Chapter 25

Heh…I’m having a slight break down…So if any of my mood affects the story…I am deeply apologetic!!! (Unless of course it affects it in a good way…Then I don’t know what I am…O.o)

A young brunette girl opened her eyes. Upon seeing no light hitting her sensitive eyes, she decided to turn over and return to the realm she had been woken up from. But something stopped her. Something told her to look at the rest of the slumbering teens in the room. Half asleep and following her gut, she set her gaze on the boy sleeping contently in the bed next to hers. She smiled at how innocent her pervert of a boyfriend looked in his sleep.

‘Why can’t he always be so innocent?’ She sighed and shook her head. ‘Because then he wouldn’t be the man…err boy…I fell for, would he?’ She smiled to herself and looked at the bed next to his. A startled expression crossed her features when she realized the cot was unoccupied. ‘Where’s…’ She didn’t finish her thought before her gaze switched to the other girl’s bed and she saw them; sleeping contently in one another’s arms.

‘Aww! Those two, finally realized how much they like each other!? I can’t believe it! I mean, come on! I realized it years ago! And even Miroku here figured it out, and he’s only been our friend for a short time! Although, I am glad for them…I am also envious…Which yeah, I know is a sin…So what! Sue me; I’m human! Oh yeah, back on track! I envy them! They have a love that is so pure and innocent. It surpassed even the greatest turmoil of the poor girl losing her mother and grandfather! And her recently being shot by a jealous girlfriend of the guy she loves! Well…I said I was envious of their love, not what they went through! I don’t think I could take that on with the hectic load I have right now as it is! Wait…Speaking of my innocent-while-sleeping-perverted-boyfriend…I wonder…’

Quietly the girl slipped her covers off and instantly shivered at the lack of their warmth. She padded across the space to Miroku’s bed. She pulled the covers away from him and slipped under them with him. She snuggled up close to him, and in his sleep, he wrapped his arm around her waist. She smiled to herself thinking of how unperverted he was being. Sighing, finally content, she drifted back to the world of dreams.

Miroku opened his eyes and stared down at the sleeping face of his girlfriend. ‘She really does like me…Doesn’t she?’ He felt an odd feeling that he always felt whenever she entered the room, or even his thoughts. ‘That’s fine with me…Because I think I love her too.’

Lightly, kissing her forehead, he pulled her close to him and fell back to sleep.

The next morning the teens were awoken by loud screaming coming from three very energetic boys.

“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!! Come on! You’re going to be late for school!” The boys all whooped and made Indian calls while jumping and running around the beds. Sango and Kagome both snarled at their younger brothers and yelled at them to get out.

“Nooo! Emi told us that had to wake you guys up….And what is she going to say when we tell her you’re sleeping in each other’s beds?” Kohaku smiled smugly.

“You wouldn’t!?” Sango’s eyes widened in horror.

“Oh…We would!” She dove at him and he ran screaming from the room with a very cranky Sango trying to wring his neck.

“You wouldn’t do that do me would you, Souta?” Kagome looked hopefully at her little brother. He looked pensive for a moment before saying he would.

And, thus, they ran from the room very much like Sango and Kohaku, only with Shippou following behind to watch in amusement.

The two remaining teens looked at each other before falling into fits of laughter.

Begrudgingly everyone made it to school on time that day. Word spread quickly about the new couple. And the students all began to question Kikyou’s absence. Of course, they had no idea she had been the one to shoot Kagome…But that was going to just be a little secret. Actually, they all noticed that Kikyou, Kagura, and Naraku had been missing for some time. This caused rumors of course, which if the three came back to school, they would really not like to hear.

Kouga avoided the four (Sango, Miroku, Kagome, Inuyasha) most of the day. He was still feeling down about the fact that Kagome dumping him for his least favorite person. But Ayame was on better terms with the girl. They actually had real conversations in school that day. She acted as if nothing had ever happened between them, which somewhat unnerved the girl. Ayame was quite pleased that she once again had Kouga all to herself. Kagome regarded her with unease; still not sure she wouldn’t try to kill her.

Kagome was sitting in class, fiddling with her necklace, with thoughts drifting through her mind.

‘Everything is okay now…Right? Well except for the fact that I now have no parents…Neither does Souta. I’m living in foster care, which actually isn’t that bad, now that I think about it. I got two new brothers out of it…Even if we should be separated, we’ll always be family…I mean even Emi and Katsu…They were there for me. And I got a new kitten, Kiei. And Kikyou and Naraku are nowhere to be found…I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, yet. And I finally admitted my feelings to Inuyasha, and he to I…We’re together…Ayame gets Kouga…Sango and Miroku are together…I think she’s breaking him of his perverse ways actually…Now that’s something.’ The girl sighed and continued staring out the window, completely oblivious to all around her.

‘Mom and Jii-chan’s funeral is soon. I so don’t want it to be true. I wish it were just all a nightmare…’ Silent tears slipped down her cheeks and she quickly wiped them away. ‘Crying doesn’t solve anything!’ She mentally scolded herself. ‘They’re gone and there’s nothing I can do about it.’

The bell ringing startled her from her thoughts and she quickly gathered her things together and ran to get a ride from one of her friends.

“Inuyasha!!” She called out to him. He turned towards the sound of her voice and smiled.

“Hey Kags.” He wrapped his arms around her in a hug.

“Inuyasha, I wanna see Rin tonight. I need the distraction! She’s such a sweet little girl. And I consider her my niece just as much as you do.” She folded her arms over her chest, daring him to object. He laughed at how childish she was being.

“Okay…You can see Rin.” She squealed in delight and ran to the passenger’s side of the car, getting in; she yelled at him and told him how slow he was being. He laughed and shook his head once again.

‘Kagome…What am I going to do with you?’ That thought caused other thoughts to enter his mind. And many were not innocent, might I add. Actually, a lot were very Miroku-like.

“We’re here…” She bolted out of the car and ran in search of the young girl she came to see.

“Kagome!” The sound of her name caused her to turn her head and not watch where she was running. She smacked right into a wall.

“Kagome! Are you okay?” The little girl peered down at the older female. She mumbled and nodded her head.

“Yeah, of course Rin!” She smiled and allowed the girl to help her up.

“Kagome-chan, do you know what my daddy did?” The girl shook her head ‘no’.

“Well…Me, Kohaku and Souta didn’t know the words to this one song…”

Until next time…
