The next day, as promised, they started to learn the attacks. It was
hard, because Totosai wouldn't say the attack names, he just transformed
the swords for them and let them go at it. The swords, when
transformed, were truly a sight to see. (A/N: Person, then sword description, k?
Note: All swords glow the blades color.)
Koga- flame sword, the red, blue, and orange blade color flickers.
Handle like a gradual candle flame, very thin and narrow. Handle made out
of rubies.
Kagome- Sea colors sword. Color flickers on the blade, and the handle
is shaped like a thin and narrow teardrop. Handle is made out of
sapphires.
Miroku- Very hard glass sword. Handle made out of a large diamond.
Inuyasha- Brown colored sword. Handle made out of hematite- a large,
black, cold stone.
Kohaku- Gray sword. handle made out of metal, as is the blade.
Sango- Blade resembling Kagomes, but darker, and with small shadows on
the blade. Handle is a sapphire & a thin turtle shape.
Shippo- Very small blade, resembling Inuyasha's. Dark shadows on this
one as well. Handle is hematite and a thin lion shape.
Kagura- Like Mirokus' except handle is a bird shape, and some shadows
on the blade.
They all were the length and width of the Tetsusaiga, but with the
obvious differences mentioned above. They all spent time looking at their
blades, trying to figure out their attacks, when Nari had a brainstorm.
"Why don't you all meditate with the sword in your lap? My mother
always does this when thinking about how somethig works or is put
together............." Nari blushed, for now everyone was looking at her. Kohaku
just smiled to reassure her. She smiled back.
"Why don't we do that? Naraku always did that as well, for
less-then-pure reasons." Kagura added quietly. Miroku nodded, not in the least
surprised. He had often employed the art of meditation when he was thinking
about something.
"Then let's do it!" Kagome said happily. "My grandfather
always......... meditated as well.......... Oh my god! I haven't gone home for 3
months! My mom will be freaking out! Gakkkkk! Inuyasha, can I go home for
about a week? Everyone can come!" Kagome put her puppy-dog eyes on,
hoping to make Inuyasha give in. Surprisingly enough, he needed no urging.
"Fine. Does everyone want to come?" Inuyasha asked. The response was
immediate. Everyone was nodding before he finished the question.
"I want to see more of your woman's world, dog-turd!" Koga said, but
with less bite behind the insult then normal. Part of it was Kagura's
influence, and part of it was the fact that the wolf youkai and the dog
youkai were slowly becoming friends.
"World?" Nari was a little confused. She had seen great treasures from
Kagome's enormous backpack, and the strange dress she wore, but she
didn't think that she was from another world!
" Oh, time." Kagome corrected casually. "I'm from about 500 years in
the future." Nari looked stunned, and after an announcement like that,
who could blame her? No one had given her any indication that Kagome had
been from another time!
"Would you like to come with?" Kohaku asked softly. Nari nodded, taking
his hand in hers and squeezing softly. He squeezed back.
"I would advise that you take a break." Totosai said. "It will do you a
world of good. You've been studying a bit more then necessary. a week
off would be okay. I need to take a small sabbatical myself. let's meet
back here in exactly a week. Goodbye." Totosai hopped onto his cow
demon, which had appeared magically during his talk. The group stared after
him.
"Wel.... now we have no chice. Let's go now." Inuyasha said,
transforming into his demon form, and running ahead. It took about a moment, but
then everyone followed, Kagura stopping to pick up Nari.
Eventually, they arrived at the Bone-Eaters Well. Inuyasha jumped down
it, holding Miroku and Sango. Shippo rode on his head. Kagome jumped
down next. She carried Kohaku and Nari. Inuyasha returned, and grabbed
Koga and Kagura. Once all the group was there, they entered the house.
they first youkai who entered (none had bothered to detransform) they
were hit with little scraps of paper with squiggles on them. Koga peeled
his off, sniffed it, they heard the little man screaming "Begone demons!
My spiritual powers shall disintegrate you! Begone!" Koga calmly
assessed the man, who was throwing more paper scarps at them and muttering to
himself "How can these youkai resist my powers?" Koga was about to
attack when he heard Kagome yell:
"GRANDPA! STOP THAT THIS INSTANT! THESE YOUKAI ARE MY FRIENDS!" Kagome
never had the heart to tell him that he never had any spiritual power.
"What-? Kagome? Oh, it's you!" Kagome's grandpa ran up to her and
hugged her, apparently not noticing her ears and claws. She pushed him back,
claiming that he was embarrassing her. Her grandpa looked at her
closely, then exclaimed:
"Kagome! You're a youkai!" Her grandpa looked shocked at this. "How?"
"Because I wished for it on the Jewel! We've completed our mission!
I've come back home for a while, and to show my friends around the
town!"Kagome exclaimed. "And we all have human forms, so we won't attract
attention! Can we use some money so I can get them proper clothes?"
"What's wrong with our clothes?" Inuyasha asked.
"You won't fit in. Change to human form, then we'll leave." Kagome said
as soon as she saw her grandfather nod and reach for his wallet.
"Kagome! Have you seen that new art museum? It's supposed to feature
pieces from the Sengoku Jaidi! We went to see it, but they have a new
exhibit up now!" Souta ran up to his sister and hugged her, then noticed
that she was a youkai. No one had had time to morph back.
"What is going on here?" Kagome's mother asked, coming up behind Souta.
Kagome gave her mother the short version of events of all that had
happened since she had passed through the well 3 months ago. Her mom simply
nodded when she finished.
"Well, then buy your friends some nice clothes and go to that museum.
It's on Tokyo Blv., a little bit away from your school. You'll be able
to find it." Kagome nodded and headed out the door with her friends &
the money for the trip as soon as everyone had morphed human. They were
haeded to the mall.
