InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 37 ( Chapter 37 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
*Kohaku Nari*
"Nari, let's go to the ground!" Kohaku called to her. Nari nodded. Kohaku had to egt back on the ground, but she would stay in the air. She said as much to Kohaku. He simply nodded, conserving his energy for when he really needed it. Nari gracefully set him down, then went back up and circled around Rysuki's head. She saw a small opening, and took it.
"Bite of the Wind!" Wind bites sunk themselves into Rysuki. He bit back a cry. He was bleeding, bruised, and very bloody as of this point, but he was winning.
"Metal Chain Snake!" Kohaku yelled, snapping his metal whip at Rysukis face. Rysuki jumped back to avoid it, but ran into an attack from Sango. She was using her sword as a cutting tool, so that took a chunck from one of his many tentecles. He took this oppertunity to taunt her.
"Aw... poor demon slayer, without her monk......" Sango's face became red again, and not from tears. She was angery.
"Ughhh...." Sango lept as high as she could, thrusting ehr sword into his chest....... or would've, if his arm hadn't come up and batted her away like a fly. Sango cried out and tried to roll with teh blow, landing near Kohaku. He ran to her side, fending off the deadly appendages as he ran.
"Sango... Sango are you okay?" Kohaku shook her. Sango was on her feet in an instant.
"I will be....... as soon as I get this fool out of my misery......" Sango prepared her weapon.
"Song of the Sea!" She heard others yell out their attacks a nanosecond later. Kohaku was even prepared to do so. He yelled his out with the others.
"Metal Chain Snake!"
"Crimson Wolf Flame!" Koga.
"Mikos Tears!" Kagome.
"Earth Acoplyse!" Inuyasha.
"Land Stampede!" Shippo.
"Bite of the Wind!" Nari.
The attacks seemed to combine in midair with whatever was closest to it. Kohaku's whip seemed to be ringing, and the acoplyse seemed to include water and illusions. All teh details were shimmery, almost turning pink. They had a faintly pink glow, but they were not pure pink. As teh attack hit Rysuki, he screamed. They waited until the dust cleared, and were shocked at the damage that the attack had wrought. Rysuki was breathing heavily, seemingly half-dead.
"How......... you are only..... a mixed people......." Rysuki looked bewildered, but then smiled.
"I felt lots of wind in there." He glanced up at Nari. "You attack your father? Such a disobediant girl should be taught respect.." Rysuki shot a tentecle at Nari, faster then the eye could follow. Nari herself didn't spot it until it was feet from her heart. She shut her eyes tightly..... when that hit....
'When that hits, I'm dead.' she thought. A lone tear streaked down her face. She couldn't avoid it. She suddenly felt something jump in front of her. She opened an eyes to see what it was. In fornt of her, there was a soul. The soul was solid enough to take the blow, but light enough to float. Reflected deep in the soul, there was a face.
"No!" Nari cried seeing who it was. "No!" Nari was crying openly now as the soul lost its light and fell.
"Mama!"
*Mikos house*
"Ma'am? Do you need anything?" a maid asked. The Miko shook her head sadly.
"I'm fine. It's my time." The Miko thought about Nari, about how much she'd miss her. The Miko decided to check on teh battle. She had checked few minutes ago, buts he wanted to keep tabs on iot. She concentrated, a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead. What she heard/ saw, shocked her.
(Feelings)
'Scared...... so worried..... angery.. protective........ can't dodge.......'
'Will she be alright?! she can't dodge........ she has to come back to me....... come on.........'
' What... Rysuki.. he's gonna kill Nari......' The Miko pulled out of teh foreign thoughts. She knew all she needed.
"Goodbye." She said quietly, letting her soul slip from her body. The servents around teh house could only watch as her soul rose into the air and sped off to where Nari and teh others were.
'I can only hope I'm not too late....' the Miko's soul thought as she ran into the clearing. She had scant seconds left. She darted in front of Nari as the tentecle was about to hit. The Miko felt a bit of pain, then nothingas she floated down to teh ground and disapppeared. The last image she saw in teh world was Nari's crying- but alive- face.
*Limbo*
"Kagura? You...... I thought that you would've moved on." Miroku said. Kagura laughed.
"I haven't and nor have you. I'm surprised that you died..... How?" Kagura asked. Miroku looked at her oddly, then thought that he miht as well, it wasn't exactly like they had other thinsg to do.
"I saved Sango's life. He would've killed her."
"I died because I attacked Rysuki from behind. I hope that I don't meet any of our other frineds up here." Miroku nodded.
"I just.... can't believe we're dead..." Kagura said softly. Pearly white tears rolled down her face. "It doesn't feel real....."
"I have only been here a while...... but I agree." Miroku said. He glanced around teh room. Most of teh people were dressed like they were going to prision, or on trial. Kagura, catching his look, said:
"They are to be put to Final Judgement. Everyone dressed like they were when they died- you and I, for example- are being held back by something. People called Excorsists help us on our way. Sometime sthey even go back down, if it's a difficult soul. So far, none have been able to get me to move on." Kagura laughed hollowly. "They're getting their head Excorsist in here to help." Miroku looked around soem more, grateful for the explanation. His eyes landed on a mirror, round like the Earth.
"What is-?"
"That mirror? The Earth Mirror. You can see what's going on." Kaguar said. Suddenly, her ears perked up, and her shoulders slumped.
"We have a new arrival." Miroku opened his mouth to speak, but he saw a soul gliding towrads them. Reflected deep inside, was the Miko.
"What happened?" Kagura asked. "Any battle news?"
"We're losing. I just saved Nari's life, but my soul had already left my body. I have no clue why I'm here. I thought that I'd move to my resting place."
"Everyone does. You three have duties to perform yet." Miroku stiffened. He recognized that voice.. Kagura did too.
"What are you doing here?" The Miko didn't know who it was, so she kept quiet. The person smiled.
"I am the head Excorsist here. I will not help you move on. You must go back. I can give you back your bodies, but your friends must beat Rysuki. If they don't....... it would be pointless." The person turned towards the Earth Mirror. "Come, we can watch the battle."
"Wait! Why are you helping us?" Miroku demanded of the person. The woman smiled.
"You have a duty to perform yet, and I know three people if not 7 that would be aggrieved over your deaths. You are dead as of now, but rememeber, you can go back." The lady turned towrads the mirror, waving a hand over the surface. Pictures of Koga's and Sango's reactions flitted across teh screen. Nari's too, and finally, the battle. Miroku and Kagura were speechless.
"Tu-Turn it off......." Kagura said weakly. She couldn't handle all those images. Miroku and the Miko backed her up. The dark-haired woman turned around.
"Do you wish to go back, if possible? Not to your rewards?" the miko asked them. The Miko, Miroku, and Kagura all nodded, tears running down the Mikos face. Kikyo smiled again.
"Then I will see to it, if the others win." She turned to leave, but Kagura caught her shoulder.
"Why are you helping us Kikyo?"
"I'm atoning. I won't move from Limbo until I do. I could go to Hell now, but I will work for a century to atone for all teh bad I've done, in my life and sham rebirth." Kagura let go of her shoulder.
"Thank you, Kikyo." Miroku said. "I am glad that your soul has found a small measure of peace since that day." Miroku was referring to the day when he had laid Kikyo to rest. Kikyo smiled a bit wider.
"I am doing what I should have been doing over fifty years ago." Kikyo bowed, just a nod of the head. "I was angery at you when you were doing teh ceremony, but I was happy when you were through. I must go now. I ahve other souls to help find rest." Kikyo left them, but secretly turned the mirror on. The three were staring at the unfolding battle, mixed expressions. Hope, fear, love, hate, faith...... all showed on their faces. They hated and feared Rysuki, hoped, loved, and feared for their companions, and had faith in them to win.
"Please...... win." the Miko said softly, watching teh battle.
"Nari, let's go to the ground!" Kohaku called to her. Nari nodded. Kohaku had to egt back on the ground, but she would stay in the air. She said as much to Kohaku.
