Chapter Three:
Sesshomaru himself wasn’t having it much easier as he tossed in his bed, images of InuYasha haunting his every thought as his eyes opened and he panted. His dream, this dream, he worried if the old hag his father had taken him to see had been telling the truth. He didn’t want to think so but there really wasn’t any other explanation. Sesshomaru sighed as he moved from his bed, silently and gracefully walking to his wardrobe to dress in a bathrobe. Having both arms again helped, but he still wasn’t sure why InuYasha had allowed him to go back to the other world to get it.
Shaking the thought from his head, he moved from his room and started down the hall. His bare feet padded silently across the stone floors as he traveled down the western wing’s hallway to the family hot spring bathing room. The Lord of the Western Land’s mind continuously returned to his half-breed of a brother, causing himself to curse. He couldn’t keep thinking like this, the mutt couldn’t possibly be! Sesshomaru walked into the hot spring room and removed the robe, lying across the back of a chair. He slid into the water and relaxed against the side.
Sesshomaru followed his father up the mountain side in the northern territories. An old woman lived at the top and he knew that he was going there to find out about his mate. The one person he would take as his by his side for the rest of his life and her’s. He knew that it could be a he, but Sesshomaru was hoping it would be a woman, something about men just didn’t appeal to himself.
The old woman beckoned them in with a wave of her hand, “My lords, it is an honor that you have requested my help in the matter. I understand that Master Sesshomaru has been being extremely picky about who he takes as his mate is this not correct?” she asked, not really expecting an answer.
The most she got was a nod from InuTaisho and a grunt from Sesshomaru, who kept his icy glare on the hag. He didn’t know how he would find out who his mate was but he wasn’t sure he wanted to know. He didn’t need a mate to rule the western lands and he didn’t need anyone to take care of. An heir would be nice, but he could get that from any concubine in the castle. There were InuYouki in the castle, though they were all of a lesser class, and that just wouldn’t do for a mate, only someone to bear him and heir.
“Sit here Lord Sesshomaru,” she instructed, motioning to a place in front of her surrounded by candles. “I want you to close your eyes and let your mind empty, try to go into a trance.” she added.
“Fine old woman” Sesshomaru said coldly as he did as he was instructed, closing his eyes and clearing his mind once seated.
“I will snap my fingers in five minutes, which should be more than enough time for you.”
“And how shall I let you know when I am in my trance?”
“You will smile.”
Sesshomaru growled but he nodded as he felt his mind emptying into nothingness, his body feeling distant, the sounds of the fire crackling near the hag echoing quietly in his mind. He could feel himself separating from his body. He heard the old hag snap her fingers somewhere in his mind, but just as he was about to come back, the snap causing him to lose his grip on this trance, he felt his body respond with a smile. He growled mentally as images came to his mind.
A hanyou, a filthy half-breed child. No older than a day, surrounded by fire, his father jumping to save the halfbreed. Once the child and the ningen mother were safe, he watched his father die in battle with a ningen warrior. He growled over and over, but he couldn’t hear himself, only the scenes in front of him. The next thing that flashed in front of his mental eyes was InuYasha, grown. His body was built, slender and rippled with muscles as he moved. Sesshomaru growled, not sure why he was seeing this or who this person was. Shaking his head mentally he tried to clear it but he couldn’t.
He heard the woman say something, a force pulling him back into his body, to the physical reality. He watched the images of the hanyou disappear into nothingness, he could feel something pull at his heart but he ignored it, it was nothing, the hanyou meant nothing to him. Sesshomaru felt himself pulled back into reality.
Sesshomaru growled as he recalled the memory, he hated what that hag had told him about the visions she had sent him, he hated her even more for showing him his father’s death. What made it worse is that he was to love the one that caused his father’s death before his time, though he had been alive for awhile, it wasn’t InuTaisho’s time.
The old hag grinned toothily as she watched him come back from his trance. “The boy in your visions, THAT is to be your mate. You have two hundred years to figure out what to do about it. But fate cannot be changed, and THAT is your fate.” she cackled as she leaned back away from his face.
Sesshomaru let his lip curl up in a silent snarl, “NEVER!” he roared as he stood from his spot on the stone, kicked the candles out of his way, and moved out of the old hag’s residence. “I WILL NEVER L-.. MATE A HALFBREED!” he roared to no one in particular. He had done it, lost his temper, something he hadn’t done since he was a pup. The old hag had pushed his buttons and caused him to lose control.
He could hear his father following him, but he ignored it, he wouldn’t speak to his father as to what was to come. The only thing he hadn’t thought to ask, was WHY his father had died for the halfbreed, he should have, it would have helped him understand, but undoubtedly cause him to hate the halfbreed more before he was ever thought of existing.
Sesshomaru growled as he moved out of the water of the spring. He quickly threw on his robe and started up the hallway to the bedroom. He would dress and find his brother, see if his brother knew yet, knew that he was destined to be his mate. Sesshomaru could only pray that he didn’t, but when InuYasha went into heat, he would know, he would know what was going on, because his Youkai would call out for it’s mate, and Sesshomaru knew he wouldn’t be able to resist it anymore and he would go. He knew he would, but he would fight it.

Sessho maru: Hm, Filthy halfbreed.
InuYasha: HEY! I am NOT filthy!
Sesshomaru: SILENCE! Your blood is filthy!
InuYasha: How would you know! You can't SEE my blood!
Sesshomaru: InuYasha, you are so stupid sometimes.
InuYasha: I AM NOT! And how come I wasn't in this chapter?!
Inhibited: ehhhhhh *sweatdrop* heh
InuYasha and Sesshomaru: *glares*
