InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Never End ❯ Chapter 5 ( Chapter 5 )
Author's Notes: Thanks for you people who are taking the time to review, it makes my day when I know people like what I'm doing. I try to make my chapters reasonably long (meaning 2 or 3 pages long in Microsoft Word), but for some reason it's really hard with this fic, AND I HAVE A FREAKING OUTLINE!!! *Waves outline in front of everyone's face* Oh wait!!!!! *Stops waving the outline and hides it* You can't see that, it would spoil everything! Sneaky people…
Disclaimer: I forgot to mention that I stole my title from the Namie Amuro song, Never End (duh), and we already know I don't own InuYasha.
Never End
Chapter 5:
Kagome was woken up by Sesshoumaru's servants, who were changing her bandages. Figuring it would be best if Sesshoumaru thought that she was asleep, she pretended she wasn't awake and thought about how she could escape instead. If Sesshoumaru was far enough away she should be able to make it close enough to a village so she could get some help. Some different help. Of course Kagome was grateful for what Sesshoumaru had done for her, but he hadn't done it because he wanted to save her life, he had done it because Rin had wanted him to. And he sure wasn't being nice about it at all.
The servants had finished replacing her bandages and her leg splints, and had gotten up and left. `Okay,' Kagome thought, thinking this through, `I should wait a little while to make sure there aren't any servants near, then I think I can hobble out the door and…' Kagome stopped when she remembered what had happened last night. She had barely made it to the doorway and she had felt like she couldn't walk much more. How on earth was she supposed to get out of this room, let alone out of Sesshoumaru's house!
Kagome growled at herself for a little while, fuming, then decided that she should try it anyways. What was the worst thing that could happen if she got caught? She would either be sent back to her room, or… well, be sent back to her room. Sesshoumaru couldn't kill her or let her go if Rin still wanted her to stay. Happy that she could almost get away with whatever she wanted while she was still injured, Kagome got off of her bed and hopped to the doorway, afraid to put any weight on her right leg. She looked to the left, and saw that there was one more room past hers in the hall, and then it stopped. She looked to her right and saw three doors and then what looked like a sort of living room. Kagome continued hopping until she got to the end of the hall, and looked around the living room. It wasn't as big as she had expected it to be, only about two or three times the size of the room she was given, but to her delight she saw a door on her right, which she hoped led outside. She looked around once more to make sure there weren't any servants, then hopped quickly to the door and pushed it open. She almost shouted with joy when she saw a forest and flowers bordering a pathway. Kagome started to hop towards the path, then realized that if Sesshoumaru came back that would most likely be the route he would take, so instead she hopped towards the forest, hoping nothing dangerous would be lurking there.
"What do you mean she's gone?! How could you have let him take her dog shit?" Kouga yelled at Inuyasha. He was furious that Inuyasha could have let Kagome almost die, and even more furious that he let her be taken by Sesshoumaru. "That brother of yours doesn't even like humans right? Who's to say he won't kill her! Wow, you really fucked up this time," he added, sneering.
"Don't you think I know that," Inuyasha said quietly. "Don't you think, that if I could go back, I would take care of her?" he asked Kouga, his anger rising.
"Whoa, geez, you don't have to get all upset," Kouga said, surprised that Inuyasha was so hurt over this. "You don't have to worry though, I'll go get her!" he told the group, and then sped off in a whirlwind before anyone could comment or argue.
"Inuyasha, are you sure it's best that Kouga goes to get Kagome?" Sango asked Inuyasha in a worried voice. "I don't know if he'd bring her back."
"He better bring our Kagome back!" Shippou said off of Inuyasha's shoulder. The incident with Kagome brought them closer together; in a way they shared each other's pain.
"He will bring her back if she wants to come back Sango," Miroku said, "He will not keep her with him against her will."
"That's the problem Miroku," Inuyasha said softly, "What if she doesn't want to come back?"
Everyone looked at Inuyasha, thinking about what he said, and then realizing it was true. She would have been dead if things hadn't happened like they had. And it would have been their fault. Kagome had no reason to come back to them. For all they knew, she hated them. A feeling of hopelessness sunk into them all as they sat down in the grass to rest.
Kouga sped through the forest, following Kagome's scent. `Dog shit sure was in a bad mood,' he thought to himself as he grew closer to Kagome. He came closer and closer until he could see her through the trees. She was sitting on the ground panting, her right leg in a splint and bandages wrapped around her torso. There were also fresh scratches on her bare arms and leg, most likely from bushes and branches. She started talking to herself, and Kouga almost laughed until he heard what she was saying.
Kagome was proud of herself for getting so far away from Sesshoumaru's house in her condition. She had to be at least a mile or so away from it, and it was only just past noon. If she had any strength left she would pat herself on the back. But if she did her arm would probably fall off. Not a good idea, she kinda needed it. So instead she just sat there, catching her breath and trying to figure out how the hell she was going to make it to a village before nightfall. "I'll never make it," she whispered to herself, her eyes starting to fill with tears. "I ran away and now I have to pay for it, there's no one here to save me this time. I'll never make it," she repeated, and the tears started to fall freely. "Huh?" she said to herself, "I sense jewel shards… Kouga?!" She almost screamed when he quickly ran to her side and picked her up.
"Hey, Kagome, no need to be sad, I'm here to save you!" he told her, and then he ran off with her in a whirlwind.
"No, Kouga," she tried to say, but he couldn't hear her, the wind was too strong. The wound on her chest had reopened and she was bleeding freely. She was also feeling sick and dizzy, but if that was from her wound or the spinning she didn't know. All she knew was that it was getting harder and harder to stay awake, and even if Kouga got her back she didn't know if it would be in time.
"What are you doing with her?" a voice called.
`Oh great,' Kagome thought, `Now I'm starting to hear strange voices, heh, that almost sounds like Sesshoumaru…'
