InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 18 ( Chapter 18 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
That night, Kagome and Inuyasha crept out of the house, careful not to
disturb the sleeping reporters. They had only a few more feet to
go........
A reporter shifted in his sleep. Kagome froze, certain that they had
woken him. Eventually, he settled back down and was deeply asleep again.
Kagome and Inyasha proceeded cautiously. They tiptoed past reporters,
shuccffled past cameramen, and at last they were out. The pair took to
the rooftops, carefully making their way to a small house. They quietly
landed on the roof of the small house, the houses dark roof masking
their appearance. They quietly stole down to the second floor window,
which faced away from the street, they snuck in, and clung to the walls as
closely as their youkai bodies would allow. The room, painted a dark
purple, hid them from sight. the room's occupant stirred in her sleep,
her light blonde hair falling gently across her eyes. Meghan was deeply
asleep. Inuyasha shook her awake.
"Meghan, wake up." She groggily opened her eyes. When she saw who had
shaken her awake, her eyes went wide. "Not a sound." He warned her. Her
eyes, if possible, went wider, but she never uttered a so much as a
solitary squeak. Inuyasha asked her if she'd like to go with him for a
while. Meghan nodded. (How dumb can you get?) Inuyasha picked her up and
started jumping over the rooftops. He started a discusion with her.
"That wasn't a very nice thing that you did." he said softly, then
dropped her. Before she hit, Kagome caught her.
"We don't appreciate it." Kagome said, eyes smoldering, but voice cool.
Meghan had been frozen with the shock of being dropped, but that soon
stopped, and she found her voice again.
"Well, the world had a right to know!" Meghan said, her eyes blanker
then a new chalkboard. She obviously had no conviction behind what she
was saying. "It took me a while to convince the newspaper too. You should
be grateful!" Kagome almost snorted.
"Grateful? For what?" Inuyasha asked, the skepticisim lathered on
thick.
"For introducing you to the world! You can be superstars now! And I
paved the way! You should thank me!" It never had occured to Meghan that
maybe people didn't always want to be in the spotlight.
"Can you retract that article? Say it was a hoax?" Kagome asked.
"Why would I do that?" Meghan still didn't get it.
"Because we don't want to be in the spotlight!" Inuyasha cried out,
exasperated.
"Why don't you?"
"Because, we just don't. Retract the article. Tomorrow. No excuses, or
we'll be visiting again." Kagome said. They deposited Meghan at her
house, then went back to Kagome's home. They went to sleep satisfied.
The next morning, they woke up, expecting to newspapers to apologize.
They weren't disappointed. The newspaper had a retraction on the very
front page. Kagoem smiled in satisfaction. Operation Retraction had been
a huge success. Kagome was happy. They had about another 4 days until
they had to be back in the Sengoku Jaidi. During that time, Kagoem
traeted her friends to all the pleasures of her time, which included
Oberweiss Dairy ice cream, cookies, and beaches. They had a grand old time.
They were sorry to leave when they finally had to. They had gotten little
meditating over the swords done. They jumped through the well, and ran
off to meet Totosai. they arrived at the Miko's house just as lunch was
being set up. They ate, they ran to the courtyard to meet Totosai. He
was waiting for them.
"Good. You've returned." Totosai commented.
"What? Did you think that we weren't going to?" Kohaku asked.
"No, but you might not have returned on time."
"What are we going to do today Totosai?" Sango asked, curious.
"Meditate on your swords. Do it. Now." Totosai stopped speaking after
that, leaving them to their own thoughts. they all sat down in the
standard meditating position, swords in their laps. they meditated for a
while on trivial things, then seemed to fall into a trance-like state.
They all awoke at dinnertime, a little closer to unraveling their swords
secrets. They all planned on meditating after dinner, though no one said
anything. After their meal, they all went to their private rooms. They
concentrated hard on their swords. Eventually, all the meditating
exhausted them. They fell asleep in their meditating positions.
The next morning, they woke up, each remembering a dream that they had
had. They had dreamed about their swords, and the attacks. They saw
them in their minds eye, now all they had to do was learn how to master
them, and tap into the psychic energy that was sleeping in their brains.
Once done, they could take on their enemy.
"Hello Totosai!" Kagome called out cheerfully, havng just finished a
good breakfast.
"Good morning Kagome, everyone." Totosai responded, seeing the others
come up behind her. "Are you ready to work on your swords?"
"Of course." Inuyasha said. One by one, they all brought their swords
up to Totosai so they could be transformed. They all recieved their
swords back and began practicing. They took turns aiming at a target- in
this case, a clay pot- but no one hit it. They tried, but tehir attacks
were so new. Listed below- in order that they aimed at the target- are
their attacks.
Koga- Crimson Wolf Flame- flame the shape of a large wolf attacks
opponent.
Kagome- Miko's Tears- water droplets hurl themselves at opponent. Drops
are filled with miko power.
Miroku- Space Vaccum Obliteration- a miniture black hole forms at the
end of sword, held up for a minute at most.
Inuyasha- Earth Acopolyse- Dirt & mud surround enemy- cutting into foe
if desired.
Kohaku-(A/N: Super special attack. can still do stuff mentioned earlier
in fic, just uses mental power to do so.) Metal Chain Snake- Sword
forms a whip, whibh Kohaku can control by thought alone. Can hit hard
enough to draw blood, or lightly wrap around something.
Sango- Song of the Sea- attacks with a high pitched keening sound.
Dangerous to foes, but can't hurt friends, or potential friends. Useful to
find allies in a crowd. Level of danger determind on Sango's thoughts.
Enough to make ears bleed, or small enough to irritate people only. Can
drive a foe insane, or make them go blind and deaf.
Shippo- Land Stampede- Illusion. Makes the foe think that numerous
animals are attacking, leaving him/her unable to see the group in the
stampede.
Kagura- Birds of Vengence- has pale white birds from Kagura's sword
attack foe, drawing blood everywhere they touch.
Combined attack- 8-Point Star Shower- they have to be in and 8-pointed
start shape, in order that their talismens were bound together. A white
light comes out, connecting them to one another, and then it collects
in the middle, shoots up, then rains down in the shape of stars. All the
stars are different colors, the color of the swords, and the ones with
the colors of a particular sword- Inuyasha's, for example, would be
brown and green stars with the power of Earth- and the stars would just
hurt their foe, not them.
Totosai was very pleased that his pupils had finally gotten their
attacks right, but didn't like it when some of the attacks went awry and
nearly got him. By the end of practice he was bloddy, burned, muddy, and
very wet.
"Enough for one day. Meet back here tomorrow after breakfast, we'll
practice controlling our attacks then." They all nodded. They were also
exhausted. They were practically asleep by the time they got to their
rooms.
The next morning was horrible. they hadn't managed to get a handle on
their attacks, so Totosai thought that he might try a new battle
strategy.
Oh yes....... he thought to himself gleefully. This will work. How to
raise that though? Hmmmm.......
He thought for hours. Entire schools of thought could be found in his
mind. He was extremely tired when he hit upon the solution.
"Aha!" He said out loud. "That will work! It worked for me, why not
them? Thank you Hiberneious!" He said, thanking his old teacher who had
taught him how to raise his mental powers.
Now, to apply it to them..........
