Chapter 2
“Why save me if you don't love me?”
Saku's heart stared to pound against her hard and fast, she saw the death glare in Bankotsu's piercing blue eyes, which meant that she was in big trouble with her life on the line. “I like the way you look but I don't like your attitude. Smarten up or I'll be forced to kill you.” He said to her while she stood there in confusion. Out of all she had just went through; why should she die like this; at the hands of some low life killer? She glared once more and than spat in Bankotsu's face. “Oh so you had to choose the hard way.” Bankotsu tackled Saku to the ground and took out a pocket knife. “You know, you could've chosen the easy way.” At that point Saku shut her eyes in fear; she wished that all this was just a bad dream. But it was real, she was going to die and there was nothing that she could do about it. Than a giant white dog appeared before Bankotsu, growling and hissing, Saku knew this creature, it was Sesshomaru! Of course she didn't love he and he probably didn't love her but why save her?
Sesshomaru changed back into human form and glared at Bankotsu warning him to get off Saku. Slowly Bankotsu got off her and backed away while Sesshomaru went up to Saku and helped her up. “Don't touch my friend again or you'll pay.” Sesshomaru's icy cold glare didn't go away when Bankotsu and his friends fled. Saku felt relieved when Sesshomaru helped her out. Although he considered Saku a friend, it didn't bother because she was glad that Sesshomaru understood the fact that she didn't want to be married to him. “Are you alright?” Sesshomaru asked holding Saku close in comfort.
“I'm really scared Sesshomaru-Sama; what if they come back and slit my throat?” Saku bursted out into tears, with no control she sobbed and whimpered like a small kitten would if its mother wasn't around to feed it. “It's alright Saku; you'll be fine my friend.” Saku's tears eased up a little and thought to her `Well I may not like Sesshomaru as a fiancé but I do know that he's a good friend to have.' She looked around and noticed that the Shichinentai weren't around anymore. “What happened to those men?” Saku asked, being rather curious. “I killed them and ate their brains out!” Sesshomaru replied sarcastically. Saku put on a shocked expression. “Nah, I'm just messing with you. They ran off like cowards, afraid to face my wrath.” Sesshomaru sighed and looked around. “Their scent is fading which means they are running far off.” Saku felt relieved that Sesshomaru came when he did because than she would've been killed.
“DAMN IT!” Bankotsu yelled out in full fury. He couldn't believe that he had just made a fool of himself right in front of his minions. “DAMN THAT SESSHOMARU!!!!!” Bankotsu's yelling got louder and louder; although his minions were older than him, they were all scared of his anger. Jakotsu stood up, went behind Bankotsu, rubbed his shoulders and than said “its okay Bankotsu, you'll get your revenge somehow. Now just go take a nap okay?” Jakotsu pleaded Bankotsu to calm down for the next two minutes and than he finally became fed up and said “Jakotsu, take the rest and go out somewhere; ok?” Bankotsu's voice became scary, and when it sounded like that, his minions knew very well that he was going to go on a killing spree.
After Jakotsu and the others left Bankotsu alone; he soon started to calm down. `Why am I getting mad like this?' he asked himself while fiddling with his fingers in amusement. It was awkward how he got over his anger just like that. He than knew that he shouldn't let his anger take him over. He than laid down on the ground and stared at some clouds. For some reason he couldn't get Saku off his mind; although he never knew her name, there was something about her that seemed interesting. Besides the fact that she was beautiful with her long brown hair, blue eyes and light skin; she seemed pretty kind as well if given the chance to be known about.
She was hard to just forget about. Bankotsu felt pressure all the sudden, it was pleasurable but really awkward at the same time. He wanted to be Saku's lover all the sudden; strange how he doesn't usually fall in love but somehow he wanted her. Bankotsu all the sudden started to day dream about being Saku's lover. He pushed Sesshomaru aside and passionately kisses her. He smiled at that thought but he knew that he doesn't have a big chance to catch her after what had just happened. He knew that she probably hated his guts now; but maybe he should just wait for her to come to him. That's it; he knew that women like to come up to men in love issues so maybe waiting for her might work.
Bankotsu knew that he was being a genius for coming up with this, he than felt hard for some reason. He didn't know why, but he just did. It was really awkward that he would have this kind of feeling at a time like this, especially while thinking of Saku. He didn't get like this very often so he couldn't handle the pressure he was feeling. It was only now that he noticed it and didn't like the feeling. Other times were hardly noticeable.
Than Jakotsu came back with the others and saw Bankotsu's state. “Umm Bankotsu, are you okay?” Jakotsu asked in a concerned tone. “Uh yeah I'm just fine….” Jakotsu sighed and than walked away, leaving Bankotsu alone. Knowing what state Bankotsu was in, Jakotsu didn't bother taking advantage of him, because he knew it would lead to his death. Suikotsu just stood there and stared at Bankotsu blankly.
“What do you want?” Bankotsu asked. “Umm nothing….” Suikotsu replied and than walked away.
Back with Saku and Sesshomaru meanwhile; the two looked at each other for a fair amount of time until Saku asked “why did you save me if you don't love me?” Sesshomaru looked at Saku in the eye and said “it is because you are my friend and friends look out for each other no matter what.” Saku's curiosity was satisfied at last. She never knew how easy it was to ask instead of standing in the corner confused.
