Chapter 2: Kagome's Date and a Heavy Heart
Kagome climbed out of the well, and ran into the house calling to everyone, "Mom,
Souta, Grandpa, I'm Back."
Her family said in unison, "Kagome!"
"How long are you here for this time?" Her mom asked.
"Until Sunday morning" she replied.
At that second the phone rang, Kagome walked over and answered it.
"Hello, Higurashi residence " she said.
"Higurashi!" the voice on the phone cried out "Your back! When did you get back?
How are your new sicknesses? Your grandpa told me you had to go see a specialist
this time in another country"
"Oh…Well…um…they are…uh…okay, I have to go back for more treatments on
Sunday" she told the person on the phone giving her grandpa a fierce look.
At that moment grandpa said in a rushed tone," I got to go do a few things, I'll see
you later, Kagome" and ran out of the room.
"Higurashi," the voice said, "Would you like to go out tonight or tomorrow night? If
your feeling up to it that is."
She thought it over for a second "sure, I'd like that, tonight is fine, see you later,
bye-bye" and she hung the phone up.
"Who was that, dear?" her mom asked.
"It was Houjo" she replied. "I'm going out with him tonight, is that okay?" she asked
"Of course it is" came her moms answer.
It was evening when Kagome had gotten back to her time, she wondered if she
would be able to take a short nap before her date with Houjo. "Mom, could I lay
down for a little while?" she asked.
"I don't see why not" was her mom's answer.
Kagome walked up stairs towards her room, decided to take a shower fist, so she
got her things and went into the bathroom for her shower. The first thing that
popped in her mind was "How am I going to get through this night without thinking
of my friends in…" she stopped her self from thinking that, she could and would get
through this night without thinking about any of them especially, InuYasha. She
finished her shower and went into her room; she was fast asleep as soon as her
head hit the pillow.

sun had set an hour ago, Then with a final decision, the figure leapt into the well.

Kagome got dressed for her date, trying hard not to think of her friends. There was
a knock at the door and that helped her from not thinking of her friends. "I got it"
Souta called as he opened the door.
Houjo stood on the opposite side with a small bouquet of flowers. "Come in Houjo,
Kagome should be down in a minute," Souta told Houjo. At that time, Kagome
walked down the stairs.
Houjo smiled and handed Kagome the flowers, she smelled their beautiful scent and
asked her mom to put them into a vase for her. Then she and Houjo left.

InuYasha crawled out of the well silently, creeping out side and sniffed the air, he
could smell her, so he jumped up onto the roof of her house, quietly walked to her
window and looked in hoping to see her there safe, he all but panicked when he
didn't see her there, "She might be in another part of the hut", he thought to
himself. So he jumped down from the roof to try to see if he could smell or sense
her, as he neared the front of the house he caught Kagome's scent again, mixed
with another, he stopped suddenly sniffing the air harder, the other scent was a
male. The scents was coming from down the road, raging mad inside he quickly
followed it, catching up to Kagome and this male she was with in no time at all.
Keeping his anger under control the best he could, InuYasha traveled up on the
roofs of the buildings not wanting Kagome to see him or to let his anger go. He
watched the two together, noticing how happy Kagome looked, which sent a pain
through his heart, to see Kagome happy with another male was torturous. He was
getting ready to head back when something inside him said, "stay, maybe it's not
what it appears" listening to this voice he did.
* * * * * *
Kagome was having a great time not once did she think of her friends, unaware that
she was being spied on. Kagome and Houjo talked happily about school and other
things over dinner, they had seen a movie earlier, and then all to sudden it was time
to go home, she was more tired then she thought. Houjo walked her back to her
house. They stopped in front of the door and looked at each other.
"I had a wonderful time, Houjo" Kagome said smiling.
"So did I, we should do it again sometime" he replied.
They leaned towards each other, both closing their eyes. Then a flash of a white
haired boy in a red kimono went through Kagome's mind, InuYasha. She stopped and
looked away. "Is InuYasha here?" She asked herself "don't be silly, why would he
be here?"
"What's the matter?" Houjo asked a bit concerned.
"I…I can't…do this," she whispered.
"It's okay, I understand," he said
"Y…you do?" Kagome said sounding a little surprised
"Yes, I do, you want to wait until all your sickness are healed, right?" he said
A nod of her head was her only response.
"That's fine, Kagome" He smiled and gave her a hug instead
She hugged him back, cursing her mind for sending that image.
"Good night, Kagome" Houjo said as he let her go, and turned to leave
"Good night, Houjo, Thanks for a wonderful time" she called after him. Then she
turned and went inside to go to bed.

InuYasha was perched in a near by tree, he had seen everything and sighed with
relief when she didn't kiss the other male. His heart had stopped when he saw them
almost… he felt as though he had lost her, but when she said she couldn't, his heart
leapt for joy, knowing there was a chance he could still have her. He would have to
make claim on her soon, or else he might not get the chance later. Deciding he
should leave for his time, knowing if anyone found out what he had done he would
have a lot of explaining to do, especially if Kagome found out, she would be in raged
that he would do such a thing. He quickly headed for the well; reaching it, he
jumped in fast and left Kagome in her time with a small smile on his face.

Kagome woke early Sunday morning, she sighed to herself, "I can't believe it's
already Sunday", she said "It'll be good to see all my friends again though" she
thought a moment "Well, most of them, at least" she really didn't think InuYasha
would be happy to see her back. She thought about how much fun she had had
with Houjo this weekend; she had spent a few hours with him Friday, and most of
yesterday. She smiled to herself, and then with an unhappy thought of InuYasha
frowned. She got out of bed and got dressed, then she got her stuff ready, her
family was already up when she came down packed and ready to go.
"Leaving so soon?" her mom asked a little sad.
"Yeah, I think I should get back" she replied. "Bye everyone" she hugged her family
and went out to the well, looked at it for a second then jumped in.
