InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 21 ( Chapter 21 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
It was the next full moon, a week after the wedding of Nari and Kohaku.
During the week, Nari had shown some odd behavior. She had been
sniffing at things to find out who had touched them, and not finding this odd
in the least! It was either a curse or a blessing that Nari hadn't
figured it out yet, or Kohaku. The night of the full moon, Kagome and
Inuyasha took Nari outside, claiming they wanted to speak with her, which
was true.
"Nari? We have to tell you something." Kagome started off, once they
were outside.
"What?" Nari asked, curious.
"It has to do with you and Kohaku." Inuyasha said.
"What?" nari asked, a little worried. What if he didn't love her
anymore, and he had told everyone but her?
"Well........ you know how you guys kissed at your wedding? That was a
little bit more then a kiss........." Kagome said, trying to break it
to her gentlely.
"What was-?" Nari started off.
"-It? A transfer of power." Inuyasha finished, and answered the
question.
"What? What's a transfer of power? You can't mean-..............?"
"Yes." Kagome said quietly. "You're just like us now. Kohaku didn't
realize what he was doing........ there is also no way to reverse it." To
Kagome's and Inuyasha's great surprise Nari laughed.
"Well, that solves my problem! Now that I'm just like you, we'll be
able to travel together! But........ why did you wait until now to tell
me? The wedding was a week ago.............."
"Well........" Kagome searched for a way to explain.
"Because you can use your powers as of tonight. All you have to do is
stand in direct moonlight. There's a patch over there. Go ahead."
Inuyasha said bluntly, like always. For a moment, Nari was speechless, but
eventually she moved over to the moonlight and transformed. First, she
transformed into her youkai form, which was a bird type demon. The demon
form was like a falcon, wings sprouting just above her shoulder ridges,
enormous wings that could support 10 people of Nari's weight. Her eyes
were the smae brillient gold-green, and the feather patterns looked
lovely on her skin. She looked mostly human, but her nails were claws,
sharp as any falcons talons. She had no beak, and she looked a little like
an angel. Her hanyou form was interesting, her wings slightly smaller
and her nails not as sharp. later, they would learn that she could fly
as fast as Koga could run, and she was extremely powerful in this form.
She could send something akin to wind blades at her opponents, but with her, they were called "the Bite of the Wind." Her nails were so
sharp, they could slice rock. Her eyes and hearing rivialed the
greatest eagles, and she could fly for ages without stopping, like a goose,
but she was 10x more powerful then any goose.
"Wow." Was all the three could say.
"T-This is so.......... amazing." Nari said, glancing at her new body.
"I'll be more helpful in fights!" She seemed genuinely happy, and
Kagome was glad for her.
"What will your mom say?" Inuyasha asked.
"Oh." Nari's face fell for a moment, but then she brightened again.
"She'll just have to accept it! After all, I can't undo this." Kagome
nodded, and Inuyasha did as well. They were glad that Nari was taking it so
well. Silently, they all walked back inot the house, Nari in youkai
form.
The first person they saw when they got in happened to be none other
then Kohaku. He was surprised at first, but as they told their tale, he
accepted it, and was just as heppy as Nari in the end. They hurried off
to show the others. They showed no signs of surprise, they had already
known that Nari would transform into a youkai, but they congratulated
her. Myoga, of course, offered no congrats, but tried to suck her blood.
He was slapped before he succeeded.
"This is wonderful Nari!" Sango exclaimed.
"Definitly." Kagura agreed. Koga nodded.
"How will we tell Mother?" Nari asked.
"Don't worry, I already know." The Miko appeared from behind the door.
"I heard all about this." Nari looked a little apprehensive, unsure
what her mom would say. The Miko went right up to her and hugged her. "I'm
so proud of you honey, you followed your heart, not your lessons." The
Miko then looked directly at Kohaku. "You keep her happy, hear?" Kohaku
nodded, smiling. The Miko stood up, and turned to go, then turned back.
"Lessons with Totosai start again tomorrow. You have exactly five weeks
before you must start traveling. The place is a long way off." With
those parting words, the Miko left, leaving them to dwell on her words.
And dwell they did. They each got about one hour of sleep, and then they
had breakfast, leaving early so they could learn more from Totosai.
"Nice to see you again. Today, we'll be learning about the attacks.
Focus on narrowing the beam. Lastly, we'll try your ultimate attack whose
name I'll give you. It's called the 8-Point Star Shower. Don't try it
yet." All day they practiced on their attcaks, getting better at aiming
and increasingly tired. Working physical attacks and mental control
simotaniously will do that to you. Finally, as the sun was beginninbg to
set, Totosai told them that it was time to begin the 8-Point Star
Shower. He told them to arrange in the 8-point star that everyone was
becoming quickely associated with. He told them to clear tehir minds, and yell
out simotaniously the attack name. To do it at the exact smae time,
they'd have to establish mental control and stay in contact mentally with
one another. This was harder to do then it sounded. Finally, after
about 20 minutes of struggling, they made contact. They could sort of speak
to each other.
"Ready?" Koga asked in their minds. They all answered to the
affirmitive. "One.... two..... three."
"8-POINT STAR SHOWER!" they all exploded at once. Instantly, stars fell
from the sky. The ones by where Koga was shown a red color, and by
Kagome, blue. Each persons stars were the color of their sword. They all
realized what to do once they saw the stars falling, so they ordered them
mentally to move towards the clay pot at which they were aiming.
Needless to say, the pot was obliterated. They all were so exhausted, they
almost didn't hear Totosai exclaiming taht that was wonderful for a first
attempt, and that they'd be working on speaking in the others minds
tomorrow. They all crawled back to their rooms and fell deeply asleep, not
waking until breakfasttime the next morning.
"Glad to see everyone up and about again." the Miko commented dryly as
the group sleepily made their way to the breakfast table. They all
mumbled responses.
"Well, sleepy or not, you must work with Totosai today. Chop, chop!"
the Miko exclaimed cheerfully, helping herself to some of the delicious
food that was served for breakfast. Everyoen grumbled, except for
Kagome, she was too good-natured. They all finished breakfast, starting to
get some of their old energy back. They managed to drag themselves to the
gardens, where Totosai told them that they'd be practicing mantal
connections. Totosai greeted them at the enterance.
"Hello. Today, I'll hide you all in the rose maze. You'll have to make
mental connections to be able to get out. If you haven't contacted each
other, there will be no point to this exercise, and you'll fail. If no
one is out in 3 hours, I'll look for you. Are you ready?" Totosai
asked, a rare smile on his face. They nodded. One by one, Totosai de[osited
them in different parts of the maze, with no other living person in
sight. It was official. They were alone.
A/N: Wow! Thankx for all of the reviews! Keep it up, and I'll post
another chappie!
