Chapter 3
“I can't say how sorry I am.”

Saku wondered why Sesshomaru wouldn't tell InuKimi that he didn't love her anymore so that they both could be free to choose whomever they wanted. This was something that she didn't bother asking Sesshomaru. It wasn't any of her business what so ever. “You may go now and I'll talk to my mother about this.” Sesshomaru told Saku as he let her walk away. He watched her walk away slowly and he started thinking of ways to explain to InuKimi that he didn't want Saku in a marriage way, he only thought of her as a friend; or did he?

The night coat appeared in the sky, Saku sat down alone in the middle of a prairie which seemed comforting. The stars shimmered at a glamorous level, bringing back memories of her childhood. Some memories were good, some sad and other just made her laugh now that she remembered them. Although she knew that Sesshomaru only thought of as a friend, she somehow wanted to go back to his home and see the place for one last time, but at the same time she knew that she might find someone else who might like her more than a friend, but at the same time would treat her like a friend. That was something she wanted since she was a child.

There was something that she wanted but for some reason she couldn't get it. It seemed as if something held her back from getting what she wanted; what was holding her back and what did she want? It seemed as if she wanted love from someone who would truly care about her. It wasn't that she wanted someone with only that, but probably also good looks if wanted badly enough. She sighed and continued to star watch until she fell asleep. The grass was so soft and comfy that Saku didn't wake up for hours and hours. She than woke up about an hour later, in the same place, only to see Bankotsu in front of her. He stared at her in some what regret but at the same time, he had the look of lust in his eyes. Saku started to feel uncomfortable with him around all the sudden, she may have spent three months living with demons but she didn't want Bankotsu anywhere near her after their last encounter.

“Look; I'm sorry about last time and I can't tell you how sorry I am for last time.” Bankotsu said in a rather sorry tone, but Saku didn't take it that he was actually sorry for threatening her last time. “I do not accept your apology, I'm leaving!” Saku sounded very harsh for a moment, Bankotsu didn't understand why she didn't accept his apology but he stood there and let her say it. She stormed off and he didn't follow her, instead he stood there and watched her walk away like nothing was going on. Bankotsu wanted to make a straight apology but unfortunately Saku didn't trust him; but than again who would trust some killer. He knew that Saku wouldn't. This however, made his love for Saku stronger; Bankotsu knew that Saku was trying to crush his heart, which he knew that if she were to try that than maybe she did like him but just won't admit it.

Saku ran as fast as her legs could carry her, she didn't want Bankotsu as her companion. She would rather have a leper as companion than have him. Heck she would rather another female than him. Saku thought up of a list of people she'd rather have than Bankotsu, but something inside told her that he was “Mr. Right”, that she deserves him.
She wanted to push that little voice inside her head telling that he is for her aside.

Bankotsu had followed her! Quietly he watched her lost in thought.

A growl all the sudden appeared from behind Saku; this sound startled her as she turned around to see a bear demon. Its white fangs seemed to beg for Saku's blood to come on to them, the eyes seemed to think of a massacre for her flesh and in general; this demon wanted to kill her. She started to back away slowly and frightened. She forgot that she had left her weapons back at InuKimi's palace without thinking about this kind of situation. It wasn't that she was stupid; it was that she should have been spending a good life time with family by now. Her eyes soon became full of tears, why did she run off from Bankotsu? Why didn't she just accept his apology? All these questions kept on ramming into Saku's head like a drill. What was she expected to do now? Die? Saku than fainted without hesitation, while the bear demon approached her unconscious body.

This startled Bankotsu a lot; he couldn't bear watching her being eaten by a bear demon because he didn't save her. Than he had an idea, if he saved Saku than she will for sure fall madly in love with him. This plan started to interest Bankotsu a lot as he charged straight at the bear's back with his halberd; it was a perfect shot. The bear demon turned around and saw Bankotsu holding the halberd. Anger soon fills its heart and it slashed at Bankotsu's chest; leaving three huge scars. The scars seemed like a mere mosquito bite to him since he has been through worse physical pain than this. He grabbed his halberd and yanked it out of the bear's back and attacked again. This time he aimed straight at the heart, somehow he managed to pull the heart out of the bear's chest using his halberd and crushed it causing blood to squirt all over. The demon cried out in pain and than died.

As proud as Bankotsu was for himself, he hadn't realized that Saku got up and jumped over a waterfall cliff that he hadn't noticed but she had noticed for a long time. Was it that she had planned to fall off so she wouldn't have to face Bankotsu or was it something else? He soon came to his senses and saw that Saku wasn't where she was supposed to be. “Oh shit!” he yelled out and he too jumped off the cliff and went down the waterfall. He got to the bottom of the fall in no time flat, just in time to at least know that Saku is still alive. He got to her and brought her up on land, than slowly he removed the top of her kimono and gave her mouth to mouth. She laid there in no fear or anger, she didn't even wake up. Bankotsu kept trying to wake her up with mouth to mouth but than when she finally got up, she saw the gashes on Bankotsu's chest, saw how wet he was and realized that he was only trying to save her from drowning in the river.

For some reason Saku felt guilt; he was sorry after all he has done.
