InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Memories Last Forever ❯ Here We Are ( Chapter 1 )
Chapter One. Here we are.
"Kagome!" I hugged her, nearly knocking her over. "Hi!"
She hugged back, "Hi, Sukai. Was I really gone that long?"
"Yes!!" I blurted out "Inuyasha's been pacing around waiting for you all day." The lovable, moody Inuyasha was coming.
"Speak of the devil.." Kagome giggled. We both smiled as we saw Inuyasha's expression. He was acting like he hadn't missed Kagome at all...no surprise there. Kagome started giggling again. I also thought it was amusing, but kept quiet about it.
"Hello Inuyasha," Kagome smirked.
"Feh," Inuyasha looked her over, making sure she was okay. "Took you long enough."
Kagome glared at him, "Really? Why dont you SIT down, so we can talk about it." Inuyasha slammed into the ground, cursing loudly as he went. I sensed the usually fight coming, so I picked up Shippou and headed back to the village.
'We should just leave them alone for a while...'
_____________
I'd been with the group for about a month now. We first met at a village, which had been destroyed a short time before anyone had arrived. Most of the huts were on fire, some destroyed, and dead bodies were strewn about all over the place. I was hunting for a certain herb when I came across the terrible scene. When I arrived I immediately started checking bodies, trying to see if anyone was left alive. No one was.. and the site of the dead children was heart crushing. I checked again, making sure I didn't miss anyone who could possibly be alive. Just then, Inuyasha came. As soon as he saw all the dead villagers and me, sitting beside one, he went crazy. He charged at me, his claws flying. I was injured from a previous battle, so I never had a chance. I was able to dodge a few of Inuyasha's attacks, but that only made him angrier. He managed to slice me in the stomach, right over one of my older wounds. That knocked me unconscious. When I awoke, my wounds were dressed and I was tied securely to a tree. Inuyasha was off to the side, glaring into a fire. Miroku was sitting against a tree a few feet in front of me, glancing at me wearily. Kagome was sitting next to me, watching me with hesitation. Sango was on the other side of the fire, staring into it just as Inuyasha was doing. Inuyasha looked over at me, and when he noticed that I was awake, he jumped up and walked over to me. He poked me in the stomach, making me curl up in pain. I remember his exact words..
"Why did you destroy that village?" I had looked at him curiously. He poked me again. I growled quietly and looked away.
"I didn't destroy that village, you ape. I found it like that and I was trying to see if anyone was alive when YOU barged in and started attacking me." He didn't believe me. I sighed.
"Do you think I smell like human blood?" I glared into Inuyasha's eyes. He glared back for a moment before sighing in defeat.
"No, you don't smell like human blood at all.." Just then, the demon that actually destroyed the village attacked us. We beat it easily, or..they beat it easily. I was tired and sore and I couldn't cut the ropes preventing me from doing anything at all. Afterwards, Inuyasha decided to untie me. We talked for a while about some things.. They weren't very important, so I can barely remember what we were talking about. Kagome and Miroku insisted that I stay. Miroku then made a huge mistake by groping me, which led to him getting a mouth full of dirt and quite a few unhappy words. Sango said nothing, she didn't trust me. That eventually changed. Inuyasha continued to glare at me. Everything worked out though.
________
'I'm glad they let me travel with them...it's nice having a family again. Fighting demons...collecting jewel shards.. Everything before that day isnt really important anymore.'
I would eventually have to deal with my past, but it wasnt necessary now.
Shippou gently pulled on my tail. "Are you okay? You've been standing there with a blank look in your eyes for five minutes now." He looked at me carefully.
"I'm fine," I replied smiling.
We went to Kaede's hut, passing Miroku, who had several gullible women surrounding him. Shippou jumped onto his head. "Find anyone you bear your child yet?" Miroku glared at him. I smirked and continued. The sounds of Kagome and Inuyasha's argument could be heard throughout the village.
'It should be a while till they're done.'
I walked into Kaede's hut, Finding both her and Sango busy making dinner.
'Sango seems annoyed. She must've seen Miroku outside with all the other women'
"Good afternoon, Mitsukai." Sango smiled. The smile was so fake. I dont understand why she doesnt just smack Miroku and lock him up. His behavior is outrageous.
"Same to you, Sango." I smiled. "Something smells good, what are you two making?"
"Good evening, Rosuto. I hear Kagome's returned," Kaede interrupted. "It seems that her and Inuyasha have been arguing for a while now." I wasn't used to people using that name; it distracted me for a second. Kaede always used my first name.
"They have been, but it's normal." I glanced outside. Inuyasha was coming, arms folded over his chest. The usual, arrogant expression on his face slightly depressed. I went outside to meet him.
"Did you send her away again?" I asked, flicking his nose.
"Feh" was the only reply I got. He walked past me, head held high. I sighed. Kagome didnt leave. She was only taking a bath, relaxing in the hot springs. I could smell it. I decided to go join her.
"Kagome..?" I questioned as I got near. She sank down into the water, wrapping her towel around herself.
She saw me and smiled, "Hi, Sukai, you startled me." The usually sadness her and Inuyasha's fights caused was dancing in her eyes. I stepped into the hot spring and sat down. The warm water instantly soothed my tense muscles and I relaxed a little.
'These fights always make her so sad. It would really help everything if Inuyasha wasnt such a jerk all the time.'
I glanced over at Kagome. She too seemed to be lost in thoughts. She sighed. We would be leaving again tomorrow to find more jewel shards. The trip would be much easier if her and Inuyasha were on speaking terms with each other.
"I wish he could try to understand for once.." Kagome whispered, "He doesn't even try to start a peaceful conversation. He just starts yelling and accusing people. He's such a jerk!" Her voice rose as she finished the sentence.
"I know. Maybe he'll be in a better mood in the morning. Him and Shippou were arguing before you came back." I replied. Kagome's sorrow was turning into subtle anger.
"We should probably go now, dinner should be ready soon," I said, standing and wrapping my towel securely around myself. Kagome nodded and followed suit.
We headed back to the village, silent. Kagome seemed to have calmed down a bit. Shippou ran up to us and jumped into Kagome's arms as we approached.
"Kagome!" he cried, "Inuyasha hit me." He cuddled up to Kagome's chest like a small child would. "He's been a real jerk lately, maybe you should sit him more." Kagome smiled slightly when she heard this.
"I think he got enough sits for one day," I ventured, " I heard each one. Kagome must have been very angry with him. He probably deserved it though and I'm sure Kagome must have enjoyed it a little." Kagome blushed at that. She lost her temper, she didnt really mean to sit Inuyasha so much.
'She really loves that crazy guy...He loves her too, but neither will admit it.'
I too had feelings for him, but I won't admit It.. not to myself or anyone else. We continued our short trip to the village. Tomorrow would be a long day....
End of chapter one!
