InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Story (No Title Yet) ❯ Chapter 2 ( Chapter 2 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
I just wanted to say thanks to Kagehoushi for the title suggestions. I really suck at titles. I don’t think I’ll have one any time soon. Nothing really seems to fit the story I have going on in my head.

Thanks to Lill too. I know its not your type of story, but it made me feel great that you liked my writing.

Thanks a lot to Megan Consoer for reviewing on media miner, I thought I’d never get a review there.

So enough with the chatter, here’s chapter 2, I hope you all enjoy it. I don’t own any Inuyasha characters by the way.

~Chapter 2~

“I don’t believe it! It’s so simple!” Kagome squealed in delight as she finally figured out how to make the propulsion system work. She had been experimenting for over a month with no results, but now she had just what she needed. A simple mistake turned miracle. Well… at least that’s what she thought it was. It was a good thing too, because she was starting to loose faith. It had never taken her so long to figure something out.

Sesshoumaru arched a brow. She hadn’t said much to him since their argument and most of their conversations were through a computer anyway. He hadn’t seen her this excited since the first day she arrived. Her attitude had changed a little when things hadn’t gone her way. “What is it that you don’t believe?”

She flashed him a smile. “That they pay you to sit there and do nothing productive. Here I go and figure everything out while you just sit there and look pretty.”

Sesshoumaru growled. “This is precisely why we do not speak to one another.”

She scowled. “Stop being the asshole that you are and come look.”

As she ran the simulation she smiled. She couldn’t wait until the production of the new shuttle. She would man its first flight and choose the entire crew for it. She and whomever she chose were going to be the first people out of the solar system, and hopefully the galaxy she was aiming for.

Sesshoumaru speaking snapped her out of her thoughts. “This is quite impressive, as much as I hate to admit it. It will change space flight forever, opening up the entire universe to us.”

She blushed at the compliment. She would have never thought in a million years he could utter a nice word to anyone. She was speechless. She almost felt bad for her earlier comment… almost.

He was taken aback as the blush stained her cheeks. ‘She looks even more beautiful.’ He shook his head. He couldn’t believe what he had just allowed to flow into his train of thoughts. There was no way he could be attracted to that loud-mouthed know-it-all. “What do you plan to do now?” He asked, trying to shake the images of her beginning to form in his head.

She almost hit herself she was acting so silly. She had been blushing like a schoolgirl. She quickly regained her composure. It unnerved her that she let it slip. “NASA has agreed to allow me to supervise and participate in the construction of the shuttle and all its parts. When it’s finished they have agreed to a mission I suggested for testing it out. I get to also choose the flight team, so you better start sucking up now.”

He glared at her, but he had to give her some credit. She had accomplished quite a bit in the month that she had been here. He had never met a person that could say were smarter than him. She surpassed him by leaps and bounds. She intrigued him. She was an anomaly in the human race. He had to solve the puzzle that was Kagome.

He took her by surprise when he grasped her hand in his and brought it to his nose. “What… what are you doing?” She nervously stammered out. She watched him sniff her hand and then nearly fell out of her chair when he licked her. A look of pure shock washed over her features as she snapped her hand back to her body. ‘Did he just lick me?

Sesshoumaru smirked when he picked up a faint scent of her arousal underneath the thick mask of her nervousness. It was glad to know that he hadn’t lost his touch. Usually the girls threw themselves at him. She hadn’t shown any interest… until now.

He picked her hand back up in his and brought it to his nose again. Her scent was intoxicating, almost surreal. She didn’t smell like any other human he’d met, but she still smelled like one. He couldn’t explain it. “I am merely trying to decipher you by your scent.” He said in a husky voice that even he was surprised by. She was a little too enticing.

She felt the blush creep back across her cheeks at his words. ‘Is he coming on to me? What does he mean by decipher me?

Both of their heads snapped up and they jumped away from each other as a tall man with dark hair and blue eyes entered the room. As soon as Kagome saw who it was her eyes lit up. “Kouga!”

Kouga smiled and went over to give her a hug. “How are you doing my little tenshi? I’ve missed you.”

The blush returned to her cheeks and she smiled shyly up at Kouga. He always was the persistent one. “I’m good. How did you manage to make it out here?”

He kissed her forehead and flashed her another grin. “I always make time for my woman.”

Sesshoumaru couldn’t contain himself as this man pawed all over her and claimed her for his and let a growl slip.

Kagome wriggled out of Kouga’s grasp and eyed Sesshoumaru suspiciously. She could have sworn he just growled, but he just stood their, stoic as ever. She had to have imagined it. She returned her gaze to Kouga and glared. “I’ve told you before that I’m not your woman.” He had to be one of the most stubborn men she knew. No matter how many times she told him, he just didn’t listen.

Kouga just shrugged his shoulders and walked back out the door, pausing just before he left. “You’ll wizen up one of these days. Oh and Sango says that she’ll be by this evening. Have a great day my sweet tenshi.”

Kagome shook her head and put her head in her palms. She was starting to get a headache. He always seemed to do that to her.

Sesshoumaru returned to his desk, smirk on his lips. “It seems someone has an admirer.”

She glared at him and threw her pen at him. “Oh shut it! It’s not funny!”

He wasn’t sure why, but he felt much better knowing that this Kouga person had no chance with her. Not that he wanted her. No, she just deserved better. “Oh I disagree. It is very amusing.”

She slammed her hands down on her desk and stood up. She did not like not having the upper hand. “I’m going to tell Michael the good news. I’ll see you when I get back.”

Kagome skipped back down the hall to her office. She had just spent the last four hours explaining everything to the committee and they had loved every bit of her presentation. Everyone was fascinated by what she was doing, and word was quickly spread throughout the facility.

She squealed when she saw Sango waiting for her at her desk. “Sango! You’re here!”

Sesshoumaru winced and glared at the two squealing women. “Must you be so loud?”

Sango elbowed Kagome and motioned towards Sesshoumaru raising her brows in interest. Kagome’s eyes widened and she shook her head violently, blushing. “No way no how!”

Sango smiled and shrugged her shoulders. She really could care less, she just thought he looked like her type. That was if she even had a type. In all the time she had known her, she had never seen her show any sort of interest in any man. If she didn’t know any better she would think her best friend a nun, different or not. “I was just curious. Don’t be so defensive. It wouldn’t be so bad you know. He is cute.”

He smiled now realizing they were talking about him. It was unnerving. He rarely ever smiled, but since this girl had arrived he had been doing it more and more. What was even more amusing was that she was now ten different shades of red, glaring at her friend. Apparently she had struck a nerve. He stored that little bit of information for later use.

Kagome grabbed Sango by the arm and yanked her out of the room. Sango shook her from her arm with an innocent look on her face. “What?”

She rolled her eyes. “You know what. Why do you always have to embarrass me?”

Sango put her hands on her hips. “Why can’t you just make me happy and go out on a date? You made me go out with Miroku.”

Kagome laughed. “But you two were meant for each other! Anyone could have seen it, and you’re engaged now!”

“That doesn’t matter. It doesn’t change the fact that you need a man in your life. I’m just looking out for you. I mean… if we die in space, you can’t die a virgin. I’d say you’ve got about a year before we lift off. That’s not a lot of time to be picky.” She said with a huge smile on her face.

Kagome shook her head and handed her the keys to her place. Sango would never understand anyway. Hell, she didn’t even understand herself. “You know with me in charge it will take less so it doesn’t matter. Here, make yourself at home. Take my car, it will tell you how to get there.”

Sango’s eyes lit up as Kagome handed her the keys. She just loved driving her car. She may have sold her other one, but this new one was much better. It practically drove itself, not to mention incredibly fast. She couldn’t wait. “Thanks Kagome! See ya when you get home!”

Kagome sighed as she watched her friend take off for the parking lot. This was going to be a long weekend. With Sango around, things were never going to get done. Sighing, she immediately went back and buried herself in her work. It would be the only work she would be able to get done all weekend with her around. No doubt she would either drag her out or bring the party to her.

Sesshoumaru got up to leave for the day and almost smiled when he walked past her desk. She was propped up on her hand and out cold. ‘Kouga was right, she does look like a tenshi. She looks so innocent and peaceful in her sleep. No one should look that beautiful.’ He shook his head to clear his thoughts. He needed to get out of here. This human woman was starting to affect him in ways he did not approve of.

As he walked through the halls he had a nagging sensation that he should turn around. For some reason he thought someone was watching him, but there was no scent lingering in the halls so it was impossible. The further he walked away the stronger the urge but he fought it off and pushed forward, seconds later regretting not listening to his instincts.

A scream resonated through the walls of the facility and he took off back towards the lab. Panic set in knowing whose body that scream could belong too.

Flinging open the door to the lab he was instantly greeted by the strong scent of her blood. It sang to his youki and he didn‘t how a ningen’s blood could make his react in such a way. No youkai’s beast ever yearned to taste a ningen’s blood. It didn’t make any sense and only increased his need to find her.

His frantic search ended when he found her slumped over in front of her computer covered in her own blood. He was at her side inspecting her in an instant, relieved, no matter how surprised, to find her still breathing. He tried to wake her up by shaking her, but she wouldn’t stir from her slumber.

He searched for the place for her blood loss but he was baffled. The girl didn’t have a scratch on her. The blood that seemingly had poured from her neck had no right to be on her body without a wound to show for it.

He searched the ground for a possible weapon and found a syringe on the floor. ‘That explains why she won’t wake up.

Content with the fact that she was unharmed, although still confused by the blood, he looked to her laptop. He jostled it from it’s sleep mode and almost laughed when he read the screen. Apparently the computer was smarter than he thought. Not only did it recognize her touch, access was granted to files on her vitals as well apparently. The screen flashed a red error reading: Warning, vitals too low, access denied.

He turned a worried glance at her bloodied form and couldn’t figure out for the life of him why he even cared. As much as he screamed at himself that she was okay he couldn’t bring himself to leave her there to be taken care of by someone else. The idea of her waking up in a puddle of her own blood didn’t sit too well with him.

Against his better judgment he decided to take her home with him. His beast, however, purred with contentment at the thought. She could stay in one of the guest rooms and he would have one of the female servants clean her up. It just felt better to have her where he could keep an eye on her. That and he could figure out what happened from her when she awoke.

He lifted her up in his arms and smiled when she cuddled up to him. It eased his mind to know that she really was just sleeping.

“It didn’t fucking work! How was I supposed to know she kept that data that well protected!” The man hollered as he walked through the door. “She’s just a kid!”

The pale girl at the desk flinched as he threw the vase at the wall, shattering it into a million pieces. Her eyes followed the dark figure as he made his way through the room. If she stayed quiet, maybe… maybe there was a chance he wouldn’t take it out on her.

She sighed when her sister came into the room to see what was going on. Some people just never learned. She may be married to the bastard, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t take it out on her too.

The man’s eyes fell on his wife’s shocked gaze and he grinned evilly. She really hadn’t seen this side of him yet. He was going to take great pleasure in showing her.

Sesshoumaru sat in his study unable to sleep. The only thing he could think of was that he had her in his bed. Well, it was his guest bed, but still his bed. For some reason he couldn’t shake the need to be by her side, to be the first she saw when she awoke. It was disturbing.

Ever since he had gone to check on her once she had been cleaned up he hadn’t been able to shake this feeling, this want, this need to be near her. He had been stunned by her beauty as she lay there in his white satin sheets. Her long raven hair spread out around her framing her perfect face.

Sesshoumaru shook his head trying to shake the images steadily forming in his brain. It wasn’t right. He shouldn’t want her. She was a human. She was beneath him.

His beast screamed in his mind. It disagreed completely, which confused him. It wanted her and needed to make sure she was safe. For what reason he was unsure, but he was forced to comply as it drug him to her side.

He cursed himself for being so weak. Never had a woman had so much control over him. His beast had calmed when he propped himself on the bed leaning on the mantle. He would appease it this way… for now.

Looking down at her he couldn’t pull his gaze from her beautiful form. The moonlight danced across her features giving her creamy skin an unearthly glow as her hair seemed to capture the stars from the sky. She looked like a dark angel lying there beside him. ‘My kurai tenshi.’

His eyes widened as the thought completed in his head. Since when did he think of her as his? He cursed his deceitful beast.

He glanced back down at her and sighed. His beast had never taken a liking to any other female before, and really, who was he to try to stop it? There had to be a reason that it wanted her. There had to be something he didn’t know.

Whatever it was, he decided that he wasn’t going to fight himself anymore. If there were humans like her, maybe they weren’t so bad after all. For now he was going to appease his beast.

Making his decision he slumped down into the bed next to Kagome, snaking one of his arms around her body, her scent quickly coaxing him into a deep sleep.

So I hope you all enjoyed this. I’m having a blast writing all this. I’m still open for suggestions on the title. Oh and if you couldn’t tell from reading the story kurai tenshi means dark angel. I only know that for sure because I asked the Japanese exchange student in my astronomy course. You can’t ask for a better source. Reviews make me really happy, so I’d appreciate a few.
