InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 20 ( Chapter 20 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
The wedding was to be held the next day. Everyone was running around.
The cook's were preparing the feast, and our very own hentai- I mean
houshi was preparing the ceremony. Nari and Kohaku were already in wedding
dress, and Nari's hair was tied up in an elegant knot, but everyone
else was still preparing. Kagome insisted that Nari wore something,
something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Nari even had to stick
a small coin in her shoe!
"Are you ready?" Sango asked Nari. Nari just nodded, her smile so wide
that it seemed to large for her face. Miroku and Kohaku were already in
position, and Nari started the long walk down the aisle, trailing after
Sango, Kagura, and Kagome, her bridesmaids. Her motehr was the matron
of honor. Surprisingly enough, Inuyasha was the best man. Kohaku had
chosen Inuyasha supposedly because Inuyasha had inspired him to tell Nari
about his feelings. the group had been surprised at the announcement,
but they had agreed. Nari shook herself free of her thoughts and stood
beside Kohaku. Miroku took what seemed like a golden rope- and it
actually was gold- and put it by their wrists. Kohaku's face cone=centrated
for a moment, and in that moment, the rope tied itself around their
wrists.
"Nari and Kohaku, may this rope bind your lives together forever. With
consent from both fo you, I shall continue. If anyone besides these two
also has to speak a against this, speak now or don't ever." Miroku
started. No one spoke.
"Nari, will you stick with Kohaku as long as you both will live? Rest
assured that he shall protect you, as is a husband's duty, and will keep
you in health and food. Do you accept him?" Nari nodded, surprised by
the words. they were altered from what she normally heard. Later, she
would learn that they were a meld of youkai, hanyou, human, and future
customs.
"Kohaku, will you stick with Nari as long as you draw breath? Rest
assured that she will prepare food, keep the home warm, and keep the house
clean, and nurse you in sickness. Do you accept her?" Kohaku nodded,
then Miroku said something taht was purely futuristic. "By the power
vested in me as the monk of the 8 Gods, I pronounce you husband and wife.
You may now kiss the bride." Koahku kissed Nari, and she kissed him
back. It was all very romantic. Something was slightly different. A light
seemed to pass from Kohaku to Nari, and then Nari looked slightly
changed. No one seemed to notice it but Naris mother, Totosai, and the rtest
of the group. Nari and Kohaku didn't seem to realize what they were
doing. That was when Myoga jumped in.
"This is new." Myoga commented.
"How long have you been there?" Inuyasha sked, squasjhing the flea. "I
haven't seen you in months old bug. Did you think we were killed by the
Miko Tsubuki?" Myoga gulped audibly, wincing.
"Well, LOrd Inuyasha, it was logical to assume....... I mean
that.........." Myohg had a hard time knowing what to say. Inuyasha spared him
teh embarrassment of having to explain himself.
"Anyway flea, what just happened?"
"It seems that Kohaku has transferred some of his energy to Nari, so
she is no longer technically a human, or a half-breed, or a youkai. She
seems much like yourself, only weaker. I have never had a chance to
study this before, this being the first of it's kind. A human/ youkai/
hanyou marrying a human! This should be interesting."
"And what exactly does that mean, old bug?" Inuyasha asked acidly.
"*GULP* It means that, in time, Nari will become exactly like
yourselves." Myoga explained. "You know that when a youkai takes a human wife or
husband, they transfer power, so that the human isn't killed as easily.
Not many do it anymore, they like their wives or husbands the way they
are. Kohaku may not realize what he is doing, nor will Nari, and they
will both eb tired for a few days, so go easy on them. You won't be able
to see the full results of this until the next full moon, because that
is when her transformation will be complete. It's a rather interesting
process."
"Okay, so Nari will be just like us? That's so cool! So anyone our kids
marry will become like us?" Kagura asked. Myoga nodded.
"Wait a minute, isn't the next full moon next week?" Kagome asked.
"Wouldn't it take longer?"
"Oh no. It's always the next full moon. Sometimes the next full moon
would be in a month from the marriage of a youkai and a human, and they
have to wait the month out. Sometimes it's even the next day, or that
night. Sometimes, if the wedding is held at night, the change is
immediate." Myoga explained. "Nari will also gain some youkai powers during
this time. At the full moon, have her stand outside for a while, and have
her change into all her different forms. This will help her, knowing
all of her forms, trust me."
"Will Nari turn into the same type of youkai as Kohaku?" Koga asked.
"Possibly, but not likely. She'll turn into whatever type of youkai she
would have been born as, if she hadn't been born human." Myoga said.
Myoga jumped over to Kohaku, apparently to congratulate him, which Myoga
did after being hit for drinking Kohakus blood.
"Congratulations!" Kagome exclaimed when she saw Nari and Kohaku come
over to them. "I'm so happy for you!"
"It's great, can we eat?" Inuyasha asked. Kagome hit him lightly on the
head. "Ow! What was that for!?"
"Being insensitive!" Kagome yelled. "How can you talk about food now!
Kohaku and Nari just got married! Why do you always-" Kagome was cut off
by her stomach rumbling loudly. She colored, and everyone laughed.
"well, maybe I am a little hungry as well...." she whispered quietly. The
group made their way to the banquet hall.
"Wow!" Shippo exclaimed upon seeing the magnificent feast laid out for
the group. "It's huge!" Similar sentiments were heard from the rest of
the group. There were tons of food dishes, made to appeal to the eyes
as well as the nose. The dishes themselves were porcelin and gold,
baeutiful desinged as well. The food was shaped into forms. There were sword
shapes, swans, towers, a horse, a samurai, and many more. The food was
almost too beautiful to be eaten, but eventually the groups stomachs
got the better of them. By the time they finished, not a crumb was left.
"Mmmmmmmmmm, that was good." Koga said, slapping at Myoga when he came
to bite Koga. Kagome pulled Inuyasha aside to speak with him.
"Should we tell Kohaku and Nari? About the transforming thing?"
"No. It wouldn't do those whelps any good. We'll tell Nari about it on
the full moon." Inuyasha said. He was right too. What if Nari wanted it
undone, and they knew that Kohaku couldn't undo it. It would just make
them miserable if they didn't want it to happen.
"Okay." Kagome said. Arm-in-arm, the couple walked back to the table,
silently preparing for the full moon, which would be next week. It
seemed so far off, but it was less then 7 days away. they'd need all of the
people skills Kagome had and some of Inuyasha's bluntness to be able to
tell Nari. Now all that was left to do was wait.
A/N: How will Nari react when she finds out what she's turning into?
