Kagome was a chubby girl. She always has been a little overweight. She didn't mind being a little plump, until she was in middle school. That was when she started being fun of. Even her friends took in the joy ride. They continued it to high school.

 

It became even worse when being thin was the major thing in the media. Between the media and the people at school, she started to have low self-esteem. Even though her mother told her she was beautiful, it didn't help. Nothing can pull her up from the small pit she found herself in.

 

Kagome looked herself in the mirror with just a bra and underwear. She jabbed at her stomach with her fingers. She looked at her thighs; they were a little pudgy. Then there were her upper arms. When she flicked them, they swayed.

 

`Who can ever love this? Who can ever love me?' she questioned herself.

 

She laid a hand on her stomach. “I am five foot five and weigh one hundred and forty-eight pounds. I hate it!”

 

Kagome started to cry. She looked around her room. They were full of models and celebrities that have flat stomachs.

 

“I tried to exercise, but I can never keep up. I eat well, but not all the time,” she told herself.

 

She went to her closet and pulled out a pair of flare, blue jeans and a v-neck white t-shirt.

 

“Time to go to school and face the people,” she said as she picked up her book bag and headed out the door to meet the bus.

 

When it came, she boarded the bus and didn't miss the glances and snickers the people were giving her. This was the daily custom for everyone and she was quite used to it. But when the bus pulled up at the school, the snickering at school was something she can never get used to.

 

Only one group of people was the worst at the teasing. Their names were: Kikyo, Yura, and Kagura. They were the most beautiful people in school and everyone worshipped them.

 

She arrived at her locker. Her eyes widened at the graffiti that was all over it. Some of it said: “Pig,” “Fatty,” and, “Go back to the farm you animal.”

 

Kagome was biting the inside of her mouth and was choking back a sob. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around. It was her only friend that didn't turn her back on her. Sango.

 

Sango's eyes were full of rage and sympathy. “Come on Kagome, let's look for a janitor.”

 

Sango laid an arm across her shoulder and sent venom looks at everyone that was whispering around them.

 

“I can kick their ass for you if you want me to,” she told Kagome, hopefully cheering her up a little.

 

Kagome sniffed and managed a small smile. “Nah, its OK. I can deal with it. I'm used to it.”

 

Sango frowned a little. “Kagome, this isn't something you should get used to. You have to defend yourself at sometime.”

 

Her friend shrugged and they continued to the janitor's room. There was a person there and Sango was the one who told the person what the situation was. The janitor looked at Kagome with pity and went to get the materials needed to clean the locker.

 

While that was being done, they decided to go to the courtyard until the bell rang for first period. When they went outside, Kagome's heart sped up. To her right were the hottest boys in the school. Their names were: InuYasha, Miroku, Kouga, Sesshomaru, and Shippo.

 

When she looked at InuYasha, her heart went even faster. She thought that he was the most gorgeous man she had ever laid eyes on. Then her heart slowed down. She realized that she could never have him.

 

`Who would want a fat girl like me?' she thought.

 

They arrived at a bench and just sat there.

 

“So, there's one more day until school is out. Can't you believe that we'll be seniors?” asked Sango.

 

“Yeah,” Kagome sighed.

 

“Kagome, what's wrong?” asked Sango.

 

“Huh? Oh nothing, it's nothing,” said Kagome.

 

Sango shrugged and then the bell rang. Kagome squeezed her eyes. Here comes the beginning of a long day of torture.
