Chapter 5

“Kenumaru; the new reincarnation of Naraku”

 

 

It had been about six weeks and Saku had not yet returned to InuKimi's palace; this wasn't a big surprise to anyone but at the same time it was awkward that she hadn't come back for some reason.

 

Was Saku serious when she actually did want to leave? This question ran in InuKimi's head for a while but than she managed to get over it and continue on with life. It of course didn't bother her that Saku left at all since she was after all free to make her own choices in life but why didn't she want Sesshomaru? This was another stumping question which had kept InuKimi curious. “Maybe I might be mistaken Sesshomaru, but didn't you say that mortal didn't want you?” Sesshomaru nodded. “Do you know why?” Sesshomaru glanced at InuKimi. “No mother; I do not know why but all I hope is that she might be able to find her own way in life.” Sesshomaru replied boldly and at the same time a little frightened about what he is saying. “Well I'll let this slip by for now but I'll get angry if something like this ever happens again Sesshomaru. Go now before I loose my temper.” InuKimi said in a rather calm voice as Sesshomaru started to leave the palace.

 

As soon as Sesshomaru left the palace; Rin came running up to him yelling “SESSHOMARU-SAMA! SESSHOUMARU-SAMA! JAKEN IS FIGHTING AGAINST SOME GUY WHO'S TRYING TO KILL ME AND HIM!” Sesshomaru listened to Rin and went off in search of Jaken. Where would Jaken be at a time like this? It was than Jaken's voice appeared yelling “GO AWAY! LEAVE US ALONE!” nothing seemed right; what was Jaken yelling about? Sesshomaru went as fast as possible and than saw Jaken fighting someone from the Shichinentai, Mukotsu the poison master. “That's him!” Rin whimpered to Sesshomaru and pointed to Mukotsu. “So I see we meet again.” Sesshomaru said and than walked up to the midget and getting ready to kill him. “It's you; that dog demon who took my shard.” Mukotsu blurted out while mixing up some kinds of poison together and getting ready to kill Sesshomaru. “Do you still rely on gases to kill me?” Sesshomaru asked and took out his tokijin. The sword swung directly at Mukotsu which was going to slice and dice the poison man in half.

 

“Prepare to see what hell looks like!” Mukotsu yelled out and poured the poison mixture onto Sesshomaru which seemed to have no effect on him. “You're pathetic!” Tokijin sliced Mukotsu into four pieces which did in fact kill the guy. “Wow lord Sesshomaru; you're tough.” Rin blurted out smiling at her happiest state. “Rin; you know that I'll protect you no matter what.” Rin smiled even harder this time; her master was sure protective of her.

 

The moon became red all the sudden which meant that there was something wrong, something was going to happen but what is going to happen? What caused the moon to be so red?

 

This didn't concern Saku too much for many reasons which are unexplained. She let this slip by in her life because indeed it would be in the way of her being able to think properly about other things than the red moon, it might just be a natural cause that might make the moon red. What was on her mind was that threat sent to the village headman. She knew who sent that letter and she didn't appreciate the fact that person who sent it would do that. She suspected that Bankotsu would send something like that to someone high in power over a city.

 

Saku didn't ask herself why but she did wonder what was going on? Why did he seem nice to her at first but than turn back into a killer when she isn't looking? Maybe he just wanted to catch her attention in a bad way so that he could win her affection or he could actually be a nice person if given the chance. Saku didn't know which to believe but she knew that one of them was true and the other was just a thought. There seemed to be something wrong with the picture; why would Bankotsu only be pleasant around Saku but not around other people? This question may never be answered unless she asked him in person but at the moment she was afraid to go and ask why.

 

Than there was all the sudden screaming coming from outside; the screams sounded as if there were something extreme going on. Saku became curious and looked outside to see what was going on. There was a group of people outside doing all the damage, for a moment Saku thought that they were the same group of men that Bankotsu lead but as they started to approach towards her house, she realized that it wasn't the same group. There were about five people at least eight feet high and skinny. They all were men but they still seemed threatening. Saku than realized that these men were foreign bandits looking for food, money and women to take with them on their voyage to the other side of the world, if possible. Everyone started to run away from the village, giving the five men a chance to steal their belongings from their homes.

 

Fear started to pound into Saku's head causing her to be unable to function properly which lead her to do the stupidest thing that anyone could ever do in this kind of situation; hide in her home hoping that the men will go away or at least someone coming to save her from these men. Maybe her wish at the moment will come true and she would have her own hero, didn't matter if her hero was male or female either would be perfect for her at the moment. It wasn't that this was impossible but it was something to doubt over especially since miracles are said to only happen once in a life time and because Sesshomaru saved Saku from Bankotsu that one time, it was used up. This was one of those things that can be used up against one's will at certain times which did in fact irritate her a lot. Just before Saku had passed out, something else had just happened. She dared to look outside to see what had just happened and she saw another man at the scene chasing off the bandits by pointing his sword and riding his white horse towards the bandits bringing fear into them.

 

`What a relief, I just thought that I was going to be killed and having my dead body raped by bandits, I'm glad that didn't happen.' Saku thought as she sighed extremely loudly and dared to look outside. The man who chased off the bandits wasn't Bankotsu for sure since this man and Bankotsu looked way too different from each other to even look alike. This man had beautiful emerald colored eyes, black and red clothing on, Chinese character on his forehead which said “Dragon” and his black hair hung over his shoulders. Although he seemed very attractive and obviously strong enough to be a threat to those bandits, there was something about him that seemed rather odd. What was so odd about this young gentleman was the question. Saku finally stepped outside and looked around, no one but the man was around. She all the sudden had an awkward feeling about this man coming at the moment least expected and chasing off the bandits. “Why hello there, I see you're a remainder.” The man said in such a gentle voice, so gentle that Saku calmed down. “Sorry to be rude, my name is Kenumaru and you are?” this was Saku's chance to speak. “My name is Saku Tatsuya. And I thought that if I hid in my house than I'd never be found by those bandits which I'm surprised that I never was found.” Saku replied in a rather unemotional tone.

 

 

The man's horse neighed and reared at something rather different, what was going on? The horse started to neigh and buck at its own will, like as if the rider wasn't there. Saku knew that something was very wrong with the picture and she looked around; there was a miasma approaching with a voice that said “Oh Kenumaru, I have given you the chance to go out and destroy the Shichinentai; not to flirt with women. I forgive you this time but I'll let you know this; if you do not come back with at least Kyokotsu's head than your head is mine.” Kenumaru's horse than settled down and bowed to the miasma by putting its head and neck towards the ground and bending its front legs to make it seem like it really was bowing down. “Naraku I swear I won't let you down. I swear to my boulder cutting blade that I will not let you down.” Kenumaru announced to the miasma sounding very bold and serious at the same time. Who was Kenumaru and what did he really want? Would he ask Saku if she had seen the Shichinentai anywhere or would he just kill her on the spot and go search of the Shichinentai himself?

 

This was probably the best time to run off and scream out for help. Saku did sneak away but surprisingly Kenumaru didn't come after her at all. She didn't want Bankotsu to die at the hands of some person working for someone like Naraku who is hunting him and his group down. The thought of seeing Bankotsu lifeless on the ground, covered in blood and Kenumaru holding up his blade and laughing made Saku burst into tears. Although she didn't know Bankotsu too well; she wanted to be his and only his, nobody else. That was when she did realize that she wanted him to take her as his own so that even if anyone tries to take her; the fact will remain that she already was taken. The thought indeed made Saku very uncomfortable and wanting to actually sleep with somebody although she wouldn't let many people do that to her.
