Chapter Thirteen
…I love You…
Just a quick thanks to our loyal reader/reviewer DarkAngelJudas13 for her constant reviews, thanks for reading. And just so you know DAJ13, they were Sesshoumaru's thoughts. The ones about InuYasha wanting to be with Kagome. Sorry for the wait and enjoy the next instalment of Love is a Battlefield.

~“I wonder…how long it will take…for our pup…to hate me.”
Then he was gone and Cratus was holding the younger mate back as Sesshoumaru moved so fast he didn't even have an afterimage.~
Perfect, simply perfect Naraku thought as he realised all he needed to get the dog lord to trust him was to make the man believe he loved and desired him. But how to do it, Sesshoumaru's emotional state would help, he would fall easily to what ever lies were feed to him while dismissing all truths as he'd done with his lovely brother.
Oh that sweet, sweet pain of love, and best of all Sesshoumaru craved it, he thought as he turned from the mirror and marched over to the balcony, then calling his miasma to him flew to his prey.

InuYasha sighed as he leaned against the balustrade of his brother's balcony; staring out into the forest where his pregnant brother had fled into two days ago. Cratus, kami damn him had told InuYasha to wait for Sesshoumaru to return on his own or wait a few days before hunting for the silver haired lord. Glaring at the trees as they swayed in the breeze that brought the scent of his pack to him InuYasha didn't even bother to turn as the door to his room, Sesshouamru's room opened and the voices of his friends hit his ears moments later.
Miroku froze staring at the scene before him in utter shock, the sight of his half dressed half breed friend, his normally matted silver hair silken and free of knots, dust and debris that was almost always in his silver tresses. The voices of Kagome and Sango fading as the wind lifted his hair showing his creamy skinned back rippled as muscles clenched and unclenched as he lifted a long clawed hand to his head, brushing errant strands away. A pair of black hakama's ridding low on his hips as he leaned nonchalantly against the balcony wall.
“My Lord InuYasha, your friends have arrived,” Cratus said and Miroku remembered his shock at meting Sesshoumaru's oddly affectionate and protective friend and healer.
The man was huge, with broad shoulders and a voice as deep as thunder, but he gave off a calming peaceful aura that made it hard to fear or hate the demigod.
“Keh,” InuYasha said his shoulders rising and falling in a shrug, “Yeah and my mate is still somewhere out there!” he snapped as he flung one hand out toward the forest.
“Damn it! Cratus what if he's hurt?” InuYasha shouted spinning to face them, his golden eyes dark with emotion.
“What if he was being sick and something ate him?” he inquired flinging his hands up into the air the muscles in his chest and arms rippling under his smooth skin.
“My lord, Lord Sesshoumaru is more than capable to protect himself,” Cratus said trying to reassure him.
“Yeah right!” the hanyou scoffed shouting “He was attacked by bore demons and he flinched away!” Panic filled his eyes as he nearly screamed “Cratus he reeked of fear!”
“My lord,” Cratus started, “you need to calm down,” making the boy glare at him even as Kagome rushed forward, hugging him.
“InuYasha I was so worried!” she cried and he patted her head giving her a fond, gentle smile.
“I'm fine Kagome,” he relplied and Cratus suddenly saw why Sesshoumaru was so…upset and sure his mate didn't care.
So sure his mate didn't want him.
Didn't love him.
Both he and the girl believed that the hanyou prince loved her and wanted to mate or `wed' her.
What a mess, he thought with a sigh as those burning gold eyes turned once again to the forest.
Searching for Sesshoumaru.

Gentle hands caressed him back, his shoulders and down his arms as a surprisingly larger body pressed into his back, arms carefully enfolding him as a smell he didn't all together like filled his nose.
Better something than nothing, he thought turning to bury his head into the larger, younger males throat, remembering his fear for the man who held him and dismissing the way his instincts shrieked at him to run.
Run far and fast.
The other more dominant side basking in the attention, the open affection. He'd been hugging himself before he had been pulled close, near desperate for a hug, just a simple embrace he'd fallen into the younger demons arms and now here he was.
Once again surrounded by the stench of miasma, once again pressed into the heavy muscles of the hybrid demons chest, his face once again pressed into the other mans throat.
“My love, feeling better now?” the man asked softly and the smaller one nodded his eyes drifting closed in contentment.
“Yes, this Sesshoumaru's stomach isn't trying to come out his mouth any more,” the daiyoukai murmured drowsily and the other chuckled, “Then this Naraku is going to take that Sesshoumaru to bed,” he teased gently and the dog demon nodded allowing himself to be lifted.
He like this, liked being held close and not having to be the strong one, it made everything so much easier.
Though it would have been even better if it had been his beloved InuYasha, but that he could not have.
He could not have, not even in his sweetest dreams for like everything else they turned bitter and cruel.
Like life.
Silence rained as the two lay on the futon, Sesshoumarus' head resting on Naraku's chest as the darker demon stroked the lords long silver mane. It was a peace full scene though one was thinking of another while the other was plotting the others demise and with carefully whispered words he planted the seed.
“Sesshoumaru,” the hybrid whispered.
“…?”
“I love you…”
