Chapter 6

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or any of the characters.

Kagome awoke to the sound of music pounding in her ears. She groaned and rolled over. She brought her hands up to her face and rubbed her eyes vigorously to rid them of sleep.

She blinked a few times and her eyes were assaulted with a bright light. She quickly closed her eyes and threw a pillow over her head. She groaned again. She tiredly pulled the pillow away from her face and realized that it was now dark. She frowned and looked towards the light switch. She gasped when she did indeed see someone. It wasn’t quite who she expected it would be.

“What do you want!?” She called out to them shakily. She felt somewhat vulnerable and it didn’t help that she was enemies with the person standing near the doorway. The figure chuckled and advanced towards her, resulting in a scream erupting from her throat. The figure hurried over to her and forced their hand over her mouth, muffling her cry for help.

Inuyasha had a horrible sinking feeling in his stomach again. He told Kikyou that he would be right back and hurried up to check on Kagome.

Halfway up the stairs he vaguely heard the sound of Kagome’s screaming. He used his demonic speed to race to her room. He reached for the door handle and noticed that the lock was broken off. He barged in the room and was shocked by what he saw. He saw Kagome crying and a man holding his hand over her mouth. A deep growl emitted from his throat as he advanced upon the man.

“Get away from Kagome!” He snarled at him.

“Relax, hanyou, I didn’t harm her! I merely told her of some plans that involve her. Goodbye Kagome.” With that he patted her cheek and vanished into thin air.

“Inuyasha! You have to stay away from Kikyou!” She cried wiping her tears away. The hanyou scoffed.

“Kagome if this is some pathetic attempt at trying to keep me from getting a girlfriend, you’re a lousy friend for doing it!” He yelled at her, punching the bedpost. She stared at him in disbelief. ‘We’ve been best friends for as long as I can remember…And he chooses now of all times to not believe me!?’ She bowed her head and allowed a few tears to fall.

“Inuyasha…Trust me…What he had to say was bad…He said some things about Kikyou…You should stay away from her…” She heard the bed creak and sinking at her side she looked up to see his amber eyes glaring at her with something she couldn’t place.

“Kagome…You’re my best friend and I love ya for that, but you can’t be jealous over one girl. She won’t keep us apart. Hell, we’re like one! Don’t worry and let me live some!” He gazed at her again with a different look in his eyes that Kagome couldn’t place either.

‘Oh Inuyasha, how dimwitted you can be at times. I’m trying to save you from making, possibly, the biggest mistake of your life.’ She sighed and brought her deep brown orbs to meet his gaze again.

“Inuyasha…I don’t know what I did to lose your trust…But don’t lose my friendship because of it!” With that she jumped up and off the bed. She ran out of the room before new tears could form and she headed down to rejoin the party.

‘Lose your friendship? How? Kagome…’ A look of pain crossed his features at the thought of losing his best friend. His other half. He didn’t quite know how to handle that news.

Kagome made her way slowly down the stairs. She tried to process the information she had received.

Flashback-

The figure hurried over to her and forced their hand over her mouth muffling her cry for help.

“Kagome, don’t scream! I’m trying to help you! Don’t talk, just listen. We don’t have much time, the hanyou is coming.” The frightened girl nodded, showing she was ready to listen.

“Okay, I know of some plans that Kikyou has made. She has her sights set on Inuyasha. She is planning on doing everything in her power to win him over. Were you curious about her recent and sudden change in appearance and attitude? All a part of her plan. She even got her friends to play along. I, being one of them, am skeptical about this whole deal. I don’t want to see you hurt by what she’s going to do.” He ran his finger along her jaw line, receiving a cold glare from the helpless girl.

“As I was saying, Kikyou is planning on winning Inuyasha over. Once she completely wins his trust, she will attempt to rid him of you. And I don’t mean in a nice way. She will
kill you, Kagome.” Kagome’s eyes widened and tears fell from her eyes. She tried to say something, but her voice couldn’t be heard through the man’s hand.

“If you never trust me again, trust me only this once. This once I am telling the truth. I don’t want that ruthless girl to get you, my dear.” Just as the man was about to remove his hand and kiss the girl he held, the hanyou he spoke of entered the room.

-End Flashback

Kagome slid down to sit on a step. She pulled her knees to her chest and sobbed. ‘Kikyou…She’s going to steal my best friend from me…She’s going to kill me…But how do I know that I can trust Naraku? Oh nothing makes sense anymore! I’m getting Souta and I’m going home…I’ll try to talk some sense into Inuyasha later…’ With that thought she pushed all emotions aside and set out on her mission home.

‘Now that I told that my fair Kagome what my vile friend plans on doing…Maybe I can gain her trust…Then she shall be mine…And her jewel too! Oh how stupid that girl is to flaunt that thing around on a flimsy chain!’ He smiled wickedly at his thoughts and watched as his newest obsession made her way away from the party.

He slowly made his way over to Kikyou. He could see through her mask and see the restlessness and nervousness.

“Hello Kikyou my dear.” He said pleasantly.

“Shut up, Naraku. Have you by any chance seen Inuyasha?” Her eyes scanned around aimlessly for the boy she wanted.

“Yes, Kikyou, I have. I do believe he was with Kagome…In a bedroom upstairs.” He replied, feigning glum. Her cold glare returned to him as she tried to figure out if he was telling the truth. ‘I don’t see Inuyasha or Higurashi anywhere…And Naraku is my friend…Could I lose him so soon? Or so easily?’

Yes I know…I still haven’t made it passed that damn brick wall. There’s a tiny pinprick of light seeping through that has allowed me to type this chapter…So thank that. -bows- Please review. Thank you!
