Chapter 1:
"What’s with Kagome?" Shippo asked quietly.
"Probably had another fight with Inu-Yasha" Sango replied with a shake of her head.
"Stupid Inu-Yasha" he crossed his arms "she should sit him"
Kagome just sat in front of them on Kirara like she hadn't heard them. She refused to speak with Inu-Yasha much less be carried by him. Meanwhile the hanyou kept so far ahead of the group that they lost sight of him from time to time.
"This time it may be more serious than before" the monk surmised. "I've never seen Kagome so distant."
Kagome didn't care about what the others were saying, she just kept replaying his words in her mind 'I love you' she fought back tears as she nursed her broken heart. Then a thought made her smile a bit 'at least I know that Hojou would never do anything like that.' the smile turned to an annoyed look as she rolled her eyes 'though he's more like a lost puppy than boyfriend material, I mean come on. How many times have I avoided him or turned him down? I've never really encouraged him and he keeps after me...kind of stalker creepy now that I think about it.'
"Will you guys hurry up? We'll never get the shards before Naraku at this rate!" the irate hanyou's voice carried back to them.
"What’s the rush Inu-Yasha? You didn't say anything yesterday about our pace." Miroku replied "besides, you haven’t caught scent of Naraku and Kagome hasn't felt the presence of a jewel shard. For all we know we're headed in the wrong way entirely!"
Inu-Yasha landed on the top of a tree to wait for the others to catch up "look, the last time we fought Naraku he escaped heading this way, it’s the only lead we've got!" he glared at the monk and then flinched because he caught Kagome's glare in return. 'She's really mad this time...' he swallowed and said "feh" before taking off again.
Kagome watched his retreating back in thought 'I'm a sucker for eyes, maybe that’s why I keep falling for him, I used to get lost in his golden eyes...so warm, unlike his brother's ice cold eyes. It’s interesting how the same shade of eyes have different effects just by the person who bears them.' A flash of red through her mind made her shiver 'though when he's youkai...there's nothing warm in those eyes, just the desire to kill, never mind that.' Kagome looked to the left sharply "I sense the presence of sacred jewel shards, two I think." she said pointing in that direction. Immediately they landed and headed that way.
Inu-Yasha stopped with a growl and took out his Tetsusaiga "mangy wolf, show yourself!"
He was nearly knocked over when a whirlwind whipped by him and stopped at Kagome. "Kagome my love, your visit is unexpected but appreciated all the same. Are you ready to abandon this mutt and be with a real demon?" he said her hand in his.
Inu-Yasha swung his sword, almost cutting off Kouga's arms "she's not going anywhere with you!"
"Who are you to say that?" both of the men looked at Kagome "I think you lost your right to claim me Inu-Yasha" she said glaring at the hanyou. "Kouga it’s nice seeing you, perhaps someday I will join you and your tribe"
"You can't be serious!" exclaimed Inu-Yasha "why would you want a smelly wolf like him anyways? He can't even fight, he just runs away with those damn jewel shards" he said with contempt. "Speaking of which, we need those shards, are you going to hand them over or should I cut them out of your legs myself?"
"Oh I can fight alright, I just choose not to in front of Kagome because I did not want to upset her. Now that it seems like she doesn't care for your welfare I can change that!" He pushed off the ground with his last word and caught Inu-Yasha off guard landing a punch on the hanyou's jaw.
"Damn you, Wind Sca-"
"SIT"
*Fwump*
"SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT!"
Inu-Yasha climbed out of his crater with a scowl "What the hell was that for wench?!"
"Sit! I still don't want you two fighting, we need both of you to defeat Naraku"
Inu-Yasha wiped some of the dirt off his face with a sleeve "so that’s how it is, you don't really care about me but just about killing Naraku." He turned his back on them.
"That’s not what I meant..." the anger had left Kagome's voice. In truth she wasn't sure what she wanted at that point. Half of her wanted to watch Kouga beat the shit out of Inu-Yasha and the other half wanted to beg him to leave Kikyou and be with her. She turned to Kouga "I'm sorry about this, I'll see you sometime later, it’s not a good time for me right now" she gave him a kiss on the cheek before going back to Kirara.
"Don't worry Kagome, next time I'll take you away from this dumb mutt and make you my bride" he said pointing his thumb at himself.
"We'll see" Kagome replied with a smile. Then the wolf-youkai took off leaving a cloud of dust behind him.
"Feh, you'd just get fleas living with him."
Kagome ignored him "let’s go"
"Kirara!" Sango commanded and the small cat changed to her larger form. The three humans climbed on her back while Shippo jumped on Inu-Yasha's shoulder. "Which way should we go?"
"Feh, hell if I know"
"Very helpful Inu-Yasha" Miroku said with a sigh "there's a village to the west, we can head there and stop for the night with them."

Hoorah! Well, even though this is labeled "chapter 1" its actually the third chapter I've written ^^' I'm kind of doing things out of order but I'm shifting them back into place when I edit the story so for people that have read before I'm sorry for the confusion! Reviews make me happy ^^ no requirement for next chapter though, should have one up in a week at the most. My goal is another one in a few days but I'll have to see about that. Until next time! <3
