InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ My One and Only ❯ We need to Talk ( Chapter 10 )
Disclaimer: Arghh, I don't friggin' own Inuyasha! Trust me, if I did Kouga would be all mine and we'd have adorable hanyou wolf demon kids. ^__^
A/N: This chapter is not that long. I had some difficulty on writing Inuyasha's and Kikyo's scene. I hope it's not too bad. Normally if I break wit a guy, I just a leave a message on his cell phone, I'm too chicken to do it in person. Well, enough about my problems, On with Kagome' and Inuyasha's problems! YAY! (sigh)
Chapter 10- We need to talk
`I love you …'
Those three little words uttered from Kagome's mouth made Inuyasha's head spin and his heart thump harder and faster. He remembered her about to tell him something, but instead he chose to follow one of Kikyo's soul stealers. However, when those three words were said he stopped completely. He turned around and went to Kagome, only to find her yelling, crying and hurt, both physically and emotionally.
"You never stopped thinking about her! She died 50 years ago! You still refuse to see that. She's dead! Dead! DEAD!!"
Her words pierced straight through his heart.
"I hate you Inuyasha. I take back what I said; I don't want to be by your side forever. You already chose who you want to be with. STAY with her. I hate you!!!"
Watching her from a safe distance, he saw her fall and just lay in the mud, motionless, he turned his face, unable to look at her at that moment. Thoughts of what he should now began to formulate. The only thought that he decided was the best was to leave her be, until he heard a soft yet dark chuckle emit from her mouth. Her final words made him feel lighter than he had ever felt before.
"It's all a lie you know. I can never hate you Inuyasha. I only want your happiness, even if that doesn't include me. I love you and I always will, now and forever."
Those few phrases made his heart beat faster against his chest. His stomach did a series of somersaults. He knew what he had to do.
----------------
Kikyo waited in the clearing for her beloved hanyou to make his appearance. She saw him with her reincarnation, sitting on Goshinbuko. Her reincarnation was about to tell Inuyasha she loved him, until one of her pets made his appearance. A sinister smile graced her lips as she saw a blur of red and silver in the sky, `I knew he would come.'
---------------
Inuyasha landed softly on the surprisingly dry ground. `Kikyo must have a barrier around her.'
He saw the woman he loved 50 years ago standing a few feet away from him. She was wearing the same miko clothing she had worn when she was a priestess. Her floral scent was faintly recognizable, but the stench of dirt and death was more dominant. He began to talk cautious steps toward her.
Kikyo couldn't help the smirk on her lips from appearing. `You will go to hell with me Inuyasha.'
"Kikyo."
"Inuyasha, I'm glad to see you still remember me. However, I sense something is troubling you. Tell me, Inuyasha, what business brings you here."
Inuyasha looked at Kikyo's now emotionless, cold brown eyes, "Kikyo, we need to talk."
Kikyo raised a perfectly sculpted brow, "What of Inuyasha? You don't intend to take back your promise, do you?"
Inuyasha sighed, "I…I can't go to hell with you Kikyo."
Kikyo clenched her fists together, "So, you are here to break your promise to me Inuyasha. I won't let you; remember you vowed to come with me." she spat coldly.
Inuyasha took smaller steps towards her, his eyes full of sadness and sorrow, `This isn't the same Kikyo I fell in love with.' he thought, his heart clenching with a new realization.
He extended a clawed hand to her, but she swatted it away. "No Inuyasha. You promised to embrace death with me, and you will not go back on that promise!"
Suddenly Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Kikyo's cold, lifeless body.
"I'm sorry Kikyo, but I vowed to protect another. I can't leave her." Kikyo pushed Inuyasha away with her hands. She glared at the silver-haired hanyou.
"She is my reincarnation, nothing more. She shares my soul. I won't give you up to her."
Inuyasha's head hung, his bangs covering his eyes. He remembered something Kagome told him once when he saw her sitting on the well. `Kagome has her own her heart and will, she and Kikyo may share a soul, but they are not the same person.'
"Inuyasha, she is nothing but a reincarnation. You belong to me, only me!"
Inuyasha's amber eyes locked in a gaze with Kikyo, "I'm sorry Kikyo, but she has her own heart. I don't know when it happened but I fell in love with Kagome."
Kikyo sneered, "You will go to hell with me Inuyasha. We'll just see who ends up with who Inuyasha." She threw her hands up in the air and her soul stealers surrounded her, taking her farther away from the hanyou. Once she completely disappeared the rain beat down on Inuyasha's body.
"I'm sorry Kikyo." He sunk to his knees, finally letting go of the woman he had once loved.
--------------------------
Kagome shivered as she felt the cold wind scrapping her wet body. The rain continued it's down pour on all the surroundings.
`I can't stay here. What if Inuyasha comes back?' She shook her head, wet ebony locks clinging to her face, `No, I can't face him, not now. I need to get away from this, a couple of days at home will do.'
She pushed herself up with hands. She began to slowly walk away from the sacred, Goshinbuko. `I'd rather not say goodbye to any of my friends. I don't want to answer any questions.'
She made her way to the old well in the middle of Inuyasha's forest. The bruises on her knees and hands were stinging; she was freezing cold and wet. Her raven hair stuck to her face and her school uniform was clinging to her body somewhat indecently.
"Bye Inuyasha." she whispered as she jumped into a mystical whirlpool of blue lights.
-------------------------
Silver hairs were clinging to his face, making it harder to navigate through the trees.
`I need to straight things out with Kagome.'
Once he saw Kaede's hut he increased his speed. With one final, long jump he easily landed before the hut's entrance. Making sure no one saw him, he went down on all fours and shook off the rain of his body. Once again on both feet he roughly pulled away the curtain Kaede roughly and looked at his companions sitting besides a fire.
`Where is Kagome?' he thought.
"Where were ye Inuyasha? And where is Kagome?" asked Kaede.
Inuyasha looked to his right to see Sango staring at him with narrowed cold, eyes. "What the heck are you looking at me like for?"
Sango `'humped' as turned her face away from him, "Don't act like nothing happened Inuyasha. Miroku and I saw Kagome outside and we were no where to be found." Sango stood up slowly and stared at Inuyasha straight in the face, "You were with Kikyo." To Sango those were the vilest words she has ever spoken. She pulled a face a stepped away from him.
Inuyasha's cheeks felt hot as he heard Sango accuse him of being off with Kikyo. `Well, she's right.' He mentally kicked himself.
Miroku cleared his throat, "Well it would seem as though Lady Kagome won't be coming any time soon. Sango and I left her to be over a half hour ago."
Shippo, who was sitting next Kilala jumped up to scold Inuyasha. "Inuyasha you were off with Kikyo again? You know Kagome gets sad when you do that!" Shippo walked over to Sango and leaped on her shoulder, "Is Kagome coming back?" he asked timidly, almost on the verge of tears.
Sango held her arms out as Shippo softly landed on them. She soothed the young kitsune by petting his tail affectionately, "I'm sure Kagome will be back Shippo. She just needs some time alone."
Inuyasha grimaced and the left the hut as quickly as her could. He needed to get to the well and tell Kagome how he feels and bring her back.
------------------------
"There, now Inuyasha won't be ably to pass through to my time." she stated sadly. Kagome finished placing the spell Kaede had taught her, so if when she didn't desire Inuyasha to pass through to her time, he couldn't.
-------------------------
Kikyo barged into Naraku's castle.
Kagura was making her rounds when she saw the undead miko rudely barge in. "hat do you want?"
Kikyo eyes Kagura from head to toe before giving her response, "I wish to speak with Naraku."
Kagura undid her fan and brought up to her face, shielding everything but her crimson eyes. She turned away to make her leave and sneered. `What could she possibly want with Naraku?'
-------------------------
Naraku sat Indian style by the window of his room. The door opened and before that person addressed herself, he spoke in smooth voice, "Kikyo, I didn't you to drop by."
Kikyo smirked, "Cut the act Naraku. You knew perfectly well I was coming. Now, we need to talk."
