A/N Thank you for encouraging me to continue ^-^, I loved all those reviews, and guys, if I took long, it's because I've just finished with my finals and trust me that took all of my time. Well anyways, please let me know if you still want me to continue and from now on-now that I am on vacation-I will update depending on those reviews. Hint* hint*

"So what are we going to do now?" Kagome asked.

"Hmm, I don't know… why don't you wait here, I'll be back ok?" Sango answered.

Kagome nodded and she and Shippo watched as Sango left and wondered why she was in such a hurry.

Sango chased after the `priest', why hadn't he waited for his reward? Good thing she had taken Kilala, she was surprised to see him far from where he had first been found. It was amazing how a man of his age could walk a long distance in a mere five minutes.

"Hey you, wait!" She called.

The man stopped and his eyes widened when he saw her. "What is it?"

Sango got off from Kilala and as she did this she laughed, "Now, now, it's ok. We are alone." She stretched out her hand to him. "I'm Sango, I am sure Miroku told you about me."

The old man looked confused but shook her hand anyway, "Miroku? I don't believe I know a lad with such a name."

Sango shook her head, "Stop pretending, ok Paul?"

"I've no idea what you speak of, but if you must know, my name is Father Lawrence." He saw the young woman's strange look, "What is the matter? Didn't the groom tell you my name? He was after all the one who arranged everything-but had I known who he was… Had I known what he was…"

She was truly confused now, "All right, what are you talking about? I said you can cut the façade, no one suspected a thing. Now as for the money…" She gave him a small brown bag full of silver coins and gold as well, "You did a good job."

Lawrence was stunned, why was she offering money, when he had already been paid? "Well it is not necessary, your friend, Inu Yasha paid me already."

"What are you talking about?"

"Of course I'd never met him in person; it was always a third party who communicated us through letters. I thought it was unjust that the girl's parents did not let him wed her, but now I understand why." He warmed up to the subject.

Sango felt her heartbeat race; this conversation was starting to frighten her. It almost seemed as if she was talking to a real priest. She took a deep breath, "All right, father, um, could you tell me everything?"

The man looked thoughtful for a moment and after a long pause, he answered, "Very well. I guess I do have time. Well I do not know if Inu Yasha told you everything, but as I was saying, I never met the man in person. So I had no idea… no idea that he was a hanyou."

"What are you talking about? Inu Yasha never send you anything!" Oh, what's going on? Sango's palms turned sweaty and a knot of anxiety formed in the pit of her stomach.

The priest protested, "Of course he did! How else do you think I managed to wed them? But as I said before, had I known…"

"Cut it!" Sango yelled, "Just stop it okay? Don't play stupid with me, Paul, so why don't you just cut it?!"

Lawrence gasped of indignation, "Why, you need to behave yourself young lady! You must! You shall refer to me as Father Lawrence, a priest, after all deserves respect!" His face turned red of anger, "Bah! I shall not waste my time on `ye do leave me alone!"

Sango ran her fingers through her hair in despair, "Wait father-you are a father… yes you are…" She gulped and closed her eyes. When she opened them, the priest looked at her with compassion.

"Now, lass it's all right, I can see that you are truly sorry… You look troubled; can I help you in any way?"

Sango was finding it hard to take a decent breath, "Yes!" She grabbed his robe, "There is! Could you cancel this wedding, could you?!"

"Lass, it is too late for that, and why would you want to do that in the first place?"

She really wanted to cry of frustration, "Father, there has been a mistake… a mistake!"

"A mistake?"

For the next couple of minutes, Sango-- between attacks of despair-began to tell him about the wicked prank.

Kagome sighed, the day felt odd. Something was strange. She could not place the source for such a feeling, but there was something in the pit of her stomach that told her that there was something weird… She wondered why Inu Yasha had looked so angry, she remembered his gaze so well. It had been so full of fury-against her-and she had no idea why. Was it because of their arguing? However, that could not be. It could not; he would not look at her like that only for an argument. Either way, just remembering his hazel eyes on her made her shiver of ambiguity. He had looked so livid.

"Kagome!" it was Miroku's voice.

Kagome stood and faced the grinning monk. "Hey Miroku."

He could not stop grinning, "So how did everything go?"

"About time you show up!" Shippo interrupted. He frowned, "Where did you go to? You know that Sango does not like it when you flirt with other women."

Miroku glowed inwardly, "I know-wait a minute, how did you-"

"It's obvious with that stupid grin you are wearing, you know Miroku, you should really…"

Shippo stopped in mid sentence when he saw Sango approach. Something was wrong with her; she dragged her feet and her head was bowed.

Kagome also noticed this and went to her friend immediately, "Sango-chan, what's wrong?"

Sango was unable to look her in the eye, how could she have done this to her friend? She looked at Kagome and felt remorse when she saw how concerned she was.

She immediately turned away, only to look at Miroku. She almost gasped, but managed to control her surprise. She glanced once more at Kagome, "Nothing is wrong, uh… really…"

Soon she walked towards Miroku and without a word; she pulled his hand so that he would follow. Which surprised Miroku of course; the woman always got angry when he touched her.

Shippo and Kagome did nothing but stare at the sudden tension.

Once they were alone Sango took a long breath to try to control both her anger and despair. She still held his hand.

His thumb began to rub her palm; he lowered his head and whispered, "Sango, my lovely, what is the meaning of this showing of affection?"

Her brown eyes suddenly looked at his, and she immediately let go of his hand. "You are such an idiot Miroku!" She slapped him.

Miroku winced as her hand met his face yet again, "What the hell? I didn't touch your ass this time!"

Sango growled, "This is your entire fault!" She poked him in his chest, "It's your damn fault!" She pushed him.

Miroku's eyes widened in confusion as he tried to protect himself from her. "What is the meaning of this? Why are you angry?"

She ignored him and continued to shove, "…never should have listened to you. Oh, but I had thought it was a good idea, I had… damn Miroku damn! You are the stupidest-"

He grabbed her hands with an unyielding grip. "All right Sango, care to tell me what is wrong with you?"

She stopped struggling as she saw her attempt to free her hands was futile. "All right, you can let go now!" She shouted. She turned her back to him and crossed her arms. "You idiot…" She mumbled. Once she thought she was ready, she looked at him again. "It's real… the wedding."

Miroku's eyebrows furrowed in puzzlement, "The wedding was real? What are you talking about?"

Sango paced, "It turns out that your friend, Paul, did not show up… and… and" She sighed, "I don't know if this is a joke from destiny to Kagome and Inu Yasha or to you and me, but they got married… There was this priest… I thought it was Paul, and there was a ceremony," She looked at him. "Miroku… the priest was real."

As soon as everything dawned at him, he felt dizzy. He shook his head and laughed. "Sango, please don't jest with me… I know you are angry because I bedded that woman, but…" He saw Sango's disgusted expression, "I am only kidding…"

Sango's nostrils flared, "I don't want to hear it!"

"Sango-"

"Miroku! Haven't you heard a word I said?! Inu Yasha and Kagome are really married! It's our fault! Can't you get that through your thick skull?!"

Miroku's shoulders slumped, "I was hoping it was a joke… This cannot be! Sango what have we done?" He rubbed his temples.

"We?! Excuse me, but if I remember correctly, you are the one that planned this all out! You were the one with the idea, I just… I was…"

"My accomplice." He said and she could not argue to that. "Besides if you had not whined about their arguing-"

"Me?! It was you who-"A deep growl interrupted her sentence.

Both Miroku and Sango turned to the source of the sound… Inu Yasha.

"So you are the ones that got us in this mess?"

Sango bit her lower lip, and Miroku looked away.

Inu Yasha slowly walked towards them. His voice was calm, too calm. "Tsk, Tsk. Sango, I would have believed this from the lecher, but you? I thought you were better than that."

"Inu Yasha-"

He waved at her in dismissal, "And you?" Inu Yasha turned to Miroku, "You idiot, why the hell did you do it?"

"It was an accident."

"Ha ha. Accident. Right." He nodded, and then yelled, "Accident?! Do you actually believe I believe that shit? What Miroku? What the hell? Why did you do this?"

"Inu Yasha, wait, hear us out." Sango tried to appease him. "It really was an accident. You see, we had wanted to make a prank…"

"A prank to teach you and Kagome a lesson." Miroku added. "A prank that turned into an accident; a slip-up."

Inu Yasha smiled sardonically, "A slip-up? Oh I see, and tell me Miroku what was the reason for not kicking your ass again?" His hands turned into fists.

"Inu Yasha!" Sango pleaded, "It was all a misunderstanding! If you and Kagome would not argue so much and just admit your feelings to one another, none of this would have happened in the first place!"

"Keh! What the hell made you think I even liked Kagome?"

"Well I don't know… maybe the fact that you are always jealous every time some guy is interested in her?!"

"I'm not jealous! And so what if we argue? That girl is obstinate! Besides I only care for Kikyo…"

She frowned, "Well either way, like I said, it was a misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding that can be corrected, right Sango?" Miroku asked hopeful and Inu Yasha waited impatiently for her answer.

It was suddenly too hot, Sango noticed. Her throat was dry, and her hands were sweaty. "Well the thing is… the thing-uh, you see… I told the priest about the mistake, and like I suspected… there… there is nothing to do about it."

"What?!' Inu Yasha bellowed.

"But Sango…" Miroku said nervously, "Tell me that there is something that can be done."

She shook her head, "Inu Yasha, I am sorry, but there is nothing we can do."

"Why the hell not?" He barked.

She looked at her fingernails, "The father says that he cannot undo what is done because he believes that a sacred thing such as marriage should not be used as a joke. It is blessed, and…" She struggled to find the words, "Inu Yasha, I am so sorry."

"Oh that's it! We'll see what that priest says once he meets my fists!"

"No, he isn't. He left already and besides, he says that even if this had not been meant as a joke… well… the rules say that once the priest leaves the bride and the groom… it cannot be undone."

"Why not?"

She gulped and tried not to blush, especially since Miroku was standing next to her. "Well he says that it is because since the wedded couple… well the thing is…"

"The rules say that once they are alone, they can consummate. So therefore, the priest doesn't know if you and Kagome consummated the marriage or not, but it is assumed since the moment he leaves you two alone." Miroku supplied, "Isn't that right, Sango?"

She fervently nodded.

Inu Yasha saw this as ludicrous, humans had weird traditions, and he was stuck in one of them. "Is the man dense? I mean what kind of a person has sex in five minutes?"

Miroku shrugged, "Yeah that is pretty stupid. They should change that rule, at least until a day has passed. After all, the couple has just been married, they have a lot of hours to spend in the sheets-"

"Oh be quiet!" Sango half-yelled, she could not control the blush that had crept all the way to her toes. "Guys seriously, I do not need to hear this."

Inu Yasha agreed, "You are right, there is a more important task at hand, and that is how to undo this marriage." His eyebrows furrowed into a frown, "Why do I even care? Kagome is not my mate! So therefore, we are nothing!"

Sango felt a headache rising, "Inu Yasha, you can't just undo this even if you are a half demon."

"Keh!"

"Once you marry someone, there is no way to cancel the matrimony unless, there has been adultery from the woman, or if the woman has been with another man before her husband, and lied to him. I mean, there is nothing wrong if a man marries a widow, or a woman that…" This conversation was getting difficult, "has had experience, as long as she does not lie to him and he accepts her for who she is."

Inu Yasha shook his head, "All of these traditions disgust me. I understand the adultery part, but what is the big deal with virginity? A woman is the same no matter what, right?" He asked Miroku, since he had never slept with a woman that was untouched. He did not want to rob someone of her innocence; it was special, and he did not want to be special to that woman.

Miroku shrugged, "I don't know, but I really don't want to touch a virgin."

"You grab my butt every time you can!" Sango accused.

Miroku fell silent he had had no idea. She was so beautiful that he was sure that… he cleared his throat, "Sango then I apologize, I had no idea that you are a…. I thought that you had experience…"

Could Sango's blush get any darker? "It's ok." She looked at a bird that chirped nearby. She needed to do something about that awkward silence that had engulfed them. "Well," She continued, "The point of me telling you all of this Inu Yasha, is because I want you to understand that there is no way you can undo this marriage-at least not by human law. There is nothing wrong with Kagome; she has never cheated on you because first, you two are not even in a relationship. So this cannot be undone."

"The hell it can't! As I said, she is not my mate!"

Miroku shook his head, "Well, Inu Yasha, let's just say that Kagome is now your mate whether you like it or not."

Inu Yasha's golden gaze shifted to Miroku, "I would not be talking if I were you, monk. You are the one who got me into this mess, and you had better find a way out. If not then I am going to be forced to beat you to a pulp."

Miroku winced at his words, what was he supposed to do?

"Until then," He continued, "I don't want you to tell Kagome about this, do you hear me?"

"Why not?" Sango asked, "She deserves to hate me and Miroku… she has to know the truth."

Inu Yasha began to walk away, "Don't worry about it, I am sure Miroku will find a solution before Kagome even knows about it." Miroku chuckled nervously. "Now just forget about it. We have to go find Naraku's castle before I loose his stench and he decides to move it again." They did not move, "I said to hurry the hell up!'

They meekly followed in silence.

"Why are they taking so long?" Shippo asked as he drew with a stick on the dirt.

Kagome rested her head on her hand, "I don't know, but they better hurry before Naraku realizes that we are close to him."

She stood up when she felt a familiar wind come towards her. The wind that always came as Kouga ran to her. He came so fast, Shippo fell.

Before she knew it, Kouga was in front of her, smiling as he usually did when he saw her. "Kagome, I am glad to see you." He winked at her and she smiled nervously.

"Yeah, nice to see you too Kouga."

He sniffed, "You smell so nice, like always." He leaned close to her, "So where is that mutt, leaving my woman unprotected."

Kagome was feeling a headache forming, she was flattered that Kouga said he loved her, but was sickened when he called her his. She did not belong to anyone!

"Ok Kouga, first of all, like I always tell you. I am not your woman… second…" She frowned.

He smiled, "I love it when my woman gets angry…" Unexpectedly, he took her by the waist and she shrieked. His mouth hovered close to hers. "You know, there is something about you that makes me go crazy," He looked at her lips, "But a simple kiss will save me from madness."

Kagome pushed at his chest, and Shippo began to kick Kouga but he would not listen. "Kouga! Let go!"

He chuckled, "Kagome, there is no need to hide your love for me. Just let your emotions take over you!"

Shippo bit his foot, and Kouga resisted the urge to kick him. No one was going to stop him from claiming his woman's lips.

The next second he found himself hurled away from Kagome's warmth. He had not expected this that his back hit the floor with full force. "Shit!"

He looked up and strained his eyes against the sunlight as he saw Inu Yasha hover over him. His eyes were full of hatred and jealousy.

"Bastard!" He yelled. He got the tessaiga and pointed it too his chest. "What the fuck did you think you were about to do?"

Kouga had been so caught up in Kagome he had not even smelt the mutt come close. He laughed despite that fact that the sword was close at causing a serious injury. "What's the matter mutt? Why the hell do you worry so much about me and Kagome.?"

Inu Yasha took an intake of breath and hesitated to answer. "Keh!" He removed the sword from his rival's chest and put it back in its sheath. "It's obvious that she did not want your lips on her and you should have stopped."

Kouga, feeling better about the sword stood up and crossed his arms over his chest smugly. "I believe you are wrong, mutt. My woman obviously wanted-"

"She is not your woman!" Inu Yasha protested.

Sango and Miroku watched the display in amusement, but Shippo was ready to fight Kouga as well. "That's not true!" He said, "Kagome didn't want you to even touch her!"

Kagome shook her head, "All right guys enough." She looked at Inu Yasha, "Calm down, and leave Kouga alone, he didn't do anything."

Inu Yasha could not help but feel like he'd just been struck by Kikyou's arrow again, "What the hell? Here I am defending you, and you-you damn it Kagome!"

Kagome rolled her eyes, "I am not defending any one." She turned to Kouga, "As for you, if you ever try to do anything like that again, I will never talk to you, do you hear me?"

Kouga felt like Inu Yasha's tessaiga had just carved his heart, "What? Kagome, don't you want to be my woman anymore?"

Kagome sighed, it was impossible to try and make Kouga understand that she did not want to be his woman, girlfriend, or even go out on a date with him. She risked a glance to Inu Yasha and noticed his hands ball up to a fist. She immediately went to him, she knew his strength, and even if she was angry at Kouga for trying to kiss her without her consent; she did not want him hurt.

"Inu Yasha calm down."

He did not listen, "Tell me, bastard, what the hell makes you think that Kagome is your woman?"

Kouga shrugged, "Easy mutt. She will be perfect for my tribe. She is beautiful, smart, kind something that you have failed to see or even appreciate."

Kagome took a sharp breath, what Kouga had just said made her feel special. Inu Yasha had never said that kind of thing to her, not that he had time anyway, with his mind always on the dead miko.

Inu Yasha's patience was as thin as a thread, "Baka, that doesn't tell me why you think that she is your woman. Give her respect, will you? She is not your property."

Kouga laughed, "I respect her, that's the reason I have not taken her to my bed."

Sango and Miroku gasped, Kagome blushed of embarrassment, and Shippo was lost. Inu Yasha felt as if vile wanted to come up his throat; no one would take Kagome as long as he could help it. He did not question his own emotions for feeling possessive, but he blamed it that she was a good friend that needed his protection.

"You fucked up ass!" Inu Yasha yelled, "She will never be yours do you hear me?"

"Why not? You are nothing to her, and I will never let you take her from me."

Inu Yasha could not take this; no one was going to take Kagome. No one. He scratched his chin softly with a claw, and laughed cynically. "I am more than you think. You see…" His voice became low and menacing, "She is my wife."

Kouga's eyes bulged. "What are you saying? Isn't that the human term for mate?"

Kagome silently watched the exchange of them two, and the rest followed as well. Her heart raced so fast she was sure she would faint. Had Inu Yasha just said that she was his wife? How could he have said something like that when they both knew that he was lying? Why was he lying in the first place? Could it be that he was jealous after all? Did he feel at least a small spark of something for her? Either way, she did not feel like telling Kouga the truth. That Inu Yasha was lying; she only wished the Kikyou could hear this too.

"That's right." Inu Yasha answered and smiled smugly.

Kouga felt like something pierced his heart, "That's not true… why the fuck are you lying mutt?!"

"I'm not."

Kouga shook his head and began to laugh, "Heh. You are lying of course you are, Kagome would never marry you. In fact, demons, even hanyous don't marry women. We have rituals so she does not belong to you." He sniffed the air and smiled, "Besides, you have not claimed her. You have not marked her, she is unclaimed by any male. So therefore; she is not your mate."

Inu Yasha sighed, "We married in the human way, but only for her sake. That is their tradition, and I wanted to make her happy."

Kagome's shock was soon gone, and a terrible need to laugh was overwhelming. She did not know why he lied, but the outrageous things he said made her want to laugh.

Kouga suddenly felt insecure, "Why haven't you claimed her yet, if what you say is true?"

Inu Yasha crossed his arms, "Keh! If you have to know then it's because we just married today."

Is this true? Kouga asked himself. There was only one way to find out. He gulped when he looked at Kagome, it could not be true. He had never seen a display of affection between them. Sure, Kagome always worried about Inu Yasha during battle, but that was only because of their friendship… right? He looked at the stupid mutt again, and sighed. He was lying he had to. Kagome would never love him, never. She was his woman, only his.

"Kagome…" Kouga asked hesitantly. "Is what Inu Yasha said true?"

Until now, the situation had seemed funny, but when Kagome saw into Kouga's eyes, she saw his despair and doubt. His eyes mirrored hers every time she saw Kikyou and Inu Yasha together. Her heart went out to him, until now she had never actually thought that he really loved her. Now, it was different as she saw into his eyes. He was pleading for her to say the truth; to say no. She would tell him the truth, but she also had to make him understand that she did not love him.

It was time for Sango to step in, as much as she felt sorry for the wolf demon; he still needed to know the truth. "Kouga…" He did not answer; his gaze seemed to be glued to Kagome.

Sango tried once more, "Listen Kouga…" He finally looked at her. She looked at her hands and fidgeted, "It's true they are married."

He shook his head, "Liar! Kagome say something! Say that this isn't true! You would never marry that idiot!"

Kagome was about to say exactly that when Miroku stopped her with his next words, "They just got married; a priest just married them."

She frowned in confusion, why were they all trying to make Kouga believe she was taken? Shippo silently asked the same question to himself.

"Kagome," Kouga pleaded again, "Tell me this is not true…"

She gulped, and decided that she would not lie to him. She would not hurt him the way Inu Yasha always hurt her. "I-" The next thing she knew, she was in Inu Yasha's arms, he ran like he usually did, and they were heading further into the mountain.

The last thing she saw was Kouga's eyes turn watery, his mouth wide open, and he soon began to run too, but in the opposite direction.

Inu Yasha continued to run for about five minutes until he finally stopped. The location they were at was solitary and Kagome got goose bumps as if she felt that only death could lurk there. That's when she noticed that they were already on top of the mountain. He set her on the ground and walked to a place that seemed burned down, or gone.

"Damn!" He yelled. "Damn! He left already! His castle is gone already! He fooled me…" He squatted down and touched the tainted soil; he then smelled his finger and cursed, "He's been gone since at least for three days. He must have done a spell so that his stench would remain here, he fooled me!" He stood up and shook his head. He had been tricked twice in the same week!

Kagome sighed and slowly walked to him, her steps were timid as she approached him. She gently tapped his shoulder and he looked at her. "Inu Yasha, I am sorry. I really am, but don't worry, soon we will get his trail again and then we will defeat him…"

She smiled brightly at him, so optimistic. That simple smile made his heart skip a beat and he could not understand why. Why did he always feel so comfortable with her? Why did she bring such serenity to his soul? Until he'd met her, he had never been able to feel so accepted. Why did this girl trust him so much? What had he done to make her feel save with him? Because it didn't matter how much they argued, she was always there to cheer him in battle, to cure his injuries, to just be there for him.

He didn't know why, but he had to stop this feeling of happiness every time he was with her. He could not be happy. Not after all Kikyou had gone through because of him. Kikyou was after all his one true love… wasn't she?

"Why did you lie to him?" Her voice shattered his thoughts.

He looked at her in confusion; his thoughts had made him forget what she was talking about.

Kagome rolled her eyes, "Inu Yasha why did you make Kouga believe that we are married? You know that really hurt his feelings."

He could not help the rise of anger that swept through his veins, why did she care about that bastard's feelings? "I didn't lie." For the first time, he was glad for them to be married. Now the idiot would not take her from him. Now Kagome could not leave him for the bastard.

Kagome laughed, "Ok stop it. Stop joking and tell me why you lied."

He crossed his arms, and stared her straight in the eye. "I told you that I am not lying, and believe it or not Kagome. You are stuck with me. We are married."

She shook her head, "I told you to stop it, Inu Yasha. Just stop it! Why are you-"

"Wench, why would I want to lie about a matter such as this? You are married to me. That priest married us whether you like it or not. Whether I like it or not."

Kagome's eyebrows turned into a frown, "Enough! Inu Yasha, what do you think you are doing? Why are you-"

"We were duped, Kagome. Sango and Miroku thought it was funny to marry us without us knowing. They thought it was a funny prank… "

She shook her head disbelievingly, "You are lying."

He slightly shook his head, and somehow the truth managed to sink into her. She was so shocked her breath seemed to have stopped. She slowly shook her head, trying to deny this. But in his eyes she knew that there was no other truth.

She looked at herself, and saw her school uniform. She was so stunned it shook her to the very core. How did she always end up in some kind of bizarre scenario? She ran her fingers through her ebony locks and looked at him. "I got married in my school uniform?!" It seemed to be the only thing to matter at that very instant, in her school uniform?!

Inu Yasha shrugged, "Looks like it." He really didn't care.

"Inu Yasha?"

"Yes?"

"OSWARI!" A loud thud made some crows fly away.
