Never End
Chapter 2:
"Inuyasha," Sango said as she ran up to him, "Where's Kagome?"
"What do you mean where's…" Inuyasha stopped when he realized that Kagome had left. `Why didn't I realize this when she first disappeared?' he asked himself angrily.
"Can you smell where she went?" Miroku asked him, out of breath from the fight with the rock youkai.
"Well of course I can!" Inuyasha said irritably, then paused to smell the air so he could figure out how to find her. Then he stopped, his eyes wide with shock.
"Inuyasha?" Sango asked him, "What's wrong? Where is she?"
"She's with," he started, still shocked, "my brother…"
Sango and Miroku just stared at him, as shocked as he was.

"What are we going to do with her now Sesshoumaru-sama?" Rin asked her surrogate father.
"I will give her to my servants to take care of," he told her, it was bad enough he had to carry this woman, but there was no way he would waste his time taking care of her. He called a few servants, who took Kagome out of his arms carefully. "She has broken ribs and a broken leg, try not to let her die," he told them as they took her away. "Hai, Sesshoumaru-sama," they said, and disappeared down a hallway.
"May I go too Sesshoumaru-sama?" Rin asked hopefully, still worried about the beautiful girl that Sesshoumaru had agreed to save.
"No Rin, it would be best if you stayed away while the servants take care of her," Sesshoumaru told her, but Rin looked up at him with her puppy-dog eyes again, and he sighed. "Tomorrow you may go see her," he said, and although that wasn't the answer Rin wanted, she accepted it.
"Arigatou Sesshoumaru-sama!" she said and hugged him.
"Jakken," Sesshoumaru said to his servant, who had been waiting patiently for orders while his master was sorting things out, "Please take Rin outside and watch her."
"Hai Sesshoumaru-sama!" Jakken said, and scornfully took the young Rin out to play.
Sesshoumaru thought about what he should do, then decided that he ought to go check on his half-brother's wench, if she died he would have to use the Tenseiga to save her, although he did not want to. He walked down the hallway that led to the room where his servants took her; it was the only room that contained healing herbs and spare cloth used for bandages. He looked inside the room and saw her lying on the bed, bandages wrapped around her upper body and splints on her right leg, which was also wrapped in bandages. Her other cuts and scrapes had been cleaned, and there was one servant watching her, occasionally checking to make sure she was still alive. "How is she?" Sesshoumaru asked the servant, his voice holding no emotion as he looked upon the girl.
"I believe that she will live," the servant said, "Her wounds were not as bad as we had thought, she will have to rest for weeks before she is fully healed though."
Sesshoumaru did not like that she would have to stay for weeks, but hopefully his stupid half-brother would come and get her and save him the trouble of keeping her here. "Thank you, you may leave," he told the servant, who bowed and left the room. Sesshoumaru lingered for a few moments longer, looking at the girl who was in his care, then left to go tell Rin that she could come and visit now.

Kagome woke up feeling very confused. She was sure that she must have died, she distinctly remembered passing out in the middle of the forest, there's no way anyone could have found her. Yet here she was, on a soft bed, alive, her wounds cleaned and bandaged. She blinked several times, her eyes weren't focusing right, it looked like she was in some sort of a castle, and she knew that couldn't be right. She looked again, and again she saw the castle-like setting. "Hello?" she asked weakly, she desperately wanted to figure out where she was and who was taking care of her. No one replied, so she relaxed into the soft pillow and waited for someone to come and see her, she couldn't possibly be the only one here. Kagome laid there for what seemed like hours, forcing the memories of how she got hurt out of her mind.
"Hello?" a voice called from the doorway, and she looked up to see Rin.
"Hi," Kagome said, surprised to see the girl that Sesshoumaru traveled with in the doorway. The little girl, delighted that Kagome was awake, bounded into the room and sat on the chair next to Kagome's bed.
"Sesshoumaru-sama said it was okay for Rin to come visit you now!" she said, smiling happily at Kagome.
"Sess-Sesshoumaru?" Kagome asked, slightly frightened.
"Hai!" Rin said, "Rin asked him to save you in the forest, and he brought you here!"
Kagome was shocked; she would have thought that Sesshoumaru would have let her die in the forest rather than save her. "Arigatou Rin, that is your name right?" Kagome asked.
"Hai!" Rin said, "What is yours?"
"I'm Higurashi Kagome," Kagome told her. "Kagome! What a nice name!" Rin said excitedly, "Will you stay here and be Rin's friend? Sesshoumaru-sama never plays with Rin, and Jakken-sama is so boring!"
Kagome was surprised that the girl asked her this, she had thought Sesshoumaru wouldn't let her stay any longer than he had to. "Well, um, Rin, I should actually go back to…" Kagome was going to tell her that she had to go back to her friends, but that meant back to Inuyasha, and she wasn't going to face him now, not after what he did to her. "Sure Rin, I'll stay as long as Sesshoumaru-sama will let me," she said, and Rin smiled up at her adoringly.
