Prologue:
Kagome woke up to the dying fire in the middle of the night. Yawning and rubbing her eyes she looked around and noticed Inu-Yasha was gone. Her stomach turned when she saw the soul collectors overhead. ‘Inu-Yasha’ carefully, so she wouldn’t disturb Shippo she got up from the sleeping bag and headed towards where the collectors were going. Soon she heard voices carried through the air.
“Please Kikyou, don’t go!”
“But I must, you have my reincarnation how. Our souls are bound but perhaps you were meant to be with me in the next life, not the one I’m in now.”
Kagome could see them at this point and remained hidden as Inu-Yasha grabbed Kikyou’s arm, turning her around. “I made the mistake of betraying you because of Naraku once, I’m not going to betray you on my own behalf this time” he brought Kikyou into a hug and softly said into her ear “I love you.”
Kagome ran away before they kissed, not caring about the noise she made as her eyesight became blurry with tears. She collapsed on her bedroll sobbing and by some miracle she didn’t awake her friends. ‘Oh Inu-Yasha…I’m such a fool!’ her hands balled up in fists ‘my heart can’t stand this anymore. It’s clear who he has chosen; I must try to move on.’
Inu-Yasha came back to the camp soon after and flattened his ears when he caught the scent of Kagome’s tears ‘nosy wench.’ Somehow that didn’t make him feel better. He looked at Kagome and the direction from where he came ‘I love them both, but Kikyou…I owe it to her.’ He leapt and took his customary place in his tree and drifted off to sleep.

I added the prologue because LICD pointed out that I didn’t explain why Kagome fell so easily ^^’ I’m going to go through and edit the first chapter as well. I knew what happened in my mind and somewhere along the way I forgot to put it to paper! Sorry about that, and if you’re a new reader then no worries! Problem solved =D Until next time! <3
