Chapter VI

 

InuYasha was dashing through the forest oblivious to the fact that Kagome was yelling at him to slow down.

 

“InuYasha sit!” she shouted. InuYasha stopped dead in his tracks and fell to the ground.

 

“What did you do that for!” he yelled as he lifted his head from the ground.

 

“I want to go along with you to find this mystery person. Kaede has enough help with Miroku and Sango” Kagome said as she finally caught up.

 

InuYasha got up and dusted himself off.

 

“Who is this mystery savior of yours anyway?” she asked.

 

“You will know once we find him. He isn't too far, I can smell him from here.”

 

“Why can't he just tell me…” She mumbled to herself.

 

As they walked side by side, Kagome kept sneezing every few minutes. This was irritating InuYasha.

 

“I still think you would have been better off with the others. Walking around with a cold can't be good.”

 

“I'm fine don't worry, she said with a smile to hide the obvious fact, someone is probably gossiping about me right now and…” Suddenly she became pale and started to fall.

 

InuYasha caught her. “Kagome! Kagome are you all right?” He asked but he did not get an answer. She had fallen unconscious.

 

“Oh no…” InuYasha's heart skipped a beat as concern grew into his eyes. “I have to find him soon!” He placed Kagome on his back and ran through the forest.

 

 

They were approaching a clearing. “He's right here.” InuYasha whispered after smelling the air to confirm it. As he walked into the clearing with Kagome on his back, he saw who he was looking for. It was his brother. Sesshomaru was alone; Jaken and Rin were nowhere to be seen. InuYasha placed Kagome down and shouted at Sesshomaru to get his attention.

 

Sesshomaru turned towards his brother. “What is it that you want?” he said annoyed.

 

“I need your help. Naraku has poisoned us and it killed Shippo and Kirara, its possible that we might be next.” InuYasha pointed towards Kagome. “I think she might be next…”

 

Sesshomaru kept looking at InuYasha with his cold look.

 

“Well are you going to help us or not? InuYasha shouted. We're running out of time!”

 

“I have no use for this. He replied coldly. I do not help mortals.”

 

InuYasha growled. “You have to help… they're dying and I don't know what to do to save them…”

 

“InuYasha you fool. Spending all this time with these humans made you weak. Caring for weak mortals places you in these situations. You must live through the consequences.” Sesshomaru turned away and started to walk away.

 

Not wanting to lose his only chance to save his friends, he looked around in a desperate attempt to find something to convince his brother to help him.

 

“Um… I…I'll give you my Tetsusaiga if you help!” He blurted out. Sesshomaru stopped and looked over his shoulder towards InuYasha.

 

“You will give me your Tetsusaiga just to save a few humans? You disgust me…”

 

“I thought you wanted my sword.”

 

“I do want your sword, but I will kill you to get it.”

 

“Fine then if you want to fight then bring it on!” InuYasha barked as he unsheathed the Tetsusaiga.

 

“I will fight and kill you when you are at full strength. The poison has started to affect your body even though you haven't noticed, but I have.”

 

Furious from his brother's constant refusal to help, he dashed towards him.

 

“If you don't want to fight then I will!” Sesshomaru took out the Tokijin to block InuYasha's sword. Lightning appeared from the two swords colliding together. A mighty burst of energy from the Tokijin launched InuYasha into a nearby tree. For a moment he could not get back up.

“I suggest you stop wasting your time with me. Your friends don't have much time left.” Sesshomaru said as he replaced his sword and walked away.

InuYasha had an angry look on his face but didn't move. “Damnit. What do I do now? …”
