Chapter Four: A Talk That Changes Everything

InuYasha woke from his slumber, not sure when he had fallen asleep, but he shook it off and looked down at his companions who were already moving around packing up the camp. He looked up at the sky, bright blue, clear, sunny, warm, it was just what he wanted to get his mind off of Sesshomaru. ‘Great, there I go thinking about the bastard again. DAMNIT!’ InuYasha jumped from his tree and landed silently by Kagome.

“You guys could have woken me up!” he said, his voice annoyed.

“InuYasha, calm down. You looked like you could use the sleep!” Kagome retorted.

“feh!” he huffed.

“InuYasha,” shippo piped up. “Why so grouchy?”

“Nothing. Forget about it!”

“Aww come on InuYasha! Lighten up!”

InuYasha frowned and looked around, “Are you guys ready, I wanna go. Them shards won’t find themselves.” He said.

The other looked at him oddly and nodded, “yes let’s go” Miroku said looked queerly at InuYasha before shaking his head and walking.

InuYasha followed them, his mind a million miles away from his companions. For some reason his thoughts were vivid enough that he could smell his brother, the images in his mind of his brother pounding deep into him, stroking him, licking, smelling, teasing him with nips and claws. His mind carried him into hot, sexy, and heavy thoughts causing his member to become painfully hard. He was brought out of his pleasurable thoughts as he caught a stronger whiff of his brother, realizing that it wasn’t a part of his thoughts.

Apparently Shippo felt it to because he had stopped as well as Kirara. He turned towards where the scent was coming from and growled deep in his throat as he pulled out Tessuaiga. He waited, his brother didn’t move. InuYasha knew that his brother had seen him pull out his sword, and normally this was when his brother would come out with Tokijin raised and ready for the fight. He didn’t understand how this was different.

“InuYasha,” his brother’s voice as commanding as ever, “Put down your sword. I have not come for a fight.” He stated. “I wish to have a word with you privately.”

“What you have to say to InuYasha can be said in front of his friends.” Kagome said rudely.

InuYasha pushed her behind him, “I’ll go with him Kagome, I have a few questions for the bastard myself.” He said grumpily as he sheathed Tessuaiga and started for his brother.

Kagome looked at him as though she had been struck; “INUYASHA!” she yelled, but never followed it with ‘sit’ like normal.

InuYasha never thought he would be so grateful that she hadn’t. He moved towards his brother, unknown to him, his brother’s eyes traveled over his form, the grace that he unknowingly possessed as he walked. Sesshomaru couldn’t help but stare, heat started in three nights and it was already starting to affect him. For two hundred years he had fought the urges to take InuYasha and now, it was going to be worse, especially if it was affecting him this bad now.

Sesshomaru walked ahead of his brother, leading him through the forest to a cliff that overlooked a gorgeous valley with a waterfall that fell over a hundred feet. He stopped and stared out of over the valley. He heard InuYasha come up and stand a few feet to his left. Neither said a word and he let his nose inhale deeply, the scent of his brother. The one scent he would always know, spicy, with a hint of pine and earth. He looked out of the corner of his eye at his brother and sighed silently.

“You wanted to talk with me Sesshomaru?” InuYasha asked.

“Yes. I wonder if you have been, been having unusual dreams lately.” He stated more than asked.

“Yeah, but what’s it to you?”

‘the world’ he shook his head and spoke, “It’s because you are going in heat.” He said dryly.

“Heat? How do you know when I am and when I’m not?”

“InuYasha, you really can be thick at times. I can smell it and the dreams show you your mate. The one your youkai will call out for.” He said as he fidgeted, which wasn’t like him.

“You, you’ve been dreaming of me haven’t you?” he asked. “How… long have you known?”

“Two hundred years little brother.”

“So you’ve known for two hundred years that you were to mate me and you NEVER told me? NEVER showed me kindness, cared, nothing EVER?!” he yelled accusingly at his brother.

Sesshomaru sighed, “Do you honestly think I WANT to be mated to a half breed?!” ‘because I do’ he added mentally. Apparently his Youkai knew he was near his brother and was adding little thoughts he didn’t want.

“Feh. I should have known you wouldn’t.” he said, a bit dejectedly, more than he intended to let known.

“InuYasha,” Sesshomaru said, but he didn’t know what to say next.

“Forget it, just leave. You could never give me what it is I want. Even if you gave me the world, it wouldn’t be enough, because what I want, you don’t have.”

“InuYasha, tell me, what is it that I couldn’t give you?” he asked curiously.

“Love.” Was all InuYasha said before turning around and heading back to his pack, his eyes glancing only for a second at his brother before casting down towards the ground.

Sesshomaru looked into those golden orbs and he knew then and there that his brother was right. Even if they should mate, he could never bring himself to love his brother. ‘then why do I feel as though my heart has just been ripped out?’ ‘because you do feel for him.’ ‘Don’t be ridiculous, I could never feel anything for him.’ ‘then why do you?’ Sesshomaru didn’t have an answer for that. Shaking his head, he told his Youkai to shut up as he then turned and went to go back to his lands, but something stopped him, he had to talk to his brother once more.

InuYasha: YAY! I got to make you look like an ass!
Sesshomaru: Screw you. Stop making me feel things!
InuYasha: Where's the fun in that? This is to much fun!
