InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 15 ( Chapter 15 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
When they got to the mall, they were receiving many odd stares. It got
worse when they bought normal clothes for everyone. They were followed
everywhere they went, and some braver girls and boys wrote their phone
numbers on napkins from the food court and handed them to the group. It
was embarrassing to say the least! It wasn't long before they were
stalked by some popular girls and boys from Kagome's school. They had all
been absent the day that Naraku died, so they didn't know about Kagome's
friends. They came right up to them and started asking them out on
dates. everyone was asked out except for Kagome, who the popular people
knew and ignored. The most popular girls had their sights set on Inuyasha.
One was chewing bubble gum, and she was the 1 person who was most
likely to become prom queen. She was leaning on Inuyashas shoulder and
running her fingers through his hair. Inuayasha was frozen from the shock.
The little human wench was touching him! He tried to escape from
her grasp, but her couldn't, unless he was willing to sacrifice a
portion of his beautiful black locks..........
Kagome looked around, checking for other shoppers and security cameras.
She saw some girls who looked like they might be ready to make a play
for the men, and guys who were willing to go for the girls. Kagome was
pissed. it was obvious that Inuyasha was trying to get away, and she
might of been content to let him try had she not heard what the girl said
next:
"Why don't you come with me? Leave that Higashi or whatever girl
behind?" the girl smiled invitingly, and Kagome winced at the botched sound
of her name, then the popular girls words sunk in. She was furious.
"Uh- no-no thank you- but..." Inuyasha tried speaking, not wanting to
hurt the girl or reveal what he was, so he looked to Kagome for help.
Kagome had an idea hit her like a bolt of lightening. What if.........?
Kagome smiled. It was a truly chilling, evil smile, full of mischief.
"Oh, Meghan?" Kagome called, for that was the popular girls name.
"What, dweeb?" Meghan said, her voice full of venom. Thgis stupid,
unpopular girl was going to let him slip away from her!
Kagome just smiled again, then began to transform into her youkai form.
"Still want to chase my man?"
Meghan looked shocked for a moment, and the rest of her group did a
double-take at that.
"Yes!" Meghan said fiercely. "He's MY man now, and he'll protect me,
won't you?" Meghan asked turning to Inuyasha, but, taking his cue from
Kagome, had also transformed into a youkai.
"No way in the seven hells." Inuyasha said confidently, going up to
stand by Kagome and grabbing her around her waist. Kagome smiled again.
The popular people turned to face their new crushes, who had all
transformed into youkai, save Nari. Nari, who had been holding Shippo, was
engulfed in foxfire, and it gave her the appearance of someone who had
caught fire. Everyone thought that she was some type of fire demon, save
the normal group of course. The popular people began to realize the
disadvantage that they were at, their positions were like hemmed in cows,
with the youkai as the fence. They were freaked out. The good news was
that the other fans of the group had dissappeared as soon as they saw
them morph. The popular kids had no such luck.
"What?" Meghan said. "Ohmigod, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna
die......" Meghan looked petrified. running your fingers through a cute
guys hair then having him turn into a youkai will do that to you.
"Shut up wench." Inuyasha grumbled. She shut up.
"What do you want with us?" one of the braver boys asked.
"Leave us alone, and don't come by us again. Keep your noses clean, and
forget all of this. I'd settle for that." kagome said, shooting a glare
in their direction, but saving a particularly venomous one for Meghan.
"O-Okay." Meghan seemed defeated. She looked down at the ground, drying
her tears. She had been so scared.
When she looked up again, they were gone.
They were on the way to the museum barely five minutes when they burst
out laughing.
"Did you see their faces?" Koga asked.
"Priceless!" Kagome said.
"I shall never forget that moment as long as I live!" Miroku exclaimed.
They gave into fits of laughter and that sustained them until they got
to the museum. The building itself was impressive. It used to be a
stone marble capitol building, and parts were crumbling, but it was
impressive nonetheless. There were two oxidated copper lions at the front,
both a must for any art museum. One wing of the place had clearly been
under construction until recently. It had that harsh newness of an old
building with something new added. It was a beautiful building. It also
had a dome on the top, beautiful and made out of a fragile looking
stained glass. It was purple and blue and red, a gorgeous mix of all three,
changing and mixing like a rainbow. It had none of the usual forboding
of old buildings, it was just like a welcoming aunt, or a cup of hot
coca after a hard winter day's work. Kagome had no problem ascending the
steps. They went up to the ticket counter, where an elderly man ask
ed for 200 yen each for entry. (A/N: I'm guessing $2.00 for each
ticket? i don't know how to translate yen from dollars!) Kagome paid the
man, and still ahd a little left over, which she was grateful for. They
were fortunate to arrive a few minutes before 12:00. Another tour would
be starting soon, and they decided to go along with it. It would be
enlightening, not only in ways that they thought, but in ways unexpected
for them.
The tour started innocently enough. they had been touring normal
paintings, such as 'Sakura' (Cherry blossom) 'Toya' (Peach blossom) and many
others. There were even some paintings by American and European
paintings. The boys were a little bored by this, but they feigned interest to
keep the girls from crying that they hated it. Their tour was almost at
and end, when the guide made an announcement.
"Now, we shall tour the fedual paintings area, the legend part. this is
a special treat, no one has seen these before. You are the first
group!" Everyone beamed, including the group, tickled pink to be the first to
see the extraordinary paintings.
"We shall be viewing the paintings such as 'The Slaying of the Demon',
'The 8 Gods', and others. they are all by a mysterious painter, known
only as Menra. (A/N; Notice anything about the letters?) I hope you will
enjoy this part of the tour." They started walking over to where the
new wing was. It was obviously unfinished, but it was great to be able to
see the paintings. In the exhibit, they even tried to replicate the
Sengoku Jaidi's feeling of peace. Plants grew in pots on the floor, and
now and the you could hear running water- simulated, of course. Some of
the paintings were definatly not from the Sengoku Jaidi. They were just
unbelieveable. eventually, Kagome noticed that some paintings were
spaced far apart, as if another painting would go there, but it had been
moved. So far, the hadn't run into any paintings by Menra. When Kagome
asked about this, the guide said that he had wanted to save the best for
last. All of Menra's paintings were of one particular subject, so
it had been easy to group them. They stopped for a bathroom break
before visiting the supposedly spectacular exhibit. And spectacular it
was, and most of the paintings were eerily close to what Kagome had seen
during her stays there. A few paintings made her heart stop though. They
were the Menra paintings. Other painters had also depicted the 8 Gods.
It was an old legend, or so Kagome was told, but she had never heard it
for herself. They got to the Menra part of the exhibit, and the group
gasped.
This can't be happening...... Kagome thought. The paintings that she
was shocked by had the titles:
~Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
~Dark Intentions
~The Slaying of the Demon
~Wish
~The 8 Gods
~Meet The Monk
~Enter Slayer
~All The Group
~Take Nothing That Doesn't Belong to You
Kagome was truly frightened by these scenes. Depicted in them could be
the story of her life. 'Let Sleeping Dogs Lie' was a picture of
Inuyasha, stuck on the tree. 'Dark Intentions' held a picture of Kikyo
dragging Inuyasha down to Hell with her, and 'The Slaying of the Demon' was a
picture of the bloody battleground after they had defeated
Naraku.'Wish' was a picture of them wishing on the Shikon Jewel. 'The 8 Gods' was a
portrait of the entire group, all in demon forms, holding their swords
out in a salute. 'Meet the Monk' showed Miroku groping Kagome for the
first time, and 'Enter Slayer' was a picture of Sango and Kirara
attacking what the group was back then, without so many members. 'All The
Group' was, well what else? All the group! Lastly, the painting 'Take
Nothing That Doesn't Belong to You' depicted Koga trying to escape with
Kagome. The group's jaws dropped. Luckily, they hadn't been noticed by many
people in the tour group, so no one made the connection between t
he teenagers and the 'Gods' in the paintings.
"Ummmmm...... Sir?" Kagome asked. Every head turned to stare at her,
but she had her head down. "Could you tell me the story of The 8 Gods?"
The guide responded with a yes. He began his tale.
"Once, a while ago, if the legends are to be believed............" The
guide started, the group hanging on to his every word.
