Chapter 6- Coming Close

Miroku turned his right side to face Sango. He took her hands into his. Sango began to blush like crazy. "Sango" he whispered hoarsely. He pressed closer to her body and began to lean his head.

Sango couldn't breathe. `Miroku' she thought.

Miroku was descending closer and closer to Sango's pink, full lips.

Sango's eyelids became heavy and began to close. Before her lids completely she caught Shippo staring with big, shocked, emerald eyes. Her body woke up from its dream state. "SMACK!" Sango's handprint was imprinted on Miroku's cheek.

`So close' thought Miroku. "Don't do that again you perverted monk!" she yelled. Her face was flushed, `I almost kissed Miroku.' The thought made her heart skip a beat.

Kagome and Inuyasha both opened their eyes when they heard Sango's yelling. Amber eyes locked onto honey-brown ones. Blood was rushing to their faces and their heart beats increased in perfect rhythm. Both realized exactly where their arms were positioned. Kagome still had her arms wrapped around Inuyasha's neck and Inuyasha still had his arms wrapped around Kagome's waist. They abruptly let go of each other and faced the opposite way.

`I wasin Inuyasha's arms, again.' Kagome shook her head as a dreamy look flashed through her eyes. `I know it's wrong because of Kikyo, but I love him. I don't want this to end.'

Inuyasha sat behind Kagome Indian style, staring out the opposite of Kagome. `I held Kagome in my arms again.' Thoughts of Kagome and Kikyo swirled into his mind. He closed his eyes to clear his thoughts. He reopened his eyes and the image of Kagome's smiling face. His heart beat quickened. He remembered the feel of her in his arms and her scent of sakura blossoms and honey. `Damn, why am I feeling this way?'

Miroku and Sango walked towards Kagome and Inuyasha. Shippo and Kilala close behind. Sango kept her distance from the houshi, `Perverted monk.' Her `almost kiss' with Miroku kept replaying her mind. `I wanted to kiss him.' The thought surprised her.

Sango kneeled by Kagome, "Kagome are you ok?" Kagome looked up at Sango and smiled, `I'm fine Sango, just a little tired." Sango looked at disbelieving. "I understand Kagome." Kagome cocked an eyebrow, "What did Miroku do this time?" Sango looked taken aback by Kagome's question. A faint blush tainted her cheeks as responded, "He tried to kiss me' she whispered. Kagome's eyes brightened and she smiled. Sango looked confused. "What are you smiling at Kagome?" Kagome snapped her fingers, `I knew Sango and Mirokuloved each other' she thought to herself. She smiled inwardly at her discovery. Sango, on the other hand, wasn't so happy with Kagome's smirk.

Her mouth dropped when she realized what Kagome might be thinking. "I am NOT in LOVE with Miroku!!" she yelled. Deep down inside Sango wasn't so sure. Kagome, however looked like a scared kitten trapped in a corner.

Miroku and Inuyasha were listening to the girl's conversation, only a few feet away. They sank back when they heard Sango's yells again. `Sigh' Miroku face fell, `So close.'

Kagome's breathe was suddenly caught in her throat. Sango let go of her anger and worried emotions took their replacement. "Inuyasha something is wrong with Kagome." Kagome clutched her chest with her fist.

Inuyasha and Miroku rushed to Kagome's side. "Kagome what's wrong?" asked Inuyasha, worry laced in his voice. "Inuyasha…. jewel shards…."

Inuyasha unsheathed tetsusaiga; Sango readied her large boomerang, Miroku his staff and Kilala with Shippo ready for battle. Once Kagome took self control she readied her bow and arrows. `This demon has the last couple of remaining jewel shards. It won't be an easy battle' she thought grimly.
