remove the inu tree so they could have the land. Inu demon were rare, powerful but never had more than one or two pups and there were more males than females and even less baring males. Your brothers' gift is a precious one. Anyway I helped them and they offered me a home, a place in your great family and I excepted, I'd never had a real family, my own mother died when I was around 11 and I've never met my father,” the healer said.
“They offered you the one thing they knew you couldn't resist,” InuYasha murmured as they entered the western wing, the walls covered in tapestries and paintings of dogs, and demons, wars and celebrations, families and friends.
Pausing in front of one InuYasha could only stare at it, it looked like his brother though it was missing one set of markings on its cheeks.
Smiling Cratus said “Uncanny isn't it, that was the baring male I was speaking of, your great-great-great-grandmother so to speak.”
Nodding absently InuYasha wondered how Sesshoumaru would react to the sight of him when they came up to a vibrant red door with a white pattern of Sakura petals flowing across it.
Tapping on the door lightly Cratus entered without waiting, something InuYasha was sure would get anyone else's head handed to them and as he enter he saw Sesshoumaru huddled on his bed, a pillow pressed to his bare chest.
“What is the meaning of this Cratus?” the demonic lord demanded glaring at his healer who just smiled and said, “Are you feeling up to visitors?”
“That depends on who it is!” the demonic lord snapped “And before you lecture me on how getting wound up isn't good for the pup, I know!”
“Damn it, I've been crying Cratus! I through a child's tantrum!” the man snapped and InuYasha realised that his brother hadn't even noticed him or was ignoring him.
Before InuYasha could speak his brother stood, releasing the pillow he was hugging and InuYasha saw the proof of his brothers' pregnancy.
His once flat stomach was bulging slightly, his nipples larger pinker and he wondered briefly if they would be more sensitive then shoved that line of thought out of his mind.
“My lord-Cratus began only to have Sesshoumaru scream at him “I'm not a lord you idiot!”
Deciding now was better than later InuYasha snapped “Oi, Ru, calm down,” which brought a set of golden eyes to him as turquoise eyes danced with amusement.
Sesshoumaru scowled at him “I'm trying to!” though InuYasha saw the wobble of his brothers bottom lip and he knew that his brother was waiting for him to tell him to try harder.
“Oh, Ru,” he whispered walking up to the bed, “Ru, come here, please, Ru,” he said his eyes beseeching, his arms lifting up to his now trembling brother.
He could feel Cratus's eyes on them as Sesshoumaru shook, his long fingered hand skimming the tips of InuYasha's before he jerked away and fell back on a roll, stoping by the balcony.
“No, no more lies,” he sobbed glaring at his younger brother with watery eyes.
“Sesshoumaru,” InuYasha snapped hurt, “I'm not lying to you, I've never lied to you,” he said and Sesshoumaru shook his head.
“No! Everyone lies!” he all but shrieked his only hand flexing as he stood from the enticing crouch, his hakama's falling down further to reveal the strips of red on his slim hips.
“You don't want me! Father never wanted me! My mother hated me!” he cried the words pulled from his soul.
“You…you made me believe, for just a moment that I wasn't just a useful drone!” he shouted as an inarticulate sound was issued from his throat.
“You'll see,” he said as his tears flooded his pail cheeks as Cratus went to move around the large bed “You'll see, eventually everyone hates me.”
His next words were little more than a sigh as he said “I wonder…how long it will take…for our pup…to hate me.”
Then he was gone and Cratus was holding the younger mate back as Sesshoumaru moved so fast he didn't even have an afterimage.
