Kagome got home and was greeted by her mother who didn't look too happy.
“I heard that you got detention again, is this true?”
“Yea, but they let us go early.” Kagome lied, thinking of how they had fooled their teacher … again.
“So what did you do this time?” her mother asked in a rather bored tone.
“Sango and I got in a fight with this boy because he called us ugly and weak; he was a new kid” Kagome explained as she looked through the fridge for something to eat.
Her mother sighed and was about to say something else when she heard a loud noise coming from outside.
“What in the world could that be?” they both were confused as they walked outside, a sandwich in Kagome's hand.
“Oh, these must be the new neighbors.” Her mom said.
“What new neighbors?” Kagome took a bite of her sandwich as she watched two men unload what she thought was the families' belongings.
She was curious to see who was going to be living beside her. “Oh, did I not tell you?” her mom looked confused.
“If you told me I wouldn't have asked you.” Kagome reasoned.
“Oh, well we are getting new neighbors.” Her mom smiled.
“Thanks for the notice mom; I think I'm going to go call Sango now.”
“Weren't you two just together like thirty minutes ago?” her mom pondered as her daughter ran up to her room. “Oh well,” her mom sighed, “I guess I will just tell her later who her new neighbors really are.”
“Guess what Sango.” Kagome asked her as they talked to each other on the phone.
“I don't know … what?” Sango wasn't one to guess at stuff.
“Oh and Kagome I also have something to tell you … but I won't make you guess”
They laughed; they were really a lot like sisters although they were just best friends. “Ok you first Sango.” Kagome told her. “Ok, I got a new neighbor. They just moved in today.”
Kagome could tell that Sango was thrilled about this. “That is really weird because that is what I was going to tell you, I have a new neighbor that just moved in.”
“That is really weird.” Sango agreed. “Have you seen who they are yet, I have seen mine?” Sango giggled at the thought of her new neighbors, especially the young boy who looked around her age.
“No, and what are you so happy about?” Kagome wanted Sango to spill.
“Well, there is this really cute guy that has moved in beside me, did I mention I think he is cute?” Sango was blushing and Kagome knew this even though she couldn't see her.
“I'll have to come over and give a second opinion sometime” Kagome laughed.
“Ok, so who are your neighbors?” Sango asked Kagome once more. “If you would hold on a minute I could look.” Kagome walked over to her bedroom window and watched for any sign of the family, but they must have already gone indoors, it was getting pretty late.
Her mother yelling at her to get off the phone with Sango and to go to bed startled her.
“Ok mom!” she yelled. “See you tomorrow Sango, bye.” Kagome hung up, and laid down on her bed, falling into a deep sleep.

Her alarm clock went off and after a couple failed attempts she managed to shut it off.
She sat up in bed and stretched her arms up above her in a yawn. She picked out her clothes and did her regular morning routine of getting ready.
She told her mom bye and headed out the door, only to come back for her forgotten book bag. “I might need that today.” Kagome said to herself as she picked it up and walked out the door once more.
She made it to the large oak tree only to find Sango waiting for her, tapping her foot and looking at her watch.
When she finally realized Kagome was coming closer she began to speak. “What took you so long?!” Sango asked as the pair walked on to school.
“Sorry Sango, I got half way here and then I realized that I had forgotten my book bag so I had to go back and get it.” Kagome apologized.
“You left your book bag again?” Sango laughed at her sometimes ditzy friend.
“Ha ! You think you're soooo funny!” Kagome laughed sarcastically.
They laughed some more until they made it to their school. They went to their lockers and each put their stuff in their own and two that were empty below them.
They were extra lockers so they took it upon themselves to use them as spares. They got their books and headed off to their classroom, Mrs. Ajewski glared at them as they entered.
They took their seats and immediately started talking to each other, only to have their teacher slam a ruler on their desk, making them jump at the sound.
“Since you two seem to want to talk so much, then you can talk to these new kids we are going to have in our class. I will assign one of them to each of you and you can show them around.”
“What if we don't want to?” they asked hopefully.
“It wasn't a question ladies, it was a command!” Mrs. Ajewski had drawn the attention of the whole class now.
“What are you looking at, get back to work!”
“Gees, what is her problem?” Sango asked. “I have no idea, but I think we are stuck babysitting the new kids, I just hope they know how to keep their mouths shut and listen to us so we don't have to pound them on their first day.” Kagome laughed at this and Sango nodded agreeing.
“Well, I wonder what they look like, and what are the odds of them getting put in the same class?” Sango rambled on as the door started to open.
Mrs. Ajewski was about to introduce him, but he did it himself.
“Hello idiots, my name is I-nu-ya-sha. Nice to meet you and I warn you not to get in my way… or else.” He said his name like they were in kindergarten and couldn't speak. He bowed mockingly to the class, his red cap almost falling off his head, but he snatched it to back very quickly.
Sango and Kagome were beginning to think that keeping their cool with that jerk may be a problem.
The other boy walked in, “My name is Miroku, and it is nice to make you acquaintance.” Sango almost fell out of her seat when he introduced himself.
“What's wrong Sango?” Kagome asked rather concerned. “That is the guy that moved in beside me … Miroku.” Sango said in a whispered squeal.
Kagome looked at Miroku's appearance to see that he had dark hair that was pulled into a low ponytail, “Maybe you'll end up showing him around.”
Kagome half hoped that she did but the other half hoped she didn't because she would be stuck with the arrogant jerk. She sighed, “Oh well, It would be worth it to see the smile on Sango's face if she did get paired up with Miroku, and we can always switch if I get him.” Kagome whispered to herself.
“What did you say Kagome?” Sango didn't hear what she said because she was looking at Miroku. “What…. Oh, nothing.” Kagome smiled, mentally telling herself to not think out loud.
“That was a very nice introduction Inuyasha. Now, you will be assigned someone to help you with getting used to where everything is and how things work around here. Since Kagome and Sango volunteered themselves,” Mrs. Ajewski was cut off.
“We did no such thing! You volunteered us!” Kagome let out an indignant cry.
“Well just think of it as punishment for your little stunt yesterday, by the way you still have to go to the detention like you should have done.”
Kagome slumped in her chair, crossing her arms and in an undertone called her teacher a witch.
The only one who heard her was Sango and she just laughed at her pouting friend.
“Where was I … oh, yes, since they volunteered themselves, they will be helping you out; now take your seat.” Mrs. Ajewski commanded.
The two boys who had watched the little scene between the teacher and Kagome were amused.
They scanned the room for seats and they saw some in the back. Miroku went back to those seats and sat down, but Inuyasha didn't want to sit in the back, he liked the front better.
In fact, he liked the seats where Kagome and Sango were sitting.
