InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 13 ( Chapter 13 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
"What is it?" The Miko asked the young boy in front of her. He
certainly seemed nervous.
"I, um, well I actually have a question for you." Kohaku took a deep
breath. "Will you let Nari and I wed?" The Miko smiled. She had been
expecting this question since they had gotten back. It was obvious that
Nari and Kohaku liked each other.
"Of course. I assume that Miroku will be performing the ceremony as
soon as appropriete wedding clothes are made for each of you?" Kohaku
blushed and nodded, relieved that she had said yes, he could marry Nari.
"Wait for about a week. You'll find packages outside your door. The blue
one goes to Nari and you shall wear the outfit in the black box. Do not
peek inside the blue box, got it?"the Miko asked. Kohaku nodded again.
As soon as he was dismissed, he went straight to Nari to tell her the
good news. When Nari saw the direction he had come from-her mother's
room- and noted his grin, she put 2 and 2 together and inferred that he
had gotten permission to marry her. She walked up to him and flung her
arms around him, quietly asking when the date was.
"In about a week. The Miko told me that she'd have our wedding dress
(A/N: What they'd wear to the wedding, not actual dresses.) delivered to
my door." Nari nodded and smiled, tears of happiness leaking out her
eyes. The happy couple ran off to give personal invitations to the
others, and ask Miroku to perform the ceremony. He readily agreed, happy to
be dong such an important part in the wedding. By the time they had
completed this, it was almost sunset, and Kohaku had to help out with the
talismen binding. He hurried off to the gardens, placing a tiny kiss on
Nari cheek. She blushed and hesitantly put her hand up to her cheek
once he left.
Kohaku kissed me...... she thought, dazed. She seemed to be filled with
bubbly happiness, threatening to spill out. There was a spring in her
step all the way to her room.
Kohaku nearly arrived late. Kagome had already drawn the 8-pointed
star. Miroku was just begginning to pour purified salt around it. Kohaku
noticed that the elements were in a circular pattern, in the order they
were found. (A/N: What were would call clockwise today. Koga's candle
starts where the 12 would be, but since the star has only 8 points, well
you get the idea.) That couldn't just be conincidence. Looking to
Kagome for confirmation, she assured him that it had been intentional. She
figured that there must of been a reason for finding them in that order,
so that's how they had been put down. Kohaku placed his ring where it
belonged, then stood how he saw the others doing. when they were all
standing behind thier talisman, inside the stars point and facing the
talisman, Miroku began the spell. He started chanting, so softly that they
couldn't hear it at first, then it grew stronger and louder.
"Bind these objects,
Bind them quick,
Hold them fast,
So together they may stick."
(A/N: Bad poem I know, but it's my 1st poem in a fanfic! Gimmie a
break! ^_^)
At the end of each verse, Miroku would tap his stick on each object. He
repeated this procedure until he was bellowing the words. Several
things happened at once when he shouted the final word. The ground seemed to
shake inside the star. Kohaku and the group held their ground. A glow
seemed to be coming from their talismens. Koga's shone red, Kagome's
blue, Miroku's was just white. Inuyasha's shone a mix of brown and green,
while Kohaku's shone a pasty gray. Sango's seemed to shimmer, all sorts
of blues floating through it. Shippo's was brown, and Kagura's was even
whiter then Miroku's with occasional shadows passing by it. As the
group slowly watched, the lights took on some sort of form. Koga's looked
like a candle flame, Kagome had a water droplet, and Miroku's looked
like a twister. Inuyasha's became a ball that was shaped like a modern
globe. Kohaku's looked like a lump of iron ore, and Sangos' vaugely
resembled a fish. Shippo's morphed into a bison, and Kagura's seemed
to grow wings and a beak. Suddenly, the points of light seemed to
reach out, intersecting and connecting to the other talismen's. The
talismen's were enveloped in a peculier light. They were morphing. If you
looked closely, you could see that they were slowly becoming swords.
Everyone slumped, exhausted, too exhausted to notice that the talismen's had
changed a little. The spell had taken a lot of energy, and they were
wiped out. They barely managed to get to their respective rooms before
sleep claimed them.
The next morning was much better for them. They had notcied that their
talismens had changed into swords. The swords/talismens had a very
special handle. The handles bore the Japanese character for their elemet
they represented. In some cases, when the bearers represented animals,
the charater for animal was there as well. Each sword had the owners name
on the blade and it's own radience. The group was bouncy and full of
energy, more then they had ever felt before. They comapred swords at
breakfast, noticing that the swords were different colors, the colors of
the glow that they had seen from their talismen's last night. During
beakfast, the Miko informed them that they had to take lessons with the
swords starting right after breakfast. The group agreed.
After breakfast they all went down to the field, where clay pots had
been set up for them. they met their trainer, which turned out to be
Totosai. Inuyasha was shocked to see him, mostly because last time they had
seen Totosai it looked like the old geezer had been about to drop dead.
Totosai wasn't surprised to see Inuyasha, and launched right into the
lesson. First, they would learn about the swords. They learned that they
had been made by Totosai himslef, or rather, the talismen's had been.
They also found out that the swords had special properties. Koga's could
melt, then reshape as he wished it, and it could happen very fast.
Kagome's could break apart then reform. Miroku could become insubstantial,
or form into a posinous gas. Inuyasha's could crumble then return 10x
harder, and it could bend and get very far. Kohaku's was probably the
most interesting. His could elongate, shorten up, break aprat and attack,
then reform. It was just like working with molten metal. Sango
's sword was just like Kagome's, and Shippo's sword resembled
Inuyasha's, just like Kagura's resembled Mirokus. They all wanted to test the
swords powers, but Totosai said that they must have proper training
first, now unhappy that he ahd told them. They'd pester him for days.
First, they set about learning the basics. It could be swung like any sword,
in it's transformed state. They'd be able to transform them by will
evetually, but Totosai said that when they were ready he'd transform the
swords so that they could see what they looked like. They also ahve to
learn the attacks while the swords were transformed. It would take a
while before they could do so. The swords had to adjust to the willpower
of the wielder. No one even really minded Shif being a sword, now he
could communicate telepathically, and the swords could now as well. It
might be a degression for Shif, but he didn't mind. He felt that he had
been restored to his proper place, making Sango feel much better abo
ut turning him into a sword. The first week of training was jsut
learning about the swords, and Totosai told them that they'd learn about the
attacks the next day. everyone went to sleep, hoping that tomorrow came
soon.
