InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 35 ( Chapter 35 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
"We have to hurry!" Kohaku yelled. They were almost at the summit, and it was in teh afternoon already.
"Okay, but don't wear yourself out!" Miroku cautioned. He was tiring more quickly then the others. 'Probably because I gave Sango most of my energy.......' he mused.
"Miroku?" Shippo asked. "Are you okay?" Miroku gave a start. He hadn't noticed the kit sneaking up on him. He patted the kids head.
"I'm fine Shippo." They were at the summit. Miroku picked up Shippo and set him on the ground. He glanced around. It was a well placed battlefield. There were few stones to hide behind, and most of it was ice and snow. Miroku tested the ground with his feet. It provided little traction.
"Let's get ready." Kagura said. She glanced around, waiting for Rysuki to appear. "He should be here somewhere........"
"And here I am. Pathetic weaklings....." Rysuki said, appearing suddenly, out of thin air. "To be undone by my little dolls......... I expected better of you."
"How dare you!" Kagome shouted. "You...... you made those dolls to look like us!"
"So? You should have killed whatever was threatening you. So what if the doll you faced was Inuyasha?" Rysuki shook his head pityingly. "Love stopped you? Something like that? I cannot believe it. Candidates for godhood are still restrained by suck weak and pathetic emotions like love? Let me guess, you trust your group members too? Such weak minds........." Rysuki shook his head again.
"They're not weak!" Nari shouted from her place beside Kohaku. She was gripping his hand rather tightly. Kohaku didn't mind. "If they are, then so am I. I stand with them. I stand with Kohaku."
"You don't have to, you know." Rysuki said. "Do you want to rule with me? Think of it! Every youkai would live in fear of your purification powers, and every human and hanyou like that trash you let lead you....." Rysuki spat at Inuyasha's feet. "Would quake in fear at my name! Do you still follow such weaklings?"
"Yes. Perhaps you didn't hear me correctly." Nari stepped to Rysuki, and then slapped him hard across the face. "I-Stand-With-Them." She resumed her place beside Kohaku. Rysuki felt the rising welt on his face. That had hurt.
"Well then, you'll just have to die with them as well, burned amongst the filth....." Rysuki attacked Nari with atentacle, but Kohaku cut it into bits as soon as the tentecle neared Nari. The battle had begun.
Rysuki immediantly attacked those closest to him- Kagome, Inuyasha, and Shippo. They kept dodging, not even having time to draw their swords. Miroku held some ofuda ready, and struck any tentecle that got too close to someone. Rysuki was throughly unconcerned about the attacks, and the tentecles kept reforming and coming. They were exhausted and bleeding, from wounds delt by tentecles that they had missed and their earlier battles. Inuyasha and Kagome were cutting tentecles away from themselves with their claws. Kagome was protecting both herself and Shippo, but Shippo occasionally got a tentecle with kitsunebi. He didn't notice a stray tentecle sneaking up behind him. At least, he didn't notice until it hit him, knocking him to the back of Rysuki. He nearly slid off teh edge, just barely managing to hang on.
"Shippo!" Kagome yelled. She tried running around to help Shippo up, but another tentecle blocked her path. Then another. Another. She was almost enclosed in them. Kagoem couldn't cut them fast enought. She was finally able to get out, but on the wrong side. Shippo was dangling precariously from the ledge, and Rysuki's appendages were blocking her from getting there. Rysuki had closed her off from getting to Shippo on the left, and the trees on the right. It was her, Kohaku, Nari, and Inuyasha against Rysuki. Kagura and Koga had taken another path, and they were just beyond the trees. Shippo was just beyond her reach. Kagome felt so frustrated........
"Shippo!" Kagome called again.
*Kagura/Koga*
"Kagura, sneak behind him while he attacks us. He'll probably start attcaking me soon, he doesn't want us to go on the offensive. See if you can cut him." Kagura nodded. She watched calmly as the others were being attacked and quietly slipped behind him. He didn't seem to notice.
'So far, so good...... just a little farther, and I'll be able to hit him.... hard.' Kagura grinned at the thought. She was almost directly behind him........ 'Just a little farther......'
"Birds of Vengence!" Kagura cried, shooting the birds at Rysuki. He calmly turned around, not the least bit upset about the white birds that were drawing his blood.
"Not a very wise move Kagura......" Rysuki said softly. Before she could blink, he had a tentecle pointed right at her chest. "I don't suppose that you'd join me?" She spat on the offending appendage.
"I'd rather die!" Kagura said.
"That..... now that can be arranged." Rysuki thrust the spear-like limb through Kagura. She looked surprised.
'I......I didn't think........ that he'd do it.......' Kagura looked at the tentecle protruding from her chest. It was gone. Kagura blinked, but all she saw was blood gushing from a huge hole in her chest. She put her hands to either side of the wound- on her back and chest. It didn't help. She dropped to her knees as the light went out of her eyes. Kagura couldn't feel anything........ Blackness was consuming her vision...... she....... her heart was going slower.......... stopping....... She fell to the ground. The last thing she heard in the world was a horrible laugh. A horrible laugh and someone calling her name...... who was that?
'Koga......' she thought, and breathed her last.
*Koga*
'No....... Kagura.......' Koga was frozen form shock. 'No...... this can't be happening.... she...... she's not......'
"Kagura!" Koga yelled despretly. 'Give me a sign........ any sign........ Kagura...... you can't be.......... you're not......?!'
"Dead. Your turn now, dear wolf" Rysuki said, kicking Kagura's still body. "Wouldn't you like to join your dear witch? She was difient to the last...... " Rysuki chuckled. "Didn't help the bitch much though, did it?" Koga's eyes snapped up.
"What did you just call her?!" Koga demanded. That one word....... it had cut through his grief-wracked brain and hit home. He had kicked her body....... he wouldn't die quickly.
"Bitch. Need me to spell it out for you? Slow little wolf, sending his little protectress into battle while he watches. Tch...... what she saw in you........."
"You'll regret that!" Koga yelled, running at Rysuki again and again in a blind rage. He actually managed to cause pain, through lots of scratches. He ripped through, right to Kagome and the others.
"What happened?" Miroku asked.
"Kagura.... she.... shes's........" The color drained form his friends faces as they realized what he couldn't say. Saying it would make it seem real. Kagoem dropped her head in sorrow.
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news. "Inuyasha said. "But we have company. We have to mourn later." Everyone nodded.
"Do you dream that you could beat me?" Rysuki sneered. "Your little wolf there might do a bit of scratching, but I am not seriously hurting. Look at you! One dead, one mortally wounded, and one hanging off the edge of a cliff. All of you will soon be mortally wounded as well. Must you persist? The sun is alreday nearly set!" Rysuki was right. They had about two hours of daylight left.
"Dream on!" Nari cried. "You killed Kagura, and now you're threatening to kill Shippo! I will never give up!" Kohaku stood tall and string behind, a determind look on his face.
"Nor I!" He said. Similar sentences were said by everyone except Koga.
"We don't have time for stupid vows. Rysuki, you're dead!" Koga jumped at Rysuki, unsheathing his blade and swinging downwards at Rysuki as he jumped over him, landing near Kagura's body.
"Crimson Wolf Flame!" The gigantic wolf howled and ran right through Rysuki. Rysuki just grimaced and toughed it out.
"If that is all you can do, dear wolf, then do not dream of defeating me."
"The Bite of the Wind!" Rysuki turned, taken by surprise. He hadn't notiecd Nari shift into bird form and get high enough to attack. What's more, he didn't expect her to be carrying an artillery.
"Space Vaccum Obliteration!" Miroku yelled, jumping down from Nari and holding his sword point out. A black hole formed, and sucked out whatever Rysuki had that was loose. It knocked him slightly off balance as well.
"Crimson Wolf Flame!" Koga shouted again, hitting Rysuki hard in the back, pushing him towards Miroku. You'd expect This to eb a great victory, but all Rysuki did was smile as the air void close up- Miroku couldn't hold it up any longer. Miroku was sweating heavily. He reached into his cloak and drew out ofuda.
"Ofuda!" he yelled as he threw the scrolls of excorsism at Rysuki's face. They burned him on contact. Rysuki hissed low, then he grabbed Miroku with a tentecle. Miroku- who was rubbing his sweaty forehead with hid cloak sleeve- couldn't see it.
"Miroku!" Inuyasha yelled. He was on teh other side of Rysuki, where Nari had dropped Kagome and him off. Kagome was currently rescuing Shippo.
"Get-offa-me!" Miroku wrenched the limb away from his neck, throwing himself backward into a tree as he did so. the tree buckled on impact, and that wasn't the only thing. Miroku had the wind knocked out of him. He couldn't breathe. He would've been the next casualty of the battel if Kagome hadn't chosen that moment to attack.
"Mikos Tears!" A huge blast of water hit Rysuki from behind, on the burns that Koga had given him. Rysuki let out a breath.
"Huhhhhhhhhhh......." Rysuki turned to face them, holding the houshi in place with a tentecle around the ribs. It was a crushing pressure. All of teh stress he was getting, combined with the constant pressure, Miroku passed out. Elsewhere, someone awoke.
*Sango*
"Ugh......" Sango muttered. She was enclosed in abrrier, her wounds almost all gone. "Where......?" Her memeory came flooding back.
"Miroku........." Sango quickly undid the barrier and chacked for her sword. Everything was in order. She did a quick scan for Miroku's mental pattern.
'The summit...... and in pain?!' Sango thought. Indeed, the signals were spreading from the summit, and she knew that one or all of her friends were in pain, and terror. Except for Kagura. Sango coudln't sense her anywhere........
'That doesn't mean anything....... bad's happend to her......' Sango tried to convince herself. She ran as fast as she could to the summit.
'Miroku, hang on until I'm there......" Sango pleaded.
*Kagome*
"Shippo, I've got you." Kagome yanked Shippo up.
"Th-thanks Kagome." He glanced around. "Hey, where is everyone? Where's Koga, Kagura, Sago, Miroku, Nari and Kohaku?"
"They're all fighting........" Kagome said, sadness entering her voice. She didn't wnat toi bring up the painful subject of Kagura. She looked up and saw Rysuki ready to kill Miroku. She didn't think twice.
"Mikos Tears!" The attack hit Rysuki in teh back. He hissed, in great pain. Shippo darted forward, ready to attack. He wanted to eb strong...... and Miroku was in trouble. They were like a pack, and packs stuck together.
"Kitsunebi!" The foxfire struck Rysuki in a limb. When he saw Rysuki coming for him, he yelled:
"Multiply Spell!" Instantly there were a dozen Shippos. Each was torn in half by a tentecle whiel teh real Shippo ran back to Kagome. He didn't get far. Rysuki was mad at Shippo for making him fall for a stupid trick like that. He hit the kit with an appendage, knocking him into Kagoem's arms. She stumbled back, but caught her balance.
"Are you and teh kit okay, Kagoem?" Inuyasha called, waging war on some tentecles that had risen up to attack him. He hacked them down without thinking. Kagome nodded.
"Inuyasha look out!" Shippo yelled. He alone had noiticed a tentecle come behind Inuyasha, pointed to spear him through. Inuyasha tried to dodge right, but teh tentecle still cut into his left shoulder. Inuyasha groaned.
"Umpf.." He fell down, the blow enough to unbalance him.
"Doggie getting lazy in his old age, hmmm?" Rysuki asked, mockingly.
"Song of teh Sea!" Rysuki screamed and clawed at his ears, making them bleed. Kagome looked beyind Rysuki, to Sango.
"Sango!" Kagome called. She didn't look well. Sango was bloody and obviously tired. No one noticed Miroku stirring behind Sango.
Rysuki stood straight, though in obvious pain form the ringing Sango's sword was giving off.
"You... will....... rue.... that...... exterminator." Rysuki panted. He shot a tentecle at Sango, fast as greased lightening. It was aimed perfectly at her chest. When it hit..........
"Okay, but don't wear yourself out!" Miroku cautioned. He was tiring more quickly then the others. 'Probably because I gave Sango most of my energy.......' he mused.
