InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Notice Me ❯ Out to Lunch? ( Chapter 2 )
Out to Lunch?
Kagome eagerly collected her books into a pile when the bell rang, indicating that class was over. She was in a hurry to leave, considering that Kouga sat right behind her, and was breathing hotly down her neck all class. She tried to flee from the room, but she had no such luck.
"Kagome." A husky voice whispered, as an outstretched arm pulled her against Kouga's chest. "Kouga!" Kagome groaned, trying to pull his arm off of her waist. Suddenly a voice caught her by surprise.
"Kagome?" She turned around to face Kikyou. She never really liked Kikyou, but she wouldn't tell her that. "Uh, yeah?" Kagome asked, with a bewildered expression. Kikyou took a deep breath, as if she was afraid to say something. "Are you dating Inuyasha?" She finally blurted, her eyes green with envy.
Kagome felt her whole face heat up, and she opened her mouth to answer but- "No way!" Kouga growled possessively. "Kagome's my woman!" With that he pulled her dangerously close to his body. Kagome struggled to free herself from his strong embrace. "Let me go!" She howled. Now this was getting serious.
"Kids!" A voice snapped, and all three of them turned to see their teacher glaring angrily at them. "What in the world are you doing!?" Kagome smiled nervously, and Kouga quickly removed his arms from Kagome. Kikyou just stared, dumbfounded.
"You all have detention tomorrow night. Now, go to lunch!"
~
After Kagome explained to Kikyou that she was not going out with Inuyasha, They were just friends, she lost Kouga, and hurried to lunch.
'Gods! I have detention?!' She realized, as she slipped into the crowded cafeteria.
Her stomach growled, and she groaned at the long lunch line. She sighed, as she went to the back of the line. 'This is going to be a long day.' She told herself.
~
"So, what happened?" Miroku asked Inuyasha as they sat together, eating lunch. "NOTHING HAPPENED!" Inuyasha answered for the hundredth time, backhanding Miroku. Miroku let out an annoyed sigh. "Was it worth getting detention over?" He ducked Inuyasha's next attack, but it never came.
Inuyasha was gazing at Kagome with his mouth wide open.
"That's really attractive, Inuyasha!" Miroku teased, snapping Inuyasha out of his daze. "Shut up, Miroku!" Inuyasha snapped. "Why don't you go talk to her?" Miroku suggested. Inuyasha shrugged. "You think she'll mind?" Miroku gave him a 'What do you think?' face, and Inuyasha got up.
"You're right." He said, staring at the beautiful girl. He stood there for a minute, wondering what he could say to her. He finally worked up his courage and approached her, at the end of the line.
~
Kagome stood there, bored as hell. It seemed like the line would never move. Suddenly a voice behind her startled her. "Hey, Kagome!" She turned around, afraid it was Kouga. "Just leave me al-" She stopped herself when she saw it was a very attractive dog boy.
He was quite the average Joe. He wore a white t-shirt, with a blue plaid over shirt buttoned halfway. He had on khaki jeans, and he carried a black backpack around. His style was quite similar to his friend, Miroku's.
She realized she was staring him down, and blushed. "Oh, hi!" She said, in a friendly voice, smiling widely at him. He smiled back. "I wasn't who you were expecting?" He asked. She laughed nervously. "No, not exactly." She admitted, letting out a relieved sigh.
"So…who were you expecting?" He asked.
She let out an annoyed sigh, before saying, "Kouga."
"Is that a bad thing?" He asked, jealously.
"YES!" She groaned, "He's such a jerk!"
"B-But I thought you were going out…" Inuyasha said, surprised.
She folded her arms angrily. "That's a rumor! I hate him!"
Inuyasha laughed. "Why?"
"Well, he keeps calling me 'his woman', and he always touches me, and hugs me…" She let out a deep breath. "It's really uncomfortable…"
He folded his arms protectively. "I'll teach him a lesson if you want." He said.
She just laughed. "That's alright! I can handle myself, but thanks for your concern."
"Oh, you're welcome!" He said, shyly.
"Inuyasha?" She asked. His ears perked up when he heard his name, and she laughed. "Do you have detention because of me?" He looked at his feet. "Um, yeah…" He admitted. She gave him a guilty look. "Oh, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed. "Is there anyway I can make it up to you?"
He just blushed at little. "N-No. It's alright, Kagome." He said. She smiled at him, realizing something. "I have detention, too!" She said, happily, "I can keep you company." He grinned at this. "That's a good idea!" He said.
She realized it was time to order her meal. She turned to talk, but just as she did the bell rang. "W-What!?" She gasped. "Lunch is over!?" She watched the students piling out the door. "B-But…" She stared at Inuyasha who was looking at her, sympathetically.
"Uh…If you're hungry I can take you somewhere to eat after school!" He offered. She watched his face turn a deep shade of red, and he seemed to regret what he said. She was disappointed about missing her meal, but happy that he was so concerned. 'How sweet!' She thought to herself.
"That would be so nice!" She said, suddenly. He looked up with a shocked look. "R-Really?" He asked. She smiled. "Why wouldn't I?" She asked him, "We are friends, right?"
'Friends.' He realized, 'We're really friends?'
He smiled at her, contently. "Yeah." He said, "Friends." She was still struggling with that backpack, so he took it off her hands, again, and walked her to class. "Really, Inuyasha." She protested. "You don't have to carry that!" He just laughed. "It's okay." He told her.
----{@
School was over, and it was time to go meet Kagome at class. He was playing with his car keys nervously. "Where should I take her?" He asked Miroku. "Burger King!" He told him. "It's not a date or anything! You don't want to freak her out." Inuyasha decided Miroku was right. He knew a lot about dating, and girls.
"Inuyasha!" A girl's voice called from behind them.
Inuyasha turned to see Kikyou running at him. She wrapped her arms around him in an embrace. "Inuyasha, did you miss me!" She laughed. He shifted uncomfortably in her grasp, and gave Miroku a questioning look. Miroku just shrugged.
"Eh, Kikyou?" Inuyasha said, uncomfortably, "I've got to be somewhere." With that, he pried her off, and began walking in the direction of Kagome's class. She pouted, and walked away.
"She seems to like you." Miroku teased. Inuyasha just rolled his eyes. "She's alright, but she's not Kagome." he said. They stopped to see Kagome standing in front of them. "Hey, Inuyasha!" She said, happily. "Thanks again!"
He just nodded, with a shy smile. "Hey, Inuyasha, I'm gonna get going!" Miroku said, with a wink. With that, he walked off.
Inuyasha glared at him for making it so obvious that he liked Kagome. Before Inuyasha could realize it, Kagome had his hand, and was eagerly pulling him to the door. "Come on, I'm hungry!" She laughed. He grinned. "Okay, okay! I'm coming!" He laughed.
They walked out to the parking lot, and Inuyasha led Kagome to a really nice, red Corvette. "Great car!" She gasped. He opened the door for Kagome, and she got in the passenger's seat. "Thanks!" He said, as he got in the drivers seat. Of course, he would never tell her that it was actually Sesshomaru's.
"So, …Where do you wanna go, Kagome?" He asked, as they pulled out of the parking lot. "Gee, I don't know." She admitted. "How about…Burger King!" Inuyasha laughed. Miroku did know a lot about girls! "Fast food queen, huh?" He teased. She just laughed.
"So, Inuyasha…" Kagome said, in a playful voice, "Kikyou sure does like you." He gave her an annoyed groan. "I'm not interested." He said. She laughed. "I don't blame you!" She said, "She's not your type." Inuyasha gave her a suspicious glance. "W-Why's that?" He asked. She shrugged.
"You're too nice for her, Inuyasha." She said, matter of factly.
"Is that so…" He asked, waiting for her to continue. He didn't mind being complimented.
"Seriously, she's so ugly, anyway!" Kagome blurted out, "…and she thinks she is so great, but she's-" She stopped to see Inuyasha laughing a little.
"W-What's so funny?" She demanded. He just shrugged.
"Nothing, Kagome." He said, as they pulled into the Burger King parking lot.
Kagome suddenly realized it. She was jealous! Of Kikyou! But why? Was it because she was interested in Inuyasha? She glanced at the handsome hanyou who was opening her door open for her. She stepped out, and they walked in together.
'No, that's not it.' She told herself, 'It can't be…can it?' Inuyasha motioned for her to get in a booth, and she did. He followed. "So, you don't like Kikyou?" He asked. It sounded before like she was a little jealous. Inuyasha loved it.
"Well, I guess it's not very nice of me to say that, is it?" She admitted, with a guilty face. He smiled. "Don't worry…that's how everybody feels about Kikyou!" He laughed, "Including me…" For some reason that last part made Kagome feel a lot better.
"Thanks, Inuyasha." She said. He looked at her with suspicion.
"For not liking Kikyou?" He asked her.
She felt herself blush. "N-No!" She snapped, "For taking me out to eat!"
He nodded, as if he understood. "Oh, okay." He said.

Like this chapter? Maybe I'm moving too quick? Feh, still so much more to write! Well keep up the reviews! I'm so glad you all like it so far! Below I'll list a couple of responses to my reviewers!
~{@}~
LadyMiaka: LoL, You've gotta love those ears! Stay tuned, I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story.
Zonza: Well, my story loves you too! =*D
Nissicat: So glad you like! ^_^ I hope you continue to read!
KawiiMusume: Fluff is what makes the world go round!!
Sesshomarugrl: I completely agree about the whole Sess/Rin Pairings. I refuse to write those, it's just not right. I was going to leave Sessho alone in this story, but do you have any suggestions?
White Tiger Princess: WoW! That's exactly how I wanted the story to be! Inuyasha is your everyday average joe! ^_^
MyogaM34: Satisfied with this chapter?
Sesshomarugrl: Again, I agree! I hate that clay pot! LoL, keep reviewing! It's fun to read what you have to say! =D
Jobetz: Sorry! I just needed to add a twist to the story! (*laughs maniacally*)
RedHerring: I'll say this only once. If you don't like my fanfic, I'm sorry. I didn't try to make Inuyasha out of character but that's how he acts around the girl he likes. He's afraid of scaring her off. Think about it. He's waited years to talk to her. Notice he acts differently with Miroku? Sorry, if you don't like the way I write it.
BY THE WAY!!! I don't own Inuyasha! Never have, never will!
