InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Stranger in Old Times ❯ Chapter 4 ( Chapter 4 )
As the sun rose the next morning, two female voices were heard screeching and laughing.
"RIN! You're cheating!" Ang said to the little girl.
They had been playing Hide-N-Go Seek and Rin was under the table trying to hide.
"Rin's not cheating. She's hiding so you can't catch her." Rin said, full of energy.
Ang could only wonder if Sesshoumaru would be mad with the girl for coming here to play. After all, she had no one else. The little girl ran out from the opposite end of the table and out into the hall. Ang was running after her, preparing to bring her back into the room when she knocked into someone. Sending them and herself flying towards a wall. Luckily, Sesshoumaru grabbed her in his arms and diverted to miss the wall. Thank god they did.
"What are you doing out of that room?" He asked a startled Ang.
"I was playing with Rin. You got a problem with that?" She asked, not really caring if he did.
He set her down and pulled her back into the room.
"Look, I need to use the bathroom, and I have to take a bath. I smell really bad!" She said.
He nodded in agreement.
"Indeed. Follow me."
He turned and walked out of the room. She had never expected for him to give in like that. She ran out of the room and followed him down a long dark corridor and out of the main hall. Soon they came to a wing that had been made into a large swimming pool type thing.
"What is this?" She asked, very interested in this new thing.
"It's called a Hot Spring. I had my home built over it."
He acted as if she were supposed to know what it was.
"I didn't know. I'm only used to swimming pools and Jacuzzis."
It was his turn to look dumb founded.
"They are types of Hot Springs in the future." She said simply.
"You got anything I can put on when I get out?"
He pointed to a small cloth and two larger ones resting on the edge of the hot spring.
"You should know how to use these. But just incase you don't, the small one here is what you dry off with, and the two larger things are clothes. They are mine, but you may wear them until your things are cleaned properly."
She stared at him for a minute.
"Thanks a lot. I promise not to get your stuff too dirty." She said smiling.
He walked out the room and closed the door behind him. There was no other way into or out of the room. That was probably why he left her there. She walked over to the side of the hot spring and stripped off her clothes. She didn't realize that she was so dirty. The once white shirt was now a dark brown, and her shorts had stains on them. She could only hope they would come out, but without the proper materials, she doubted it. As she sat in the hot water, she felt her muscles begin to relax. She hadn't had a bath in a while. Let alone a hot one. The heat seeped into her bones totally relaxing her.
Soon after washing her body and hair, she got out, dried off and dressed. She had to put on the smaller of the two kimonos that looked exactly like Sesshoumaru's. It was still huge on her, but it was something clean at least. Ang picked up her dirty clothes and opened the door leading out of the room. Jaken was sitting there on a stool, blocking the way.
"Sesshoumaru-Sama said for me to take your clothes and then take you to the main dining chamber." Ang nodded and handed him her clothes.
She followed him back down the two halls and past her room. They walked through another hall and into a large dining room. Ang stopped surprised at the marvelous beauty it held. There was a long dining table with a golden crystal chandelier hanging up above. There were thin candles all over, not lit, but still beautiful. There were paintings of several things hanging on the walls. Rin came bounding towards her.
"Look, she's finally here Sesshoumaru-Sama!" She yelled and jumped onto a startled Ang.
"Huh? What?"
She looked at the girl who was smiling with big brown eyes. Sesshoumaru sat at the opposite end of the table, reading something on a white scroll.
"Whatcha got there Sesshoumaru?"
Ang walked to the table holding Rin on her hip. Sesshoumaru snorted and placed the scroll on the table, face down.
"Well, you didn't have to tell me if you didn't want to." She said sarcastically.
"Rin sits over there. Mommy can sit over here."
Rin pointed to the two seats next to Sesshoumaru; Rin hopped down and sat in the one on the opposite side of him. Having no other choice, she took the seat on his right.
"Sesshoumaru, I think you really need to clarify to her that I am not her mother." Ang whispered to him.
He simply nodded and snapped his fingers. Jaken came running into the room, followed by three more demons carrying trays of food. They looked hideous and cause Ang to look away. Sesshoumaru smirked and watched as the demons places the trays in front of them. Ang was in shock at how good the food looked. There was one tray with what looked like ham on it, another with vegetables like Potatoes and corn on the cob, and green beans, and another tray with bread and some kind of cake on it.
Jaken then placed a large container on the table and glasses in front of each person. All in all, the meal looked wonderful. She stared at the food and felt someone placing a finger under her chin.
"Don't drool, Ang." Sesshoumaru said lifting her chin to close her mouth.
"All this food looks so, damn good!" She said.
Rin started laughing and nearly fell out of her chair. Sesshoumaru however, missed the funny part and just stared at them, dumbfounded.
"Let us eat." He said and began piling food on his plate.
Rin followed suit. Ang watched them as they began to eat. Sesshoumaru had that beautiful grace even when he ate.
"Wow." Ang said.
Sesshoumaru turned his head and looked at her.
"Is there something wrong?" He said.
"I, Oh I'm sorry, I just didn't realize how cool you really are! I always thought you were the villain. I just never realized how cu…"
She stopped her sentence and blushed deep red.
"I was what?" Sesshoumaru said, enjoying this new form of torture.
"Cute." She said simply.
He raised a brow and continued to eat.
"Eat Ang, it's delicious!" Rin said.
Ang looked at Sesshoumaru and decided to just eat and try to ignore her nervousness. After heartily filling her plate. She began to eat. She had never tasted anything so exquisite.
"This...is...delicious!" She said in-between bites.
Rin smiled and ate her food. Not long after, all the food was gone. Ang and Sesshoumaru having ate the most, were stuffed beyond capacity.
"That was great Sesshoumaru. Thanks for the food." Ang said and sighed.
`I wonder what else he is `great' at?' Ang thought and immediately laughed at herself.
"What do you find so amusing?" Sesshoumaru asked her.
"Not much. Just thinking to myself." She blushed.
"Rin, go and play now. I need to talk to Ang alone."
Rin left and Ang sat not moving.
`God help me. What is he going to do to me now?' she thought.
"I wanted have a moment without Rin. Hope you don't mind." He said simply.
She nodded and watched as Jaken and the weird demons came to take away the plates and trays.
"Come, lets us take a walk."
He waited for her to stand and lead her out of the castle doors. They got outside and began to walk through the small garden near a lake. It was rather pretty there. Flowers of all colors graced the walkways and rose bushes were every were. The place even smelled wonderful.
"Ang, I know you must think of me as the devil himself, but no harm will come to you if you act as a hostage should. Inuyasha will come for you, it might take a while because he is so slow, but he will come. You are to remain indoors and not step a foot outside unless I can see you."
Sesshoumaru stopped walking and turned to face her.
"Of course Sesshoumaru. I don't want to die just yet."
He nodded and continued walking.
"I would like it if you told me everything about you. You seem to be a stranger here, you didn't even know what a hot spring was, so tell me your story."
He was actually polite.
"Ok. No problem."
He led her to a bench next to the lake and there, she told her life story. From Kindergarten, to High School, until the day she arrived in feudal Japan.
"Fascinating." He said to himself.
"Kaede said that I have a destiny here. I just wish I knew what I was supposed to do."
She sounded a bit sad and Sesshoumaru decided that it was time to change the subject.
"No point in pondering, it will come to you eventually. Let's continue our walk shall we."
He held out his hand to her and she took it, smiling.
"Sesshoumaru, can I ask you a question?"
He nodded and released her hand.
"I was just wondering, why did you kiss me? I mean, you hardly know me and no offence, but you don't seem the type to just walk up and kiss someone."
She started blushing and once again he stopped walking. She almost crashed into him, but stopped herself in time.
"To be totally honest, I don't know why I kissed you. I just acted on impulse. I apologize." He said quickly.
"It's alright. It was rather enjoyable."
Ang quickly smacked herself over the head with a sharp slap. He grinned and continued walking.
"It was very enjoyable."
It was his turn to slap himself.
`Idiot'
They both had the same thought at the same time.
"Oh well, at least we both know we can kiss well."
They laughed together and continued their walk.

From there, time slowly passed. Sesshoumaru began to like Ang more and more. He couldn't deny that he was attracted to her. Ang was the same, the more time she spent with him and Rin, the more she loved them both. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months with still no signs of Inuyasha. She wondered if he had given up on her and abandoned his search. Even though Ang no longer felt like a prisoner, she still wanted to go home. She thought about her mom everyday and missed her terribly. She just wished that someday, she would see her again.
**********************************************
Sesshoumaru and Ang sat in his library, reading books. Ang had a fascination with all the books he had, mostly war books, but she enjoyed them anyway. Ang had surprised Sesshoumaru greatly when he learned of her fighting skills. It was rare that a woman could protect herself, but it was all the more rarer when she could almost defeat the Lord of the Western Lands. He had never allowed her into his weapons room for fear that she may try to kill him. Somehow he knew she wouldn't, but decided to stay on the safe side.
"Come on Sesshou, let's practice again. PLEASE?"
He smiled at his nickname that she began calling him long ago. Ang kneeled in front of him and grabbed his hand.
"We just practiced this morning." He said with a smirk.
"But it's so much fun, especially when I kick your ass." She said laughing.
"We will see who defeats who." He said and dragged her to his large almost empty battle room.
Ang cringed as she always did when she saw the three large sword like weapons hanging on the wall. They had small black handles and large blades that jutted out with a rigged end. He had told her that they were used to fight opponents that he thought worthy. They made Ang feel disgusted. There was something about them she didn't like, so she never went near them.
The match started out with Sesshoumaru attacking her from behind, but she easily ducked and he sailed over her shoulder. Using the wall as a pivot point, he turned and used his speed trying to punch her in the chest. At the last moment she jumped and kicked his back, sending him into the wall. He crashed on the floor and Ang laughed. He got up and charged at her again. She did a front flip and landed behind him, surprisingly, his fist made contact with her side. She let out a whoosh of air, but didn't move.
"I know that hurt, so stop pretending."
She held up a little finger signaling him to wait as the pain passed.
"That one really hurt Sesshou." She said and stood upright.
She slowly walked pass him, just as he thought that she might try to attack him, he felt her fist connect with his face and her foot in his back, sending him once again to the wall. This time, he managed to hit the wrong wall. Ang cried out in horror as she saw the ends of the three swords protruding from his back.
"Sesshoumaru. Oh God."
She ran over to him and found him to be unconscious. It disgusted her to see that the swords had went all the way through his body. She felt the tears before they came.
"Sesshoumaru, wake up. Come on, please don't die." She cried.
Afraid and not knowing what to do, she silently said a prayer and wrapped her fingers around one of the swords hilts.
"God give us both strength." She whispered and pulled the first sword from his body.
He didn't move and it scared Ang even more. She quickly and carefully pulled out the second sword. This time he woke up.
"Ang, pull it out so I can heal." He said simply, she could hear the pain in his voice.
"I'm so sorry, I never meant for this to happen. Please forgive me."
He grabbed her bloodied hand and brought it to his mouth.
"It's ok. I will be fine. Just pull out the sword and then we will talk."
Still holding his hand, Ang used the other one and pulled it out. His blood squirted over her clothes and face. Ang screeched and looked at his face. She remembered her first aid classes and decided that she could help him. Using the end of her kimono, she put pressure on the third sword wound seeing as how that one was bleeding the most. He groaned and tried to inch away from her.
"No. Please let me help you. Please."
She was still crying and blaming herself for his accident. When he opened his eyes, he saw the tears on her face. It hurt his heart to see her that way.
"Why do you cry for me?" He whispered.
"I don't think I could stand to live without you my Sesshou." She said bringing his hand to her lips.
He looked down to his chest to see that the first wound was healing already.
"All will be well Ang. Do not cry for me." He said weakly.
"I can't help it. Its all my fault for hurting you, I never meant it, please know that."
He nodded.
"I do. Accidents happen, love. I'm just glad it was me instead of you. You would have died and I would not have had the strength to go on living."
More tears fell from her eyes.
"You called me love." She whispered.
He nodded and used his thumb to stroke her cheek before collapsing into darkness once again.
