---Chapter 10---

AN: hello I think I'm going to rewrite chapter 9, later. I skimmed over it and it really was the worst piece of crap I've ever seen! Oh I was wondering if anyone could help me… mentally!? Nah just kidding I read this story on aff.net and I lost the name and the URL. Kagome and Inuyasha were best friends in secret, uh Inuyasha was rich. Lets see Inuyasha was going out with Kikyou because he was being black mailed by her father, Naraku. Naraku said he would show Inuyasha's mother pictures of his father cheating on her. That's all I can remember, I know it's kind of vague but it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could tell me the name or give me the URL! PLEASE FOR GOD'S SAKE, it's driving me more insane than I already am!!! (Believe me you wouldn't want to see that!)

---Sun March 13th---

Kagome was packing up her things when she noticed Shippou sitting on a rock by the camp fire staring off into his thoughts. She sat down next to him on the ground. She didn't want to interrupt his thinking so they just sat there for a while enjoying each others company.

"Hey squirt help me pack up, I was hoping to get home before dark."

She rubbed the top of his head and they both got up to finish packing. Kagome wanted to drive through town one more time. She was thinking about coming back alone so she was trying to memorize anything she could. She saw a boy about the height of an average 10 year old. He had black hair and was wearing a soccer uniform, she couldn't see his face. She slammed on the brakes; the car behind her was honking its horn. She snapped out of her daze and pulled over. God I hope that's him. He was walking farther and farther away from her, she needed to know if it was him.

She got out of her truck and ran across the street pissing off more drivers as she did. This kid was a good distance away so she ran, all the things that her and Souta could do was going through her head.

"SOUTA!"

She grabbed the boys shoulder and spun him around. The boy looked surprised, she wanted to cry but decided now wasn't the time.

"Oh I'm so sorry I thought you were someone else."

The boy just gave her a funny look before turning around and walking away real fast. She slowly walked back to the truck to find Shippou staring out the window. She got back in and continued the drive home.

"Are you okay Kagome?"

"Yea just a rough day."

She turned the radio up and the rest of the drive was spent in silence. It seemed that was happening a lot. She would have been worried if she wasn't enjoying the comfortable silence she was sharing with her best friend, a boy who was practically her son.

She pulled up to her house to find Inuyasha sitting on her porch. She slowly got out of the truck wishing she was hallucinating. Shippou did the same; he walked around the truck to her side. She handed him the keys and he understood. He walked past Inuyasha and unlocked the door. He headed straight for the computer; he forgot he had an assignment due on Monday.

"Inuyasha what are you doing here? I'm really not up to your interrogation, I had a rough weekend. I'm exhausted."

His face didn't show any emotion, he also had bags under his eyes. She knew he wasn't getting much sleep. For some reason she felt like taking him upstairs and letting him fall asleep in her arms. Like a wife would take care of her exhausted husband.

"I need to know. I have to know. Who are you? You supposedly died 3 years ago; your legal name is Riley. I don't understand. I've been up almost all weekend trying to figure this out."

Kagome's face paled. Oh no he knows. I can't tell him the truth, he might want to help. He could get hurt, besides this is my problem I have to take care of myself. Kagome stood there for a good minute arguing with herself. She decided she didn't want to see Inuyasha dead if it came down to that with the Syndicate.

"Inuyasha… I can't discuss this right now but I promise you'll understand soon. Please don't make me explain this. You know who I am; I'm the same person that you've said you love. A name or identity won't change that."

Inuyasha seemed to accept that, for now. Kagome didn't know how long before she had to tell him the truth. Hoping that her problem with the mob would go away before she had to tell anyone else the truth. Kagome walked up to him and just hugged him, he returned her hug. He buried his nose in her hair; he loved the smell if her it relaxed him so much.

"Come on you need to sleep."

She pulled him by his hand into her house. She led him upstairs and pulled back the covers to her bed. Inuyasha took off his shoes and climbed in, this room smelled so much like her. He was glad that he was going to fall asleep with her scent all around him; he missed it so much over the weekend. She sat on the edge of the bed and placed his head in her lap, she started to pet him and rubbing his ears with her other hand. She held back a giggle, it was funny a dog demon purring. She wasn't going to tell him that, he would probably argue that he wasn't purring but really growling or something like that.

Once she was sure he was asleep she carefully put his head on her pillow and walked downstairs. She found Shippou on the couch asleep with the TV turned on playing Sunday cartoons. Kagome smiled and went out to her truck to unload everything. Once she was done with that she decided she would spend National Homework Day (Sunday) cleaning up the house. She hadn't cleaned it thoroughly in a long time.

"Well that was exhausting."

She spent all day cleaning up the house, to top that off her hands smelt like bleach. That smell wouldn't go away for a couple of days. She just hoped Inuyasha didn't kill over from the smell. Kagome walked back out to the living room and Shippou was still asleep. Thank god he was in his smaller form or he would have stayed on the couch. She picked him up and walked to her room. He slept with her almost every night since his mom died. She almost dropped Shippou, she forgot Inuyasha was there. Kagome calmed herself down, she laughed quietly. A lightly snoring man in your bed would have scared anyone else, except the first thought besides catch Shippou you idiot was where's my bat?

She took off her shoes and pulled back the covers on her side of the bed and crawled in while balancing Shippou in her arms. She laid on her side with Shippou hugging her chest. She was so close to drifting off to the dream world. Right then Inuyasha decided to roll over and wrap his arms around her. Kagome checked to make sure he wasn't squishing Shippou, he wasn't so she relaxed and followed the two boys into la la land.

---Morning---

Kagome slowly woke up, she was a little disoriented. Something felt good, wait this seems familiar. She forced herself to wake up and open her eyes. All she saw was the top of a silver head. She realized he was licking and sucking on her breast through her white t-shirt. Good thing she took her bra off who knows what he would have done to it. She lifted her head up and saw that he was completely on top of her. To top that off he had his hands around her back in a death hold. It's not like I'm going anywhere, what's with the death grip? The shirt was creating a nice friction; she arched her back into his mouth. After a few more licks he looked up at her.

"So you like that eh?"

"Shut up, I'm not going to change my mind. You're not getting any for a month!"

Kagome felt something move by her feet. She brought herself up on her forearms.

"But Kagome…"

"Huh you did that while Shippou was in here?"

Kagome smacked him on the back of the head. Shippou was by her feet curled up in the comforter. It looked like he was sleeping so she was a little relieved that is until she saw her alarm clock, she forgot to set it.

"Crap!"

She tried to get out of bed so fast she got her legs tangled in the comforter. There was a big thump and Kagome was face down on the floor. She noticed she pulled Shippou off the bed too; he was starting to wake up. He looked confused, probably because he remembered going to sleep on the couch. She heard snickering coming from the bed. She remembered why she was in such a hurry.

"Don't make it two months!" Kagome said as she raced into the bathroom to take a shower at lightening speed.

Kagome was downstairs with Shippou. He was sitting on a breakfast stool watching her cook breakfast. Inuyasha walked into the kitchen and grabbed a plate. Kagome didn't even bother to clean up she just set everything in the sink to clean after school. Kagome and Shippou got into her truck and Inuyasha got into his car that was parked a ways down the street.

It was now the end of the year, Kagome true to her world didn't let Inuyasha get any for a month. He still asked questions about her from time to time so she started to threaten no sex for an entire year. That got him to shut up. He wanted to go to prom but she decided to keep him busy some other way if you know what I mean!

Shippou was fine now; he was past grieving for his mother. He was doing things he normally did, hustle people at the Saturday races, hang with Matt and always be by Kagome's side. Miroku and Sango were going to have their wedding in about a year. Since Sango and Kagome's secret friendship got out they started to hang out in public, even plan Sango and Rin's wedding. Rin's wedding was going to be in July. Everyone couldn't wait, except maybe Inuyasha. Speaking of the hanyou he wanted to have Kagome move in with him, he even suggested moving in with her. Kagome turned him down she basically told him she wasn't ready.

Everyone was going to be graduating early. Sango and Kagome planned this since sophomore year but the guys figured what the hell. Besides it would make them look bad to have girlfriends in college, the same age yet still be in high school.

Inuyasha basically fessed up to taking Kagome's journal, after she found it under his bed when she was looking for her shoe. A week, broken nose and no sex later she forgave him. He was just happy that it wasn't a month. That was the worst month of his entire life!

Naraku gave Kagome space; he didn't want her to suspect anything. Even though he was getting impatient waiting for her to figure out where her brother is. At graduation he winked at her, a silent promise that he would be between her legs thrusting himself to completion soon. Of course she gave him the finger and had no idea why he was interacting with her again.

Two days after graduation she got a phone call from her contact. He found out where her brother was. He told her it took so long because his address and name kept changing. She believed him since the Syndicate probably knew that someone was looking for her brother. She drove out on her motorcycle fully armed and ready to rescue her brother. To bad she left Inuyasha sleeping naked in her bed.

"You got the info."

"Yeah I finally do."

"Okay here's the rest of your money, I hope you appreciate it. I had to work 3 jobs to get you all that."

"Well it wouldn't have costed so much if this kid wasn't so hard to find."

She took the information and put it into the hidden pocket in her leather jacket. She wore black leather again, the same outfit she wore when she went to kill The Thunder Brothers. Along with the money she handed him a manila envelope filled with extra money and directions incase she died that night. The man thanked her and left. She looked at the directions and put them back in her pocket. Good thing she got the directions now, she would be there around night fall. Unknown to her Inuyasha was hot on her trail; a little pissed she left him.

Kagome drove past a nice old looking home; she parked her bike in front of the house. She got there maybe an hour after sunset; she blended in pretty good with her surroundings. She didn't really have a plan the only thing on her mind was Souta. So she did the next best thing, she walked up to the door and was about to knock. What the hell am I doing? What if they're in there waiting for me, I could be walking into my death. She looked up at the second floor and decided there was no way in hell she was going to make it to a window up there. She walked around to the back and found an open window. Lady luck is on my side, this place has really low security for the Syndicate.

She climbed through the window and realized most of the house was dark. She heard cursing and what sounded like a video game. Well the video game made sense for a 10 year old so she followed the sound. She ended up on the second floor anyways. She peeked through the cracked door and saw the silhouette of a small figure sitting in front of a TV on the floor. She slowly opened the door hoping it wouldn't squeak. Well Lady Luck decided to ditch her because it squeaked. The figure turned around.

"Who are you?"

"…" Kagome couldn't decide if that was him, she didn't want to find out she broke into the wrong house.

"If you don't answer me I'll call for help!"

"Look kid no need for that" She flipped the light on and gasped. It was him finally after all her searching. Tears streamed down her face she was so happy.

"Souta is that you?! It's me Kagome."

"KAGOME." He ran up to her and gave her a bear hug. He leaned back and smacked her on the arm.

"Ow what was that for?"

"What took you so long?! That doesn't matter at least you here."

"Quick grab your stuff."

He was grabbing everything he could think of. Wow he's gotten so big over the years! She took his hand and they ran down the stairs. That was the last thing she remembered before everything went black.

Inuyasha was close to an hour behind Kagome now. He got lost in the maze of alleys. I swear she does that on purpose because she knows I'm following her. He followed her scent to a nice looking house. Everything looked alright so he walked up to the door and knocked. A nice lady answered the door, she seemed really confused. He asked her about Kagome a couple more times before giving up, he could have sworn he smelled her scent inside that house. He went out to his car to sit, maybe he would see her. She had to be around here somewhere.

Kagome woke up in a dark room, at least she was on carpet; cement would have been more painful. She tried to focus her eyes; it looked like she was in the basement. She looked around some more and saw Souta unconscious tied to a chair in the middle of the room. She tired to crawl to him from her corner but that's when the master of all this decided to make himself known.

"I see you've woken up." Kagome couldn't see his face; it was still in the shadows.

"Who are you?"

"You mean you haven't figured it out yet. Man you are slow!" He stepped out of the shadows.

"Huh Naraku! You fucking bastard."

"Well you probably know me as Onigumo, but yes it's been me all along," he pulled up his sleeve. "And my little minx this is where you bit me, what a lovely scare it is!"

His face was close to hers; he could feel the anger and hate flowing off her in waves. Kagome wished she had her weapons, but she settled for spitting in his face instead.

"You will regret that."

He nodded his head towards her and two beefy looking dudes came towards her. She was about to scream when duct tape was put over her mouth. They both had to drag her to another part of the basement since she was flailing her legs everywhere. She was tossed onto a bed, that's when she stopped to see where she was. It looked like a bedroom with red light coming from the lamps on each side of the bed. A door closed and she jumped, there was Naraku with a huge smirk on his face.

"Well well well what do we have here?"

If Kagome hadn't been gagged she would have said fuck you, but he might have used that against her. He walked towards her so she tried to scoot away, that's when she noticed her boots and socks weren't on her feet. Slightly distracted she wanted to see what else was missing. Her leather jacket was gone as well; Naraku now had two hands and a knee on the bed. Kagome made a muffled scream. Damn me and my short attention span! (Blame bree for the content ahead she wanted this so I put it in!)

"Screaming won't help you now!"

Kagome brought her hands under her feet so she could fight with them if she needed to, besides she could dislocate an arm with her hands tied behind her back. Naraku grabbed her legs and slid her down, she yelped. He now had his lower body completely on top of her. She was now thrashing around; she was creating friction for his growing erection. He decided he liked it when she struggled it was much more fun that way. He grabbed her arms and pinned them above her head. He gave her a cocky smirk and pecked her on the lips. She heard rustling and him shifting his weight. He moved back into his previous position and felt something on her chest. She didn't want to open her eyes; Kagome had an idea of what it was. She right hooked him and he fell off the bed. She was closer to the door so she grabbed a sheet secured it around her and made a run for it. She eventually got the door open, she forgot he locked it. There were two men trying to hold her brother down, and from what she assumed to kill him. No she couldn't have that, she picked up the chair Souta was sitting in earlier and hit one of the burley men over the head with it. He was now unconscious and the other muscle man saw her as his target. He charged her but thankful she dove out of the way. He ran into a wall, but some how he got back up. She got into a fighting stance and was ready to take this bastard down. Souta had a death grip on the sheet, so she was a little immobile at the second. The last thing she wanted to do was scar her brother for life.

The guy finally fell over so she decided now would be a good time to run. She was pushing Souta in the directions of the stairs when something caught her foot. She fell forward and almost hit her face on the stairs. Souta turned around, he was horrified. Kagome turned around to see Naraku dressed in pants lying on the stairs holding her ankle. He started to pull her so Souta grabbed her other hand that didn't have a death grip on the stair above her. Her shoulders felt like they would come apart at any minute.

"You can't escape love, even if you some how got away from me I have this whole place wired. If I can't have you no one will. I could blow this place before you could step a foot out that door!"

"Souta RUN…"

Souta didn't know what to do; he couldn't just leave her there. She cursed at him so he decided it was best to leave. He ran up the stairs and through the kitchen. He was almost to the front door when another muscular goon got in his way. He knew he couldn't take him on so he looked around trying to figure something out. He noticed the rug the guy was standing on; he thought about it but decided he wasn't strong enough to pull it out from under him. The guy stepped off the rug towards him, now was his chance. He ran across the hard wood floor and dove through the guys legs. He landed on his stomach and slid with the carpet to the door. He didn't waste a minute and opened the door. He ran down the stairs and spotted a guy in a car across the street.

He started yelling and waving his arms, he heard something behind him and saw mocha man was following him. Beef cake almost caught him but the stranger attacked the guy and soon had him unconscious.

"Hey kid you alright?"

"…Uh yea. Oh jeez my sister you have to help her."

Kagome was trying to pull herself away from Naraku but he now was on his feet pulling. He eventually was going to win the advantage of gravity. Kagome had a plan she let go and he fell backwards, hard. She laughed and stayed put she knew she wouldn't be able to make it out in time.

"Oh you think that's funny!?" Naraku pulled out a black square thing with a red button. "I'll give you something to laugh about, how about feeling your flesh burn."

Kagome's face twisted, she'd rather be strangled. She tackled him; maybe just maybe she could take the controller and break it. They wrestled around but he ended up pushing the red button.

"SHIT," Both of them yelled in unison.

Inuyasha ran towards the house, as soon as his foot hit the first stair the house blew up. He was thrown past his car that the kid was now ducking in. After a few minutes he got up and checked to see if the kid was okay. He was fine so he went to go check the house to see if anyone was in there. All the smoke and smell of burned stuff messed with his senses he couldn't tell if there was anyone in there or not. The kid followed him and told him she was in the basement. When he got there he found nothing but burnt clothes, and a pink orb necklace that some how looked familiar.

"I think she's dead kid. What's your name maybe we could find the rest of your family. I know you wouldn't want to become a foster kid!"

"S-Souta….. Higurashi." Souta crumpled to the floor and was crying into his hands.

After all this time he lost his sister and he was so close. It finally clicked for Inuyasha. Kagome just died, he was frozen. HIS Kagome just died, this bastard that's been haunting her killed her. He howled in pain, he lost his mate.

It's almost been a month now since Kagome died. Everyone presumed she was dead, her body hadn't been found. Sango and Rin filled him in on her past. He was shocked his Kagome had gone through so much pain. He couldn't even comfort her, he was a little mad she didn't tell him. He knew a little from reading her diary but he didn't want to ask, it seemed like a touchy subject. He hadn't slept in days; he couldn't even remember the last time he ate. Rin most of the time force fed him with the help of Sess. If he had the strength he would have punched Sess or been embarrassed.

"Inuyasha you almost ready we have to be at the church in 20 minutes."

"Yea Rin I'll be right down."

He finished buttoning up his white dress shirt and hung his bow tie around his neck, he would tie it later. He walked over to his desk and rubbed the pink ball hanging from his neck. He wanted to read the letter he got from Kagome a week after she had been presumed dead. He hadn't accepted she died until he read her letter he got in the mail.

Inuyasha,

If you're reading this right now I'm not alive. I know it maybe tough but I want you to move on. I know you're in pain, but please don't hate me. I had to take care of this myself and no one could help me. This was my problem, but thank you for being there. If Souta made it please take care of him, he's not an adult and he still needs someone. He might not warm up for a while but I need you to be there for him since I can't. Please take care of Shippou too. He's going to have a tough time loosing two moms. And please take care of yourself; I don't want you to waste away.

I love you more than anything; I know I may not act like it. Sorry for breaking your nose 3 times, my bad. Ask Shippou for my spare keys I want you to see all of my things I hid from you. Ask Shippou to show you too, I don't want you to break anything. I want everyone to live life like I'm not gone. This means Rin will still have a wedding and so will Sango and Miroku. I love you and I'll see you again some day.

Inuyasha folded the letter back up and started laughing, but that soon turned into crying. God he missed her, the way she laughed, the way her cheeks blushed when she was mad, and the way she used to moan his name when they made love. There was a knock on his door and Rin walked in.

"Inuyasha you okay?" He didn't answer; she put an arm around him hoping that would calm him down.

"Inuyasha you're not the only person who lost someone. Kagome wanted me to still have a wedding and I'm sure she wanted you there. I want Kagome to look down on us today and be happy we followed her wishes."

"Your right." Inuyasha grabbed his jacket and they both headed out the door.

Everyone was throwing rice at the two newlyweds walking down the front steps of the church. Rin tossed her bouquet backwards and Sango caught it. Her and her husband climbed into their limo and headed to their honey moon in the Caribbean. Inside the limo they both changed into some casual clothes and were cuddling.

"I miss her Sess; she was my first real friend."

"I miss her too; I like what she did to Inuaysha's attitude. She was like a sister."

Sess smiled thinking about his birthday the group of friends spent together. He just blew out his candles and was removing them with Rin. All the sudden some one pushed his head into the cake. He turned around with white frosting all over him, there was Kagome laughing. She swore she almost laughed up a lung. Of course he went after her, with the entire cake. He caught her and let her have it, both of them walked back to the group looking like snow men. Everyone laughed and decided to go and get another cake while Sess and Kagome cleaned up. Rin fisted her hand in his shirt and was crying on his shoulder. Sess just hugged her and was rubbing her back.

"Shhh. This is our wedding day and as soon as we get to the hotel you're not leaving bed for at least a week!"

Rin blushed and kissed him on the lips, "Well in that case I can't wait."

Back at the church everyone was starting to leave. Inuyasha just stood there looking at the spot where the limo was. He would go back home with Souta and Shippou and become one big family, with no Kagome. The one person who meant the entire world to all of them! Shippou was on Inuyasha's shoulder and Souta was by his side.

Inuyasha put an arm around Souta, "Let's go out for pizza!"

Before they left Inuyasha said bye to Sango. She looked a lot thinner and very pale. She was almost taking Kagome's death worse than he was, but she put on a happy face. He said bye to Miroku and told him to take care of Sango. Inuyasha was walking to the car with Souta by his side and Shippou on his shoulder. Kagome had brought them all together and now she was gone. She even became friends with Miroku. She was almost like the glue; he even got along with his brother better. He was going to miss her.
