Author's Notes: Okay, I have no idea what happened the last time I loaded this… I don't have any other files that have any part of this chapter in it, so I couldn't have uploaded the wrong file or anything… I noticed that it stopped right where I have a `half' symbol, maybe that's what confused it? I'm gonna change it now just in case. Here's the real chapter guys, sorry, and thanks for telling me!

Never End

Chapter 4:

Kagome sat on her bed, still shaken by what had just happened. `He acted like I was going to try to murder someone or something!' she thought to herself, getting angry at Sesshoumaru. She stayed there fuming for a while, until she smelled something delicious coming her way. `Oh wow I hope I'm not dreaming,' she thought as a servant laid a tray of very yummy-looking food on her bed. "Thank you," she said to the servant as he left, and he looked back at her, then continued on his way. `Oh well!' she thought, then she looked down at the food and attacked.

~2 and a half seconds later~

`Oh that was great,' Kagome thought to herself as she placed the chopsticks on the edge of her plate. She picked the tray up tried to set it down carefully on the floor beside her, but it ended up slipping halfway down and crashing to the floor. "Damnit," Kagome cursed, but she didn't see or hear any signs that anyone had noticed, so she laid down on the bed and snuggled into it, feeling so comfortable she felt that she could fall asleep instantly.

One hour later Kagome was still awake, her eyes shut tight, trying to will herself to fall asleep. It wasn't working. She sighed inwardly and relaxed, she knew that the more she thought about it the more impossible it would be to sleep. She didn't want to let her mind wander, because there was only one place it wanted to go. Inuyasha. And Kagome did not want to think about him right now. About how he would have let her die. He would have let her die… A warm tear trickled down her cheek as the statement kept repeating itself over and over in her head. She tried to think about something else, anything else. Rin… he would have kept fighting and not even noticed… Shippou and Rin would probably get along pretty well… her friends would bury her cold, dead body, and he would only be upset because of the loss of his shard detector… Sango and Miroku obviously had crushes on each other… they would have gotten married, and Kagome wouldn't have been able to be there, because Inuyasha let her die… Tears continued to course down her face. She willed herself to stop crying and get to sleep, and although she did manage to stop crying, she still couldn't sleep. Then she heard someone enter her room.

Sesshoumaru was not sure what drove him to go check on the girl. Perhaps it was mere boredom, or maybe he was actually worried about her. All he knew was that he was walking around his house that night, as usual, he had no need for sleep, and he ended up walking straight to Kagome's room. He hesitated a little before entering, then remembered that this was his house, and he was able to go wherever he wanted, and walked in. What he saw surprised him. There was Kagome, asleep in her bed, but with tears on her face. He walked over to hear, thinking she was in pain, and shook her shoulders gently. Her eyes opened slowly, and she looked slightly shocked to see him there. "What is wrong?" he asked her gently as he used the edge of her blanket to wipe off her tears.

Kagome didn't expect Sesshoumaru to be so caring. She didn't expect him to come to her room at all truthfully. "Nothing," she whispered, she didn't feel like talking about what had happened, especially not with Sesshoumaru.

For some reason her response upset Sesshoumaru. Here he was, kind enough to have saved her life, and she wouldn't even tell him the reason she was crying. "Fine wench," he spat at her as he sat up. He went to the doorway quickly, before he said or did anything else that he might regret. "I will be gone tomorrow," he informed her, then he walked off. He had no idea why he told her that he would be gone. `Maybe I'm daring her to try something while I am gone,' he thought to himself, `But if she did try something, my servants would stop her, so it does not matter.'

Kagome was shocked. Sesshoumaru came in and acted like he cared, and then he left, pissed off because she wouldn't tell him why she was crying. `It's none of his business why I was crying!' she thought to herself angrily. She knew she wouldn't be able to take too much more of him. He kept coming in to see her as if he actually cared whether she lived or not, but all he ever did was act rude and unkind. `Fine!' she thought, `I'll just leave then, he's going to be gone tomorrow anyway!' Her mind made up, she laid back down and finally fell asleep.
