Chapter 2


As Kagome walked into the large room with a long stretch table, she caught Inuyasha staring at her. She quickly looked away and continued on. Lord Ayu stood and hugged his daughter, then offered her a seat on his right while his wife sat on his left. Kagome watched him raise his glass and prepare to make a toast.

“This is a celebration for the returning of my daughter, Princess Takemoto Karas. Karas wishes to be called by her mortal name, Takemoto Higurashi Kagome. I now congratulate her for extremely excelling in her priestess years. Her powers are extraordinary. I propose a toast to my daughter.” Ayu finished.

Kagome blushed a deep red as she heard every youkai, hanyou, and man say “To the Princess!” then drank they’re wine. Yuka nodded to Kagome as a queue for her to stand up. Kagome stood above the on looking youkai. Her eyes widened as she realized how many guests had attended.

“Let the feast begin!” she said loud enough for all to hear. She sat back down and started to pull some meat, vegetables, and dessert onto her plate. Kagome glanced around and saw the white haired Inu-youkai sitting right across from Inuyasha.

“Father, who is that Inu-youkai sitting across from Inuyasha? The one with the silver hair?” Kagome asked.

“Why Kagome. I thought you already knew these kinds of things. That is the Lord of the Western Lands, Lord Sesshomaru. The hanyou across him, as you call by the name Inuyasha, is his half brother. Lord Sesshomaru was kind enough to consider Inuyasha as his heir to the throne if he should ever pass on to the next world.” Lord Ayu explained. Kagome looked at the Lord curiously. Suddenly, her head began to throb with pain. Visions passed through her mind. She watched a vision effortlessly. Lady Yuka looked at her daughter and watched her eyes flicker, not red, but with an unusual color of an extremely dark blue. She tugged on her husbands sleeve as he looked over to Kagome. They both had horror struck faces. Kagome watched the Lord Sesshomaru and herself sitting together under a sakura tree that was releasing sakura blossoms. She saw the hands of the Inu lord wrapped around her and his head against hers. She howled in pain as the throbbing in her head increased. She then felt herself go into an all out rage. She jumped from her chair and land on the table. Kagome scanned the whole room until she saw Inuyasha at the door. She watched him walk out, and then made a mad dash for him.

“Inuyasha!!” she yelled. She was out of the room and in the garden. Kagome sniffed the air until she found his scent. According to this, he was behind her. She spun around and saw him staring at her, his eyes soft as butter and hair wavy as the sea.

“I will succeed in killing you!!” she threatened him.

“Kagome, why are you so mad at me? I don’t understand.” Inuyasha asked, calm as ever.

“I caught you rutting a whore AND a clay pot!! What is there not to be mad about?” Kagome stated. Her eyes were beginning top return to normal and felt tears swelling in her eyes.

“So, what does that have to do with anything? I can rut who ever I want. I just don’t get why you’re so mad at something like that. It’s not like you love me or something.” Inuyasha said, starting to sound a little harsh. At this, Kagome looked away, now fully aware of what was going on. Inuyasha stared at her wide eyed. “You do, don’t you?” he asked.

Kagome glanced at him through the corner of her eye and said, “Yeah, I do. Ever since I first saw you, first touched your ears, first conversation with you, up until now. I’m going to save you the sappy ‘feel-sorry-for-me’ speech and just say it. Inuyasha, I don’t think I love you anymore, therefore, it would be best if I’m not around any longer.” Kagome said coldly.

“You should’ve told me from the start.” Inuyasha told her.

“How could I? You said you didn’t like me because I was human. You said you hated me and couldn’t stand to be around me. I didn’t want my feelings to be hurt and ever since then, I’ve been afraid. I was afraid of what my emotions would cause between us. I didn’t know if you were going to accept it or…..” she paused and took a deep breath. “Or if you were going to toss it aside and say you didn’t care about my emotions. I’ve tried to tell you so many times but that same fear came to me every time. I’m sorry. I’m being such a baka!!” she said as she slapped herself. Kagome went to slap herself again for being foolish but her hand was caught by Inuyasha. She looked at him as he kept a hold of her wrist.

“Don’t do that. It’s wrong to do that to yourself.” He told her.

“I need to punish myself for being foolish. Don’t feel sorry for me. It’ll only make things….” Inuyasha pulled her toward him for a hug. He quickly wrapped his arms around her so he could feel her precious warmth.

“If you don’t think I care, then I think I shouldn’t be alive. Kagome, I do care. I care for you so much. Answer me this. Would I protect you of feed you if I didn’t care?” Inuyasha asked.

“No. but then again you would because I’m the one that senses jewel shards, you don’t.” Kagome answered.

“That’s not the point.” He said against her ear. Kagome felt shivers going down her spine. “I didn’t know. What I have done, I feel no regret. You didn’t claim me or confront me of your feelings towards me. If you told me sooner, I would’ve waited.” Inuyasha said, staring into her eyes.

“Well, whatever I feel is now over with. What’s done is done. If I could change the past, I would gather my courage and tell you right then in there.” Kagome said as she turned out of his arms. She started toward her room but saw that Inuyasha was blocking the way. “Inuyasha, please just let me go to my room.” Kagome pleaded. Inuyasha just stared at her. Kagome was now getting aggravated. She wanted to go to her room and get some sleep, then a hot bath. She then realized, he was trying to touch her and feel her soft skin. Kagome turned away. “Inuyasha, just leave me alone.” She said. He pulled his hand back to him but didn’t move. ‘I don’t have time for this.’ She thought angrily. Kagome raised her hand toward Inuyasha. Her hand started to glow blue as she concentrated. Inuyasha suddenly looked at his hand and saw that his whole body began to glow. Kagome moved Inuyasha away from the stairwell and put him back into the room. After he was in the room, she closed the doors and headed toward her room. She went straight to her balcony and stared out into the stars.

‘Why am I getting these visions of me and that Lord Sesshomaru? I barely even know him. How can I have visions of him?’ She thought. Kagome turned around and saw her father sitting on her bed.

“Father, there is something wrong with me. I keep having these visions of me and the Lord of the West. I do not know him so how could I start having images of him?” she asked. Lord Ayu sighed and shook his head.

“I shouldn’t hide this from you anymore. When you fell into the well, your memories were erased. Now, I think your miko powers are making you remember the past. Lord Sesshomaru was former love. You and he were to be mated but the battle got in the way.” Kagome’s eyes widened.

‘No wonder why I see images of him. But I don’t love him. If only I could go back in time and tell him I love him. Oh Inuyasha, my love for you is like a fire that burns forever and that would never go out.’ She thought. “I’ve heard enough. I want to go to bed.” She said. Lord Ayu stood and headed for the door.

“Good night, Kagome. I love you.” He walked out as he closed the door. Kagome sighed as she tucked herself in. she wrapped her tail around herself and fell into a light sleep.
